Hi,
I have a LG P999dw from Wind mobile. It was running on stock Wind mobile ROM froyo and I wanted to upgrade to cyanogen mod so I used the one click rooter to root the device and then installed ROM manager from the app store.
Once in ROM manager I did the flash clockwork recoverymod and then the phone rebooted. After rebooting it was stuck in boot loop. So i booted to the recovery partition by pressing and holding vol down button while powering on. The screen said S/W Upgrade please wait while upgrading.
After doing some lookups on google I found one click recovery flasher using nvflash. I tried that several times to flash clockworkmod or even the stock recovery with no luck. Finally when I thought the phone is bricked I discovered this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1248644
I used this post and nvflashed the T Mobile stock rom GB 2.3.3 on the phone and it booted up just fine. Now it works excellent except the battery runs out a bit faster and whenever I try to boot to recovery partition it just gives the same message S/W Upgrade. I also tried this solution http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1590523 it ran successfully and wiped the phone but when I tried to boot into recovery still I got the same message.
So I relfashed the phone with the t mobile stock rom and I started working fine again but with no luck on installing CWM or stock recovery.
Please help!! I need to get this phone running the bionix rom that saves a ton of battery life. I am running it on another G2X and I get like 8 hours more battery juice from the phone.

Thank you for replying.
Tried the above repair. It gave the following error.
This version not supported v11h (image attached). Even though the phone shows software version v21e in the about phone section. Just wondering, his phone was originally wind mobile and running froyo so may be its original software version is written in some config file which has not been modified by the nvflash that I did.

You must have V21Y installed for the method I sent you to to work. You need to clean install a complete .kdz version of your choice by either using LG update or the offline update method.
I will try kdz method this weekend

I was thinking of trying the KDZ method too. I will try to lookup for a known working method this weekend and try it. I will let you know how it went. By the way I am also from Toronto. I live in Scarborough. Have a nice long weekend.
Recovery partition is till messed up.

Hi,
Sorry for the very late reply. This is what I tried, I download the lg tool to flash kdz files onto my g2x and also downloaded the kdz file for v21y. Everything went well, base band is good its now updated to march 2012. The phone works perfectly fine. The only problem is, when I boot to recovery the phone still says s/w upgrading. I tried NVFlash and onclick to load both stock or CWM. It loads everything successfully but when I try to boot to recovery, its the same old message.
I tried to root the phone using ADB (psneuter) but it does not support GB 2.3.5. And I want to install a custom rom to the phone. I was wondering if there is a way to fix the recovery partition somehow. Then I can load any rom I want.
Here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24635755, do this and this should fix your partition problem, then, flash away.

I just unrooted my nexus s (9020t) and returned it to stock. It came up with 2.3.1 originally and wanted to update it back to 2.3.3. I found the update drivers and tried to update it, and came up with the status 7 errors. If found the solutions, and tried to go from 2.3.1 to 2.3.2, than install the radio thing to 2.3.3. Up to 2.3.2, it came up with the same error and tried the last resort of updating it to the full 2.3.3 os.
After the update, the nexus s turns on to the google splash screen and hangs up there. I can still access the recovery by holding the volume up and power. I also tried to do factory reset, and wipe data. Nothing seems to help.
Any help?
I'm no expert by any means but you may have to use odin to get it going again. You will probably need to make a jig or buy one to get into download mode.
I hope this helps you and your able to get up and running again.

I'm totally new into the android community and have no idea what Odin or jig is.
Since the fastboot is working, is there something that I'm missing with resetting orders or something else? I found that some one did a wipe dalvik (I think) with factory reset and cache, but I cannot find the dalvik.

You dont need a jig to get into download mode
Aslong as the bootloader is unlocked
Power down phone hold volume up/down then plug in USB from computer ....in download mode
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
im thinking if you could still access the bootloader then you can still flash clockworkmod. when you get that running, flash any rom u want in clockwork including stock 2.3.3. no odin necessary.
As long as you can still use fastboot there's no need to use Odin or JIG to flash the ROM.
I assume that:
you already have clockworkmod recovery installed and it's working properly.
your phone model is I9020T (SAMOLED)
If those are correct, I'd suggest you to download the 2.3.3 OTA package and flash it via clockworkmod (use the menu "Install zip from sdcard")
After flashing you'll have 2.3.3 on GRI40 running. And if you want to continue updating to 2.3.4, there's a thread dedicated to the topic.
PROBLEM SOLVED! Big appreciation to sonnysekhon who helped me over the phone at 11 in the night!
I was guided to just unlock fastboot, load the cwr and go into usb storage, add the cyanogen mod 7 and voila, problem solved. Now my only problem is, I've got 2.3.3 and want to update it to 2.3.4. Is there any easy way to do this?
Again, I want to thank you guys for the help!

