Re-enable Unified Search Function Google Now - Asus Transformer TF700

has anyone been successful with the Infinity an this JB release. I tried a few .apk I found from the previous Gnow that allowed this but they all had only the standard google typing functionality, none of the google now. I would very much appreciate anyone who can provide an answer to this. Also does anyone else wish the "hotword" worked anytime and not just from the google now screen. Even better imagine we could record our own word that would cause gnow to pop up? That would be pimpin.

Google Voice Actions

I know Google Voice Actions is only for 2.2 and up but was wondering if anybody has found a way to get it on the captivate.
I think our best bet is that Google releases a 2.1-compatible version soon. Otherwise we'll be waiting for our 2.2 update from Samsung, which could be an arbitrarily long time...and Voice Actions sounds really cool.
Edit: Vlingo is now free in the Market, and it works on Eclair. I don't know if it's as good as Google's new offering, but it used to be a $9.99 app, so...might be worth checking out.
cool i ll check it out
If you guys can't find vlingo, try edwin. They're very similar
Not sure where to post this, but I had a problem trying to get google voice action to work, using the listen commands and note to self commands.
Apparantly, you have to make sure that English (US) is selected. You can do this by clicking on the menu button when the Speak Now is showing.

[Q] Voice Search API URL

Hello guys,
so, I'm currently developing a voice assistant for Android. It's in alpha stage for now, so I'm still looking for new resources, APIs, etc.
Google Now is here. The new Voice Search integrated with Now is really cool, but there's something, what interests me the most. After asking a question, keywords are automatically underlined. It's awesome, because it makes searching for an answer easier.
I've decompiled Velvet.apk from Jelly Bean. And I wanted to extract an "API" URL from there. But, unfortunately, I haven't found anything. I've also tried to read packets sent from and to this app, but everything goes through SSL. The only thing I've found is "google.com/generate_204" (which returns 204 No content) and "clients1.google.com" (search suggestions).
Have anyone tried to find this API? Maybe I was searching in the wrong file (but I'm sure I wasn't)?
Best,
webDeWo.pl
Me too
I was wanting something similar to this as well, especially the text to speech of Google now. So, Bump.
I've done a small research yesterday. Unfortunately, it looks like Google requires authentication (with a Google Account) before every request. So, not good.

Google Now on custom roms

Does anyone know if Google Now only fully works on a stock JB rom? I am running CM10 on a Sprint Galaxy SIII and I'm finding that it has very limited functionality. I wasn't sure if its just because Google Now is in its infancy, being a such a new release or if its having trouble communicating with a custom rom. What I'm finding is whenever I try using it to perform local searches for apps or files from my phone it only searches the web. I can set alarms no problem but unable to set appointments or calendar events with Google Now. I'm not sure if this is just the limitation of the program itself or if it has something to do with Samsung removing the Local Search functionality with the LG2 update. I know that there may be endless reasons for this but I really love the potential of using this feature. Any thoughts or assistance would be very appreciated. Thanks!
It sounds like yours is good. It is just the limitations of the software right now. No calendar appointments yet. If voice is working at all for you, and obviously it is if you can set alarms, then you are good to go. To test it try saying something like "weather" or "who won the yankees game"...

AOSP Android Keyboard Not Showing Suggestions

I've searched around and haven't been able to find much info on this. I'm running CM 10.1.2. The default AOSP android keyboard will not show suggestions (or next-word suggestions) when I type. Both options are enabled in the settings. Is this a known issue? I wanted to see if anyone here had any ideas before I downgrade to test CM 10.0. Thanks.

You could always install the Google Keyboard from the Play Store.

I should have mentioned I already tried that too. Same thing happens.
Solved
Well, my impatience led me to expand my search from XDA to Google. I found a couple sites which helped me figure out what was going on. Apparently, the suggestion bar does not show up in certain areas you type in, such as Google Now, the browser address bar, and others. But, when composing a text message, in the body of an email, a Facebook status update, and others, the suggestion bar pops right up. Apparently, this behavior is intentional (not sure why...I think it would be useful in those fields too).
I was using the Swype keyboard on my old phone before I got my Skyrocket, and was used to how that worked. Also, as stated in my OP, even though I had "next-word suggestions" checked in the keyboard options, that was not working, even in texts, emails, etc. I was about to cave and pay $0.99 for Swype, but thought to download the Google Keyboard from Google Play again. The "next-word suggestions" / prediction does indeed work when you are typing in a field that gives you the suggestion bar. So, if you have noticed that in your CM 10.1.2 ROM that you are not getting the next-word suggestions with the default Android keyboard (AOSP), download Google Keyboard from the Google Play store, and you should be good to go.
It's a very old thread... But the question it's:
It's again valid at today? I have the same exact issue/trouble. No more suggestion in some parts when i use chrome or other browser and it's very strange because if i use browser to navigate facebook site during post a comment the suggestion it's appears but when i select, for example, the address bar the suggestion bar it's ever clear and completely empty....
How i can this issue?

Major issues when typing in certain forms, please help.

In certain text boxes in the browser I'm experiencing a really annoying issue, basically when I type a bunch of stuff in then make a mistake and start using the backspace key to erase, stuff that I perviously typed comes up in place of stuff I erased. It happens even now that I'm typing here. What's up with this issue? Any way to fix? I noticed it happens more often when I use swype typing. Stock keyboard on stock Xperia Z3.
I still have this issue on Lollipop, wtf...
Ive had that issue since Kit Kat.
Try another browser, I had that issue before. I prefer the stock browser so I installed AOSP Browser installer from the play store, then installed the kk browser. No issues with it for me now. I hope this helps.
Trying another browser or another keyboard isn't really a fix. I like to use the Sony keyboard because it allows me to type in english and italian without having to manually switch language every time. It also seems to be more precise with the swype compared to Google or Swiftkey, and it has better handling of custom words. Also I like to use Chrome because it's fast, smooth and "just works", like someone used to say.
I made a few posts about it on the Sony forums, because it only happens with the stock keyboard, hopefully they will listen.
Here's also a video I made to show the bug recorded by me
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZhG8rqpw1w
I turned off the auto correct. Seemed to work.
Interestingly enough, I noticed this with google voice typing. Invariably it would accurately type for me, but put everything in twice. Craptastically ridiculous to have to erase what you actually wanted typed because the stupid ap would double it up. I have since removed as best I can the blue google ap, don't use google+ at all and I tell the xperia kb to not guess squat for me. The actual term 'smartphone' I truly believe to be as misleading as one could possibly be without calling yourself a liar.
So, has anyone found a fix for this issue? I feel like I'm pretty much the only one so I wonder how is it possible that such a terrible glitch ON STOCK APPS is basically unnoticed.
I used to get this when using remote apps like Unified Remote and typing into the HTPC. Whenever it tried to predict it would go all screwy.
I haven't noticed it in my z3 but I use Swiftkey.
Its a problem with browser, web site, keyboard... Not sony it self...
I do occur this problem but very rarely, because some website uses technology which is not so optimize for smartphones to decode them, or certain browser.
