[SOLVED]HELP : no operating system on my htc one s - HTC One S

hello guys , last night i tried rooting my phone and then installing a custom rom. i unlocked the bootloader , flashed custom recovery , and then Perm-rooted it. everything went well. then i tried to install custom rom and the dialog windows on my computer said ``its finished , enjoy trickdroid.``
so i rebooted the device and after that problems started. i couldnt get past htc welcome screen , the one with the normal eroor message with red letters (this system is for development purposes only..). i tried a few times again , but still nothing. so i went on internet to see how to recover from this , and i did everything by the book. i wiped delvik cache , normal cache and factory reset. even after that problem persisted. so i wiped system (ROM) and now i am left without system on my phone. i still cant get past that welcome screen with error message , and only thing i can do is boot into bootloader and recovery. PLS HELP , what do i need to do. this was my first rooting and i bricked it... THX

Go in recovery. Wipe cache and dalvic. Wipe system. Wipe factory reset. Install zip from sd card ( rom)
Reboot into bootloader. Flash the boot.img from the rom with fastboot. And then reboot and enjoy.
Maybe you can check of you have s3 or s4 processor before you flash anything. Greetz

ty, i did as you said. i mounted sd card on my copmuter , but now i cant acces it , windows doesnt let me before i ``format it``. ``You need to format the disk drive before you can use it`` message apears. Is it okay for me to do that?

Can't help you with that. Never tried that..
Di you make backup of your original rom in recovery?
Or you can try to run a ruu from your computer and try everything again...

You can check football's ville/ville c2 collection thread. You need ruu from c2
You can run it from Windows with your phone plugged in with usb cable.

no mate , i still havent copied my zip file to my sd card , because i need to format it before i can copy anything from my computer to phone. windows doesnt let me do anything before it formats it. the only question i need answered is : is it safe for me to format ``Removable Disk I:``(my phone) so i can then copy my zip file on my phone? ty

Either PM me or hit me up on gtalk - [email protected] and I will help you out and yes it is safe.

Have you got CWRecovery? If you have, flash any custom ROM then flash any stock
RUU, but before you can do that, you need to SuperCID your device.
If you have CWRecovery and you have made a backup of a previous ROM, just restore it.
Hold volume down and power and factory reset, or as stated before if your rooted go to cwm factory reset or restore previous rom

well unfortunately I dont have a CW restore because I was trying to wipe the phone completely (to get a fresh start).I noticed that I can fix it with ODIN somehow but it says I need a stock rom.So ur saying grab any of those Pyramid_RUU roms and it will work?

If u supercid with all ones you can flash a ruu.exe and it will bring ur phone back to life.
You don't have cwm or u just don't have a restore Rom?
Are u rooted or s-off?
If so put this file on the root of your sd card:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=3XJEHM9A
Boot into recovery and flash and u will.have the newest cwm, than boot into recovery, than factory reset or download a rom of your choice and flash
You should be fine now.

[Q] [RESOLVED] Is my phone bricked? Please help

Okay so today I was tinkering with my phone when I accidentally deleted a system file that was crucial. So I went to bootloader and wiped phone (I know that was the wrong thing to do, now). So I have no ROM on my phone. I was able to ADB the ROM I need to my phone on internal storage (not /sdcard) but the problem is whenever I try to flash it, I get the following error over and over in the code area in TWRP "E: failed to mount /sdcard (invalid argument). I've gone to the mount options screen and when I try to select sdcard nothing happens, I can't select it. If it's any help, the ROM I'm trying to flash has the official page here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1804223 and the ROM I was on before this whole thing is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1868236 . Any help is greatly appreciated, I really need this phone fixed!
EDIT: Alright, so I flashed stock recovery, relocked, and then used my friend's PC (thanks man!) and now my phone is in perfect working condition. Just re-rooted and re-unlocked the bootloader in like 10 minutes, which is funny because it took me like an hour and a half the first time. Anyways, thank you to all the users on this forum for helping me. Appreciate it!
NEVER Factory Reset or Clear Storage from bootloader it'll screw up your storage inside of twrp. I tried formatting storage afterwards in twrp and in windows and it still didn't help twrp see it. I ended up running the ruu again.
easiest thing to do is run the ruu again, reunlock bootloader, flash twrp and flash rom. then never factory reset or clear storage in bootloader again.
if you find another method let me.

Okay, sorry what what's the ruu and how do I run it again?
EDIT: So is the ruu the stock ROM? I've done some googling and it appears that it's something to do with exe file. I'm on a Mac, but I can get access to a PC if it's necessary.

And youll have to learn some simple adb commands tto relock your bootloader..or it won't work someone correct me if wrong
Hi guys yep you'll need to do some adb work to relock for ruu. However... if you still have recovery? You could try flashing a clean ROM. Then flash the cm10 over that. Of course youll need to delete cache,s before flashing cm10. I'd give that a shot first.
(Edit) I just noticed you having the mount issue also... ignore that. Just check you PC it should still show up. And it may ask you to format the drive? Your OK to do that fat32.

Easiest way to fix is to connect phone to pc, then select mount, mount usb in twrp and windows will prompt you to format.
Then once that is done you can copy your rom of choice across unmount and flash.

