First off, I looked for a thread like this but only found threads mentioning specific games from the Sammy app store (which I was surprised about).
So, this thread is for any discussion related by the Samsung App Store.
So things like - new apps that become available for free or a much cheaper price (that way, we all benefit from it ), what games/apps you'd like to see on there (especially for free. After all, we're all about sharing), whether you'd like to see other manufacturers take the same initiative etc.
I'll kick-start this discussion by saying that the best app I've got from there recently was NFS Hot Pursuit for free.
Obviously it's a great game with great graphics to boot, but the oy downside was how easy the game was. But I guess I can't moan too much, considering it was free
Advice to app developers: if you develop something, put it on the Samsung App Store too.
Due to the huge number of apps on the Play Store, people tend to find apps more easily on the Samsung App Store.. so you tend to get more downloads there.
That's a great idea actually.
I'm in the early stages of learning how to make apps and I'll definitely bare that in mind when it's my time to shine

Yes it does. It contains a wide range of apps and games covering different genres.
Just a smaller version of the Google Play Store.

What would you like to see on the Sammy app store?
One game I think would be great would be Max Payne Mobile. It was a brilliant addition to Android as a whole and I think it would be great to see it on here.
App wise, I'm not too sure at the moment but I think there should be a greater choice in general though.

the sammy app store is quite empty now.. hoping that devs would help fill up the spaces in sammy app store and take it as an extra income because more people can discover ur apps and app searching in the samsung app store is much better.
I want Speaktoit Assistant and Bad Piggies

I agree...
Last I had used the Samsung App Store was back in April...
There were just a bunch of games and fart apps (pointless apps with no purpose)...
And even the games were trial versions...

4. Lots of other things I can't think of right now..
Sports score something that can give u in real time NFL, Baseball, Basketball, NCAA, scores in real time with score boxes etc Sportacular comes to mind
Something to track UPS, USPS, Fedex packages (Deliveries on iPhone for example)
Tip calculator
Something similar to qTweeter where it allows you to update facebook/tweeter
Before anybody calls me an Apple fanboy I love my HD2. I came from an iphone 2g/3G 16 gig and will never go back but it is lacking a few apps!
It really is. I hate how everyone refuses to acknowledge and do anything about this (both Microsoft and HTC). Fact is, I just think either the programming part of it or business part of it just fails to impress any of the programmers. They decided to either do iPhone apps or Android apps. NOW Windows is coming out with WM7, a new way or programs and it's just throwing a wrench into the system of all the past windows mobile phones. Seriously, who monitors this **** and just says "it's ok, do it".
i love my hd2 more than my iphone just because of the big screen... but its lacking of apps is a major letdown...

OP... you are looking at it entirely wrong.. its not about what specific apps it is missing....its about being able to get a specific app at any given time whenever it is that i please.... The Apple Store and Android Open Source Market provides this... Whereas Windows fails sooo hard in that category... There really is no argument... and anyone that defends windows position in this... is either EXTREMELY easily satisfied (like 5 yr old satisfied) or just so blind and ignorrant that they fail to see the obvious truth...
i happen to be one of the users that go onto the windows market and other markets thats surfaced on my hd2 and simply "browse" for cool/ interesting apps that might be fun to check out or play with... I rarely go in with a direct set on initiative to download a specific app... nor do i know of any that does so... its usually browsing the selection.. and that is what we are all talking about... the selection... being able to download something whenever it is we feel like it..
yea??
please don't bring something like this up again in these forums... its bad enough that as a windows mobile user and FAN, you make me go and praise the opposing OS's... but i'm not arrogant to facts... i simply tell it like it is...

There are a couple of these on Marketplace, best one for me being ezytip; more than does the job... Otherwise I agree with everyone else, apps are missing no question about that.
I think ditg asks a very reasonable (good) question. The answers some people come up with are -don't take this personally- pathetic. All I read is there's a lack of games, apps that actually ARE on the market (tip calculator for instance, how many do you want?) and 'and lots of other stuff'. You have to look further than just Marketplace. There are many sites on the internet that offer apps, free or not.
The only real difference as I see it, is that IPhone apps are aggregated to one place namely ITunes whereas WM apps are all over the place though XDA probably comes close to a "marketplace" for WM apps.

