Morning all,
I have about 8 gig of music I would like to put on the SD card of my Xoom. What music player does everyone use to play music on the card, and how do you get the music onto the card? Is it as easy as a copy from a Windows PC where the Xoom is attached to via USB, as I seem to be having issues doing this?
Thanks,
Steve
The stock player will do just fine? Also, the xoom is recognized as any other removable usb device under Windows

Do you have USB Debugging turned on in order to make this work? I cannot seem to format the SD card from a Windows PC. Should this work too?
I failed to mention I am running Team EOS ROM 1.0 for Stingray.

Is anyone having usb mass storage issues? before i flashed this ROM i could access all of my files, now only a few folders show up and like .android_secure android.
do i need new drivers?
EDIT: when I plug the phone in its only mounting the /sdcard folder
before I flashed the ROM my phone connected as 2 external drives, one was just /sdcard, the other I could access all folders and files in the phone
Nope working great for me..
I noticed that it says only the sdcard is mounted in the mass storage screen. Was this the same for froyo? because I could access everything (split in 2 drives) from my computer before
I like the fact that I can access external and device memory through my computer. When u update to gb you can kiss that goodbye. Gb is great but its small things like that that will keep me with froyo

I had the same problem. All I needed to do is just pull out the microSD card while the phone is still running, and put it back in. I havent had an issue with this after that.
I deleted my LG drivers while using CM7 and now it works great. Pulls up both SD cards.

I am having the same issue. I am going to try the suggestion of removing and re inserting the sd card while the phone is on.... hopefully it works, or I will have to go back to froyo...
update: tried it, and while it does remount the sd card so your phone will read it, it's more simple to juist go in to setting and remount it from there. This still doesn't fix being able to read the sd card through mass storage mode.
I don't have that problem, I don't know how many LG drivers I installed until I find out that's my USB port's fault, just plug it in another USB port...

so I swapped out the g2x - rooted the new one, installed the gb leaked update and again I am having the same issues with it unmounting the sd card when i plug it to the comp and enable mass storage mode. So now it's the same issue with two different phones. Those who are having the issue , what type of memory card are you using because that if the only constant I have. I am using a patriot 32gb class 10.

Hello everyone, I am having a problem trying to figure out how to get my Xoom to hook up as a disk drive. It only mounts up as a media device so that I can ONLY xfer music and images. I am trying to drop a CM9 rom on to my SD card. I remember when I rooted it that I had to push the files to the Xoom but I somehow forgot how to do it :O Didn't know if there was any way or just have to push the file to it...
Any help would be greatly appreciated much!
The rom that I currently have is as followed:
[ROM][Nightly][ICS] Team Eos WiFi Nightlies (Wingray/MZ604)

Why not just use an adapter or card reader and drop it directly from your pc?

I did, but when I go into recovery it does not show up. When I try to click on, install .zip from sd card, nothing is in there.
Its weird, when I click on "Xoom" from "my computer" I can either choose SD card or Internal storage, once I drop a files into my sd card and try to find it on my Xoom, its totally missing, but still on my computer...
I tried going into recovery and keeping the Xoom connecting and mounting to USB storage, but when I do that, it recognizes it in my computer as "disk G" and when I click on it it says please insert a disc etc.
I am totally lost and totally irritated, I just want to flash CM9!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can you not download the CM9 directly onto your Xoom from their website without having to use your PC? The reason I'm asking is that I also had loads of issues when connecting the Xoom to the PC or Mac, and having to take out the SD card and pop it into a card reader is also a pain as you have to turn off your Xoom first. By far the easiest solution for me was just to download CM9 directly onto the Xoom's internal memory and then manually move it to the external SD card. Easy peasy...
In command prompt
Adb push <filename> <xoom path>
Example:
adb push cm9.zip /mnt/sdcard/CM9-Files/
That assumes either adb is in your path and your have changed to the directory of the file you are pushing...or...adb is in the same directory as the file being pushed.

Why do you have to turn your xoom off to take the SD card out? Just go to settings>storage and scroll down to your sdcard and unmount it then take it out. Just tested it and it works fine.

So when I plug my USB flash drive in my phone running newest kingkang and b6 kernel I get a damaged SD card notification. I switched to a card reader with a SD card and it works fine now. So I formatted my drive to nfts and it worked but when I unplugged it it became damaged again and the file explorer shows the device is still connected when it isn't and none of the files actually copied over. The device has always worked just not with android. Any ideas?

can you format the drive with your phone instead of computer? maybe it needs to be partitioned a certain way.
Run a chkdsk or fsck on it.

So I reinstalled a sense Rom and the USB drive works perfect so it must be kingkang not my usb

Yes. If you have a dedicated card-reader for your PC then it will almost certainly be quicker for transfering the files than using your phone in the middle.

g8.close thread.
What phone are you actually using? If you're trying to transfer files from your PC to your Phone, by using its USB cable should make the work easily done. But if its an older phone, a card reader is the best option that you can get. Just in case that you are using a smartphone that kinda latest or even not quite latest, you can try using AirMore. Its an app that you can use to wirelessly transfer your files from phone to PC and vice versa.
