[Q] BOOTLOOP please help :( - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

Hello everyone, I am looking for some help !!!
I have been using embryo for quite some time and no issues.... I have a i727R and just out of the blue today I was using it and it auto rebooted on me.... now it is in a bootloop... just boots to the samsung logo and then reboots (viberating over and over) with no screen indication
I can not get into CWM recovery either.... I have never had this happen to me ever and I am worried... I am on the road right now and XDA is my only source for help... can ANYONE please give me any suggestion how maybe I can get this phone working? I have a bad gut feeling I am going to have to go buy a new one for retail
anything at all would be great
Thank you
I did not change anything on embryo , it has been working for months 5.0 .5.1 and 5.2 just running stock embryo, no modifications to kernals or anything no overclocking nothing, just as is
PLEASE help I would love your for it and willing to donate if required
I can not access download mode either... i get the prompt to access download mode and the phone just reboots on me again
i popped out the batt for a good 20min ... i turn it on.... i get the I727R splash screen, then the samsung logo... then it vibes and reboots and keeps vibeing over and over .....
I put batt in it boots I hold volume down..... i get the screen for download mode, and once the full screen displays it just reboots and vibes over and over .... i think it might be bricked or pouched... but i didnt do anything to it which is what is bothering me.... im just looking for ways now to odin it to restore stock ... but i dunno how to fix this
I plug it into usb as well and it just vibes and vibes over and over again

Sounds like a stuck power button. Take a needle and carefully work around the edges of the power button to dislodge whatever debris is holding it down. There are also a couple of guides on here you can search for that'll show you other ways of handling it.

Did you keep mashing it down like vincom said to do? Trust me, this is a well-known and very common problem with Skyrockets.

yes it is not the power button..... cant be .... i mashed and used a needle and everything.... i go to download mode and hit vol up to enter it and she just reboots on me

if i plug the phone in with or without the battery it just vibes over and over again, doesnt even boot up once ..... but when i boot it with battery this is what happens
1 - put battery in phone
2 - first samsung splash screen (i727R)
3 - second samsung screen (2-3 seconds)
4 - reboot
5 - vibes over and over (no screen indication) continuous vibe
I am dead in the water on this problem (I was just using the phone like normal answering an sms and while typing it just rebooted on me and this issue above happened.
1 - put battery in phone
2 - hold volume down
3 - download mode spash screen
4 - auto reboots (vibe over and over) (no screen)
1 - put battery in phone
2 - hold volume up and down (CWM)
3 - reboots (vibe over and over) (no screen)
1 - battery removed
2 - plug in via USB (charger)
3 - no screen (vibe over and over) (no screen)

That alone has me convinced it's a stuck power button. Defenders are great for keeping your phone from being smashed, but they trap all kinds of dirt and dust underneath them. Almost positive your problems are being caused by a speck of something or other that got forced way down into your phone's housing and is holding your power button down internally.

I managed to open the phone and there is no issue with the power button being stuck .... It is now looking more like a software issue.... I can not access download mode or cwm perhaps with some of the issues i was having with the rom just made the phone go stupid and get caught in a boot loop not to doubt the rom ... just saying everything was fine for months and the phone just decided to auto restart on me and this happened

[Q] Phone won't stay in download mode?