you obviously took it a little too seriously... nor did you understand... yes.. i know that i can find app all over the internet.... but what the anroid market and apple store does is offer everything in a convienant location... sure.. call it what you want.. but something so simple like that is a pretty big thing... it's in one simple, easy to access location, organized, and REASONABLY priced... whether it be free or a couple bucks...
its just overall better...

but yea.. try not to take my sarcasm too far... although my initial thoughts and points stay true and valid... i respect your views... but come on... who are we kidding.... although not everything is "black" or "white" if you compare our selection/market to the other OS's, the answer is kinda apparent...
but hey.. to each his own...
The iPhone is a phone and it has it's own operating system, it's own apps and it's own store. Windows Mobile isn't a phone, it's an operating system that a lot of phone manufacturers use. That's why you can find apps all over the internet and not in just one store. I do understand, but I doubt it's a benefit putting apps in one store. Sounds to me a bit like phone-communism .

Haha totally agree with you! The Android market is a complete mess. As much as I love android, the apps are terrible compared to the Apple app store. My roommates iPhone 4 just kills it with all the Badass apps and games.

Man those are great apps? I mean we don't have a browser or an app to view porn or pictures like that. With out these apps how would we survive? I only use the market to get ideas for downloading apps then report the dumb "spam" apps
It's weird that we dont have more going in the quality of our apps..
Theres a huge community behind android!
Google's lax policies are bringing things down a bit though!
I think we should be able to spam those apps with an easy long press and tap!
That way the market would almost take care of itself..
i have to admit... i made a wallpaper app but not one like that.. Basically it is called "Theme Park Wallpaper" Its personal pictures of about 7 different florida theme parks like disney, universal etc..
I do add more photos all the time.
I dont think my app is spam but I agree with the OP that I do not even look at the market daily anymore due to all those other wallpaper apps.
? Where do you even find those on the market? Live wallpapers take up most of the top spots in the Themes section. IMHO most of the apps worth installing (Quality apps) take up the top spots in the market anyway.
Still I agree Google needs to take a broom & sweep that crap out. How fast do they get rid of Spam Apps once they are reported? Anyone know?
Well can all group up & police it (. Yeah I said "police it", big whoop, wanna fight about it? >;(
Sadly the app creator is just going to make things worse
..
Agreed. But how would Google lay claim to 100,000 apps w/o all the soundboards and live wallpapers?

I don't think he was serious but the amazon app store is nice.
I don't blame him for doing this. People were all bent out of shape that it was $6 and he didn't have every rom working flawlessly. They rate bombed his app in the market.
The truth is that even if you only had 3 games working well, that should be worth your $6.
Oh well, now because everyone cried we can sit here with the app in it's current version, and wait 2 months for him to release a finished product instead of having something useable with updates all along the way.
Unrelated, but I just got a notice from google saying that one of my apps (a space invaders emulator) has been removed due to copyright infringement, even though it includes no roms.
I wonder why people complain about it about its sluggishness.
I mean, its not the developers fault that the people don't buy high-end phones.
They expect a 3D emulator to work on a 600mhz proccessor?
I mean, too many apps on ur phone also makes it slow.
Why bother leaving a low rating when its not the developers fault. The emulator runs flawlessly on the Evo, nexus s... (1 ghz+)

Dude are you seriously that cheap! Android apps are most of the time a dollar maybe two. The ones that are more are usually well worth it. Six dollars for something that lets you play N64 games anywhere you go is cheap, and you know you didn't pay for any of the 1000 games you have to play for it. Plus With the huge number of free apps, paying a dollar for the one out of every twenty apps is crazy cheap.
Sorry for the rant, but stealing a android app is like stealing from a guy with a morgage and a family vs a movie is coming out of a mega corporations pocket. Most of the Developers in the market and on here make all this awesome stuff because they like too, with the added side effect of making money. Support the developers so they will keep make cool stuff!

