Multitasking assistance - HTC One S

Hey everyone. Love the HtcOneS. My favorite phone so far. Had the original G1, then a G2X. The G2X was a face but when it got stolen I hot the One S.
Now my question is in regards to multitasking. Sometimes when I switch to another app it refreshes and I have to start over. This is a bummer because I play an online card game called shadow era. If I get a message pop up during a game and then go back to the game it drops connection and I lose the match. Any way to maintain connection while switching apps? It makes me feel like it is just a frequently used app tray and not true multitasking. Thanks in advance for your input!

Which rom are you on?
Did you receive the 4.0.4 OTA update? It solves the multitasking issue.

If you're rooted... http://goo.gl/IvGL1

I'm stock no root. I don't have a PC so I have not yet been able to root

And yes bro, Zeppelin rocks
I did not take the ota update because I didn't want to ruin my chances to root. If it is ok to take the ota then I will.
Thanks guys.

Yes, I suggest updating. It's one major update, that carries several improvements and bugfixes, as you can read in the dedicated threads.
Watch out if you use tethering or other application that use wifi with screen off, since this could have become buggy.

Performance Issues

My Captivated is rooted and Im having a lot of performance issues. I unloaded some apps and its still having problems. The biggest issues is delayed response. This happen from messaging, to suing the touchscscrreen./----Im going to leave this typo because it happens of the screen freezing--/ . This happens way to frequently. Please tell me I can fix this myself, I don't want to send this off for a new one. I hate that process.

Backup your apps with TITANIUM BACKUP and flash back to stock. Then I would install the sre.

you can follow all the steps to root your phone and reset and blablabla...
or you can wait for the software fix, which nobody knows when to come or nobody can guarantee to work.
or you can wait for 2.2, which is supposed to be faster but you never know.
or you can exchange for another phone and probably have the same problem.

I wouldn't mind playing the waiting game if just a couple of bugs. But what's a smart phone if it doesn't can't handled being used. I figured it was something I did cause the phone didn't always freeze like this. Is this the lag people are talking about?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
Do a reset. However don't use Titanium Backup to restore system data. It will funk stuff up a lot of the time.

I had the same issues, first get rid off any task killer app you have. Second download the One Click Lag Fix app. These steps increased my phones speed drastically. You can also use a program called Autostarts to control which apps load at boot. To do the last to tips, I believe your phone had to be rooted.

Did you install Auto Killer?
Back before this nice app we had to use a script at boot to change the settings this app now does. Y'all got in on Android when it was getting easy to do everything. I had to root by cmd prompt and use a list of commands now we have one click rooters. I am kinda jealous.

BTW what are the lag issues everyone talks about? My best friend has the Captivate which is why I am on the forums. I am trying to stay up to date with his phone. I have the Evo.

You definitely don't need an app killer. Eclair is set up to kill apps when memory is needed. I find things to be buggy when I use an app killer. Use launcher pro. Much smoother than touch whiz. Root with SRE. When all the att crap is gone the phone functions like it should have out of the box even if you disable the OC. Lagfix is optional but doing all these things really makes the phone fly

[Q] New owner with a couple of questions

I've had my phone for almost 2 weeks now.
First Android and touchscreen phone ever owned.
I have a few questions:
1) How do I clear only certain calls from my call history? I only see the option to clear all call history. On my old phone (Nokia N82) I was able to erase only certain calls made (for example, the last number dialed).
2) How do I lock my screen? Right now it autolocks on its own after a certain period of time. I want to lock it own my own like I could do on all my old phones.
3) What is the best FREE forum posting app out there?
Also, I tried to root my phone last weekend, but something went wrong and for a second I thought I had bricked my phone.
Thankfully, everything is okay but I do not plan to try it again for obvious reasons.