Twrp is known for having mount issue. I'm tell in ya if you USB to PC it will still find the SD as long as you have the HTC drivers installed. Unless your twrp is gone? Then you need to ruu.

Yes, I still have recovery and twrp is not letting me mount sd card. I'm trying to get the ruu to work, however, I have a Mac and getting it to work in a third party program like Wine or Parallels isn't easy, but I'm making progress. If there's another way to run the ruu on Mac, let me know.

That's what I was aiming for as well - why ruu when there's an easier way that should work providing the right drivers etc are installed.
I wiped my phone via bootloader 3 times in one evening by being to quick on the volume to power trigger and brought it back using what I said above.

HELP - Deleted Android

Hi everyone! I am the biggest noob on the face of the earth. I was trying to install MIUI on my HTC One X and I think I might have bricked it.
MIUI wasn't loading properly, it was caught in the load screen animation. So I went back into TWRP and I cleared the caches and erased some other stuff. (I can't remember.) Then I went to reinstall and all of my files were gone. Also, it said that my phone didn't have an OS. When I go into mount it as a USB drive, my computer doesn't recognize its drive type and tells me to format it.
Did I just create the most expensive 9GB hard drive or is there still hope?

Only format data and cache partitions. You shouldn't ever need to format the system, and never format any other partitions.
Try to restore a backup like the previous poster states, if you do not have a backup...
Download a ROM on your computer, mount USB storage, transfer the ROM, unmount storage, flash the ROM.

I had that same thought, however, my computer wont let me transfer because it doesn't let me recognize the file system. It tells me to format it.

Format it, its corrupted
Something is wrong with twrp because it does this sometimes when you format system
Then transfer over a ROM to flash
Sent from my HTC One XL
Did you accidentally select factory reset or clear storage while in bootloader? That will corrupt the memory as well.
He factory reseted. Reformat your sdcard. Plug in phone and transfer ROM.
It sounds to me your on new hboot and didn't flash kernel with fast boot. That's why it wouldn't boot so in a panic you factory erased. Correct?

The easiest way to do this is relock bootloader and run a RUU.
I am ashamed to admit I did this too; however, I was trying to install CM10 and deleted my recovery using flashgui luckily I was able to flash twrp, the boot.img and then load the zip for CM10. I am still looking for a method of getting back to the stock rom, but I feel lucky to have a working phone again.

Why relock and ruu back if he don't have to? He has to format the sdcard regardless... so he should just download viper 2.1.2 and transfer to phone. Flash the entire rom and bam, he's back in business...

[Q] TWRP wont let me flash rom, no OS installed

Well i was trying to install cleanROM 5.1 and cleanKERNEL on my HOX, but every time i would try it would say failed (unable to mount /sdcard, etc.) so i wiped my cache, did a factory reset, wiped external storage, then accidentally did a system reset so i have no OS installed now, i was running 2.20 before but found a tut to unlock bootloader and root. in bootloader it says ***tampered*** and ***unlocked***
So if i have a custom recovery installed that means im rooted right?
and basically what can i do to install this rom and kernel without an error

[Q] Bricked my HTC One S

Hi all,
Got mine today, tried to install a ROM and it got stuck in bootloop.
I did a number of stupid things not to mention wiping the SD and im in serious trouble.

Thanks
Hold down the power button for 10 seconds then after the touch buttons stop flashing, just hold the volume button and see if ot enters the bootloader.

Specifically you'll have to flash the ROM zip file from the recovery and then use fastboot flash boot boot.img.
You can find boot.img inside the ROM zip file
Tried flashing ROM zip but no joy...when should i flash boot img? before or after recovery?

Finally seem to have done it and managed to RUU
The phone is locked to 3 but as a noob I spent 2 days flashing a generic euro ROM.
When i realised i need a ROM to match CID i downloaded 1.53. Tried this a number of times with no joy.
Just tried 1.78 and it seems to be working
Thanks to everyone for your help - us noobs must be sooooooo annoying.
Htc One S bricked
Hi im relatively new at rooting and am currently experiencing issues with a bricked device.
i have two htc one s devices
my personal one is running cm10 ville with clockwork touch recovery and is working perfectly
however the second one i was using the same exact files.
this one is bricked
its in a constant bootloop.
i can get back to my recovery just fine and get to the fastboot in the phone fine
i cleared my cache
wiped my data and wiped the dalvik cache all perfectly fine when i try to flash the cm10 official rom back on it cannot mount the sd card
i would try to install a different recovery and try again maybe using viper one s
but i cannot get the phone to power on
it doesnt showup on the computer when it is plugged in while in fastboot
when i try the cmd fastboot flash recovery it says waiting for device
any advice. this is not my own phone so i need it repaired pretty quickly.
any helpful information would be much appreciated.

Bootloop does not mean your bricked...means you need to fastboot flash boot.img

This little post just pulled me out of missery. Love ya man!
all you guys getting sorted
make a nandroid and sdcard bu NOW and put them on pc,
obviously leave a copy of nandroid on phone also
makes it a lot easier if you get in trouble again
and you/we will
Mounts and Storage --> Format everything --> Now Mount USB Drive --> Put Gapps and ROM
Flash it, erase cache & and Dalvik...Blah blah blah. Flash boot.img in fastboot, and there you go.
Everybody, please remember this and there won't be noob q&a anymore...
