[Q] [Android]: ROM Development

I have been looking around, trying to get a general idea on how to get started in the wonderful world of Android ROM development.
It seems that information is spread out amongst different sources, and that there isn't really anywhere that has all of this information together (to my knowledge at least).
I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction, and or assist me in any way. It would be much appreciated! ^.^
I have been following stuff here on XDA for a while, and just finally decided to make an account. So, I apologize if this is posted under the wrong section, and/or this question has been asked a million times before. I know how annoying that can be. I searched around before I made this post, so I don't believe I am re asking a common question, unless of course I missed something.
Thank you all!
Here are couple of sources
I think these might help get you started.

Anyway, I'm glad you've found that, but notice that on future you'll have to make some research to look what you've benn looking for, about certain things at least... you can found tweaks and "how to" on devs general section, but you can also find some in device's forums... there's no one section in wich you'll find all you need while working on a ROM

[GT-P6210][Guide][WIP] How to root / install custom firmware / destroy your GT+wifi

So, I suppose you -- like me -- opened this thread to find out how to take your brand new (or new to you) GT+wifi and take the power back from Samsung by rooting and installing custom firmware! Well... Here's the deal: this forum is a complete mess. The small number of guides are either difficult to follow or incompatible with one another. Links for downloads are mostly dead and everything is completely out of date. If you're like me this drives you crazy...
The best forums in XDA have become so because of a few people. Most importantly, of course, are the developers; without them this place wouldn't have a reason to exist. But almost as important as the developers are a small number of users who take up the task of helping other users by writing guides and instruction manuals, and answering questions. This is what the GT+ forum lacks.
So here's what I'm proposing to do. I'd like to create a wiki post that I'll update with guides and working links. I'll keep it up-to-date so that a newbie can open the thread, look at the TOP of the first post, and get their tablet working within a few hours. It will make the entire experience more satisfying both both users and developers. But I can't do it without your help: I don't know jack about this tab (just got it last week). So post your info below and I'll update soon.
Good one buddy. But I don't agree with you on the mess part. There is no much cfw because samsung does not want to release some code. So we have "only" optimized and cleaner versions of stock rom, and a heroically port of cm9 but without wifi.
And if you try to put a lot of links and information on first post, good luck. Noobs dont like to read, you will get 95% of posts of people asking how to root or other thing that someone answered 1 post above.
The idea of make mirrors of links is very welcome.

I suggest that someone instead creates an index with all the roms most important info, links etc. like this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=809328
I'd be able to do it, but a little help would be appreciated

Still a place for yet another general android guide?

OK, I'm not a noob and yes I'm not an elite or dev either. I'm more or less of an advance users. I'm posting here to get a feel or see what kind of response I would get if I'm going to write a guide. Yes I know there there are plenty of guides already but the way I see it most of the guides fall into either too specific to a device or particular subject or more or less a dictionary/wiki style. I'm more interest of writing general concept of android, more like a pre-req for rooting to a newbie but not tie to any specific device. For example, it will include the concept of partition/recovery/boot loader and how they are related. Maybe I'll approach it as in comparison to how PC works.
Good idea/bad idea?
Any thread I should refer to?
Outdated thread to build upon?
(for newbie) what do you think is the most important(or first) thing you want to learn? Or topic that would be definitively useful?
(for mod) where to post/submit?

Hello, and welcome to XDA!
You would have the best of luck asking for help in this thread:
> Android Development and Hacking > Android General > 5300mAh 5.5" Bluboo X550 - Review, ROMs, Info, FAQs
Please note, you will have to register for an XDA account to post there. Also, when posting, please be specific as to what the problem is, any modifications that may have got you to where you are (rooting, et cetera), as well as things tried to alleviate the situation.
Hope this helps, and good luck!

Maybe. It could be a hardware issue, but me not knowing what the problem is (it was even mentioned that you "don't know why" the phone isn't working), software is more likely.
Which is why it is beneficial to post your problem in the thread mentioned above. I don't know anything about your device, except what I skimmed through on GSMArena. The people in that thread own that device, and have the best-hand user experience as a result. I don't have electrical schematics of every Android known to man filed away (I'm lucky if I have even one). Other than approaching the company, your fellow users are the best chance at getting that information, if it is indeed a hardware issue (and replacement parts are available).
Please be detailed there. Simply saying the phone "doesn't work" isn't constructive, and helps no one, as it suggests a plethora of possibilities.
Not to be cruel, I wasn't expecting a three word reply which effectively condenses the original post. Asking-for/needing/demanding effortless information/solutions, while someone else does the heavy lifting, is not what XDA Assist is all about. It's about pointing people in the right (I like to say best) direction with the information given. I feel I have done that. With an account now, time to get your feet wet.
Hope this helps.

Best way to update my Galaxy Tab 7.7???

I've been overjoyed with my Galaxy Tab 7.7 ever since I've had it but since there aren't going to be any further Android updates after 4.0.4 I've started to notice the odd app isn't going to work so I'm assuming that I'm going to need to look at rooting in order to get the latest apps to work??
I've only dabbled with rooting a couple of times with my very old HTC Desire due to it's ridiculously small internal memory and so I really don't know where to start with the 7.7!
Can someone give me some pointers on which ROM to look at and ideally a half-wit's guide to show me how to do it?
You could start by reading the information already available.
Given your tablet is untouched all of the old information is accurate for you. The forum has sticky posts top make finding info easy, yet you managed to miss them.
We're not here to do your research for you.
Start with the first post here and then read the information provided. Some of the images are missing in some of the posts now but the instructions are still there.

Thanks for the condescending reply.
I had looked at a few of the dozen or so sticky's but wasn't quite sure where to start or what applied to my particular situation, hence the post asking for some pointers.
It would appear I was mistaken that this was a forum (ie. people posting questions, information and general musings) so I honestly didn't think I'd offend anyone by asking for a shortcut! (my most sincere apologies as it appears that I've really touched a nerve!)
I'll find what I need myself, thanks for the gentle shove!
Try this custom L rom buddy. It seems to be fairly stable for me.

Update on future
I wonder if there will be update in to 6.0
It is really not that hard to peek in Developers forum for our device - [ROM][MMB29T][GalaxyTab7.7|Plus][22Jan2016 CM-13.0]Android Marshmallow ROMs. You are welcome.
