Screen corruption issues when applying pressure on bezel? - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone else noticed any screen corruption/artifacts occasionally when grabbing/applying pressure on the bezel? It's cyan in color which is kind of amusing because I'm running CM10 but it's kind of annoying to see this kind of problem considering I've had the tablet for about a month. The surest way to reproduce it is to hold opposite corners and kind of gently twist the tablet. I realize that's not exactly common behavior but it does happen occasionally when I'm just holding it. An unfortunate flaw on an otherwise awesome tablet IMO.

Not at all.

Now, after one month of pretty heavy everyday use and some trips (and some drops without producing scratches or chippings) with the Note sometimes some slight sounds (not exactly creaking, more like a faint squeezing sound) occur when I press the upper left corner above the loudspeaker and when I strongly press the silver frame horizontally left and right on the right side.
This might be due to the fact that on the go I hold the tablet sometimes only on the right upper corner.
But no changes on the screen occur even when I forcely try to bend the Note, nor any funny inputs by the digitizer.
Feels rock solid so far .......................

[Q] Anybody else having these problems?

So, I was lucky enough to get my transformer today. Though I do love it, is anyone else having these problems?
-Light bleed
-Creaking/flex on the right side of the tablet, but not on the left
-Some dead pixels(not very noticeable, but I was able to catch around 3-4)

I have minor light bleeding but no creaking or flex.. How are you checking for dead pixel?
There are a few other threads about the flexing and the light bleed. I haven't experienced any dead pixels, but there is a specific paragraph on it in the warranty i.e how many and how close together in order to qualify for a warranty repair.
My Transformer is flexing at the top rim near the camera. I don't really think its a huge problem though. Just feels weird if you grip there.

Light bleed:yes, but not noticeable most time, and this issue seems to be common.
Creaking:sometimes, especially when holding TF by one hand, acceptable though.
No dead pixels,i've tested that using some pure color pictures.
On the 3rd day,i found a dust under the lens cover of rear camera...

my main concern is that on day one i had no bleed nor creaking. but 6 days later now i have both. what happens a month from now? the paint flakes?
i don't plan on keeping it after kal-el tablets come out, but dammit i'd like for it to last that long.
i just picked up the pre-order from best buy that i was going to cancel b/c i wanted to see if it had less issues. the new one actually has more bleed than my current but no creaking. i'm pretty sure it'll start creaking if i put more handling on it.
Makes me wanna believe they glued the rim on thats why its creaking when the glue fails to stick ;o
light bleed.
No, the pixels and light bleed arnt anything super major, but I dont know if I am ocd, but the the creaking seems to be enough to bother me. The ride side of the tablet is perfectly fine and very sturdy feeling, but I feel like the left is just not the same. Would this be okay to be sent in for warranty or exchanged? Should I just return it and wait?
Man... lots and lots of issues. I know the majority of people without issues, don't report. But the number of new cases keep expanding every day that goes by. I'm still waiting for my TF101, but I'm more and more skeptical.

it has to be. it would be terrible if it's screws getting loose already. I can actually squeeze the front and back together on my left corner. the back is no longer flush with the bezel like the right side is. the right is only giving slight squeaks. hoping it doesn't get worse.
I hate to say this but this is typed out on my iPad. I really hate posting in this forum on my android tablets bc of the lag.

The issues you are describing are serious build quality problems, the unit is defective and should be replaced.

Yet another screen bleed thread (possible fix)

Guys there was a thread posted not too long ago about fixing screen bleed by loosening the screws in the back but everyone said it was pointless to do that. I actually think that the person was onto something. I have very minimal screen bleed on the two top corners and one thing I noticed is that when I grab the phone and sort of twist the top using mild pressure the screen bleed goes away based on what direction I'm twisting the top of the phone from.
Whoever has screen bleed should definitely try doing what I said and see if you notice what I did. Whichever corner you pull back on, the screen bleed from that corner goes away. I will go out tomorrow and buy a screwdriver for the screws in the back and try loosening it and see how that goes because if it goes well than that would mean I have a flawless device because minor screen bleed is all I seem to be having as far as issues go.
Can a few people try taking pressure away from the corners that are affected by screen bleed by twisting the phone and report back with your results. Thank you.
I think this will loosen the actual LCD and cause more screen bleed. LCD's and backlights are housed together in usually flimsy metal sheaths. So bending and applying hard pressure will loosen or weaken the metal clips that pressure the two together.
I think the beveled glass is what ultimately lead to the bleeding. I'd imagine its harder to install than just a flat panel and they just didn't care. They had the phone designed and after they built it, they knew about the bleeding and said......**** it.

