Back-up NAND using CWM compare back-up EFS?
Hi, excuse me. Whats the different back-up NAND using CWM compare back-up EFS?? Which better? Which more important? I'm sorry my english is not perfect. I'm just noob newbie(beginner). Thanks very much. Appreciate.
They both are important!
The nand is usually what holds your rom and data. Your EFS however usually hold programing information such as IMEI or MEID and on cdma phones tower information and 3g keys and authentication information, basically whats on a GSM sim.
today i rooted my new Note 2 with tool kit and after booting back i lost the mobile network
i was about to take EFS backup after rooting but immediately i lost the network and IMEI showing as 0 ,

Save EFS on Mac Os
Hi,
I managed to modify a bit your Linux version and run it under Mac OS Lion
Here is the package in any case you want to add it to the OP.
I changed the adb binary, and removed some commands which weren't running well on Mac
Please note I did not test the restore function, but due to the very little modifications, it should work as well as the backup
Fantastic

When busybox and root modes are enabled, you can make dumps of your nand partitions and export Kernel and initramfs (Menu/Tools)

How can i dump the roofs?
can i restore it after backup?
Thank you.
This tool execute this command :
dd if=/dev/block/<partition> of=/sdcard/<partition>.raw ibs=8192 obs=8192 conv=notrunc
So you can do the reverse command (not in the tool because dangerous)
Update v1.1 : You can create yaffs images now

Ok, thank you.
Ok, been using this for a while now; couple suggestions.
1. Copy feature needs to work more like Root Explorer.
---- So when you long-press and copy a file, two buttons popup, Paste and Cancel - Maybe you could even add a third to paste quickly to a favourites folder without leaving working directory ?
2. Be able to change text size of file browser. I have big fingers heh.
3. Have a Mount/Unmount button similar to the Mount R/W in Root Explorer.
--- I find I cant copy anything to anywhere, am I just missing something ?
4. Select multiple files, and copy, delete, zip, move . . . . . to favourites ?
5. Compress files or folders and save zip to a saved favourites without leaving working directory.
6. Load apk icons maybe; easier to find things sometimes.
7. Show favourites picker on program startup. I'm always working in the same directories.
A built in text editor with line numbers would be awesome. Maybe an sqlite editor addon too ?
I like what this looks like so far; I really like that you can see symlinks, the dropdown with recent paths, nandroid dumps of any partitions (nice), and the favorites are cool. Just hoping it can take over for root explorer.
Keep up the great work so far. Will be keeping on eye on this for sure.
Thanks for your report
First, i dont want to copy Root Explorer or all these slow and "3 lines" explorers... So no image/movies preview... This tool is focused on system files exploration
Apk icons maybe but not in my prority (filter by name is nice), line size : not for the moment (maybe a zoom or something later)
The multiselect on click is almost ready (for files), to keep folder navigation
the Mount/Unmount will be in tools menu later (in mounted devices menu) i need to make a new window for that... but that need work (and could make lot of reports from unknown devices, like chinese ones)
Compression.... yea hmm v2.0
Hm. I tried this, but it is a lot slower than Root Explorer. Perhaps this is because it shows a lot more objects, or due to it having a lot of features I do not directly associate with a program to manage files. Still, I can not say that having more competition is a bad thing, so keep up the good work
its because the tool use a terminal process to list folders, and a new one on each refresh... I think i can optimize that if i keep the shell process opened.
but Root enabled, its 5x slower (220ms instead of 40ms)... i think there could be a problem with superuser tool, will try to uninstall it to check...

to remount In fact like others :
Code:
mount -o rw,remount,relatime -t rootfs rootfs /
This feature will be available in some minutes (v1.3.0)
But to dump... you need to skip /proc /tmp and /sys
Hi.
I´m using your app in a Samsung galaxy S.
I lost one file and I want to recover it from a CWM backup.
Your app lets me read the backup, but I cant save the needed file ...
Is there a possibility to extract it from the backup?
Thanks in advance
Its the next step yaffs extraction...
sorry, not for the moment (but soon)
just made an update v1.3.2 which really enhance exploration speed...
I hope you release it soon
Thanks
I can't Dump Partition. A circular thing shows up then it disapear and no text saying records in+out and that it finished (like in the screenshot). And there is no file on my SD card and yes I have plenty of space.
Tried several of the small 512k partitions and the Boot and Recovery partitions.
I'm running rooted froyo 3.4.2-155, few bloat APK's removed.
this feature uses busybox "dd" applet, try to set another busybox in setting window
you can search for them in other apps, do a search in /data/data/

This Method Is The method Used By Me For deodexing Gingerbread XXKPE .I used This Method Because I was Not able to install BusyBox (ie The cp command didn't Work.so I was not able to copy the deodexed files to phone .So That the phone did not boot, stuck at the booting time).
Use This Method If Every Method For Deodexing Fails.
Steps
1.) flash to new XXKPE gingerbread Rom
2.) Root Your Phone
3.) download xUltimate-v2.2.8 xUltimate-v2.2.8
Note: You can use the already deodexed files by downloading this link Download Deodexed System Files [COMPLETE] then Goto step 11
4.) Unzip xUltimate v2.2, and launch "Main.exe"
5.) If everything goes well xUlt should recognize the phone and make a connection. You now should see a list of options.
6.) Run option 1. After option 1 is done, run option 2.
7.) Now these well take a while. Run option 3.
8.) IMPORTANT: After you have run option 3
9.) Now run option 4, and wait.
10.) Exit xUltimate, and put the phone in USB debugging Mode
11.) Download QtADB_0.8.0_windows_with_libs.zip
QtADB_0.8.0_windows_with_libs.zip
12.) Open It QtADB (left side - Browse to the xultimate folder, Right Side System folder)

}
13.) copy all the in the done_app folder to the app folder in the phone side
14.) type odex in the filter textbox (phone side) and you will see all the odex files.select all and delete them
15.) copy all the files in done_frame to framework folder in the phone side
16.) type odex in the filter textbox (phone side) and you will see all the odex files.select all and delete them
17.) Reboot
Note 1: Rebooting Will take some time .its due to the new caching of files
Note 2: If Copying Get Stuck At somewere ,NO PROBLEM just Recopy The files Until all files are copied
Forget deodoxed process, and thank you brother for This explorer for windows, and I searched a lot for something like this but didn't find any application.
Thanks....

