Thanks. I wouldn't have caught that.
Primes are starting to update (see: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1907804), it would seem the TF201 is once again the Beta tester for the infinity.
...I'll accept the delay I guess...as long as they resolve issues. :fingers-crossed:

Consider this - JB on the TF700 will not be bug free. While we wait, we'll likely see the rest of the internet freaking out about various apps not working optimally. Then we can judge whether we should update, or wait for the subsequent JB patch.

Heh - I also own a Motorola Droid BIONIC, and the Motorola Droid RAZR owners were our beta testers - which is (one of) the primary reason(s) we still don't have ICS on our phones over 1 year after release date.
I'll just sit back and wait and see. Though, I'm such a chronic beta tester as soon as I see it on my Infinity I'm probably gonna pull the trigger lol

Many of those issues stem from rooted and unlocked bootloaders with modified build.props and deleted bloatware. Also from members that carelessly and frantically try to restore their tablets to stock and end up soft brick/brick their devices. A small report of updates, bricking their Primes. For the most part JB was a success, that includes my tf201. Its not without its bugs but overall much improved from ICS. I am excited for when JB hits our tf700!
Edit:I won't be surprised to see similar issues popping up for when Jelly Bean lands at our tf700 shores.

Yeah I only got my Infinity a couple of weeks ago and since I figured JB was due to arrive soon, I would wait to for the JB roms to get stable before messing with the tablet (also need to make sure my Infinity is a good one).
If JB shows up as promised next week then it will probably be a month or two and I'll see what roms are there that are best for me and I'll root and flash then. A stable experience is more important to me than being first on a rom.

Has anyone tried to port the 3.1 version from the Xoom to the TF?
The hardware is almost the same and we have the kernel sources from Asus, so there should be no problems, or?
I think that's a good idea but I don't see the point as we will get 3.1 from Asus soon enough. I'm happy to wait a few weeks with what we have just now.

Agreed. Might as well spent the time and effort on optimizing kernel & stock ROM.
Thread moved to General.
bad idea to port it.
1) you'll lose microsd support most likely
2) you'll lose support for the keyboard dock.
and i'm sure some other things would get screwed up as well.
Asus customized honeycomb to enable microsd, the keyboard dock, and it's USB/SD ports. If you install the Xoom version of honeycomb, you'll lose all those.
it's only a couple more weeks until we get 3.1. This isn't samsung guys, just wait a little bit longer.

When is 3G 4G Xoom going to get Ice cream?
i been asking that forever. I don't know what the deal is with Verizon not pushing out updates. I just don't get it. From what I read on Droid life is its ready to go but up to big red to push it out.
Just like the gnexus still stuck on 4.02 first carrier to have the phone last one to push out the ota WoW
Yeah it's very annoying. The problem is Verizon's testing procedures (or so I've been told) are VERY strict. Add to the fact that the Xoom isn't a priority device for VZW anymore, and yeah...we continue to wait. The WiFi-only Xoom has had ICS since December, and (again, so I've heard), Google had the ICS ROM for the 3G/4G Xoom ready not long after that. To add further insult to injury, Google and VZW pushed out an update to the 4G Xoom in February that was just a Honeycomb update (3.2.6) to fix data connectivity coming out of airplane mode. Annoying.
With the Galaxy Nexus, at least two 4.0.4 builds have been pushed to devices as part of a soak test (IMM30B and IMM76K), but neither made the cut apparently. But since they went out over the air, we have the files and can run those if we want to. With the Xoom, there hasn't even been so much as a soak test, that we're aware of anyway.
I wish I knew as well.
I've tried all of the custom ROMs and have had problems with each one. I've gone back to the Honeycomb stock ROM in each instance. As snappy & nice as the ICS is with the custom ROMs, the stock Honeycomb has been the most stable ROM ever, imho. I'm very excited about ICS coming out, but only if it's as rock solid as Honeycomb is. I'll wait a couple of more months so that VzW can get it right the first time.
Definitely. That Honeycomb 3.2.6 stock ROM is solid as a brick ****house. That's why I love it.
Don't know about you but I have had ICS on my Xoom for a while. Thanks Team EOS. And it is much better than anything Verizon would put out.

The stock ROM on the Verizon Xoom is still created and updated by Google. It just needs VZW approval before it gets released. TeamEOS isn't stable enough for my liking. Tried playing SimCity lately?

What's wrong with SimCity? (I don't game, so I'm really asking.)
Is the real issue perhaps merely that the game's not ICS-tablet-aware?

It freezes constantly. It'll run fine, then all of a sudden just hang forever, giving you the wait/force close dialog box. I don't think it's an ICS or app issue since people running stock ICS on the WiFi Xoom say it works fine.

Interesting. I haven't seen any indications of that in the main EOS threads.
Did you see anyone else collaborating this issue? Were you overclocked at all? Also, at one point we switched to overclocking the GPU by default, and I wonder if that's the issue (after all, my kernel improvements wouldn't have made any difference to a game, and we're nearly stock in anything else that matters).
I wasn't overclocked. OC always makes me nervous! Could be with the GPU...not sure. What I do know is that the issue was still there as of the stable 2.0.0 release.