I'm having some weird problems getting the phone into download mode. If I hold down voldown + power + trackball, the phone goes into download mode and is recognized, but then leaves download mode about 5 seconds later. The screen goes black and the charging screen turns on for a few seconds and then also goes black. If I just plug in the phone to charge, the charging screen turns on for a few seconds and then cycles with a black screen.
Is there something up with the charging circuitry? Is it possible to get the phone to stay in download mode?
Try doing the forced download mode method
Are you talking about the volume down + trackpad? Same thing happens, download mode screen flashes for ~5 seconds, phone turns off, starts flashing charging screen.
I also have a download mode jig, but that isn't working either.
Also, new development: the phone won't even turn on now when I hold down the power button. Bad battery?
No he means pull battery, connect usb, hold power, volume up, volume down, camera, and tackpad and insert battery. It should FORCE the phone into download mode.
Sent from the phone everyone has forgotten about!
That works, but I still get kicked out of DL mode after about 5 seconds. The issue was never getting into download mode--all button combinations work for that--but the problem is I get kicked out of it after a few seconds.
Hmmmm. I think its probably a bad battery.
Sent from the phone everyone has forgotten about!
Alright. I'll definitely check that out and get a new battery.
Got the battery today. Unfortunately, still the same problem! The Sidekick boot screen now displays in place of the battery charging screen, but I still get kicked out after 5 seconds.
Damn, well the only thing I can think is a problem with the board not receiving enough power. But I don't know, maybe someone else can help you better.
Sent from the phone everyone has forgotten about!
Another thread reminded me...
Fixed the problem! Seemed to be a ribbon cable or some sort of loose connection. I opened up the phone (all the way), removed the RF shield, unplugged all the ribbon/connector cables (minus the one for the camera) and removed the whole board from the phone case. Checked the connections, put everything back together snugly. It now works like a charm.
same problem
would you make a tutorial on how to do this ?

Yeah i had the same problem iv been trying to go into recovery mode and safe mode. I cant do it im having the same exact problem. I get kicked out every 5 seconds but Redct has a point. There may not be enough power going to the phone. I may attempt at taking the phone apart extremely carefully. If this works ill post then its a manufacture problem for not assembling the phone right or not finding out that people do lots of things with their phone and the phones is just a bunch of computer componets wraped around a piece of plastic. Better quality phones must be sturdy.
So I attempted to take apart the phone and put everything back together and successfully booted. I it booted into the Android OS but then for some reason crashed and entered the boot loop again god this is irritating

I am having the same problem. I took the phone apart, but I couldn't figure out how to get the circuit boards out to unplug the ribbon wires, can you tell me what to do? I had the same problems a few weeks back, but it was staying in download mode then, but now it won't stay in download mode for more than 5 seconds. I got a new phone because of it(LG Optimus). I would really like to get my Sidekick going again though!

I'm attempting this fix. Got arround taking out the board and just need some help with what to do with the RF. I can't simply take it out and put it back, my guess. Any help is appreaciated. Like what kind of tool would I need for that? Thanks!
The RF shield or the RF 5000? I'm confused.
BTW... If anyone needs help with how to dismantle the phone, follow this thread. It can be found in General section.
I know this forum is ancient, but I'm working on an E-Bay phone with this exact issue. I found the following thread the most useful and informative on the problem:

dropped phone and cracked screen (still working, no issues)
today spilled my drink and was so worried cleaning my tablet that didn't see my phone was wet too.
actually once the case was off there was only really a little water on the screen, nothing obviously wet.
noticed screen had stayed on so hit power, it went off. power again and it did not come on, only 4 buttons at bottom illuminated but no screen.
OK I thought. power off and reboot. but now all it does is loop as shown above.
all I'm doing now is I've stripped the phone down. case off, back open, battery and sim out.
so far each time I've tried, even with no sim, same problem.
ideas?
thanks!

Where the screen was cracked when it got wet you most likely will have corrosion on your main board. The device will likely work until enough oxidation forms to prevent current being passed through. Just a friendly warning. Don't be surprised if you bring it to store and they find damage.

Phone does not turn on! Virus??

I have been rooted and using various roms for over half a year. I was using my phone and than my power button stopped functioning out of nowhere. I took my battery out and put it back in and it turned back on but the power button would sometimes work and sometime not. So I decided to reflash the rom so when i clicked the reboot button in my toggles and told to to go into recovery it turned off and did not go into recovery mode but instead it flashed the samsung logo briefly and said recovery booting at the top but it does not boot into recovery. I took the battery out and put it back in and it does the same thing just flashes the samsung logo once with the recovery booting and than goes dark. All this happened in 1 hour.
So i cant boot into recovery or get into download mode, and odin does not recognize that there is a device connected.
Help if you can.
So no lights at all? Take battery out. Hook phone into computer. What happens? Does you computer recognize it?