Are you on cm7 or stock?
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA Premium App
I'm on cm7. It shows the cyanogen mod splash screen during bootup and has rom manager, file manager preinstalled.
I'm not really savvy when it comes to android mechanics because I just moved from itouch and iphones to androids couple days ago.
First of all. Congratulations on making the best decision! Iphone sucks. Lol.
Anyway, you can't update to 2.3.4 yet since its only available on stock right now. We're gonna have to wait until devs incorporate it into their custom roms. I believe there is a nightly version of cm7 that is already 2.3.4 but its not as stable as the 2.3.3 yet. hope that helps.

During the process of rooting and modding my new Wind phone, I ran into a numbered of unanswered threads with people asking for the stock ROM image that came with the “Optimus 2k” phone provided by Wind in Canada. Confusingly labelled, the Optimus 2k from Wind is actually the same phone as the G2X from T-Mobile (LG-P999).
Warning: Optimus 2k firmware of any kind will NOT work on the Wind Optimus 2k. Always use firmware and mods that are designed for the T-Mobile G2X.
I’ve taken a backup of the firmware using Clockworkmod and uploaded below. To restore:
Download the backup from: www.multiupload.com/0BF6Z2FGNW
Decompress the archive to a folder on your SD Card
Boot into Clockworkmod Recovery
Reset to factory default, and clear all caches
Run a ‘restore’ using the decompressed backup on the SD Card
Reboot
You should be good to go. This firmware IS rooted, and has the rootcheck application installed. If you’re restoring the firmware so you can return the phone to Wind or LG, I’d suggest you at least remove the rootcheck application :V
If you have bricked your phone to the point where you can not get into the operating system or into clockworkloader recovery, check out this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056847. It contains the instructions you need to get the clockworkloader recovery on your device so you can perform a restore using the above backup.
I ask that the first person that tries this to post confirming everything works.

Nope. The model shows up as a LG-P999. Wind (and Mobilicity) are unique small independants in Canada, since they run their own UMTS networks (no major carrier uses UMTS here). LG probably just took the G2X phones and branded them back as LG (they look exactly like the Optimus 2k).
Do I need an actual SD card for this or can I just use the internal storage?
Also, how do I boot into clockwork recovery?
Thanks again for posting this! Life saved.

Internal should work fine. I updated the OP with instructions on how to load the clockworkrecovery loader outside of the operating system (assuming you've bricked your phone). Otherwise just install the 'Rom Manager' app.

I have tried recovering from the file you posted but my phone is stuck in a boot loop. The WIND logo comes up and plays a sound and then the device shuts off
You should be able to get into CWM by holding VolDown+Power while booting up.
Flash another backup or another custom rom.
Is it possible to flash a custom ROM with NVFlash?
Yes, I had the same problem with CM7. Just get it into download mode and install nvflash. All fixed.
Can i flash this on my g2x like flashing any other roms with cwm and it will work???
i wont brick my phone?

Is this the same boot loop you were seeing previously, or is this new after imaging? If the latter, then did you wipe the device to defaults and clear all of the caches in clockworkmod recovery?

If you have a G2X phone from verizon this firmware should work perfectly. The stock firmware from Wind isn't bad actually, since they didn't add any bloat. I think the only customization is the wallpaper (which is ugly) and boot animation.

The only difference is the date on the baseband. Everything else is the same from what ive seen. Might be different software version, i recall 11H being the version for the software. Have cm7 84 installed so i cant verify it but i believe it was newer then the tmobile ones.

Okay, I am not a total noob but I'm not a developer either so I only ~kind~ of know what I'm doing.
I bought a rooted gingerbread droid charge. I tried to un-root it so that I may activate it on my verizon line - to do this I used Odin to put a rooted ED1 rom on the phone. I then used an OTA update which was "supposed" to unroot it but it did not. I only updated it once, not twice, so it was only running froyo.
I then brought the phone to Verizon hoping that they would be able to activate the phone. The first thing that they did was switch the 4G Sim card with a new one and tried to activate it. After multiple failed attempts, they did a hard reset on the phone and tried to activate it again. The verizon guy said that the phone was able to use voice commands to search the internet, but that was all. He said that technically the phone was "all-set-up" and that the problem was was that the phone was not able to activate because it had a hacked kernel. He then told me that in order to fix this problem I would have to find a stock kernel and install it onto my phone.
I then went home and used tried to use Odin with several roms. The last one I tried was this one:
chargeforums.com/forum/droid-charge-development/1575-odin-rom-ep4d-factory-full-factory-restore-2-3-6-radio-unrooted-12-7-11-a.html
However, regardless of the rom I try to use, Odin fails at this line:
ID:0/006 Complete (write) operation failed
If I try to put my phone into recovery mode now, I get a picture of a phone with an arrow pointing to a computer.
Please help me!!!

