i need help with modifying / creating the updater script in the meta-inf folder of a custom rom.
the reason for this is that, i just added ota updates to my rom, and everytime i push an update to my device (test), it gives me the following error when installing in cwm:
E:/ failed to load keys
/res/keys No such file or directory.
thats happens when the app tries to do it automatically. then i try it manually by toggling the signature verification in cwm.
and my guess was pretty much that it had something to do with the updater script.
so guys, please help me out and fast!
thankyou!

I've been following the guide to install Cyanogen mod into my defy, but I'm having problems installing it.
When I select the zip from my sdcard, a message appears saying that the recovery program can't find /system/bootmenu/script/recovery, but going to that destination, all of the scripts are there.
Any idea?
Should I remove the file extension?
try redownloading the .zip file.It might be corrupt
I tried to update my 1.53.401.2 to the latest OTA 1.78.401.2.
But with the normal Android OTA method, it gives me an error that it can't find the 7digital3.0.apk file. Of course it can't find it. I deleted it. But I didn't make a backup of it before deleting it
So I tried to copy the OTA zip to the "internal SD card", rename it to update.zip and flash it with CWM Recovery. This also doesn't work. It tells me, that I have a wrong CID (HTC__102).
Could anyone be so kind to upload the 7digital3.0.apk (and .odex) from the 1.53 rom?
Thanks!
Here you go mate, extract it and you will find the files you need...
If the OTA doesnt work, and flashing in recovery fails, open the .zip and modify the android-info.txt to match your CID..
if you dont know your CID, boot into fastboot and using adb type in ''fastboot getvar cid'' Without quotes
There should be an option to have the updater just skip whatever it can't find or which throws up inconsistencies with the DIFF updating...

I just did that now... Modifying the update script and skip updating the pre-installed apps that i deleted. ReZipped, signed, put on sd card, install from cwm recovery.
EDIT: Everything works except the SystemUi.apk... I had the 1% battery mod.
EDIT2: I reinstalled the correct SystemUI.apk by flashing the stock battery SystemUI.apk for 1.78, but since it crashed the first time, it won't start anymore at boot... Anyone knows how to fix that?
same problem, other apk...

OP please dont double post the same topic, Thanks and Closed.
I posted this in the "General" forum and didn't get any response, so I thought I would post it here. I apologize if this is the wrong forum for this.I figured may Moscow Desire, Vorbeth, or someone else may have a suggestion. Thanks in advance for your assistance!
"I have my tab rooted and bootloader unlocked. I used OTA Rootkeeper to temporarily unroot. The OTA update downloaded and attempted to install but failed. I downloaded the update again and saved it to my extra SD card. I then used CWM recovery to attempt installation again. Failed again. I am thinking that maybe the unlocked bootloader or CWM is causing the failure. Anybody have any ideas or input? Thanks!"
delete the first line in updater-script and it should work
if not than it´s possible that your not on the right version or you have to remove all check line´s and install then
please upload and post the update here for other users which are not able to download it. thx
How do you save the update to the external SD? I only get the option to download, and the file seems quite hidden from me.
Where is the OTA update stored at- read this to find out

You can save the download by choosing the "Later" option when prompted to install. Then you can go to the root directory of the device to the \cache\fota_dn directory and the update will be there. From there you can copy it and save it elsewhere on your eternal-SD card of wherever. if you choose to "Install now" option, and the update fails, the OTA update is not left in the \cache directory.
I always choose to "Install later" so I can keep a copy of the OTA update. Hope that helps!

Thanks for the reply, but I think this is a little beyond my skillset level and I don't want to mess something up! I'm not sure how I cna upload the OTA update to this forum, but if you tell me, I will be glad to do it!
http://www14.zippyshare.com/v/40506917/file.html
That's the original OTA file. I'm not comfortable editing anything.
Thanks, bidniss for letting me know how to catch those OTA files.
EDIT:
Okay, I edited my updater-script (not the file above) and tried to install from CWM. Failed at "apply_patch_check("/system/app/LinkToFacebook.odex".)" with a big string of numerals and letters. I assume mine failed because I have deleted the Facebook link. Will try to restore it on my system and attempt update again.
Recovered my app backups and tried to install update again. This time it failed at "apply_patch_check("/system/lib/modules/bcmdhd.ko" ...). No clue what that is, but after a quick search I found it has to do with wifi? and is in the kernel..Which I'm running the modified version of....So...Dang.
Screw it..Figured while I was already tinkering I might as well just install CM10. It's pretty sweet, by the way.
i will download it and remove all the checks, than you can try again, so i did it some time ago

edit: hier is the updater-script
change to the one in your zip an it should run through!!! but MAKE A NANDROID BEFORE.
if your on the wrong version it MAY be you screw up your sys because it looks like the file checks didn´t match.
did you do any patch before the OTA Update?

No patches. I am on the OTA JB version Acer_AV051_A700_RV09RC08_PA_CUS1 Build number: Acer_AV051_A700_1.034.00_PA_CUS1
My tablet has an unlocked bootloader and is rooted. The update fails. I am turning off the root with OTA Rootkeeper. I get a message that says, "failed to verify whole-file signature"
"signature verification failed"
"assert failed: getprop("ro.product.name")=="a700_pa_cus1"
"Error in /cache/acer_ug/update.zip"
I am using CWM v6.0.1.5 to install the update.
Does this shed any light that may help?- Thanks!
"assert failed: getprop("ro.product.name")=="a700_pa_cus1"
this is first line in updater, if you remove, this error shoul not aplly again
if other check errors apear then you have to remove all of the checks, like i did in the updater-script, which i added in my post.
else try to disable verification check in CWM
and also look here and try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1810687

Thanks for the info! My update.zip is on my Windows 8 PC and I may have to move it to my Win 7 PC because winzip is not allowing me to extract the files so I can "copy & paste" the updater-script file you posted. If there is a simpler way to do it, please let me know and thanks again!
use 7zip or winrar, open the zip und C&P the file into it
or long way, extract all , do modify and then repack all files an folders INSIDE the extractet/modified folder, NOT the folder AND it´s content
your also able the open inside the winrar window the script and change it with Notepad++
EDIT::
aaaaah wait:
if your not able to open it, you have to decrypt it with acer decrypter first, then it´s an "real" zip

I've moved this back to general, that's where it belongs. Development is strictly for ROM's, mods and kernels only.

You are trying to install an US dlpkgfile, and you seem to be on 10.4.4.18 currently. But I still need more details. Rooted? Unlocked? Did you ever modify/delete any files on /system before the upgrade? Did any previous attempt to upgrade fail?

OK, then this is apparently the first update that tries to patch FacebookPoster.apk and .odex, so these files need to be there. Restore the original app from your backup (you did make a backup before deleting, didn't you?) and then the upgrade should work.
If you don't have a backup, you call still extract the app from a full firmware image if you have Linux on your PC (unzip, unzip, blobunpack, loop mount the ext4 filesystem from blob.APP, extract the required file), or you can ask someone else to extract it from their rooted stock tablet.

Instead of waiting around, do a factory reset then start over again, but keep updating until the end and don't install any user apps in between. Only install user apps once the upgrade is finished.
Flash Asus full .30 version, root, ota rootkeeper to save root, upgrade, restore root.