Unfortunately no. Plugged it into computer, press power button and it vibrates one second and charging LED (red) flashes once and thats it. Nothing shows up on device manager.
Plugged it into computer and turned ODIN on... no result. It doesnt recognize that there is a phone connected.
Guys please help a guy out? ive gone through so much posts lately on Google, please if anyone knows even a hint of something that could help please mention it
Thanks ahead of time
Tried another S3 battery, maybe that was the problem but no. Pressed power button, Samsung logo flashes for less then a second. Then everything goes blank.
Next time i hit power button with this battery from another S3, all that happens is that it vibrates, the red LED flashes once and thats it.
Have also tried all combinations of Power+Vol+Home. They get only a vibrate from the phone as if only hitting the power button.
So you need to reboot into recovery but it won't.. Hmm my volume button is broken so I downloaded Quick Boot from the store and it let's you boot into recovery pretty easily. If it does the same thing you described then.. Dunno.. Flash a new recovery or bootloader with Casual one click root unlock and recovery. Hopefully you saved an image file on your pc.

it sounds like the power button is your problem, like its stuck down. Can you tell if its sticking out about normal or does it seem shallow(like depressed a bit)?
edit:
I would try to place the phone on a good flat, hard surface and then try to boot into recovery and just barely put pressure on the power button in the process. Not trying to sound smart mouth but hold vol+ with left thumb and use any right finger to hold home then use left pointer to press power. Thus you can use just the minimum amount of pressure on the power button.
If you get any further than you have been , I would bet on the button being bad. If not it may have been a partition messup. I was using the trim feature and mine goofed up the partitions and had to repartition in odin and everything. If it isnt the button find a jtag and have it done.
Good luck, Hope you can get it fixed.

Ok I did that but no results...
But I did figure something out that I didn't know: ok so when the phone is lying flat on its back and I tap it moderately 3 times very quickly the phone vibrates once and flashes just the Samsung logo for a split second.... That happens without even pressing any of the buttons. And then everything goes black. Sometimes it will do the vibrate and Samsung logo and then the "Samsung Galaxy S3" logo will show for couple seconds. Then like always it goes black.
So this must mean some of the hardware inside is disrupted. Its been dropped many times on ground. Never cracked screen but it must be the hardware inside. Does that sound logical? Or does someone else have a theory?

Of course it sounds logical. You really should have mentioned the "dropped many times" right up front. No doubt it is physical damage. sucks sir. in the future, invest in a good case if you tend to drop your phone often....just sayin. or learn to not drop it? i don't know. sorry about your luck sir.

sounds like power button is broken, only you know if your comfortable taking it apart. But there are videos that are good. If you think you can what do you have to lose? It ain't working now so what's the difference. I would look for some teardown videos and power button replacement vids and see if you want to try. Find out how much a button would be and then decide.

VZW Galaxy S6 won't turn on

Got a perculiar problem with the S6. The screen suddenly went black with just the blue LED blinking in the upper left hand corner of the sreen. I am assuming the phone went off completely as I cannot access it via the PC also. I have tried all possible button combinations for reset but no luck so far.
Anyone else experience this? Did you find a fix?
Sent from my SM-G920V using XDA Free mobile app
Well the phone is not off if the blue led light is blinking, I've never had it happen to me where the phone didn't come back though. I was using an app one day (YouTube I think) and the app crashed and bugged the phone out to where the screen went black but the led was blinking. I left the phone alone after several attempts of hitting home and power to get the screen to come back on and finally I think I plugged it into the charger and it kind of just fixed it self and has not happened again. This is the scary parts of not having a removable battery.

I've got the 128GB and yes I have experienced this as well, twice! I hold down both volume buttons the home button and the power button at the same time, this will put you in maintenance mode. It'll take a couple of seconds holding those buttons but just keep them pressed. Be careful because when it does come on it comes on fast and factory reset is the second selection in that mode. The first time I did it I wiped my phone, the second time it happened I lifted my fingers fast enough not to make a selection. Give that a try and see what happens.