No, and I don't know how I would do that either...
Go to the Development forum and follow the "How to fix your phone" guide that is stickied. I would recommend using the EP4D Odin package to get to the latest software. The PIT file used is the same for all builds, and when flashing with Odin, leave the battery in the phone.
Thanks! I ~think~ that it worked. One question though, I wasn't able to find out if my my phone is now rooted or not (after using the EP4D Package)...

depending on which rom you installed or if you ended up ota to gingerbread..
Ota - odin cwr, flash new kernel using cwr
Rooted rom - do you have superuser app, if yes open it up.. If no dl it from market. See if you have root.

Every time I brick my droid going from rom to rom. I use the all_in_one_ep4d odin package. Even if your reverting completely back to stock your gonna have to upgrade your stock recovery anyway (thanks imnuts). I suggest you that use package if you didn't already.
So I had downloaded Kies and it was ready to upgrade my blaze to ICS, but I read that the phone should be unrooted first. So I did this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1591601
Apparently that was a mistake. Now I get the following error in Kies:
"Your device does not support software upgrading via Kies" "Current firmware version: PDA:LB7 / PHONE:LF4 / CSC:LB7 (TMB)"
Should I have just upgraded without unrooting? Why is it telling me this? I thought this was the stock ROM? If I keep flashing me Blaze with different ROMs without completely reformatting, will that slow it down?
You gotta go back to the OG rom before the first update.... If u look there is a thread about it on here somewhere

that's a kies issue. lets face it, it sucks. but that's the only tar I've been able to find that puts it back to Samsung Official and allows you to upgrade via kies. If you dont trust the links I have, you can find the tar at sammobile.com but you'll have to register to download

[FIX] "Your device does not support software upgrading via kies" is fine and 100% working. I can personally confirm this ;]
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T769 using xda premium
I never understood why people choose to use Kies... I personally hate it. It is much faster and easier to do it the XDA way and root/CWM and then flash whatever rom you want. If you want I'll post the quicker way to do this. No one has hard bricked from this method and its quite simple.
Root your device (you already have I see)
Install CWM HERE. (make sure not to check re-partition)
Boot into CWM by holding Volume UP and Volume DOWN and pressing POWER. USB must be unplugged. (could take up to 20 seconds to load CWM)
Flash your new ICS modem HERE in CWM
Now you can install any ROM you wish. You can install the stock ICS rom or a modified ROM. It is best to always have CWM just in case something messes up you have options to fix. If you install through Kies you have to install CWM over again anyways. This is faster. Now to install a ROM, there is a common process that will help out....
To install a ROM:
Boot into CWM
Perform a factory/reset
Wipe cache
Wipe Dalvik cache (under advanced)
Install zip (ROM)
Reboot and let your phone sit for at least 5 minutes, 10 is preferred.
Newbie Guide for Modding
You can read the above link for a small rundown on CWM and its available options. If you are here on XDA you probably should have CWM.
I had unrooted my device before installing CWM and didn't see the part that says to root it before hand. I installed it, seems to work fine. Will I have any problems.
Also, I just learned you're instructions are missing a step, I have flash the actual ICS ROM here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1918608
Before the radio mod you listed. Other than that, thanks!
P.S. What do you mean by "modem"?
Hello everyone,
It's my first time witnessing this issue, I do have a Samsung Galaxy S 4G. So I decided to upgraded Eclairs to Gingerbread. Which I did.
Somehow I downloaded the CM7 ROM in the SGS 4G section, I have flashed it and now everytime I click "reboot system now", it's just putting me back to CWM Recovery over and over again. Now I got tired of it, so I tried flashing the SlimBean in hopes of making my device work the way they should, but it's the same result. When I cleared data, flashed the ROM and Gapps and when I click "reboot system now", It shows the boot screen but then it transferred me back to recovery. I don't really know what to do.
Urgent help needed. Thank you all.

Yes I can, also tried it with CM9, same results it shows recovery everytime. I need some help. :crying:
You say you went from Eclair (Did this phone even come with that? I thought it started with Froyo. Huh. At least, mine did.) to Gingerbread. Is the Gingerbread you started with CM7, or did you start with one that actually has normal GB bootloaders first? Because if you haven't yet, as with any major bootlooping issue, you'll want to use a proper GB one-click. If you failed to double-flash one of those to get the GB bootloaders earlier, do that ASAP. And hope hard that they come.
You are missing the boot loader if you went straight to Gingerbread. Use Heimdall One Click to flash to Gingerbread. Also click on the bootloader option as well when you flash.
