ICS does not support USB mass storage. I know with the official version you use MTP (media transfer protocol) but I'm not sure if it works with custom builds.
One way around this is if you have an micro SD card adapter and SD card slot on your computer.
Okay thx. i have a external sd card and can put it into my computer. But i thought i've done something wrong.

Music on SD Card

Morning all,
I have about 8 gig of music I would like to put on the SD card of my Xoom. What music player does everyone use to play music on the card, and how do you get the music onto the card? Is it as easy as a copy from a Windows PC where the Xoom is attached to via USB, as I seem to be having issues doing this?
Thanks,
Steve
The stock player will do just fine? Also, the xoom is recognized as any other removable usb device under Windows

Do you have USB Debugging turned on in order to make this work? I cannot seem to format the SD card from a Windows PC. Should this work too?
I failed to mention I am running Team EOS ROM 1.0 for Stingray.

USB Hosting and Root Questions

Hi All
Before opening this topic I have searched to find answers on my questions but no results.
I got Xoom WIFI MZ604
It is not rooted and was automatically updated to 4.0.4 version.
Now I have just received USB Hosting Cable and want to transfer files directly from my camera to Xoom device. Or from Flash Card or use Card Reader on Xoom.
But unfortunately I have only managed to use USB keyboard and mouse with this device and cable.
So my question is Do I need to Root my Xoom in order to use USB flash drive, Connect Camera and Transfer files, use card-reader?
As I have seen on Youtube people can see images in gallery once they connect camera or USB flash drive.
When I connect USB flash drive and Card Reader to Xoom, Tablet gives power to them and seems it recognizes but cannot access files.
I have tried File Explorer to see Flash from mnt but it doesn't work.
Any suggestions? I really do not want to go back to previous version of Android (I even don't know how to do it and if it is safe)

Connect with USB cable, open Windoz file explorer, drag/drop files. With Windoz it should work just like UMS, although it is now using MTP. Linux is a different story since libmtp has (had?) issues and is not yet transparent. ICS and JB no longer support USB Mass Storage file transfers and have moved to MTP going forward.
Hope that answers your question.

[Q] Impossible connect P3100 and Macbook pro Snow leopard

Hi everyone!
i Have this problem: when i plug my p3100 to my Macbook pro with Mac Os X Snow Leopard the Tab says that is connected and to choose if i want it mounted as an archieve or as a camera. when i check camera i can import phoos from the internal device memory, but i i check archieve nothing happens, with my Galaxy S Plus GT-I9001 when i do so i see the internal and external sd-card as archieve and i can use them as a normal usb drive, but this won't hapen with the p3100. so i tried to install Android File Transfer but it says that is impossible to connectto the device to restart and try again.
I have tried with stock ICS stock JB OTA Update and now with PAC-rom, but it never works ((
i also tried adb! and with adb devices it is detected but if i try to transfer somthing to it via adb push it takes a lot of time and when the process ends i do not have any file on the tab!!!
Can someone help me to figure out how to do connect my tab to the computer and transfer files to it??
Yeah, macs don't support MTP, so the "media device" connection option isn't going to work out of the box. Dunno why Android File Transfer is erroring out though. At this point maybe the simplest solution is to get a MicroSD card and reader and transfer the files by moving the card between devices and using ES File Explorer to move them wherever they need to go.
