Camera Apps for AOSP - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

CM10/AOKP may not have the Sense camera, but the the Play store seems to have some viable alternatives. What camera Apps would you guys recommend for the HOX?
Running AOKP Build 3 if that makes any difference.

If you are looking for something similar in quality to the Sense cam, I think you may be out of luck. It has to do with the camera framework being specific to Sense. AOKP and AOSP roms don't have the same integration to 'unlock' the same quality. Or so the internet told me

AOSP does not have the same drivers for the camera/camcorder hardware that Sense has. HTC made the drivers specifically for Sense, and specifically for the camera that the HOX has, so obviously, the Sense camera will ALWAYS be better.
AOSP ROMs are currently using an open-source camera/camcorder driver, so yes it can be improved and the possibility IS there for it to be just as good, if not better, than the Sense camera, but it is VERY hard since HTC doesn't help out at all

Both of you are missing the point, reread the op he is asking for a alternative camera for aosp as the stock one sucks
Try to find the miui camera. Its much better than the aosp one

Can I ask a similar, related question? Do the 3rd party camera apps mentioned above work on Sense ROMs too?

[Request] Htc Camera on CM7

I really dislike sense but the camera software is much better looking than the asop camera. I know someone did it on cm5. And enthomer was able to make it work on froyo. So would anyone be interested in giving it a shot for gingerbread?

Try MIUICamera .......its a closer Sense Camera alternative...
Just pull the apk from an miui rom and install?

found this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1000445
I would love a way to port the HTC camera to cm7 and, more to my preference, MIUI. Not sure how feasibile it is because I thought the application is tied into the framework of sense.

the miui camera is a good alternative, just install this zip or push the apk inside the zip to system/app
That miui camera is a good alternative. Thanks for the tip.

Edit
nvmd I got it the bad thing is that it doesn't have the ffc option
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
what is FFC option? Been looking for the HTC sense camera myself over the CM7 cam. Pongsters GBX camera is decent though. Ah nvm, I guess the GBX camera is this MIUI camera. Only feature its missing for me is the ability to preview the picture after taking it until you tap, and allowing you to delete it right away.

Dear guys ...
sorry to pick up this thread again ... but, is there still no way to get the htc camera working on CM7?
No dear, till not no any such thing available for now....
Any Idea´s why it´s not working? ... what did HTC do with the APK, is the camera using diffrent drivers or so`?
One thing missing in the MIUI camera is the panoramic feature. I wish they add that option soon.

[Q] Sense camera for ICS 4.0.4 (CM9)

Hi All,
I have been looking for a sense camera build for stock android versions, does one of you know where I can find it?
I have tried both the high quality camera mod and the miui camera, but I prefer the interface of the sense one.
Thank you very much for your help

Sorry for the wrong place,
But is it not possible because of some missing sense framework or something like that?
Can you maybe recommend an other camera app? I like the quality of the modded one, but it's not fullscreen..
Thanks!

Sense framework and other files are not present in AOKP/AOSP/CM builds therefore no sense apps will run.
I use either the sense camera app or camera zoom fx (I got it when it was 5p )

AOSP vs Sense Picture quality

Has anyone noticed a difference in the quality of pictures taken when using a sense rom compared to an aosp rom (or rather the sense camera vs the aosp camera)? I have yet to analyze them on a computer, but from the gallery there seems to be a difference. Am I just crazy?

You are not crazy. HTC hasn't fully released all source pertaining to camera...that would explain the sub par quality.

Yeah I was sure there was something to it. Maybe that imagesense software or the dedicated chip the camera uses. Good to know I'm not losing it

I'd say the camera on aosp is very low quality. Even htc inspire got it better
I dont think you can beat the sense camera, thats the main thing holding me back from using aosp ROMs lol
Would it be possible at all to get the Sense camera working on an AOSP ROM? I've been contemplating going back to AOKP from KingCobra1X but the camera is a serious plus to Sense :/

Camera quality depending on Rom ?

Does the camera quality of our phone depend on what Rom we use.
I was on viper 2.0.0 and camera was great even front facing was great too.
But when I switched to trickdroid tmobile version quality went down.
Anyone else?

Camera quality is higher in stock roms 'cause drivers for the special image chip are only for stock. Thats why you see lack of quality comparing aosp rom photos with stock rom photos.

but i thought trickdroid 7.0.0 was based off of tmobile stock rom?
Oh, sorry for that, I dind't read well. Yes, it should have nice quality. Try installing ZeroCamera that is in dev section, and see if it improves camera quality.

Should work on all One S and One X phones that are Sense based.
From what dzo (the recognized camera expert for the HOS) says, there is no difference in quality between shots taken using the stock camera or even AOSP. I have noticed some speed and feature differences in the cameras, but the photos look close to stock for me on AOSP based ROMs.
The difference lies with how the camera app saves and compresses the image, if it applies any filter etc etc.

Best non sense camera?

I am considering moving away from sense 5 to a kitkat Rom of some sort. I know that the sense camera is the best around but of course this is not available for non sense Roms.
Can anyone recommend a good camera app? I would like the option of taking hdr shots and panoramic. Also I'm interested in photosphere.
Maybe the stock kitkat camera is good.. I don't know yet as I haven't worked up the courage to downgrade hboot to 2.15...
All recommendations welcome

That's a tough one. There might not be any true replacement for the sense camera. I just installed Beanstalk 4.4 ROM and I found the stock camera to be horrible. Instead I am using Camera MX. I even tested the two side-by-side while I was still running sense and I would say that camera MX is pretty comparable for standard shots. Unfortunately it doesn't do panorama.
I am also hoping to try ProCapture which DOES do panorama.
