[Q] No Root Access after Rooting! WTF! - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I feel like I successfully rooted my Tab2 10.1 GT-P5113 using odin. I have cmw recovery and flashed root file with no errors. After rebooting I have
the "#" Superuser app. It says SU binary needs to be updated and when I try it says installation failed! Apps that require root tell me that it cannot
access root. Used root checker and it also says I don't have root. What am I missing?

The same issue happened to me, You need to install SUPERSU from the market in order to get root access! =)

I just did that and I get the same thing. Used root checker to verify that I still do not have root. What else to check?

Reflash the root files. Find a supersu that lets you install itself by flashing in cwm. That way when its booted up its already got supersu installed and should work.

Plain old "superuser" worked for me, not supersu or #supersu. Its free in the play store.

Can't seem to find an answer to this root question. Little help please

I rooted my wife's Inspire 4g using SuperOneClick and all went well...busybox and Superuser were installed on the phone. I enabled non-market apps and even installed a few but today I dl'd Titanium backup and attempted to backup her stuff so I could proceed with modded roms and the root permission was denied and Superuser is missing. I dl's root checker and there is no root or busybox now....any help would be appreciated
Thank you !!!
P.S. Can I just use SOC again to try and re-root the phone or is there something else that im missing going on?
Not sure if this will work, but it's worth a shot. Use ROM Manager to download and install the latest Super User (Download ROM>>Extras). If ROM Manager doesn't work either, you can just download the latest SU from my dropbox here. It's a .zip file that you flash in recovery mode.

OP, once you get Su on there, you may be able to get busybox on by way of titanium backup. It's my assumption that the two are separate entities... Getting Su doesn't automatically give you busybox, I don't think, but TiBU has an option for installing a "known working busybox," after you push its "problems" button, but you need to get Su on there first, I would think.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't SuperOneClick only provide temporary root? Once you reboot root is gone. Use acehack kit or bubbys simple one click for permanent root

You are correct. SOC on;y provides temp root. No S-Off is attained so no rom can be flashed...

I can confirm this 100%. Before I rooted my phone with the ace hack kit, I used soc to enable installing from unknown sources. It temp rooted my phone, also installing busybox and su. Once I rebooted my phone, it was as stock as can be again, with bb and su gone. This is normal for soc op, since it doesn't have the ability to perma root the phone.

just use hack kit or flash rooted rom after one click. hack kit is much better with more options and so easy now with 11

To Re-Gain Root ?

I am running DroidXcon's EE4 rooted w/ CWM voodoo lagfix recovery. It has worked great for many months. Had to replace phone and flashed to same ROM and it has been working. I have lost my root. Superuser won't get past the gaining root phase of installation, Titanium can't gain root access.
I still have CWM
Is there a zip file/kernel I can install via CWM to re-gain root? Or will I have to wipe the phone to stock and re-flash the ROM?
Just flash the kernel found here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1104634
And download superuser to regain root.

Cannot get root installed after update.

Hi,
I am having trouble getting root to install on my note since the latest update, I can install high on android recovery ok but when to flash supersu.zip it does this successfully and once in the app draw thier is no supersu app or binaries installed.
I do not want to flash the german rom etc to get root bdcause I do not want to lose all the data and app data. and for some reason I cannot use titanium backup etheir.
Is there away without losing my data?

You can't use Titanium Backup because you aren't rooted properly.
Try backing up your apps and their data using Carbon, this doesn't require root, then do a factory reset.
Hi,
I've sorted root out by not using the cwm zip that is provided on this forum and just installed supersu from play store.
I never used carbon, I'll give it go next time.

[Q] Lost root access after installing supersu

I rooted my phone and installed jellyBAM rom, I later tried to install supersu from the app store and completely lost root access. Now i tried flashing supersu but i still cannot get root again. I removed supersu and tried flashing superuser but im still missing root. Is their any-way that I can regain my root access with your app because I would prefer to not have to do a factory reset. I know that jellyBAM has a built in superuser that's build into the settings.apk, Im assuming that this is the problem.

It is in fact a 4.3 rom, do you have any ideas on where the setting may be?
It originally worked with its built in superuser. That superuser has practically no settings.
It just started working randomly.... I did not change anything so i do not understand it so thanks anyways, i guess we will never know what made it misbehave...
In setting -> developer option ->root access ->checked (Apps+Adb) then try again..
I hope this will help..

No recovery anymore, Super SU problem

Hello,
I have rooted my phone, flashed TWRP 2.6.0.0 and CM 10.2 with the All-in-One Toolkit. Everything worked fine.
Then I installed the SUPER SU App from Chainfire and updated the Binary on the "normal" way. After that I uninstalled the app.
Today I wanted to install a newer version of TWRP. I used the GooManager. The download worked fine and the device rebooted. I can use the phone and I get into Bootloader but when I want to go to Recovery the device reboots and reboots....
My first thought was, that I don't have Root anymore because I uninstalled the Super SU App from Chainfire and I don't get any notifications when I start a app that needs root and the built in Super SU in the settings doesn't make any logs since some days. But Root Checker says that my device is rooted and for example Titanium Backup works fine although it's not in the list of apps with Super SU.
What can I do? Maybe trying to install the recovery with the GooManager again or new Rooting and Recovery installing with the Toolkit?
Sincerely,
May be you should flash back twrp 2.6.0.0 which was working for your phone and reinstall super su
I tried to root without the toolkit. I followed all steps and everything worked fine. But when the device rebooted after rooting I stopped in the bootscreen. I'm able to get into CM and use the phone without problems, but now the root is completely gone!
Can anyone help? I really don't know what to do now.
Edit: So, after rooting I have a Super SU app installed, but it's not able to update and not working...
Can you try with the twrp from this link:
http://flemmard.net/recoveries/openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.0-ville-selinux.img
and root again

Okay, thanks. Wich root shall I try? With flashing the SuperSu with the recovery or with getting rooted over PC?
Thanks again.

I flashed the Recovery and the SuperSU. The recovery is installed but there is no root. But I can't uninstall the installed SuperSU apk from the old try of rooting that went wrong. I only can deactivate it. Should I do this and try flashing the SuperSU.zip again?
Thanks!
Sincerely,
Edit: Problem solved with the newer SuperSU version.