Can you also recommend a good FREE forum posting app?
I know there's Tapatalk, but it's not free.
1)when you go in to your call history just long press the number you want to delete and choose delete form call history
2) One suggestion is go to settings>security and change the lock time to immediate
Hope this helps
Rooting can be a scary thing but i just recommend reading up as much as you can, until you feel comfortable again. then try the Ace hack Kit. it what what i used and it was super simple.

[Q] How Do We Get Facebook Push Notifications Working Properly?

Hi All,
First, I wanna say that you guys are so freakin awesome! I've been an xda lurker for a while, but figured it's time for me to join and interact with my fellow HTC Sensation-ers.
It'd be a good chance for me to contribute to these forums, as well as getting some help for my Sensation problems. Glad to be a part of you guys now
Question: Why doesn't Facebook for Android push notifications work on my Sensation 4G?
Background Info: Private Messages in Facebook get pushed, but regular notifications (e.g. wall posts, comments, likes) do not get pushed to my device.
Went into facebook settings, and everything it's at its default values (never touched a thing). Notifications are on.
Other information pertaining to situation: Background data is ON. Always-On mobile data has been tried on and off. Same results both ways.
Can you help a brotha out?
Thanks, guys! I look forward to being a part of your community.
I read that if you sign in on a blackberry it fixes that for android due to a permission that Facebook for bb gives. I don't know if its true but worth a try I guess

Hi fr0zenblood75,
Thanks for the response.
I also have read that before. I actually went far enough to borrow my friends Bold 9780 without him knowing
Alas, it did not work
Does every Sensation user have this issue? Or am I in the minority with this?
Also, I've restarted my phone, factory reset, uninstall and reinstall app....nothing works.
Facebook kinda sucks. You try another app like friendcaster?

It sucks that the Facebook app is garbage
I guess the developer has no incentive to get the app working properly for everybody, seeing that it's not ad-supported.

Disabling Market Recommendations

Hello all,

Market doesn't recommend apps on your notification shade? Possible virus or dodgy app
Sent from my HTC Desire S using xda premium
You're getting adverts in your notification bar? Sounds like you have Airpush on your phone. It gives devs the ability to send adverts and recommendations to your phone. Use this app to scan for Airpush and remove it...

Remember to rate affected apps with a single star and mark it as defective / malware to make sure the devs understand your opinion on that kind of ads...

I tried it and it did find one App that was using the push ads (Kona's Crate), so I removed it. But the recommendation is back now, so I guess it wasn't that.
Any other suggestions?
Next step would be to install Lookout Mobile Security. I use it, and the free version can scan your phone for all dodgy apps, malware, spyware etc. and will scan new downloads to stop it happening again. It also has tracking and wiping features should you loose your phone. Unlike certain antivirus apps though, it does not hog resources too much or drain your battery.
I have gone for the premium version, which adds real-time virus protection when using the stock web browser. The free version should serve your needs for now though. Put it on and run a scan. See what turns up.
The only downside to this app (and it's only a small niggle) is that after a new download from the market, the phone may lag a bit for a few seconds whilst Lookout scans it. That's it.

I believe that the XDA App is just a custom Tapatalk App. However, it would receive updates outside of the main Tapatalk App, so it's possible that it hasn't received the updates and bug fixes that the main app has yet. Maybe one of the Mods/Admins can try and get the issue resolved.
Thanks for your input, imnuts . Hope I find a solution soon, running one free app, and two paid apps and still can't use any of them without it becoming a pain in the ass, and draining the juice out of the battery.

As someone else has mentioned, Tapatalk works perfectly -- which it does.
Try emailing them about the issue(s) you're having. The contact email from the Play Store is [email protected] I also saw that there was an XDA Premium HD app that is supposedly meant for tablets. Hopefully that isn't what is required as it doesn't look like there is a free version of the tablet app.
Tried running free xda app, also xda HD, still no good. I guess I can spend another 3.00 bucks and experiment for the dev dept. With tapatalk. And that's no guaranty that its going to work.
