Bit of confusion - Samsung Infuse 4G

So I've been reading since I did my root and flashed infusion 1.8 I'm wanting to mess around with custom roms I was seeing there is an miui it says it's 2.3.5 based my question is do I have to have ginger bread to flash this rom is that what it means when it's 2.3.5 based? I've googled and looked around the forums and couldn't really find anything on the subject so even a link would help I dont mind reading for myself thx guys

If you feel you are a noob, I would recommend non miui or non cm9 roms.

why would that be? and are the non miui cm9 roms as fun or as cool? i really just wanna try improving my battery life i dont even have my phone overclocked right now and it uses battery like crazy ive tried undervolting and it didnt do anything but shut my phone down even on the lowest settings.

and just for future reference if it says there 2.3.5. based or whatever os base they are does that mean i have to be updated to flash it?

No need to update since it is an " update" if your rooted and all that good stuff and flash a Gingerbread ROM you will now have Gingerbread

Enomther's AOSP is your best bet. But that's a donut ROM. If you want Eclair, I would go with HTCClay's Superbad series.
Goodluck.

For a senior member you should know your question doesn't belong in development section. Move to general or question section. Emonthers ASOP is your best best bet

His recent one is wonderful for me. But I guess Enomther's official Donut would be the answer to your problem. Or you can try SuperCSDI as a donut ROM alternative.

he's right, and actually his Super D ROM has been the most stable ROM ever. I dont understand that comment, tell you the truth I dont like that comment. The only ROMS that have issues are the Hero and Legend ROMS, and they've come a long way.
Why ROOT your phone, if you want stock, stay stock. There is absolutely no need to waste your time and any Devs time with looking for a stock ROM. To speed things up and get this thread closed here Amon_RA RAv1.6.3 Donut ROM is really the only STOCK roote ROM there is. Nothing added, completely clean.
"Why ROOT your phone, if you want stock, stay stock. There is absolutely no need to waste your time and any Devs time with looking for a stock ROM."
Actually, One main reason to root your phone - "Apps to SD"
If stock ROM had it, I believe many wouldn't feel the need to flash.
Lack of storage for installed apps is the only drawback I see to a stock ROM.
Why that particular feature was left off the G1 really boggles the mind.

(REQ) stock tmo us 2.3.4 rooted

since there seems to be so much confusion about this update for those of us that are on stock 2.3.3 rom and are rooted and s off revolutionary , i would like to request a rooted stock version of 2.3.4 since i don't know what would happen if i try to apply this ota update with my situation. thanks
No one has it yet. Most of the people posting links to download isn't even the full ROM.

Full ROM isn't needed to make a rooted version of an update.
I've had a Nexus One and a Nexus S, they're quicker over there.
simple request, maybe its useless for you then don't read it ****...I don't want a custom one, I like stock and I'm sick of people like you on these forums that criticize people for wanting a stock rooted rom and don't want all the extra tweaks. Worry about what your running and not everyone else

Amen to that, about the custom ROMs...You custom ROMers are just pushing us stock ROMers further away. The only custom ROM, aside from having this one tailored to us noobs with S-oFF, CWM, and root, that I want is CM7.
Enough pushing already! We know where to go if we want a ROM. Seriously, I dont understand this peer pressure BS? Is there money involved? WTF is it? Why do people here give a crap about whether or not someone has a custom ROM over stock?

I agree. And those people pushing us to use custom roms must think that they're cool just cause they're using custom roms. Funny, when you go to the custom rom threads that they're pushing us to use, they have tons of issues and problems too! A lot more than the stock rom ones. And yet they tell you to install custom roms when you post having issues with the stock one, like they don't already have their own. I myself use custom roms every once in a while, I admit. But for reliability on the gps, camera, MMS size etc., I always go back to my nandroid backup. Custom roms are just for aesthetics and not too reliable as some of these fanatics are claiming. Also, my nandroid sensation with bloat removed is just as fast or even faster than most of these custom rom ones. And more reliable.

[Q] is there a rom like this.....?

is there a rom that has sense but dosnt have the 3d effect?i think the 3d affect is laggy on the sensation? if not is there away i can go in the system and disable it some how?
use android revolution, or P3D. no lag at all
There is also "ultra smooth Rosie" that removes it. It is included in the new InsertCoin, but there is also a stand alone apk floating around. Search the development forum for it. Like I said, I saw it in the InsertCoin thread.

