[Q] I need help to update my Sensation. - HTC Sensation

I rooted and installed cyanogenmod for my sensation a few months ago. According to the change log, i have CyanogenMOd-7.1.0-SelfKANG10-Sensation. What is the fastest and easiest way to update to the latest version which i assume is cm-9.1.0-pyramid.zip from here:http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?type=stable&device=pyramid. can anyone please tell me how i can go about updating to this version. If this helps, about in settings tells me i have 2.3.7 android version and the mod is "CyanogenMOd-7.1.0-SelfKANG10-Sensation" I would appreciate someone telling me the easiest way to upgrade to this.new version. Thanks so much in advance

ok. thanks very much for the help. I have one last question. If i have a old version of android when i update will i have the same version or a new one. Also, do i just install it over my current rom like the instructions?
Thanks very muchly. EDIT: Can i just use this to update: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/HTC_Sensation:_Full_Update_Guide or do i have to install this 3.32 firmware that it says to download here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767
I would love help please.

That guide is fairly general in that it just refers to the 'latest version of CyanogenMod'. So yes as per the OP of the thread I linked you to you will need to install 3.32 firmware. You could install over your current ROM if you really wanted but I'd recommend a full wipe for a nice clean installation.
CM7 is Gingerbread based and CM9 is ICS based so yes you will end up with a newer version of Android, hence the need for the newer firmware.

Firmware isn't removed with the wipe so it doesn't matter too much. I would wipe, install new firmware, install ROM and you should be good to go :good:
Make sure you do a nandroid backup before you start anything, if things go pear-shaped you'll want it. Also make sure you have access to a copy of your current firmware, if you have to restore your nandroid backup AFTER installing the new firmware it won't work as the firmware will no longer match, so you'll have to roll that back too.

Inspire 4G and the cyanogenmod (questions)

Im new to the android community and phones. I bought an Inspire with gingerbread (2.3.3) and would like to add cyanogenmod to it but the tutorials look so "harmfull" they scare me away so i have some question.
Can i downgrade from 2.3 to android v1?
Have anyone here rooted and flashed the same phone I have?
What is "radio? Can I change it to another one? how can I tell if it will work with my carrier?
please, please, please. READ
these questions you are asking concern me
1. you dont downgrade to v1....because it doesnt exist
2. we all have the same phone as you, otherwise we wouldnt have an inspire section
3. there is an entire thread dedicated to this very subject....look in the dev section.
there are easy to follow guides, tutorials, and walkthroughs here, but you have to READ...there is ZERO excuse for not reading and comprehending this stuff. if it is too much for you, you should NOT be doing any of it, and leave your phone stock
This is why I said..im NEW with this... none of what you helped in some way.

then you have some READING to do. nobody here is going to hold your hand.
ALL the information you seek is already here, but you have to READ
Sorry if all you want is someone to hold your hand and spoonfeed information to you
NEW or not, it doesnt matter. I was NEW to this phone when i got it. I READ, the same way i have done with all my other phones. I READ to understand what i am doing and how to do it.
heres the first thing you should have read when you came to the inspire boards:

this question has come up several times in the last month. yes it works just fine
Hi, i just rotted the unit and everything was fine
So i decided to use, cyanogenmod, it installed
now i can make calls but it does not connect to the data network portion.
Any ideas?
I noticed the radio baseband is slighly different than the original. could it be?
Sorry. was quick. i entered the APN settings and it is now connecting.. just Edge....before (stock rom) i had "H" (guessing is 3G). Now it only connects to E (edge i assume).
The weird thing is that before whenever i was in an area with only edge It would not allow me to browse but now I can.
any idea jedi master?
you can try a different radio. look at the radio thread in the dev section
Sorry to bother you so much. I was able to solve the radio issue. Now, since the market app wasn't included i followed the guide on how to install gapps but after doing so i can't get pass the boot screen "touch the android to begin".
I try to wipe and reflash but still does not let me do it. Any ideas?
did you touch the android to begin?
Yes, sir. But it will still restart.
i try to wipe data and restart the process but same thing happens.
Tried taping the four corners and an still happening.
Someone said the the gapps file might be corrupted.
Right now cyanogenmod is a pain. is there a way to install another room or the stock one through recovery?
Thanks for all your help!

