i have 2.2.2 on my phoenix

Go on the market or your browser and search for an application called 'z4root'. If you're running 2.2.2, it should work like a charm. If it doesn't, also try GingerBreak. These are both great one-click applicatoins that are almost fool-proof rooting tools. GingerBreak (not sure about z4root) also includes a feature to unroot your device as well. Best of luck.

Make sure you have USB debugging checked under apps/development, that's one cause for superoneclick freezing if I remember right.

Install the pre-rooted rom listed in the dev section. Really is no use in rooting when Samsung lets use flash the phone with custom roms via odin.
Bhundven's One-Clicks in the Dev section are excellent. All are based on KJ6 and two are already rooted.

Most of the ROMs in the dev section are rooted. What ROM are you currently running?
EDIT: It says above you are on GB 2.3.6. If you are - SuperOneClick V2.3.3 will work. Go to this thread, read the OP - all of it - hell watch the video if you need to, then go here and download the current version. And lastly be patient while it is running.
You can also read this thread for EASY ways to flash kernels once rooted and get on custom ROMs.
I encourage you to READ THE WIKI BEFORE DOING ANYTHING TO YOUR PHONE!

Yes that's correct.
Ok. So I don't have to down grade it to root it later? I read some of the tread that you have to be on a certain ice update not sure its true or not

What version of HC are you on? You don't need to upgrade to ICS and then downgrade back to HC to root. You can root HC and use OTA Rootkeeper to carry Root all the way through ti latest version of ICS.
3.2.1 . Build number 8.6.5.2.1 20111216
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
That looks like a slider model?
Since you are on the last HC incremental build, you should be able to use ViperMod. It is in the Development section. Download that to your PC and run it according to the OP. IIRC, you have to use Option 1 for the TF-Honeycomb build. Once you have root, then go to the market and get OTA Rootkeeper. Install that and make sure it saves Root. Then install a Root app like Titanium and make sure it works. Then use OTA Rkpr to Temp Unroot and take the OTAs. Then finally once you are up-to-date with the latest ICS build (.27 is the last number of it), go back into OTA Rkpr and restore root.
One thing that I have found it that the latest version of OTA Rootkeeper will not save a backup of SU in /system/xbin (this caused me a problem with an app yesterday). What you want to do is get a file explorer like Root Explorer and copy the su from /system/bin and paste it in /system/xbin and you should be good to go.
And one final thing, if you have a custom recovery like Rogue or TWRP, the OTA will not succeed, nor will it if you delete any apps from /system/app. For thatI used Titanium Backup Pro and just Forze the bloat. When a new build comes out, I just defrost and take it, the re-freeze.
What is the slider model? Sorry for noob question

That is why I asked you what build you are on. Razerclaw (.13) only works on earlier builds of HC, whereas ViperMod works on the later versions (.19+).
Could always try Razerclaw. At worst it will let you install it and then once you run it, it should throw an error. I used ViperMod when I got mine b/c I stupidly updated before I knew about Razerclaw (this was before ICS came out). ViperMod is really eay. Just install it on your PC, install the drivers and run it. Takes less than 5 mins to do.
I googled that build number you provided and it came up as a slider version, so that is why I asked.
Edit: OK I just looked around a bit more and your build number isn't 8.6.5.2.1 but rather 8.6.5.21. So you are on build .21. Then you need to use ViperMod and use the directions I post in the other post and this one and you shoudl be good to go.
I had the prime before but sold it do to wifi issued. I rooted the prime before using viper. Is it the same process
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
Yes. Only for this one it is Option 1.
If you somehow lose Root when you get to the first ICS build (.11 I think it was), you can still use ViperMod but you'll have to use Option 3 then.
Good luck and let us know.

Perfect is a hard statement to make. Any of the ICS flavors are pretty stable there are bugs but even stock roms have bugs. I think barebones by antonx is a good one and VB by FB is too.
Is it add simple as installing stock GB was using heimdall? I've read good things about VB would you possibly post a link? Most I click on are dead/inoperable...

GOogle them, superoneclick is a .zip file you must unzip it and open the application, unlock root is an .exe just execute it. They both are one click root programs. Very simple.
And China phone companies don't have many root prevention security (they don't care) so either one of those should work

In order for the computer to recognize the device, it needs drivers. They used to come on a disk (way old school) but now they are usually online. Chinese tablets drivers are harder to find, but there has to be one out there. Try googling "<model> drivers"

That's the stock system recovery. Just used for wiping the phone and applying updates (if they ever release any lol). After rooting, its usually changed to a custom recovery for phones that have enough development, which allows way more options. But that's another matter.
If you REALLY cannot find the drivers (I couldn't either, could barely even find the model.) then your only chances are to root with gingerbreak or z4root, but both were meant for Android 2.3 and below. They're applications, so couldn't hurt to try them, but by now there is a very low chance.
SoC and UR both work amazingly well, maybe you could try contacting not the sellers for the drivers but the manufacturer (chinavision?)

Super one click doesn't put cwm recovery on the phone if you want rooted stock kwes has one pre made flash through cwm easy as pie guys. I dont understand why you would want your phone rooted with no recovery installed. Just makes it harder to fix if you mess up