How To Set Up ADB/USB Drivers for Android Devices
So most people won’t have to use ADB (Android Debug Bridge) ever, but if you want to learn how or want to get a little more technical with your Android phone, here’s how to get it set up.
I. Setting Up The SDK
1. Download the Latest Android SDK from Google
Android SDK
2. Extract the Android SDK .Zip file to C:\AndroidSDK (this should name the new folder created AndroidSDK in the C directory.
3. On your phone, click Settings > Applications > Development and make sure USB Debugging is on.
4. Plug your phone into your computer via USB cable (it needs to be on). It should say installing drivers if using Windows.
!UPDATE 12.01.09 – If using Windows 7 skip steps 4 and 5 and use this procedure instead.
5. After it installs the drivers, goto the Start menu and type cmd into the search bar (Vista or higher) or click Run then type in cmd (XP) to open the command prompt.
6. Type the following into the command prompt window (hitting enter at the end of every line):
cd\
cd AndroidSDK\tools\
adb devices
browse the C:\AndroidSDK\tools\ as the path whe QtADB asks

Nice tool, restored my nvram.tar, no more baseband unknown, thanks again.
nice tool concept. is this only saving files to /sdcard/? because on newer devices with emulated storage, sdcard or microsd is mounted as sdcard1, so when doing backup on my phone it goes back instantly on backup/restore/exit menu
thanks.

Well you had downloaded a lot of apps via play store and you had no backup of these apps...
Then you came across a ROM or you decided to wipe out your data....
And the result...
You lost your apps!
Now you don't need to worry as I bring you the ultimate solution to extract and restore apps & other files from your backup!
So let's get started....
Things you will need:
A Good Advanced File Manager..
I suggest and strongly recommend you to use ROOT EXPLORER app.
I know you have it!
Now extracting of files depends upon which recovery you are using....
For TWRP users::
Go to the TWRP folder in your sdcard where the backup ie present..
Now if you want to extract downloaded apps n other files then Copy " data.ext4.emmc.win " don't take the md5 file! and paste it somewhere else...
Now rename the file by just adding " tar.gz " at the last ...
It should now look like this:
data.ext4.emmc.win.tar.gz
Now long press it and click "Extract All"
or simply extract it...
Now after the completion of extraction you will get all tha files from that backup...
Now to restore apps simply go to the " app " folder..
You will see all the apps in that...
Now to install them all at once just copy all the files and paste them here at the root
/data/app
Now reboot ...
It will show a message android is upgrading ..
Optimizing app 1 of 3X
Wait till it completes...
And guess what you got all your apps back....
To restore the settings of these apps copy their respective folder from tge extract to
/data/data
Similarly you can extract system partition too!
For CWM/philz touch users::
YOU TOO CAN USE THE ABOVE METHOD BUT IF IT FAILS THEN TRY THIS ONE..
Go to SD card/clockworkmod and copy your file according to your need what you want to extract..
To extract and restore apps copy:
"data.ext4.tar.a" to somewhere else
DO NOT COPY data.ext4.tar!!!!
Now rename the file by just adding " tar " at the last ...
It should now look like this:
data.ext4.tar.a.tar
Now long press it and click "Extract All"
or simply extract it...
Now after the completion of extraction you will get all tha files from that backup...
Now to restore apps simply go to the " app " folder..

Huh!*******
Hope it helps you....

THANKS
Hi AlphaSoft, I'm trying to use your method on a TWRP data only backup. But apparently the backup was made in 5 parts each of close to 1.5GB. None of them are named data.ext4.emmc.win . Instead they are named data.ext4.win000 .... data.ext4.win004.
Must I extract them all?
Not working

Doesn't seem to work for me. My backups have upto 6 files ...data.ext4.win000, data.ext4.win001, data.ext4.win002, ......data.ext4.win005 each around 1.5gb
I have question, can this work when there are data.ext4.a, data.ext4.tar.b, data.ext4.tar.c, data.ext4.tar.d, data.ext4.tar.e, data.ext4.tar.f, data.ext4.tar.g, data.ext4.tar.h, data.ext4.tar.i, data.ext4.tar.j, data.ext4.tar.k ?
thank you.

I extracted the multi volumes data backup from a TWRP backup, after I extracted all of the files, I copied the data/app and the data/data contents into the respective folders of the new rom installation
But the booting process didnt show any upgrading message nor any of the apps detected by the new installation ?
Hi guys, I would like to know how I can extract these files and make the flash in sp flash tool, can someone help me please?
I have a backup of my Redmi 6 (Cereus) which has a briqued system, but before I did a full nandroid backup with twrp.
I can restore the stock rom and the phone goes back to normal but without imei, baseband, nvram or nvdata.
I would like to know how can I extract at least the nvram and nvdata file and flash it in sp flash tool.
That's my only difficulty.
I have an authorized Xiaomi account
Unlocked bootloader
Mediatek Drivers OK
EDL Mode Ok
USB Filters OK
Updated Win7 Operating System and no dependencies.
Stock Rom MIUI (Multiple Versions)
Flash MTK Tools
I thank you all!