If they enter into the app development world, they've got to know/expect that people will pirate their apps. It's inevitable. If they get butthurt about it and stop updating their apps because of that, then they probably don't have what it takes to compete in this arena.
Having said that... I've paid for the apps that are on my phone.
Over the past week I've seen people on here and people on other sites say that Go Launcher has malicious code in it and that it steals your data to sell. Me and my mum have both been using it for about a year now. Why would Google let it stay in the market and how could it be one of the most popular launchers if it's malicous?
Is there really something wrong with it?
No, it just started embracing ads since it's free :\

What is it with everyone hating on ads! I mean seriously! If you hate ads or think they are dangerous which they are not, then be willing purchase an app...which 99% of you will not obviously...that's why ads exist. I stopped using Go Launcher because it was running services for apps/Go Plugins I didn't install. That was the final straw, really. I found that it became really bloated and overly complex. The Go Launcher team are introducing too many functions IMHO and not focusing on what they do best: making an excellent, flexible launcher. I do miss it in some ways. You won't find as much flexibility for free...
These kinda threads always make me laugh. If you want privacy, lock yourself in your house and never go outside, never go online, never use your phone, send a "trusted" person to buy your groceries.
What are they gonna do? Sneak in, steal the hot pics your gf sent you on whatsapp? Attempt a home invasion and rob you of your playboys? Or heaven forbid, forward the hot pics your mistress sent to your mom and your wife/gf.
So what if they serve ads? Dont like it, use another app. These developers need to earn a living too, they use a model that provides you with FREE software for your phone, to use at your discretion. Go Launcher is by far the best launcher out there, it kicks the pants off anything that comes at a price too. If you dont like ads, dont use themes which push ads. Its that simple. Or use an app like adfree
Threads like this hurt the OSS/FS community. The privacy issue is actually pretty moot since most users sign up for forums and trial software and gladly hand over personal information. If you silly enough to keep your bank account details on your phone (which you going to hand out via using your credit/debit card at your local convience store anyway, where for all you know al queida has planted sleeper agents) then you deserve to have your wife see what you and your mistress get up to
Go launcher is the best launcher, if there are ads, please support the developer. Tell me one thing that you could do with any other launcher that you cant with go. This ad method is least intrusive, must be encouraged as means for developers to permit core functionalities free

Yeah, exactly, the crappy notification spam comes from themes via AirPush. Nice to see some antimalware apps start detecting this crap. I have nothing against banners, spamming notification bar is completely different though. On the Go apps note, Go Keyboard free has exactly this kind of annoying spam.
So I have been working on this app for awhile now and I want to know if there will be enough support behind it to make it worth it to even publish on the play store.
What my app does:
It is a study tool for the AP US History course (the type you take in college). It cycles through the questions and for every question it gives you 4 possible answers, and you select the one you think is correct just like a multiple choice test. After, you press "check answer" and it will tell you if you got the answer right or wrong, if you got it wrong it will give you the option to try the question again or skip it. You can also go back to previous questions if you accidentally skipped a question and wanted to go back. I looked at the play store and there really is no app that I believe would help as much as mine. I took AP US History this last year and it is a VERY rigorous course, but I built what I learned in that course into my app. Now, you can get study books to help prepare for the AP tests and all but those range from $30-$50 (Depending on how in-depth they are), but my app, which I hope will provide the same material, will only be $1 or $2 if I publish it.
Why I am coming to you guys for advice:
I do think my app is good and well written but then I think that there will not be a large market for my app, and if I am only gonna get a couple of sales, I was just gonna put it out for free. Now I have worked diligently on this app and would like to be paid for it, but only if the market is there. So would any of you be interested in buying this app if it were on the store? (I can also make different apps for different subjects as well if you would like me to do that)
If you are interested and would like to see my app before you make your decision, PM me and I can send you a sample version which only has 5 questions (the final build will have 100+) but it will give you a good idea of how the app works and feels. Please give me your feedback on this XDA!
This is a quick demo of my app:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iw30bkwUvkI&feature=youtu.be

well i did add a system where it tells you how many you have correct and incorrect but i dont think that is exactly what you mean
Just my 2 cents...
Put this out for free...get the platform rock solid and bug free. THEN expand! Get it touch with like minded people and they can supply material from their courses and text books. I think at the moment this app will struggle to make you Much money due to its small target audience (who also happen to be students, and most students hate spending money
BUT... If you get it solid, make it easy to add/update new subject matter....it could work....just think...maybe schools might use it to help get kids to study as kids hate to get off their phone and hit the books. Maybe Universities/colleges would like to put a version out for all their courses...
Anyway you see what I'm getting at....
That was probably 4 cents worth....
