ending with custom ROMS, how to get back to stock - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi. So my problem is, that I've tried almost every custom rom that exists and I thought that Rayman's CM10 will be the last one cause everyone told me that it works totally fine and it's stable. I have to do like 8 restarts per day, cause after a few sleeps the sound goes off, I have slow scrolling, bad reactions of the display. I'm just sick of it and I'm done with all the experiments.
So can anyone link me to some post where I can find how do I get to the Asus stock ICS rom from Rayman's CM10? I'd probably just ROOT it and get drivers for the 3G USB modem and don't do anything else.. I downloaded all the apps I wanted, it took me many hours and I just want something where I don't have to do wipe again.. Something working and stable..
Thanks in advance.

You can get TF101 stock firmwares from the ASUS official website.

and isn't there any problem with the CWM recovery or anything else? can I just install it here?

Last time I reset I flashed latest stock from Asus' then flashed CWM using easyflasher ( showthread.php?t=1688012 ). It also allows for RogueXM that's based on CWM and it provides 1-click root as well.

AOKP with guevors aokp ics kernel or raymanfx haromny ics is very stable i used it for months after the rr rob
Sent from my EPAD using xda app-developers app

I'm on EOS 3 with K.A.T kernel for the last two or so weeks and haven't had even the slightest problem. Compared with the stock firmware its at least twice as smooth and afaik the best 3D performance of any rom so far, id give it a try before going back to stock.

that sounds great, I want it to be STABLE, that's the most important thing, I can't stand all the freezing. I'll give it a shot, never tried any different kernel

AOKP with Guevors kernel for aokp if you want the dl i have the kernel and Raymanfx harmony ics are very stable ics on AOKP

Kernel questions?

I'm running opensensation cm9 (latest version). the last few builds have been hell on my battery, on a full charge im getting 5 hours with no wifi bluetooth and so forth. my phone like overheated today and took forever to finally boot back up. someone mentioned switching kernels, idk anything about how that works or which ones are safe to use on which roms. any help would be nice. thanks.
Installing a kernel is done the same way you flashed the rom. Flash the zip file in your recovery.
I think your choices right now are either stock opensense kernel or faux's cm9/aosp kernel. Also, I don't think developers release kernels dangerous for your phone. Worst case scenario your phone gets stuck in a bootloop and you have to go back to stock kernel or reflash your rom.
Just keep in mind that a rom like that which is in alpha stage will have bugs that won't be fixed by just switching kernels. Luckily Vorbeth has been working nonstop on Opensense. One would think he was getting paid to dev.. Lol
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using Tapatalk
I don't really recommend switching kernels since Vorbeth has done kernel-level fixes for OpenSensation. Flashing a different kernel has a good chance of breaking something in the ROM...until the wake lock issue is figured out, I suggest using a stable Sense ROM like Android Revolution HD or Virtuous Inquisition if you still want the ICS AOSP look.

[Q] I am sick of ICS issues where can I find the last original HC firmware

Ok so i have scoured this forum today and I have failed to find the answer I seek.
I just want my stable TF101 back. This means the last firmware of HoneyComb. I have tried Revolver and I just keep getting the boot loops and some of my apps just don't work at all. I want to try CM9 but I will wait for that to become just a bit more stable.
So where do I find the original ASUS firmwares? I have found multiple threads that say to download from ASUS but I only see .21 on the site now.
Has someone captured these and if so where?
Or is there a good HoneyComb based ROM that I should try?
I am just sick of the reboots, hangs, and all the other crap.
Thanks guys for your help and time in this matter.
CM9 Megatron is perfectly stable for me, and ARHD is super stable stock, You just need to flash the guevor or tastymehics kernel with it and works amazingly, on ICS. If you're still hell bent on HC two very good HC roms are Prime by roach2010 and Revolver HC by gnufabio.
I'm using the the Frozn rom and ICS test 17c guever kernel and have no issues with rebooting or anything else.. give that a go.
PS: the frozn rom comes with icstest9 guevor kernel which did give me some reboot issues but 17c has been great so far.

Will try
Thanks guys I will begin to play around then with the different roms. I have never flashed a new kernel just roms on my phone and pad so I will look into that.
If all else fails and I really want to go back to stock HC is there a place I can find those?
I used my TF for work often and since the upgrade I can not get the citrix receiver to work in ICS and TF.

I have the same problem. I'm angle to run cm10 without issue but any other jb ROM gives me this WiFi problem. Interested in solutions as well.

