[Q] any custom ICS rom for Rogers Infuse? - Samsung Infuse 4G

Hi
I've been searching the net for a custom ICS or JB rom for my Rogers Infuse but I couldn't find anything. All what I've found are roms installed using CWM not Odin and from what I've understood I can't install CWM. Is it possible to have your help guys to find this ROM?
Thanks.

Ics and jb roms also work with rogers infuse.
You should be able to install cwm on your phone, probably by flashing a custom kernel.
I'll see if I can find anything and also encourage you to search around about that.

Here are some instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20140197&postcount=3
That should give you cwm and allow you to flash ics or jb roms.

Thank you andros for your help
Now I have CWM, can I install any ICS or JB rom for Infuse or should I watch also if the kernel is the same?

Great!
Yes, you should be able to flash any rom now.
Be sure to follow the instructions. You can use my how to flash jb guide, linked in my sig.

the roms will include kernels, don't mix kernels. the aosp dev scene changes by the week (sometimes day) on the infuse as we try to catch up to the galaxy s' level(they had a lot of headway and a ton more highly experienced developers). so a kernel for a rom today might only partially work with a rom from two weeks ago..
only change the kernel if the rom developer has an alternative kernel such as oc/uv or something....

Bit of confusion

So I've been reading since I did my root and flashed infusion 1.8 I'm wanting to mess around with custom roms I was seeing there is an miui it says it's 2.3.5 based my question is do I have to have ginger bread to flash this rom is that what it means when it's 2.3.5 based? I've googled and looked around the forums and couldn't really find anything on the subject so even a link would help I dont mind reading for myself thx guys
If you feel you are a noob, I would recommend non miui or non cm9 roms.

why would that be? and are the non miui cm9 roms as fun or as cool? i really just wanna try improving my battery life i dont even have my phone overclocked right now and it uses battery like crazy ive tried undervolting and it didnt do anything but shut my phone down even on the lowest settings.
and just for future reference if it says there 2.3.5. based or whatever os base they are does that mean i have to be updated to flash it?

My friend is on Rogers, WTF can he do?

lol, I have the T-mobile GSII
Rooted, rom'd and loving it.
now of course he wants to join, but he lives in the arctic, Canada and is on Rogers.
I found a video on how to root it, but really, if there is no Roms he can put on it, its kinda useless.
Anyone know of a ICS rom that works with Rogers ??
Maybe a rogers radio with an AT&T rom ?
no?
Thanks
Here is how to root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1340710
Use CM9 from teamchopsticks its the best rom out there

Don't use rom manager to install recovery!!!
Go to development section and check out the stickies.
His phone model is the i727R.
If you're rooted, you can quite easily flash CWM via odin (I use CWM touch). Once you're rooted and have CWM installed, you can install (almost) any of the roms you find in the development section. Instructions for installation are usually included in the development thread.
My two favourite roms at the moment are SkyICS and CM9. I'm currently running SkyICS as I can get a solid three days between charges with moderate usage although I do enjoy the feel of CM9 a bit more.
FYI

I would make the point that it seems, at least in my case and perhaps others, that CWM Touch is required if flashing from GB. I had to do that so...my $0.02, and all.
Edit: That is, if you want to avoid having to do some additional steps like Darside wipe.

[Q] New to the infuse forums and suffering from information overload and confusion

New to the infuse forums (so hoping I don't get beat up too much) basically Im trying to Downgrade my brothers infuse from the att ota gb update uclb3 back to froyo or upgrade to a custom gb rom, he is super pissed at me because his phone is super laggy and im the one that updated his phone. Tried to read through stuff but got a lil confused as the title states (I think I got spoiled from the i777 forums) any how if someone can point me to a good guide to follow from rooting to installing a rom or just reverting to stock froyo and a nice stable rom suggestion that would be nice. odin method preferred as i have no experience with heimdall. again appreciate the help and sorry if this is a redundant post (puts on flame retardant suit :angel
Links to everything needed for the infuse from Root to Unbrick(restore to stock froyo, or GB), to Custom ROMs and MODs can be found Here in an orderly fashion.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1610374
I myself suggest using Qksters Heimdall One Click to get the phone back to stock Gingerbread UCBL3, Using SuperOneClick to root the phone, then as far as custom ROMs, Might I suggest AEON v1.4?
AEON can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1545239
Heimdall One Click can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1524081
Also when going with Heimdall one click theres another package provided by qkster for CWM recovery, its the Kernel one click package which can be found in the same link above.

Thanks got a little overwhelmed sooo many guides lol. So since he is on the borked att gb already (came with froyo out of the box) guess I'll move on to rooting and installing a custom rom. Thinking of sticking with gb based roms. Taking the kiss approach since my brother is not that tech savvy and my goal is to find the most stable rom for him (his answer to bugs is bro fix this now!!!) Lol he did want ics cause he saw mine but idk how stable the ics roms for the infuse is yet so I got reading to do. Guess he'll just have to put up with att crap a day or two longer.

