not possible, if you looked around you would know it relies on the touchwiz framework.
As he said the stock camera needs the touchwiz framework so it could he possible, but probably a pain. However check this out. Its still the AOSP camera, but adds the features if the stock camera.

no need to be an ass bro. im pretty sure it relies on TW. it was a shot in the dark question plus, i've searched for many things on xda and found nothing ... and sometimes when asking a simple question there's that 1 person out of 340958329584439589 member that may have the solution.

Yep, I've downloaded that. about to flash it now. so pretty almost the same functions as the stock tw s3 cam.

No problem. And I have tried that note gallery (on jellywiz) it was nice.

and along the same token, your lack of concern for preserving the awesomeness of the camera is your opinion and, I imagine, not one that is held widely by the MT4GS userbase.
one of the selling points of this phone is the camera... and that goes out the window with the AOSP camera app. before this phone, I wouldn't have cared either, but since it has such a capable setup out of the box for being a point and shoot replacement, it seems like a waste to toss that just to get an AOSP rom.
Before jumping to conclusions about the built in Camera software versus the third party camera apps available on the market, we should test them out first.
I'm absolutely certain that there will be apps out there in the future that will be able to control the entire camera in this phone. The only question is when. That being said I only care in so far as being able to turn the flash on and off. I'm usually taking pictures in default settings though I might turn the flash off.
The Sense 3.0 camera app is the same as the one we have on the MT4GS, and as long as we run a version of Sense 3.0 we shouldn't have any problems. AOSP would be nice, but I'd like to have the nice camera functionality, and honestly I loved Virtuous Fusion ROM running Sense 3.0, I can't imagine how fast it would be on this device!
Yeah, the camera is something that I really want working on a custom rom. coming from the cliq though, everything seems fast stock on this phone.
I can't wait for Cyanogenmod on this phone. It really opened up my 3G slide with all kinds of cool stuff. When 3G slides were bearly getting official 2.2 Froyo from HTC, I had gingerbread for a while. I can imagine this bad boy running 3.1 or even the 4.0 that's supposed to be out soon!
Loved CM on my 3G slide, but I *personally* would not want to part with the functionality of the camera. Now if workarounds are discovered than that is a different story.
This phone is so much better out of the box than the 3G slide was though.

While we wait for cyanogen, are there other ROMs that work on the slide4g that people can recommend? The tmobile crap I can't uninstall is really getting on my nerves
I've been using Undeadk9's Doubleshot v0.5 with no problems so far. It's deMyTouched so it seems to fit what you're looking for.

Just because something isn't CM7 doesn't mean it isn't a good ROM. People need to pay respect to those developing ROMs other than CM7 and MIUI as well, if it weren't for them we would still be on the stock rom with S-ON. Give this ROM a shot, I've been running it for a while and it is much better than the shipped rom and has full camera functionality.
The reason we don't have cm7 support is because there is no source code yet. You stuck with sense until then. Complain to HTC not within xda.

Wasn't complaining. Was just asking if any work was done. I found this article through a Google search and then did some forum searching after posting. Sad that the source for the kernel has to be released first. But if that ROM is more AOSP and has full camera functionality, it might be worth rooting my phone over.
is there any rom or launcher for the skyrocket i727 that uses the touchwiz nature ux, with all the icons and screens almost exactly like the galaxy S3?
search only turns up the sky jelly bean rom, but that has different (nexus) app icons and is different in other features.
i saw that the salman ics rom comes close to the S3 rom... but that's available for the galaxy S2, couldn't find it for skyrocket
please suggest something, as I'm sure at least something has to be out there. doesn't matter if it's ics or jelly bean.
any help is appreciated.

thanks. without your link i never would've found it!
so i flashed cm10 to use it.
but it didn't change the contacts, phone or notification bar style from the default cm style
those are kinda important to me. any way to accomplish that?

Well I haven't read the OP closely enough to know if it was supposed to change those. You could try searching for a CM10 "theme chooser" TouchWiz theme. I know there's some out there.

I believe it can be achieved, because some gapps have their own custom version of the cameras.
If you have the Camera.apk, try to overwrite the current apk after making a backup first, of course.
I asked this same question a long time ago and was told the framework involved would be to extensive. It does work the other way around though. 4.2 camera on touch wiz. I wish it could be done. Probably one of the biggest reasons I still use TW and not aosp

Thanks for reply guys. This is def the ONLY thing holding me back from switching to CM or any AOSP/AOKP ROM. I use my camera A LOT and the features on the TW camera are awesome, I can't give them up.
Yeah I think the camera is one of the main reasons a lot of us don't switch. It is for me. I haven't even tried aosp yet. I just know I'd miss the TW camera.

Guys, did you ever think about porting galaxy s4 rom on our device? that'd be great if you port Touchwiz 4.2.2.
Can't be done. We can get certain apps but not a whole ROM their debloated stock software is 1.4gigs.

Oh I see, But that would be great if someone could make that worked. I know that certain apps will not work on our device because of S4's different hardware, but some features like the gestures while in gallery or quick notification when phone is locked will worked because its just the censor on the left side of earpiece, maybe that could worked. I just cant afford s4 so I wish maybe we could get an update of 4.2.2 touchwiz even if other apps or features would not work, I just the love the S4's Rom, that's all.

We will not get 4.2.2 touchwiz I promise you. Its unlikely you will see half of the features you want actually and its likely going to be due to the fact we aren't on 4.2.2.

Hey everyone, I'm new to the Samsung community but not new to XDA. Unfortunately my droid razr decided to stop working on me today and I had to purchase a new phone so I went with the galaxy s3. This is my first samsung phone. I already have rooted the phone and unlocked the bootloader following one of the guides on this forum. So far after one day I am quite satisfied with the galaxy s3. I am now faced with a decision with what ROM to use on the phone, so I am posting here to get input on what ROMs you guys think are the best. Thanks in advance.

if you like touchwiz check out the options in the development forum. theres also some AOSP options there that you might be used to.
the original development has AOSP optinos too.
every rom runs different on each phone so read up and try a few!

dpeneds what you like. if you like the touchwiz features checkout a touchwiz rom. ify ou want AOSP go that route.
try both for a few days and see which you like better.

Hyperdrive is good. I have not tried ls 2.9 but i did flash 2.8 for a short time but the battery drain was awful. Touchwiz roms have much better battery life which woud probably be good for you since you like to play games. Hyperdrive also has an aosp theme in aroma if you like the look of aosp over stock tw (which i personally do). But everyones different and the best way to know is to try both. Its easy to change if you dont like it.

Hyperdrive is touchwiz. Jelly "Beans" and Dandroid are also touchwiz but themed to look aosp out of the box. Alot of the touchwiz roms can be themed either to look like aosp or some other theme.

There is no such thing as a Best ROM
Best way is to try them to find out which is best for YOU. What theme you find pleasing, what gives YOU the best battery based on YOUR usage and signal strength. Just read through the top page of ROMs and try a few.