Yeah unless the ROM you are using has it's own modified Rosie. In that case it will still work but you would lose those original modifications.

[Q] Galaxy Skyrocket Custom Rom

Hello All,
I am a total newbie to all of this, I just bought a Galaxy s2 Skyrocket. I managed to find good info on how to root it and did that with something called superoneclick. So it is showing rooted with out the yellow triangle. Now for my question.
There are so many custom roms out there i have no clue what to do. All i am really looking for is a custom rom that will let me do the following if it is possible, wifi tethering, custom bootanimation and if it will let me overclock. And I guess something that is stable as i see mentioned on here a lot.
Anyway anyone that has time to help a newbie I would really appreciate it. There is a lot of great info on here but most of it is written for people that at least have a clue about this stuff.
Most of all i want to say thank you to anyone who is willing to help me in advance. And if you don't feel like helping a newbie I do understand that also.
Thank You
I like skyROCKeteer. It's a good, stable, custom rom. It'll suit all your needs. Check it out. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19279400

First of all thank you for your reply. Am I reading this correct that I install version 2.0 and then install the addons and fixes? Or will everything be fine with the 2.0 and the fixes are already in there. Sorry to be so much trouble some of it is just confusing to me and I dont want to brick "i believe that is the correct term" my phone.
Thank You

SkyRocketeer and Sky Ice Cream Sandwich are pretty good. Next one I will be testing out will be the Red Sonja!
Red sonja is the best. Completly stable and fast. Vibrate does not work. But other then that its its perfect.
I'm using Super Stock 2.3.6. It's a rather bare bones ROM that is close to stock but with a few tweaks and removals of stuff like bloatware and other things. Overall I'm satisfied. I'm using this until the AOSP is released and some of the other ROMs become a bit more stable.
I'm using Sky Ice Cream Sandwich, it's my daily driver. Whichever rom you install, make sure you follow the dev's instructions. Only install roms for skyrocket, very important.
Most Roms in the Dev section are Stable-ish.
Red Sonja is probably the MOST stable in my OP.....less vibration, you dont have to do any work arounds, no extra flashing less the 4 intitial flashes( really 2 flashes if you dont want the comic pages)
but after that, everything is working as it would be on stock.
Thank You
First of all again thanks to everyone that gave me advise. I know have my first custom rom on my phone with the addons that looked interesting. Also a custom kernel.
I only have one question if i decide to try another rom, is there a way to go back to the way i have my phone now with out doing each step again. Like if i use the backup feature in CWM, If i do a restore will that put it back the way it is now.
Thank you ALL !!!!!

That's the point of doing the Nandroid backup. It'll restore your phone to how it was. At least that's what it's supposed to do. I honestly can't attest to it because I've never had to do it *knock on wood*

To use ICS roms you have to upgrade to ICS first.
As for roms, it's all personal opinion what is best. If HDMI/lapdock support isn't essential for you, I would recommend CM10.

Uhh..no CM10 is actually really stable. There are a couple really minor bugs left.. but it's Jelly Bean so it's smooth as butter (project butter) and is well worth the tiny bugs.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1869692
yeah, cm10 is very stable.. no random reboots or anything for me.. sure it has a few bugs, but nothing to stop you from using it as your daily driver. Actually what keeps making me go back to cm10 is that its so friggin smooth and ofcourse the little customisations you can do and themes..
For the OP, I dunno much about the GB roms, but id recommend both cm10 and and magicmod with performance and customisations in mind and that they are JB based
If you want full functionality, then all the ICS roms are good, just read thru the threads for the ROMs and devs description and screenshots and try the one according to need.. the latest one is numa and the first one is SCV7 which still is one of the best roms for our phone on ICS. If you ask me, you'll know which one to use only after youve flashed enough
Also remember to read the devs description of the ROM and how to flash properly, cause you need to use different recoveries for different ROMs. So better if you read up as much as you can. Do keep a backup of your stock ICS on ur sdcard, (i have like 3 now stock, cm10, numa) but you know how it goes, since youre already on a ROM..
Mostly youre gonna love your phone more after you get on ICS and flash one of the ICS and JB roms. Happy flashing !
EDIT: i missed it, but better if you post questions in the Q&A thread..
Thanks for the reply. I'll try CM10.
When installing ICS, will all I need to do is install .zip Blur_Version.55.13.25.MB865.ATT.en.US.zip? for ICS leak#1 or will I have to downgrade first?
