[Q] Root, Warranty, Factory ROM - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am not aware of this, so please help. Will rooting my Tab 2 7.0 end my warranty? I don't want to unlock my bootloader. If not, what's the best rooting method? And also will I be able to get back to my factory default absolutely original ROM?
Thanks all.

Yes it will end your warranty
But you can restore warranty by using triangle away app 1.95 in these forums (free) or google play (paid) to reset counter to zero
Then flash stock firmware via pc odin from www.samfirmware.com then you can claim warranty as you like and you will I be able to get back to my factory default absolutely original ROM

how to unroot a phone and claim back warranty?
Hi, I'm using Nexus S.
I found on the wiki
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Flashing_Guide_-_Android
that Nexus S can relock the unlocked bootloader by using this command
fastboot oem lock
I give it a shot. and the bootloader is now locked.
I reboot my phone. The boot up only has a Google logo without the lock icon.
Does it means my phone is now unrooted? and ready to claim back warranty?
My suggestion is to odin back.

Odin first then re lock bootloader sir.

sorry, What's odin?
Odin is a windows tool used by samsung support staff to restore their android phones to stock. This is the most complete way to restore your device.
Please note that using odin on your 9023 will change your carrier info to EUR which I did never see in wild!
But honestly, do you really think samsung is checking your devices that exhaustingly? Time's money.

Basically ODIN is the program to be used in order to get the ota or go back to stock condition, you will have to go back to stock recovery. Odin is a program for your pc to flash your phone and can put the stock recovery back.

Do you still have superuser installed?
And if you boot into recovery, is it stock or clockwork?
I did it like this: restored to stock 2.3.3 with nandroid backup. Then i removed superuser. Locked the bootloader. Still had cwm recovery though.
But as soon as i updated to 2.3. 4, the recovery turned stock too.

Hi bro, since it's back to stock and the fastboot being locked. technically my warranty is claimed back? haha
They wont really care about your software. Really.
In the warranty term and condition stated that if only your software is the problem, then you will be in trouble. If not, it's alright.

unfortunately that's not right! i got my NS back on friday (sent it in, because my display is on some parts not reacting on touch any more), with the message, that my warranty is void due to an application, that is able to change system data...(no more information yet, i am still in discussion with the service center)...though i have unrooted and relocked the bootloader?!

Remove bloatware, no root or warranty void?

Is there any way to remove all the bloatware without voiding the warranty, rooting, and so I can update when ICS EVENTUALLY comes out? thanks

Not that I am aware of. But if you still want to update via kies just use titanium and freeze the bloat. But I am not aware of any way to root without voiding warranty. I know there is the back to stock using Odin, along with the flash counter reset

Yeah theres no way of doing it without rooting your phone. But, you are not necessarily voiding your warranty by rooting your phone. The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act lets you root your phone and not void your warranty. Just root it, install a custom ROM, enjoy the hell out of it until ICS comes out (IF it ever comes out and T-Mobile decides to get off their lazy butts and do something productive). And IF it does come out, just use Odin to return to stock, and reset the flash counter. You'll be good to go.
Please post questions in the Q&A/General section. This section is for development (roms, kernel, recovery, etc.).

Use Odin to flash stock firmware from 'sammobile.com'. I think you may have tripped Knox flag.

1.Since you are rooted Install Triangle away..
2. Run Triangle away to reset flash counter.
3. Download odin. If you do not know what it is Search dev forum on how to get and use it.
4. Download the Current FULL STOCK FIRMWARE FOR THE note tablet in your Region.
5. Follow odin instructions on the place you found odin software.
6. You are NOW Totally stock with NO SIGN YOU TAMPERED with your device.
Good Luck

[Q] How to completely unroot device

Hi there, I just got my S6 2 days ago and it already has a problem with the home button. I have to click it 3 times before it actually registers the click.
So I have to return it to EE and hopefully they'll sort this out for me.
However I just rooted it via pingpong root. I'm just wondering is there any way to completely unroot it and remove all the traces of root?
With regards,
Beston94
Kingroot I think you can get it from play store.
Sent from my SM-G920F using XDA Free mobile app
Just flash the stock ROM for your varient from sammobile.com via Odin.
It will default everything to stock and lose root.
What genetichazzard said. But you might also want to do a factory reset from the stock recovery, too, just to make sure

[Q] Question about NE1 bootrom lock issue

I have an sch-i535 Galaxy S3 Verizon phone. I'm not using it on a network anymore and just want to use a custom rom. Is there ANY way to wipe, replace, do something with the locked bootloader since I'm not using the phone as a phone?

Your out of luck. Locked bootloader means no way to return to a previous version on Android. Even if its not being used as a phone it's basically stuck there. There are jtag services out there to revert back to 4.1.2 but I've heard a lot of mixed thoughts on those

Since I'm not too concerned about breaking this phone, can someone point me to info on the procedure for using JTAG to go back to 4.1.2? I have found some advertisements but no how-to.

I'd suggest mobile tech videos. There is a thread on xda about them but there are mixed reviews

Moved to Q&A.
If you decide not to go the jtag route you could:
1) install SafeStrap
2) flash SuperliteROM into stock slot
3) flash XPosed and the modules that would make SLR look and act as you like.
This is what I have done with the i535 I picked up that was on NE1.