you can install any rom you like in recovery.
boot into recovery
go to mounts and storage
mount usb storage
on your computer, copy the rom zip onto the phone
back,
install zip file from sdcard
browse to rom zip
confirm flash

[Q] Question about upgrading to 2.3.4

I just updated my phone to Gingerbread and now it seems to have some problems.
1st - It will not install any apps. It does a quick restart everytime it starts installing an app
2nd - There is no longer any snooze button when i set an alarm.
Anyone have any idea what I might have done?
Here are the phones specs
Firmware version 2.3.5
Baseband version t959vukd1
Kernel Version 2.6.35.7-t959vuvkg4-cl385158
Build number Ginberbread.vuvkg4
Get yourself a KJ6 based ROM. Right now you have a KG4 rom which was a leaked version of Gingerbread. KJ6 is based off of 2.3.6, which is newer and has been officially released by Samsung.

Flashing that way requires you to have Clock Work Recovery Mod (CWM) installed. If you have it, that's how you would flash it. If not, then go back into the dev section and look for RaverX3X's ODIN version of KJ6 stock.
Thank you i will see if i can find it.

The download should only have the 1 file; it goes into the PDA section. Let ODIN decide what's checked & not checked.

so i bought a g2x that has been flashed and all...

i traded my samsung galaxy s 4g phone for a g2x and the g2x is flashed and rooted. now there are a few problems with it. one manger one is that there is no market/play store icon anywhere im running on 2.3.7 model number is LG-P999
kernel version is 2.6.32.55-cyanogenmod [email protected] and mod version is cyanogenmod-eaglesblood_build-2.8 now im not sure if everything is up to date. figured if someone can help me with this.
For the market and other apparently missing. You need to download the latest Google apps. The link is on some of the android development pages. I would look but iI'm on my phone.e

Go to eagles blood ROM 2.8 GB in Android development. Read thru it to get your gapps.
Using your phone , go to eagles blood website.
www.eaglesblood.com
Click on the download tab and select the phone that is P999... at the bottom of that page is the gapps download link.
Once you have downloaded Google apps, you can then install it using CWM. If you need more detailed instructions, they have them posted on their website. If you need more help , just ask. This is a pretty friendly forum.
Don't quote me. I'm probably wrong.

Go on cyanogenmod's website. They'll have flashable zips if you prefer to go that way.
LG and T-Mobile will be pushing the V21y baseband update over the air, so you'll be able to get it by going into the software update menu in Settings> About phone. This was posted in another thread about the updates - http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-2362

If you want a stock rom with newer baseband. Update
If you are a flash addict, keep what you have for now. Eventually T mobile will be doing OTA updates in coming weeks

what about CyanogenMod 7? its what im using right now.
No go. You will be able to use it but your calling feature will be abnormal. That is static sound when you call or when some1 calls you. Basically defeats the purpose of having a phone.

still on VBRMA2, want to go to latest stock OTA

I am currently running a stock VBRMA2 build which appears to have been rooted and tweaked a bit. At this point I just want to be on latest stock ROM.
What is the best way for me to get there (hopefully without having to wipe my phone)?

I dont knwo the best way to do this but I believe you can just flash the latest firmware via odin.

[Q] Noob with a Nexus S

Hi everyone,
I'm new to this forum but have been around the block a few times when it comes to software development, albeit not at a hardware level. I've got a couple old Android phones that I'm looking to root and play around with, but I'm having some trouble with the vernacular. The first device I'm trying is the newest of the old lot, a Nexus S (crespo).
I'm trying to install the "Guru" kernel (http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-s/development/kernel-guru-t2783561), but can't see how <4MB would be a complete system image. Does this kernel just reflect a patch that should be applied to the CM ROM, and if so, which one? I've rooted the phone using SuperOneClick but don't know where to go from here.
Thanks for helping this noob out, guys and gals. Cheers from Australia!

Thanks mate. Do I download this rom from the CM site, and does it matter which version I use? Am I correct in interpreting your directions to mean that "flashing" the kernel doesn't overwrite the whole rom, just simply acts like a patch after the CM distro is flashed?
