worked for me. what changed?
Somehow it's possible for the message center to get corrupted/lost... Happened to me too.
Looks like the OP solved the problem, but I have this issue with my microcell. I can text everywhere but home. I have to try resending some texts 3-4 times. There is an new iphone in the house that has no issues, nor did my old 3gs have any issues on the microcell.
My wife and I have the same issue. Granted when we aren't at home and the signal is still low we will have failed texts but at home its horrible. I think AT&T is full of crap and the Mcell doesn't handle SMS and MMS as it should.
There is a thread here called "text message issues (infused)" I can't post links yet...but it refers to microcell and texting issues. It says there are posts that discuss fixing it, but I can't seem to find anything.
The other day I only had one or two fail, but today had been worse than normal, every single text fails at least twice. Really starting to wear on my nerves.

I have the same problem with my phone. I just got an Infuse less than 2 weeks ago. Before that I had an HTC Aria, a Palm Pre Plus, and an iPhone 3G. None of those phones had problems with the mCell from AT&T or texts, but my Infuse immediately had trouble sending texts, and only on the mCell. I guess the Infuse and the microcell don't play nice together. Wonder if AT&T will fix it? We'll probably have better luck with a dev figuring it out for us first.
I had the same issue with MicroCell with the phone on WIFI. Once I turned of the wifi, the message usually sends without a hitch. Maybe it has something to do with the cellular connection not staying alive while on wifi with the microcell?

I think I tried this already, with no luck, but I'll try again once I get back home.
Sometimes it took a few seconds after I disabled WiFi, but it solves the problem 90% of the time for me.

It also sometimes happens minus the microcell, which leads me to believe it has something to do with WiFi.... personally
You may be on to something with the wifi. I have tried it for the past two days without wifi on and all of my texts have gone through. Could just be a coincidence, I'm going to do some more testing in the next few days to see what happens turning wifi back on and off.

Had the same problem on my phone as well, was worried i messed up my kernal or something like that... worked like a charm. thanks!!!
Is there different messaging center #'s? I reverted back to stock so I could do the ota update to the new firmware, then I installed the community kernel and somehow it erased that #. I input the 1321....# and it works like a charm now. I dont want to get hit with any fees or surprises so just wanted to make sure the messaging center # was the same for all phones.
I am in search of an app to text over wifi. At my sisters house I don't get good service and I have people to text...but everyone is all about the whatsapp messanger but I cannot for the life of me figure it out... they say they will send me a message to verify but I never get a message :/ I deleted it and reinstalled it but no luck so any other ideas? Or help with that?

I use Text+ and have found it to be great. Though it does give a different number my wife just put it in her address book as my tablet. I can at least use it both on my phone and tablet and still have the same number for both.
I might have to try one of these. When I go hang out a my cousins house my phone switches the network to telcel since we are close to the border so this would help me out some.
Gosms is nice..
*Kingpin... get it?*
I use mysms. I can use it from the PC, tablet and phone, and it syncs the message throughout all my devices. Its also free from the market.

This is what I use on my Kindle Fire, and it works alright. Not sure if it has a notification alert.
I'm having the most random issue no matter the ROM. On LTE I usually hit 40mbp/s down and 15mbp/s up and every single app uses this just fine...except for Facebook. I have to use WiFi for Facebook otherwise only about %25 of whatever page I'm on loads. The WiFi in the house is 3/1.5 so nowhere near as fast as LTE. I've installed a few different ROMs, tried uninstalling and reinstalling Facebook to no avail. Any ideas?

I think it's Facebook I have had the same problem also with you tube but it's alittle better now
stripped apart rebuilt with Clean Rom&XdaTechnology!!!
I am having this exact same issue. Facebook only works on WiFi. If I am on 4G I get tons of authentication issues. Only half of my news feed and profile will load on 4G. I have used Odin and went back to stock, uninstalled/reinstalled Facebook, and tried different radios. I called Verizon about this and they have no idea what is wrong. They are supposed to send the issue to the network team and then call me back.
I did notice that Facebook thinks I am in Cheyenne, WY instead of Pittsburgh, Pa. If you log into Facebook on a computer you can look at your active sessions. It shows devices and locations. If I log in while on WiFi it reports that I am in Pittsburgh.
This is a very bizarre issue. Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be causing the issue? It seems like a network issue to me.

I've got no issue with Facebook working over LTE/ mobile data. Maybe its an issue with the service in your area? If you haven't maybe try clearing the apps cache/data and relog back in

As the title says, I cannot access my hotmail email account via any email apps (Stock, Aqua, K9, MailDroid) while connected to the T-Mobile network. Internet access works just fine.
Now, if I connect to a WiFi network using the same settings, not changing anything, it will work just fine.
I contacted T-Mobile, and they said I need to contact Google about this problem, as it's not their fault that no apps can connect via their network.
So, XDA members, what do I do?
Switch providers! Sure that would mean moving to Canada if you wanted to use another provider that supports the Sidekick, but would that really be so bad?
In all seriousness, I have utterly no idea.
It's a Microsoft conspiracy. They want you to switch to Windows Phone. Just kidding.
Sorry. No clue on that one. It seems like the apps are configured to only work on wifi.

