Out of box rooted?? - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So i just bought this today from bestbuy. I have a GS3 rooted anyway, I know what I'm doing for the most part. My question is, my tablet is rooted out of the box? I was installing my apps and it installed root explorer, rom manager and superSU. When i opened rom manager and R/E supersu asked for permision. I can also go in R/E and edit or delete apps as I can with my rooted S3. The only thing is clockwork is not installed, i go to install it and only gives me 3 options for samsung phones. My status evens says normal and it has no flash counts. I know they could be cleared, anyway has anyone else seen this?

Try writing a file to "/system". If you can't, you're not actually rooted. Installing apps that require root doesn't mean you're rooted either. If you need root and CWM, check the CF-Root thread in Original Development.

Download busybox installer by jrummy16 from google play.when u open it and it says not rooted.your not rooted.if it stays open, you are rooted ao far. Then look at the info on screen itll say weather busybox is installed or not.if its not, install it and reboot.then you can download the "ATRIX 2 bootstrapper" from the stickies thread in on "rooting" (i believe its here). Install that apk and youll be ready to install roms through cwm recovery.if its not rooted, you can check the "root" thread and download the "one-click exploit" to root your phone.

[Q] How to root after updating to 4.0.4 Official

I just did the update to Android 4.0.4 through Kies today. As I've determined I'm not a fan of Touchwhiz, I'd like to root my Skyrocket.
Does anyone know if the root process for 2.3.6 would also work for this version? If not, does anyone know where I could find how to root the device?
Search is your freind. LOL even thou it says for ics leak, it works on the factory stuff as well as GB 2.3.6

I rooted the stock ICS earlier today via this method, and can confirm that it works.
I used this method on UCLF5 and root explorer routinely has problems mounting system. Not sure why.
You need to make sure u have busybox installed. I know that works for me, for i used to have the same issues. It didnt matter if it was GB or ics. Iam sure others will disagree, but just telling how i fixed that problem on my phone.

I need a little help here, Noobie that I am.....I had rooted sr brought it back to stock and then upgraded it to ics 4.04 stock. Then rooted it again using the methods found in this thread. I got it to take after the third time and it show superuser in the apps section and I can open it. I downloaded pro copy of titanium pro and the free version but it tells me the phone is not rooted:crying: I and that I need to ensure I have busybox. I download that also and i still cannot get titanium to knowledge the root. Any suggestions would be most helpful. I would like to freeze some of the bloatware as I did when I had gingerbread 2.36 and had titanium running.
update: used the newest version of superuser and installed busybox installer and still no go. I downloaded root check and it says not rooted. guess when I get home tonight I will re-root again....

[Q] Is it safe updating a rootd device via Samsung Kies?

I have a rooted Samsung Galaxy S2 X from koodo and I was wondering if I can just straight up update my phone the way it is now through Samsung Kies when the JellyBean update arrives for my device in April? I have no custom roms NOR have I flashed anything on this device as far as I am concerned. The only thing I've done after rooting my phone is download root required apps on Google Play and APK files off the internet. I know for a fact that my root would disappear and I'm not concerned with that, since I don't want my phone to be rooted anymore anyways. So i figured I can hit two birds with one stone if I was able to update my phone and get rid of my root in the process. What's stopping me is that I have read that updating through kies while rooted can brick your phone. Or does that only happen if you have custom roms installed?
Don't you already have a thread about this?

FIRMWARE UPDATE PDA:MC2 / CSC:MC2 (XAR) 4/11/2013 What is this?

As stated above I just received an update to my 8013 which was already running 4.1.2. Does anyone know what this is? Once updating I lost root and have yet to find a way to re-root. The method i was trying previously fails each time. this way : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cv8440QhHsw
Anyone know what this update is/does and how to re root once updated? Thanks
My note downloaded this overnight and I installed it today. I suspect these may be more minor security tweeks. Lookout reported that 3 apps (screensaver and two others, not individually identified) were updated and were safe. I've not noticed any significant changes.
Were you able to obtain root? And if so how?
Sorry, I'm not rooted. Were you using the one-click method?
I am rooted. I used mobile odin pro to install firmware. I set it to inject root, mobile odin, su. Cannot see differences yet, but still rooted.

You just root the same way you did previously. It should work fine.
Is there anyway to update and keep root? Has anyone tried this update with mobile odin pro's "ever-root" feature? I would prefer not have to use the original method I used to root because it increases flash count and it's annoying to have to go through the process of removing the count.
Or could someone upload an odexed completely stock version?

http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2227512
as for your triangle count, thats easy. Just use TRIANGLE AWAY from the play store...
I had already read the first post but it didn't say anything about having tried to use mobile odin to update and keep root which is why I posted my question. Plus as I mentioned I would prefer not to have to go through the whole triangle away process. I always wind up having to flash a new firmware and do a complete restore in order to remove the 1 binary count even after using triangle away. That's a short explanation of the whole process I always have to go through and it takes a long time.
If it was quick, I wouldn't be asking how to update and keep root.

Tried CF ROOT again today... It worked! Now Rooted!

So you already flashed CWM? Then Download the ZIP file of SuperSU and Flash it with CWM?
Also i Recommend a XDA thread instead of youtube since XDA thread are more secure.
I've tried to flash but its not working.