Uh, didja maybe check here on XDA?
My answer is "never." VZW will never release ICS for this thing. It was seriously doomed from the start.
That said, EOS has created an excellent stingray rom. Again, STINGRAY. And again, EXCELLENT rom. I'm not playing SimCity, but the Sims works very well and since the app was updated, it works even better. It was freezing on restart but now it doesn't do it anymore, which is something to say about how solid EOS' rom is--a problem with the app and not the rom.

Oh dear, not this again. Last year it was "We'll never get LTE" and/or "We'll never have writable SD-Card". It's obvious the tech is there, most likely it's due to either compliance issues (and with VZ that probably means they're trying to lock something down or take something away in the ROM they're intending to release ... the bastards) or they're waiting 'till some as-yet-unannounced LTE tablet(?) device comes out first. Apparently there's a ROM in testing at VZ, if the leaked screenshot has any credibility.

Yes I got it for the Galaxy Nexus today also. I guess it will start to push after the dust has settled for the phone and the Nexus 7 .
Will probably be a month, most likely two til an official OTA for the wifi xoom. Only the source code is out right now. Motorola still need to add their drivers and other proprietary things first before a true OTA can happen. Hence why cameras and such don't work on the ROMs out now. Incompatible driver. Took Motorola about two months after ICS source code dropped to release the full OTA. I think the same time window for this too. They need to test it first with a soak test.

My camera works fine? What rom are we talking about?
I saw in a JB thread someone saying their camera or the special effects weren't working and a few others agreed. Solarnz or another Dev said that's cause they won't have the needed parts for that until the real Motorola release.
I'm holding off on flashing JB myself for a good week. I jumped on ICS and 3.2 immediately when solarnz and EOS dropped em, like the day they dropped. And I had little issues. But I will wait a week or two with JB...mainly cause it is the apps out there that need to be updated to work with it...not really the ROM.

Some of my games also improved in terms of the occasional stutter that I had before when I was on ICS. As of now it is still running on a kernel based on tiamat ICS.

He was showing the soak timetable for 4.0.4 (which was ICS,) its going to be a few days still.
So I ended up returning my prime after 8 months, and ordered a tf700. It's hard to read up so much in the prime forums and now I'm a newb to these neck of the woods. I don't see much developement going on for the tf700 in the forum, maybe cuz it's still new?
I have read its a pretty solid upgrade from the prime considering the I/O issues I've read about. Having said that, what does it come shipped with? Honecomb? I know its rootable, and unlockable. Theres a working clockwork right?
Any better than stock roms to flash at the moment? Or just wait it out until JB? Thanks fellows...time to read some more
It is completely rootable and unlockable. I believe theres CWM and TWRP. Comes with ICS. Might need to do an update. My personal opinion is to wait for JB.
This probably should be in Q&A also.
Sent from my Transformer Infinity.
The Infinity is at its infancy. So custom roms are still in its early stages and bugs will be evident but this tablet is definitely an upgrade to the Prime which I sold for the Infinity. When I had my Prime I could only get two bars from my bedroom while my router was in the living area. Now I have full freakin bars! GPS is just as accurate and locks on to as many as the Extension kit. It has some performances issues but nothing Jelly Bean can remedy. Battery is ok doesn't last as long compared to Prime, but I'm sure an update or two will fix that. Also it will heat up on you because of that higher res screen. Mine got as high as 108.9° when playing games.
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using XDA Premium App
I updated from the Prime and must say that the Infinity is a huge upgrade. It may not seem like much but the software is faster and the build quality has improved. Stuff like the improved buttons and the change of location of the headphone jack doesn't seem like much, but is well thought out, especially when it is in the dock. And the WiFi performance is 10 times better than the Prime, which is a huge upgrade. I am very pleased with this device and should have been what the Prime was.

2.4 CleanROM here, no Clemsyn yet (trying 2.4 out for bit first to get some feel for the improvements in fluidity -- the Master himself asked for this ) -- great tablet. Stock is less than impressive, but with some TLC, the 700 is a fiery monster.
I'm very happy with this tablet. With its customized doc it is better than all the other Android tablets out there IMHO.

Well from the first day I said it is the best device I bought since a long time and for me as business user it's replacing my laptop 90% of the time easily.
The dock and screen are excellent and it is the best choice I made in comparison to other tablets.
No Icrap because it is MY tablet and compared with other tablets it is without competition.
What you want more: Good build quality, very fast and fluid and smooth, excellent dock and screen, very good battery life when on travel (min 14 hrs).
Never thought it was that good :good::good:
It could be better. I'm rooted and debloated but I'm not going to ROM it. I don't want to go down that same path as I did with my phone - too many problems, sleepless nights, headaches, and compromises. I'm done being a nerd.

Hey! Hey!
Out of the box I was happy, I received a good build quality...no squeaky screen, the tab and dock where flawless. (lucky me ).
I was later made much happier by unlocking, rooting, custom recovery and custom ROM......My flavour of choice was CleanROM. Still on 2.3 with Clemsysn's OC and bit depth mods. Also using the Data2SD (enhanced) mod. All of this took a good tablet experience and made it a LOT better.
Now if we could get Samsung's Quality Control to teach Asus how to build a device, and get Asus to teach Samsung how to develop for frequent updates. Match made in heaven. (I hope BOTH Sammysong and Assus are reading this).
CHEERS!
