[Q] OTA ICS Update while on first ICS Leak. - Motorola Atrix 2

Is it Ok to Update OTA ICS Update received when My atrix 2 currently running on first ICS Leak
When i tried System Updates i got a message like you can update from 67.21.123.MB865.ATT.en.US to 67.21.125.MB865.ATT.en.US
So Please let me know if somebody updated like this and facing any problem.
Or is it better to go back to 2.3.5/6 using FXZ script and update the OTA ???

Gd 2008 and 3 posts lol..... Ok first off questions go in Q&A.....Second try the search feature the answer is all over the place..... Ok so yes you could OTA from ICS leak NOW READ THIS CAREFUL if you do an OTA from ICS to .125 there is now no known way back..... What you are on now is known around here as LEAK #1 and there is a script to return to 2.3.5 or 2.3.6 (IF THE SCRIPT IS NOT USED YOU WILL BRICK) AGAIN if you OTA from LEAK #1 to .125 you will be stuck there..... Best bet is to stay where you are now or try a custom rom like CM10..... READ AROUND FOR A WHILE you will learn alot.....

First lets get something straight there is absolutely no problem in OTAing even if you are on the first leak.Hell on the upside of it all you'll be on the official ICS(yeah OTAing will make the leak official). So go ahead you wont have any problems.
Well the other side of the coin is that while currently we have a way(script) for leak 1 to take you back to stock fxz in case you mess anything up in your phone. There is absolutely no way to correct your wrong doings once you OTA from the leak.So personally and i think many others would agree you could probably hold off from OTAing it.
But hey that really depends on you.If you are happy with ICS and are not into playing with roms or system partitions or with the phone in general then sure go ahead do the OTA.But just in case if you like to get your hands dirty you better keep away from the OTA.
And just so you dont get me wrong you can still do watever the hell you want with the phone even after the OTA its just that if you end up in a bootloop or can't even recover then you'll b in a major soup.
And yeah i'm the vitim of this reckless choice.yeah i OTA'ed it from the first leak and now its like my hands are tied.i'm too afraid to try any other ROM so i hope you'll learn fron my mistake and choose wisely.

[Q] Unroot, Carrier patches, etc

I couldn't find anything based on an Unroot thread, as well as some generalized questions.
SOMETIMES, phone devs, and the carriers, put out patches that actually correct some ugly known issues. Correct me if i'm wrong, but if i root, i'm led to believe i can not download carrier patches and updates.
My concern is If I root and there's by chance some JESUS patch that is issued that corrects reception issues, power cycle, etc. Is there a way to unroot the device.
First post by the way, go easy.
Edit: OH also, I forgot to mention, from what im reading around 2.3.6 seems to be the current version out for at&t however i'm only on 2.3.5 i've tried pushing the update by checking through settings>updates. It's telling me however that there aren't any available? Or did they pull the update for some reason?

[Solved] Flashing roms based on official ics while staying on leak

Hey guys..sorry if this que seems silly..i love the current version of the ics leak and i dont want to upgrade to the official version when it comes out (because i have to downgrade and upgrade and so lazy for that)..so can i flash roms based on official release while staying on the current leak??

Ok, before the sharks all jump all over, let me say that you ask a good question. The problem is that you are a bit early in asking, and by the time we actually have an official release, your question will probably already be answered by the devs without anyone having to ask. Believe me, most of us that finally jumped to the ICS leak will be wanting to know the same thing...there's just no way to know now...although I seeing how other issues have been worked out I would be willing to bet my mother-in-law that there will eventually be no problem upgrading from the leak to any other ROM based on an official release.
Yeah you will be good to go if you do not install the OTA. We are also working on a way for those on the leak to still install the OTA, it wont be ready on day one, but soon enough after we should have that worked out too.
As far as custom roms based on the OTA, but staying on the leak, you should not have any issues since it is all ICS.

[SOLVED] Will a brickbug affected ICS P6200 hardbrick upon rooting?