No idea
If it was all apps, I would suggest talking to T-mobile about the status of your ESN, but you indicated you had net access otherwise.
Sent from my SGH-T839 using xda app-developers app
Yeah, I have net access otherwise just fine. Even my gmail works fine over T-Mobile. But trying to access my hotmail via it, will tell me "Cannot connect to server", or a variation on that error depending on what email app it is.
Wifi works just fine... I don't know what to do. T-Mobile is still adamant that their network is fine, and I need to "Call the Google" , as a rep stated. XD

I'm pretty sure it's just the web interface changing, and phasing out the old web interface. the email addresses remain the same.
That's exactly what it is, just saying I have never had an issue with gmail on an android
But maybe. This may help

I decided to root my handset yesterday, all went well and that handset has been rooted successfully. I've kept it entirely stock, no ROM or kernels. I am experiencing what seems to be a connectivity issue. If I connect to WiFi my signal bars turn white, indicating a connection to the Google servers however, when I disconnect my signal bars turn orange.....full HSDPA signal but are orange.....stranger still that I am actually able to connect to the internet with no issues. I've searched and people are saying that the orange signal bars indicate no connection to Google servers and in turn this means no internet connection? Does anybody know of a fix or have an explanation? All was well before I rooted and unlocked the boot loader.

Rooting can't cause this. Can you receive gmail?
That's exactly what I thought! I've rooted handsets before and never had an issue connecting to Google servers etc. Yeah I can receive gmail, but I need to do it manually, it doesn't seem to be pushed through like before. I thought at first it was an issue with the APN but I've checked and reset it to default, still getting these damn orange bars. The arrows at the side suggest I am sending/receiving data though......I've attached a PIC.

I thought the orange bars there indicate that you're roaming.
Orange bars means that its not connected to Google servers.

Orange means you are not connected to the internet.
Try reset your wireless router/setting.

Orange bars means that you are not connected to Google servers and cant receive notifications, it does not necessarily mean that you are not connected to the internet.
Try doing a factory reset.
go to accounts
remove your google account
once u do it may ask to enter a backup account
re enter your google credentials
reboot

If Chaco81's solution works, please let me know.
As several others have mentioned to you, it means you are not connected to Google services. This happens to me randomly, and I have yet to find a solution. Sometimes I just wait it out, and it magically starts working again after a few minutes. Sometimes I reboot, and that seems to work 75% of the time, but because it isn't 100%, it makes me think it's no different than waiting it out, it just makes me feel like I'm doing something. This has happened to me on various ROMs (including stock) on my Nexus 4, Moto X, and Nexus 5. It is very frustrating, and I can't seem to locate a cause or a fool-proof solution other than waiting.
EDIT

I highly discourage doing a factory reset for this problem, especially if you have no backup program like Helium or Titanium. I have never had to do a factory reset for this problem to correct itself, and seeing as it happens to me randomly no matter the device or ROM (and I always do a full wipe moving between ROMS), I do not think this is actually a solution. I think this is just like what I consider rebooting, it doesn't fix the problem, it just adds time in between the problem starting and the problem stopping naturally. Even if it is a 100% sure-fire fix, it will take much longer to reset and fix everything back to how you want it than to just wait it out.

Easiest way to fix it is to get on a WiFi connection. Once it connects to WiFi Google will sync and then turn off WiFi and you will have white bars. This tends to happen to me when my data coverage is low and speeds are down. I don't think the slow speed is able to reach Google servers thru the downlink. Just my thought but I have no clue.

From the look of your notification shade, you are obviously not using the stock ROM. What else has been done to your device?
Without more info on your phone, its tough to give solutions.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
It is completely stock ROM with xposed and gravitybox installed. Apart from that, its pure stock. Even at that the only things I have activated with gravitybox is the notification shade and circle battery mod. Nothing has been touched in way of kernels, radios, WiFi, telephony tweaks etc. Really don't fancy having to reset my device entirely, thanks for the suggestion but I'm not planning on restoring it back and setting it up all over again. As for the WiFi suggestion, it worked for 3min 27sec (yes I timed it) but then, low and behold, the orange bars were back. I've been reading on some Google forums that its an issue in 4.4.2 but it was working fine prior to me rooting. I even put it in to safe mode to see if it was an installed app that was affecting it but that turned up nothing.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
^ OK thanks for clarifying. There are many potential reasons for this issue, so it is hard to track down.
Do you have other android devices? Do those work without issue, in your area, over your cellular connection?
If so, the problem isnt related to your Google account, or your cellular carrier, and must be device related.
If its device related, don't do a factory reset. Instead back up everything you care about and flash a factory image.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
The signal actually came back and turned white for the rest of the day. Then it dropped out to orange again. Think I'll hang on to things the way they are right now and persevere with it and hope that 4.4.3 comes with a fix. Thanks.

I'm on T-Mobile UK, well EE, as it's now known. The issue doesn't SEEM to be affecting things but I honestly can't be sure. In saying that I'm having to manually refresh my gmail and Google now notifications aren't displayed as often as before. There seems to be a few posts online about people with similar issues so there's every chance it is a DNS issue.

yeah, Im running CM11 and stock 4.4.2 rooted, unlocked and with run time ART on N7 and N5. I see this on both ROMs. On stock the icons turns orange for cell and wifi. But on CM11 the wifi icon would change to have a line running through it. I think its the same but with different icons. Both would act the same but both seems to have no advert effect for me tho.
