[Q] Tomtom on incompatible Android devices - General Questions and Answers

Having waited for eternity, TomTom's new android app isn't compatible with hi-res screens such as One S, One X, S3 etc.
Can anyone come up with a method of making the app visible and downloadable from the Play store on my rooted One S?

com.android.nfc3

Today I was poking around in TiBu trying to get just a little more life outta the battery by freezing and uninstalling crapware. When I scrolled to the bottom and found the crap I had already uninstalled and found that com.android.nfc was uninstalled. However I don't recall removing it, it says no backup available, and I don't know if I want it uninstalled.
Is this necessary to be able to use NFC? I have tried to use it in the past, but (I think mainly due to user error) I could never get it to work. Could this be the reason why? Or is this a leftover from GB? If this IS needed to use the NFC on the phone, how do I get it back? Assistance is greatly appreciated!!

Hi!
If I searched correctly, it looks like com.android.nfc3 has been renamed to com.android.nfc, si it might just be an old file. You also should check if there is an Nfc Service running in the apps manager when you try to use NFC.

Can somebody get the optimum TV app/apk for me.

It is a free app that just came out that streams if you're on your home network ( have to be one of their subscribers) but the official supported devices list is small.
The gs3 is one of the supported ones though. I want to side load the apk on other devices to see if it works on them.

I second this request. It says it works on the Verizon Galaxy Nexus but not the Google Galaxy Nexus...so I am guessing it is only a deal they made and not a real compatibility issue.
Update: Nevermind found a thread with it I believe going to try it now: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34929215&postcount=1
Update2: It works on my rooted Xoom LTE (on WiFi) and on unrooted Galaxy Nexus

[Q] [PLEASE HELP] iPod Alternative??!!??

Alright so I recently sold my iPod Touch 5g in search of a new media player that can also run on Wi-Fi and has a bigger screen. I also was tired of iOS so Android was my next option.
I bought the Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0 which looked like a bargain at first but lags like hell and has terrible pixel density. The icons look disgusting...
Could someone recommend me a phone that could be used without a contract, as just a media player? The Galaxy Nexus, Nexus S, & Nexus 4 are some of my choices but I'd like more opinions. I want a sleek looking device. Which would you recommend?
A million thanks to anyone who helps me out.

[Q] Is there anyway to put HTC music apk to Samsung or any other devices?

Well I like using the HTC m7 music app and well I own a note 3 and I was wondering if there is anyway to port it or install it to my device?
This thread was dedicated to porting HTC apps to non-HTC phones.

Gear S2 connection with non-samsung phones?

Hi all,
I'm looking at buying my first smart watch and the gear s2 seems to tick all the boxes for me. However, I've come across the gear app and plugin app in the play store and the reviews are terrible, with users bringing up issues with connectivity dropouts and the like.
I just wondered on your experiences on non-samsung phones with the S2?
(I'm on Nexus 6P, non rooted, 7.1.1)
Cheers!

I have a GS2 Classic paired to a Moto Droid Turbo 2. Generally, no problems.
Occasional disconnects after upgrading to Nougat, but less than one/week.

There are few differences in features available on the watch when using Samsung phone vs other brands. I know this first hand because I switched from a LG to a Samsung. But don't take my word for it, here's a chart that highlights the differences.

Fine on xperia Z5C
All go fine on p9 lite. No issues and good connectivity.
However you can pair with all Android (4.3+) and at least 1.5GB of RAM. I read that you can pair the watch to smartphones with 1GB of RAM, but you have to modify Samsung Manager apk, see https://forum.xda-developers.com/gear-s2/help/pair-gear-s2-moto-g-t3323385.
Yes you can use it with smartphone that has 1GB of RAM, but you need to use a modified Samsung Gear app.
Modified Samsung Gear app is available on my blog, I will try to update it as frequently as possible.

First experience I connect Gear S2 to Sony Xperia Z3 compact. Connection without problem but Gear app crashed. I solve it by installing older version of Gear app from APK mirror ( app from april 2016). It have no limitation. It was probably caused by ROOT.
Next I connect it to Moto Z play. No problem at all.

App purchases are tied to your Samsung account, not the device. They only need be purchased once. Devices can be changed at will.