Hello,
ICS was not flashed on this tablet (updated through kies or is this method dangerous/considered flashing as well?) and I am not planning on flashing a custom mod after the root (I mainly want to use adb without root restrictions), so this bug should not affect my device because the sticky on the development section says "...should refrain from flashing any type of ICS ROM or ODIN package" and mentions nothing about how rooting the tablet causes the problem, right?
I am also asking this because the steps (from the thread below) on rooting a P6200 running ICS are similar to those of a factory reset which can cause this problem and because CWM is needed/recommended (do I need it? does it flash safely?) only for rooting ICS and not for rooting Honeycomb as it was not included in the OP of the tutorial thread on rooting honeycomb in the android development section.
Also, would a root hinder my ability to update the p6200 with kies to a possible jellybean in the future?

To make it short: No!
The danger of such a brick only occurs, when u try to wipe/format/flash in stock 3e recovery. Especially in leaked ICS stock ROMs. You are totally safe when using custom recovery like aorth's cwm 6.0.1.0. I have that bad emmc revision too, and were flashing firmwares and root a plenty of times now. Still good.
Anyhow, someone released a emmc partition scanner in N7000 forums a couple of days ago(those guys have that problem too). It scans for bricked blocks in your partition. Looks like we have a way to soft fix this soon. Original xda news: http://www.xda-developers.com/android/partition-scanner-helps-your-emmc-bricked-devices/

I read a bit through it, and it actually IS a solution around bricked blocks after emmc brick bug already. He even provides PIT's for p6200 and WiFi only version.
So if u know Linux a bit, you can actually fix it by yourself.
Original thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1667886
And don't worry about OTA updates from Samsung, I am running jellybean on my tab already and believe me: even with a few bugs its a thousand times better than the ICS stock bloatware ROM. I was thinking like you too. Than I got the official ICS update after months of waiting and I thought: *WTF is this??? This is even more crappy than honeycomb!!* So I downloaded CM9 from aorth, flashed it and: * yeah, this is much much better and smoother*
Now I am running JB 4.1.1 CM10 from aorth and iam happy even more!! =D.

I thought all flashes with an ICS p6200 will cause the brickbug, this will allow me to do much more than rooting with my device. Many thanks for clearing that up and for the news/thread about the brickbug (I definitely will look into that) .

It certainly was a long wait for ICS, I guess stock JB will take just as long (maybe even longer because of the galaxy tab2). I will try flashing JB/CM10 but I better familiarize myself with linux commands and android in general first, just in case I will need to fix something.

I highly doubt we will ever see stock jb... You don't really need to know Linux c though, it helps, but not necessary. I'm running aorth's jb on my tab and honestly it's probably better than anything that Samsung could put out. I've always been a fan of aosp, and cm will be the closest we will get to that.

What i meant by giving you that link was if you posted in there it would have been easy for all to have a look at your situation and help you out.
But anyways the problem you are referring to is definitely a strange one. There is a way to get back to ICS Leak1 but that is for AT&T only and is quite cryptic at the moment. If you don't know what you are doing I won't suggest going forward with that. However with a few trials i was able to get back to ICS Leak1.So what can I say try it if you really want.
A script is also available that is supposed to automate the process but hasn't been tested successfully yet.So that i would definitely suggest avoiding.

Post a screenshot of your about phone screen. If the kernel build has a mid july build date, then it is leak 1 and you can go back to GB using my script in the dev section.
Otherwise you can only run ICS based ROMs (yes you can run any ROM that is ICS based, just not GB based ones).
If you have issues it is easy to use the ICS FXZ, as we did not have that yet when leak one and two were out. Hence the issues and bricks. You MUST know which version of the phone though (ATT, Asian, or HK) To properly use an FXZ, or you have a chance to brick.
Had to break out my optimus v, and I would like to personally thank you for responding so quick. I expected to get really beat up I have been following you all for years and I know how it is horrible to be redundant here. Well my new friend it looks like I am on week 2. I do not know what to do where I should go from here but I will tell you what more stable even stock would be better even if it is a ICS leak. I don't know why they call it a leak if it came over the air does that mean AT&T in Motorola send out experimental software? the fact that I'm posting speaks to the power that this phone is an anomaly. Through the years I have never once had to post. All of my hard questions have been answered by you all in advance.

Going back to gingerbread is worthless. It'd be like going from Windows 7 back to xp.
We don't use bootstrap anymore, and If you have I'd fxz to stock, root it, and then install boot menu manager, or BMM. then can flash the newer stuff.
But be aware the what your on and Numa are the only fully functional and stable ones we have.