Sounds like you have the same problem as stated in OP. You could try doing what was recommended earlier in the thread. By the way, this is an inappropriate location to put your problem. Read the forum rules
Never rooted.
I am having the same issue. I have tried everything. Factory reset. Reboot/wiped cache and even trying to install verizon's Fireware again as it come only up to the Samsung S6 logo then goes blank. This is now my 4th replacement with Verizon and getting sick of it. How do I fix this? Odin stops at Get Pit mapping then when I do that says it can not install NAND. Using Odin 3.10.6 and 3.10.7. Tried mutli cables and restarted computer as well. This is driving me insane these phones keep doing this.
same problem except nothing comes on. no led, no reset, no computer recognition...
Same issue. Boots into and displays recovery fine and download mode. I can also bring up the safe mode menu ... just can't boot into the OS. Blue light on. I get a response in ADB when powered on, just can't enter any commands due to not being able to authorize access via phone screen.
Update:
Well as strange as it sounds, as soon as I plopped it down on the wireless charger for my S7 the screen came to life. It was at 95% battery prior to. Whatever gremlins got into the gizmos within the wireless charging apparatus seems to have caused this strange occurrence.

Black screen + green LED = Wtf..?

ok so last night i put my S7 (running latest RR rom) on charge.. woke up. walked over to pick up my fone.. found it, as one would expect.. green led on (showing its charged) with the screen off.. BUT.... for some or other reason.. this os the only state this #&$+#ing phone wants to be in now..
tried force restart.. (vol- and power)
tried 3 button method...
tried 4 button method...
tried recovery mode... (vol+ and power)
tried connecting to pc.... nothing....
NO JOY..
STILL STUCK WITH THAT CHEERFULL green light and a black screen...
suspecting a hardware failure
contemplating getting my hammer and using it as a very expensive one time only stress reliever...
maybe some1 got any other ideas before i go bob the builder on this #-$&$ing phone..
ok.. so... i fixed it..!! used a pocket knife.. thumb prick.. and a lighter...
but....
id suggest a heat gun or a hairdryer...(lighter)
prying tool... playing cards.. or guitar pick (pocket knife)
and a small Phillips (star) skrewdriver.. (modified thumb prick)
ok.. so.. heat up the back all along the sides..( not to much ) just till you can pry it open... and for the love of gawd..!!! BE GENTLE..!!!
AFTER you removed the back cover..
remove the top 3 skrews and clip out the plastic panel... (Gently..!!!)
then remove the skrews (4) holding the panel that looks like it covers the battery... and remove cover..
now...
follow the small cable that ends on the electronic board.. clip it off.. ( its at this point you can take out the battery if you wanted to)
clip that cable back in place.. and reverse do what ya just did...
(after checking if your phone switches on off course)
after you place the back cover ... just heat it again and apply some pressure just to stick that bastard back there... ? yea.. your very expensive phone's back cover is stuck on with adhesive... fkn glue.. anyway.. ya done.. shouldnt take ya 5min... (more if you have to modify a fkn thumb tic cause theres not a skrewdriver at work that size..lol)
hope this helps some1 somewhere...
I realise this is an old thread, but I wanted to share that I also had the black screen, green light of death issue.
Before anyone else with this problem rips their phone apart, you MAY NOT need to. I was able to exit this black screen of death and enter into recovery.
After following every sensible suggestion on the internet aside from phone surgery to no avail, I thought my only resort was to drain my phones battery. I hooked up an OTG cable to the S7, plugged in a cable for my Oneplus and it was charging away. I them decided this would be a good time to also try one of the key combinations, The first one I tried was to enter download mode. and VOILA, green light was stuck on still but I now had download mode on the screen. I then tried for recovery and was able to enter.
I hope this helps someone as well!

Happened today with my Note 8 SM-950F as well , since my backcover was already open for some other repair, I was able to disconnect battery and restore it back to working condition. However there should be a known button combination to recover from such BSOD with Green Solid LED , didnt try any of the known combos so far.
