I'm currently trying to unlock my bootloader, but encountering problems. It's a JP TF300T and I'm sick of never getting OTA from ASUS (or getting it four months down the line). I finally decided to unlock the bootloader and try a custom ROM. The issue is, it's coming up with the message 'An unknown error occurs, which may be a network connection issue, please wait and try again later', when I try to unlock the device. I have been trying again and again and again...to no avail. Can anyone tell me an easy way to change my region from JP to WW or US, without unlocking please? If not, is there any way to resolve the issue with the unlocking tool?
Kernel: [email protected]#1
Build Number: IML74K.JP_epad-9.4.3.30-20120604
I understand there may be an issue with the .30 build, but don't know how to sort it, any help would be appreciated.
Disclaimer: I have searched to forums and found an issue with the bootloader, but it doesn't entail the changing of region builds.
It would appear that the error was server-side, I am now rooted, unlocked, and on running US Jellybean.

I recently got a tf300t which came already with 10.4.2.17 JB firmware.
At the moment I'm not plannig to install custom ROMs basically because I understand that I should unlock the bootloader and lose the warranty doing so.
The device is notifying that an update (the .18 firmware, I guess) is available, but before upgrading I want to be sure that in the future I will able to unlock the bootloader and then install custom ROMs.
Can someone please reassure me about it?
I'm sorry if this sounds as a dumb question, but I'm pretty new to this tablet and in the past I lost the ability to gain root access for another device beacuse of an OTA update.

If you're already on 10.4.2.17, upgrading to 10.4.2.18 won't affect your ability to unlock. Some people (like myself) are unable to unlock for unknown reasons, but upgrading from .17 to .18 shouldn't make a difference(10.4.2.18 doesn't really change much). If you're able to unlock, you should be able to do it on either .17 or .18. If you're unable to unlock, you then wouldn't have been able to do it on either version.

Thank you for your answer.
This inability to unlock somewhat scares me.
Is this connected in someway to the production date of the device (which maybe could retrieved from the serial number)?

I'm not sure, I know I and several others have been unable to unlock. There are various theories as to why (ASUS unlock server problems, serial number not in their database, certain serial numbers don't work, etc...). Worst case scenario is that when you try to unlock, it gives you the error "Unknown error occurs, which may be a network connection issue. please wait and try again later" and nothing happens. Personally, I'm pretty sure my problem has to do with the fact that the serial number in settings is different from the one on the bottom of the tablet (the one on the sticker). Unfortunately for me, there is no way to change the internal serial number without being rooted, and no way to root on JB (for now) without being unlocked.

Go to:
http://www.asus.com/Tablet/Transformer_Pad/ASUS_Transformer_Pad_TF300T/#download
Under choose OS , select android, go to utilities, the second file should say "Unlock Device App: Unlock boot loader." download the file, copy it to the tablet and open it in file manager. If you have install from other sources enabled it should bring up an install dialog and install an app called unlock tool. Open this app, scroll and click through all of the terms of agreement, and click unlock, If its going to work, this is where the unlock will happen.

All..
I just got my TF300T back from RMA, and noticed that Asus re-locked the bootloader and updated the tablet to JB 4.2.1. I alswo updated the firmware to Version US_V10.6.1.15.3.
I downloaded the latest Unlock tool from Asus (Version V8_For Andorid 4.2) and installed the app. I run the app and agree to all the notices then I proceed to press the "unlock your device" symbol.. The app runs for a few seconds, but then I get the following:
" An Unknown error occurs, which may be a network connection issue. Please wait and try again later"
Has anyone else gotten received this erro when trying to unlock the bootloader? Does anyone have any suggestions or know of a way to get this app to work? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Have a look here, this is a known issue that seems to happen sometimes after rma

Hi, I`m italian and excuse me for my simple english. I am the owner of an Asus TF700T with Android 4.1.1.
I wanted to install a custom rom, I read in the forum that it was necessary to first unlock the bootloader with the original asus `app.
I tried to run the Unlock Device Tool v.7 with Android 4.1.1 JB., But I am always returned the message "An error occours unkwon, Which may be a network connection issue, please wait and try again later." I tried, and tried, and tried, but nothing.
Then I read on the website of Asus that the `app worked with ICS, so I downgraded to build 9.4.5.30, I re-installed the` app I tried again and again.
But the `app continues to give me the same error message. Obviously the wireless network and the wifi work and I also tried with different networks but nothing.
Possible that there is no other way to unlock the bootloader?
Thanks in advance for the help that you can give me. Greetings to all.

