Mediatek MT6575 kernel sources spotted - Miscellaneous Android Development

User mailis spotted an Acer Liquid Gallant E350 based on the Mediatek MT6575, and Acer nicely (as required by the GPL) published the kernel sources with it.
Theoretically that should allow 'someone' to port CyanogenMod to it, and all other MT6575 phones, but its beyond my time and skill to work on that. But I figured it should be at least reported into XDA, and a search showed me no-one else reported this yet.
BTW: If Acer is bringing out a MT6575 phone now, they are very late. MT6575 is already surpassed by the cheaper and faster MT6577, which is flooding the market now.

this sources are totally useless. they dosn't contain any sources related to mt6575, they are in ../mediatek directory which doesn't included into archive.
Is there any chances to find someone with Acer Liquid Gallant E350 to write letter to acer support about this?

[Q] Putting another OS on my Acer Iconia A500

Hello,
My name is David. I have a OS built for the BeagleBone and BeagleBoard system it has an ARM processor and so does my Iconia A500 or at least I think it does because I have done the Backtrack forum successfully which told me to download the ARM Version of Backtrack... So I am assuming that I would need a OS that is compatible with an ARM Processor... I was wondering though if I would need a Kernel Image specific to my OS?
OS is one my Professor made so I won't be able to get a Kernel Image Specific to it.
Send me a PM for the link to the OS I want on my Acer Iconia A500.

Finally complete MTK6589 source code is released!

Here it is
http://developer.sonymobile.com/dow...es/open-source-archive-for-build-16-0-a-0-36/
They are for Xperia C, the MTK6589 based phone!
I tested them, they are complete!
Archive is heavily compressed, when i uncompressed it, it was 2.2gb big!
Let the development start!!!!!!!!
I tried to use it to generate the complete rom
I can say it is incomplete ==> Cannot generate ROM even following the instruction enclosed.

Thanks! Direct link: http://www.lenovomobile.com/opensource/release/S6000/
Edit: The S6000 is MT8125 based. That's a cortex A7 aswell with PowerVR SGX544 however is it similar enough to the MT6589 to be of use? Also, there are mt6589 specific files in this source tree (under mediatek/platform/mt6589)
Bump.
Anyone got any further?
thanks~this really help me a lot!!!

if anyone has a working build, please share instructions on how to do that.
Would be great if custom roms and CyanogenMod will be available for this great platform!
^ Agree. I would start working on trying to compile the cyanogenmod for this after I get the phone next week.

[PETITION] MediaTek to release Kernel Sources for all MTK65xx devices

UPDATE:: WE HAVE THE SOURCES!!
Sony just released the complete source code for their new mtk6589 android the Sony Xperia C...Get downloading and let the development of custom roms, kernels and much much more begin..link below
http://developer.sonymobile.com/dow...es/open-source-archive-for-build-16-0-a-0-36/
Hopefully more and more manufacturers will follow suite and provide theirs too..Anyways this is a big win.
Finally, thanks to all of you who took their time to support us and help us get this.
Dear XDA members,
MediaTek is a leading manufacturer when it comes to mobile processors just like Qualcomm. They are responsible for bringing quad core CPU's like the MTK6589 among others. We have been waiting for a very long time for MediaTek to release their Kernel Sources so that we may tweak, mod and further development of the roms in our devices. The sources will allow us to port custom roms and kernels like Cyanogen ,Paranoid , AOSP, MIUI and AOKP among many others. This will be a major game changer for this processor as they prepare to launch the 8-core MTK processor.
My request to all those who see this(developer or not) is to take a second to vote, spread the word on any other forum and maybe this time they will hear us. Support our cause
It is about time this happened.
Thank you all for your time.
Be sure to vote in the Poll and feel free to leave a comment.:fingers-crossed:
i guess instead of voting here its better to sign petition over here

Snapdragon-8228,8225Q,8212 development future??

OPENSOURCE ISSUE
I purchased 3 devices and i have to choose one for me and rest for my brothers,But i am confused which one i should use.
Xolo Q1100 with Snapdragon 8228 CPU & Adreno 305 GPU
Xolo Q500 with Snapdragon 8225Q CPU & Adreno 203 GPU
LAVA IRIS 406Q with Snapdragon 8212 CPU & Adreno 302 GPU
I defiantly want to develop custom Roms and kernels but i cannot find any source codes of these. No sources provided by manufacturer and
nothing found on internet. My previous device was mediatek based.I am new to snapdragon.
Specification variations has no matter with device selection.I just want development and opensource.
SO any of the above processors have development future?
If any more info required then plz notify me....
I am mentioning here some good devs so they can give me advice.Sorry if you don't like my way.I apologizes.

Thing is although this phone is Qualcomm based and not Mediatek it is unlikely that the manufacturers will ever release the source code because they are Chinese companies but there is a chance. Search around being a Qualcomm device you might be able to find another device with the same chipset and with existing kernel source and use it.
Sent from my HTC One (M8)
Which one?
Well.it would be the best for you to pick up the first one in your list.:good:
because of several reasons which the first one is I.do have it myself, and I'm so pleased of that and secondly it's specifically designed to enable devices to switch seamlessly from app to app, enjoy breathtaking download speeds and play the hottest games and even enables best-in-class mobile experiences with all-day battery life.

Thanks for reply, and first one definitely seems good on specification table. But i need to choose device which has development future and for
that it must be opensource. So do you have any idea about sources for snapdragon 8228??And which device you own?
Well,as I said, I do have the first listed device and hopefully I have gathered some sources which were in chinise,
I had tried to translate some but most unfortunately I am not with my own PC right now but If I get there and if you wanted to,I can share them with you.

Blackview P2 Custom Roms?

Hello guys, I have an Blackview P2 (with MT6750T Chipset) that has as newest update an Android 7.0, but Blackview never released the sources, does that mean it is impossible to see any custom Roms for it ever like Android 7.1.2 or 8.1.0? Or is it somehow possible to port such Roms from other phones with the same Chipset?
No one having an idea at least?
mtk chipset not easy to work with

All phones that use the mtk chipsets are a big and difficult issue ...
MTK does not release the sources of their chipsets , and neither do the OEM - so making an mtk chipset custom ROM is working ""in the dark" , in other words a lot of work . It can be done and has been done and is still happening but the amount of work is just too much. The modersa have to do a lot of guess work.
So not many modders will work on mtk chipset phones unless they have a special interest in the particular phone ...,

Seems like it, your right. I switched to an Redmi Note 5 with an Snapdragon Processor anyway, cause my Blackview P2 died on water sadly. Was an really good phone for an MTK, except the lavk of updates and custom roms. R.I.P. Blackview P2
