Hidden update screen in settings - Asus Transformer TF700

Not sure if this is new to Jellybean, or if it was also in ICS, but I found a hidden update screen called Transformer Services. It has a drop down menu to choose the firmware type, a field to choose the firmware path, and an update button.
It can be found in Settings > About Tablet then repeatedly tap either Camera Version, Touch Panel Version, Pad EC Version or MobilDock Version.
It appears to be a way to apply camera, dock, or pad updates without updating the whole ROM.

It was/is also present in ICS

Humm...can I use this to re-flash JB since the update is now available from Asus's site?

How to get rid of "Couldn't add widget" on Recents in Lollipop

Hi All,
I have done a clean install of my phone by flashing the 23.1.A.0.690 FTF on my D6603 and disabled Google bloatware including the Google App which provides the Quicksearchbox.
While in Sony Home there's an option for disabling the search box I can't find any setting for the recents screen where now is written "Couldn't add widget." (since it is disabled) E.g. Nexus devices have a setting in the Display menu which seems to be removed by Sony.
Does anyone have an idea how to get rid of that error which takes up some part of the screen?
Thx!

S-View issues with SM-N900W8 (Samsung NOTE 3)

After latest Samsung TouchWiz UI update (which was automatically installed in background, despite having auto updates disabled) on my rooted stock 4.4.2, s-view has changed for the worst. Answer and reject buttons are non-responsive during incoming call

, yet pull-up menu under those buttons works
. Also,
shows up during a call; this frequently leads to the hangup button being pressed . I don't want to do a factory reset, as this update is likely to be automatically installed again. I don't want to upgrade to a newer OS version, as I've grown used to this. Suggestions?

Blackview Tab 8 - how to get rid of these annoyances

How can I get rid of these three annoyances on the otherwise great Blackview Tab 8?
1) "Smart cover" functionality - I'd like to disable the automatic turn-on when you open (or "accidentally open") the cover. I wasn't able to find anything in the settings. Any hack possible via adb or otherwise (on a non-rooted device)?
2) The silhouette of Google search box on the home screen (it just sits there, can't be (re)moved at all, despite the fact that I already disabled and uninstalled the bloat I don't need, such as Google, Assistant, etc.):