You probably would get more responses if you made your thread title a little more descriptive
The Unlock tool works fine on all JB roms (4.1 and 4.2) - if it works at all.....
Unfortunately you are not the only one who has problems unlocking and it seems to be related to missing or incorrect databases on Asus' servers.
Don't give up, try again a day or two later.
In the meantime you could try to sign up for Asus Device Tracker service. It's free and gives you an idea if your S/N is registered on Asus servers. If you also get an error message call Asus customer service and ask them to correct the database because you want to sign up for Device Tracker.
Do not tell them you want to unlock! Asus does not support unlocking and their reps will not help you to do it.
There is no alternative method. It's either the Unlock Tool or nothing... :crying:

If they at least were consistent sneaky bastards! But if you look into who could not unlock and why and who finally managed to and how - you'll loose the rest of your hair!
Just read about a guy with a Prime who started his ordeal July 2012 and was able to unlock April 2013!!

Thank you all for the quick responses, the effects reported by chew1992 thread describes my problem very well, although it is not very comforting, that was a possible solution.
Having registered on the Asus site also try to download the app after you have logged-in.
And as indicatomi from berndblb, I'll try to contact Asus to ask what is the correct database.
I will keep you informed.
Greetings to all.
I purchased LG G2 D800 (32gb) locked to AT&T network. I wanted to unlock it with a code and tried various webstites - 3 of them replied that they cannot offer any support, 2 emailed me back with an unlock code. Codes from those 2 different websites were the same, however it did not work - I now have the last attempt left to unlock it. I tried through one of the 'shops' as well, but they couldn't help either. Can you please advise if you have a reliable way of unlocking or obtaining a code for unlocking? Is there any other way to unlock this phone? Maybe at least a way of bringing the count of tries back to 1? I also tried ringing AT&T but they could not help, as I did not have an account with them - I'm stuck.
Thanks for any help or suggestions you may have,

Thanks a lot for the advice. My phone wasn't rooted (I checked with an app) so I think its runs original rom (and it's Android 4.4.2), Baseband Version M8974A-AAAANAZM-1.0.190082 Kernel Version 3.4.0 Build Number: KOT49I.D80020c Software Version D80020c
I have the last try (10 out of 10) to put a correct unlock code. Have you got any other suggestions? Do you know how to change the number of attempts of unlock back to 1? Thanks
unlock code???

How and where did you get an unlock code for the bootloader? I thought the ATT LG G2 32GB isn't capable of being unlocked.

I would honestly say flash a completely stock rom...go back to square 1 with it. find the AT&T stock image. flash it back thru the LG program. then try again with the unlock code. its possible the previous owner just flashed a stock ROM to the phone. does it have stock recovery on the phone or CWM or TWRP?

if you have'nt unlocked it yet try this ste i got it done for $1.9 the cheapest ever http://www.unlockcode247.com
Apologies for not writing back sooner. I only have 1 attempt left to put the code in, so I am reluctant to try another website, since 2 did not work.
I am worried I will lock the phone indifinitely. Does anybody know how to bring the count back to 1, so it was showing attempt 1 out of 10 for putting the sim lock code in? Thanks
Hello. I was trying to unlock my xt1032 with cm 13 but it says that the code is invalid.
Movistar gives me that code, and when I noticed that was "invalid" I went to the movistar's office. They told me that probably I was unable to unlock it be cause I was rooted.
The question is, if I flash some Argentina stock firmware, will be able to unlock it?
Of course I'm from Argentina.
If that way won't work, how can a solve that?
Also, what happen when the 10 tries end? I think I used maybe 3 or 4
Thank you. Sorry if I had some mistakes in my text.
I installed a stock ROM and was able to unlock it. Thank you.