If you can use heimdall, the simplest way is to put the phone into download mode and flash my uclb3 stock package or adam outler's stock package.
The second post in each op contains the insecure kernel. These kernels are also flashed in download mode. Once these custom kernels are flashed, you can boot into CWM and then flash the custom firmware you want.
If you are familiar with Odin, check out some of jscott30's thread. He has several Odin premade rooted firmware package that are also very nice.
Once you have the firmware you want, Zen has cooked up a few kernels that can overclock at 1400 or 1600. These will provide quite a bit of speed over stock kernels.

Newest/Easiest way to root while on ics?

I see so many threads about rooting while on jellybean. What do i need to do to root on ics? The plan is to root and then use a custom jb rom. Thanks for your help.
Any help with my n00b post would be great.
Look for the debugfs method in the Dev section. That works on ICS but not jb as loopholes are closed on jb.

You can't use a JB rom custom or stock while you have ICS bootloader and updating to JB may remove root ( mine didn't ) and will certainly remove a custom recovery ( CWM or Twrp ). You have to unlock to install custom rom or recovery so if you are sure you wish JB custom rom why not update to JB and start from there?
Unlock, custom recovery for JB ( Twrp is my choice ), custom rom flashed with Twrp. I have not flashed any custom roms for the TF300 that weren't already rooted.
Good Luck!:good:
Yep, I am probably going to just go ahead and upgrade. I thought when I read that there was an advantage to being on ICS (for custom ROM purposes) but it doesn't seem to be the case. So I will get fully updated and then go from there.
Thanks!

The possible advantages are NVFlash, cm9, cm10, etc. At this time no CM, AOSP, AOKP, Paranoid Android, and so on for the JB bootloader. Everything ( rom ) is based on the stock kernel. It is being worked on but not ready for release yet. The dreaded i/o issue on JB and probably others.
If I were in your shoes I'd stay on ICS for now and wait a while for things to sort out. On ICS I'd run CM10 or Hydro for ICS. Those are just my feelings.
Take your time and look around a bit more if you have any doubts.
If you are ready then by all means go for it!
:good:Good Luck!
Thanks for all your help. I did go ahead and make the jump to JB. Currently on CleanROM but have no idea which of the "big 3" I should run. I suppose I will have to try them all and see. Wish there was a good pro/con list of each ROM that I could reference.

The biggest con of running JB is that Adobe has removed support for flash from JB in anticipation of forcing everyone to go use HTML5. You also cannot use the NVFlash method of backing up some crucial files as a safety net (the developers claim that using NVFlash makes your device brickproof).
I am still waiting for the kinks in JB to be worked out before I switch. I'm on ICS bootloader still and I can run a JB custom ROM (Baked Blackbean) just fine, so I can have my cake and eat it too. I can try out the JB changes without making a full commitment.
Just my two cents.

2.3.6 VictoryRom -> ?

Hi Guys,
I'm currently on 2.3.6 VictoryRom v1.1 which new ROM has ICS and will give me the best performance?
Will it be as simple as installing from .zip using clockwork?
Thanks for the help!

To use ICS roms you have to upgrade to ICS first.
As for roms, it's all personal opinion what is best. If HDMI/lapdock support isn't essential for you, I would recommend CM10.

Uhh..no CM10 is actually really stable. There are a couple really minor bugs left.. but it's Jelly Bean so it's smooth as butter (project butter) and is well worth the tiny bugs.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1869692
yeah, cm10 is very stable.. no random reboots or anything for me.. sure it has a few bugs, but nothing to stop you from using it as your daily driver. Actually what keeps making me go back to cm10 is that its so friggin smooth and ofcourse the little customisations you can do and themes..
For the OP, I dunno much about the GB roms, but id recommend both cm10 and and magicmod with performance and customisations in mind and that they are JB based
If you want full functionality, then all the ICS roms are good, just read thru the threads for the ROMs and devs description and screenshots and try the one according to need.. the latest one is numa and the first one is SCV7 which still is one of the best roms for our phone on ICS. If you ask me, you'll know which one to use only after youve flashed enough
Also remember to read the devs description of the ROM and how to flash properly, cause you need to use different recoveries for different ROMs. So better if you read up as much as you can. Do keep a backup of your stock ICS on ur sdcard, (i have like 3 now stock, cm10, numa) but you know how it goes, since youre already on a ROM..
Mostly youre gonna love your phone more after you get on ICS and flash one of the ICS and JB roms. Happy flashing !
EDIT: i missed it, but better if you post questions in the Q&A thread..
Thanks for the reply. I'll try CM10.
When installing ICS, will all I need to do is install .zip Blur_Version.55.13.25.MB865.ATT.en.US.zip? for ICS leak#1 or will I have to downgrade first?