Have you checked to make sure you are using the recommended kernel for your ROM?

Use the recommended kernel, I've had this before and it was bugging me like crazy, then I found out I was using the wrong kernel, flashed the recommended one and voila. No more wifi issues :victory:

I have this problem without installing different kernels. On cm10 my WiFi works fine as well as any ICS Roms. With any jb ROM I haven't been able to over clock though which is a bit disappointing also. That plus the WiFi issue that is.

OK thanks I will try that I have not been flashing different kernels

is it ok to flash stock ics rom when on cm10?

Hello, yesterday I was on my phone when it suddenly just seemed to shut off. I have cm10, and want to get rid of it and go back to stock. can i go back to the stock ics rom instead of gingerbread, and be able to do it on cm10 at the time? i can restore to the time i had my phone just rooted and stock ics. i just dont want to go through the trouble of going back to gingerbread stock rom and then updating to ics stock rom through kies. thanks in advance.
side question: is it normal for my phone to randomly shut off on cm10? from what i hear, its the screen of death. it happened to me 2 days after i flashed cm10 and then happened yesterday. (i flashed cm10 last month). if it occurs this often im going back to stock. im fine with the t mobile apps as long as no random reboots occur.
Just restore a backup it will work fine

so stock ics rom rooted will have no problems right? no random shut-offs? i want to stay out of this risky business.

Have you tried the latest cm10 nightly ? The screen of death has not been present in ages.

i'd prefer not to, i feel nightlies pose more of a risk than the stable. I think i'll just go back to my backup.

Sorry to hear but the nightlies are very stable and with use of one of the custom kernels (lz or blue lightning) the phone is stable. If you decide to go back to stock ROM good luck with everything

I too have been experiencing what appears to be the SOD. The bottom "soft buttons" light up and the phone is dead. I have to perform a forced reboot to get it working. I am running CM 10-20130804 but it was happening on nightly builds before this version as well. It happens every few days for me. I keep hoping the next build will make it go away but it always comes back. I even posted the issue in the CM 10 thread but no one had any ideas other than a complete wipe and reinstall and i would rather not do that for CM10. I am waiting for the 10.2.....
mine shut off less frequently than yours. my question is: can i download stock ics rom from sammobile and use that through odin? i dont want to use stock gingerbread rom and then update through kies.

Nightlies are very stable. The listed "stable" has many issues and would pose more of a threat than the nightlies. Try them out sometime . If something happens (which I highly doubt something will) we will be here to help and guide you

I agree too. The stable is from 11/13/12, almost a year old, lulz. The nightlies are super stable and very customizable.

Truly amazing its almost a year. The cm10.2 ROM and variations are pretty stable for alpha builds. Once the camera is fixed we should be good to go.
I remember being the guinea pig testing a fully functioning rooted ROM stock and cm7. Come a long way lol

in the end i just went back to stock ics rom. no need to worry about random shut-offs (used to happen on stock rom rooted, with "shell has been granted superuser permissions"). can i delete the clockworkmod folder and root stuff? i take it i cant go into cwm recovery without root.
bump. final question is what do i need to delete to leave no traces of being rooted before? is it safe to delete the clockworkmod folder in my phone files?

The quote-unquote "Stable" build was not stable at all. It was captured before it was supposed to. Something like 2 or 3 nightly builds after that they incorporated the SOD fix into the kernel.
The latest nightly for CM10 is 100% stable as far as SOD, reboots, crashes, etc. I didn't ever have any problems with it up until I flashed beanstalk. I encourage you to give the latest nightly a chance before you go back to 4.0.4, but it's ultimately your choice
Agreed with above

[Q] which roms best

hi guys was curious which roms are working 100%.. no crashes reboots etc... i got frustrated a while back and went back to stock with oc kernal..
everything works..flash all websites etc..but i miss the speed and smoothness of some of rayman's roms
i would consider going to JB or kitkat CM or EOS. if any of them not bugged..its important that all apps work..
its important that flash be on it.. and actually working. as good as it does on stock.. its flawless
i dont care if its a discontinued rom or not as long as its ICS or higher..
theres nothing more aggravting then reach for your tablet.. and it crashed and off.. and most likely the battery dead...
also i do use my dock.....what say ye
maybe whats the best ics rom with some tweaks.. like deoxed.. zram...that has no serious problems... someone let me know.. im trying to download all these roms...
just incase they get removed...