Okay well all I'm saying is for those who have minor screen bleed to try and turn the top and see if it goes away while being held at a certain pressure because mine goes away when theres pressure being put on the opposite side thus easing pressure off of said side. It works for me.
If I loosen the screws and it goes away that'll be awesome and to be honest I think the reason MY phone has screen bleed is because the screws are over tightened from the factory. That seems like a logical assumption based on what I noticed.
This does absolutely nothing.
I just went into a dark room and loosened and tightened the screws on the back with the screenbleed test app running. It doesn't change a thing on the LCD.

[Q] Question about bezel trim near power button. Possible Crack?

Without going into a long story I just bought another 300 yesterday after returning the previous one. Upon opening and inspecting it I noticed what looks like a crack along the bezel trim in the upper left corner (in landscape) Between the power and volume buttons. Its right along the bend from the side the to the top. Ive had other 300's and never saw this on any of the others. But Im not 100% sure its a crack. It might just be a joint spot that wasnt aligned right and therefore the paint doesnt cover it. Using my thumbnail I pried slightly to see if the crack opened but it doesnt. Its still secure. So can anyone else verify that they can tell that this is a joint spot?
I also noticed a few things underneath the screen, and normally this would drive me crazy, but after all these returns and exchanges Ive gotten to the point where Im accepting flaws that just shouldnt be there. Its charging now from being totally dead so Ive only gotten a glance at the powered on screen to look for light bleed, and there is one pretty noticeable spot, but it looks like it might be a keeper as far as that goes. As long as I cant see the few particles under the screen when its powered on it wont bother me too much. But if that spot is indeed a crack its definitely going back. Thanks guys
Definitely a joint spot. Holding the tablet in landscape, the bottom two corners also have similar, though less defined, "cracks", but the top right corner does not. Is it the same with yours?

No just the power button corner for me. Pic attached.
After closer inspection I can see that all 4 corners are like that. But the one in the pic is worse. I think they just joined the pieces unevenly, and that caused the line to show up. Im just glad its not a crack.
Well, I wasn't actually referring to them as cracks (hence quotes). I could barely see the seam by the power button, and the other two seams are even less noticeable.
Are you sure you have seams in all 4 corners? Like I said, I only have seams in 3 corners (I've checked the 4th corner many times).

Yea there there in all 4. But only on the edge visible from the front. Very hard to see but there. I cant believe how soft the plastic is. I can see small dents where I pushed down with my fingernail trying to see if the "crack" would move. Wont be doing that anymore.

[Q] Erratic touch screen behavior when docked

My TF700 has recently developed erratic touch and screen behavior when docked.
Symptoms: Jumping screen - the image at times bounces around slightly
Phantom touches happen when touching the sceen OR the BACK of the tablet, and less frequently, when not touching the screen, but when holding the tablet where the screen angle may be moving slightly back and forth.
Sometimes, as well, the tablet does not respond to the keyboard. Changing the angle will sometimes remedy that.
It appears that this only happens when docked and may have to do with movement of the angle of the tablet in the dock. The problem seems to go away if I move the tablet/dock angle more vertical AND support it in the back to keep it from moving back and forth.
My unit is too old to be in warranty. At one point one of the plastic clips on the connector broke and I used epoxy to fix it. I also noticed that at one point, pushing the tablet back to too oblique an angle would actually cause the case of the dock to separate slightly.
It might be possible that some of the "phantom" touches that have been reported when a tablet is sitting untouched are due to vibrations in the room (walking etc) causing the tablet to move the docking angle sufficiently, resulting in the issues here.
Any ideas on how to steady the dock/tablet connection?
sounds more like your touch screen is failing, your fault desciption sounds just like mine did before I changed the touch screen and the issue has now gone away

Update- Found a "fix" for now
EDIT: I ended up using self-stick velcro, just the fuzzy side. I put a 2 inch strip behind each hinge. The fit is quite tight, but that is what I was aiming for. Tablet is behaving OK.
I tried using my son's keyboard dock and the problem did no occur. It had considerably less play in it as well. I have temporarily concocted a fix -- I put a strip of material (a thin velcro tie wrap, because it was handy) along the inside back of the dock hinge before inserting the tablet. This tightened the connection sufficiently to keep the strange behavior from happening. Gotta come up with something a little more permanent, though. I'm thinking of trying label tape (like TZe Label Tape) until the thickness is right.

[Q] Tapping on upper middle of screen makes rattle vibrate sound like something loose

Do any of you have this issue?
When you tap on the middle upper of the tablet a little bit hard it causes a vibrate clicky loose sound like the components behind are loose?
I only noticed it today and im sure it wasn't like this before or if it was not so prominent.
Im out of my retailers return window so if anything needs to be fixed I'll have to go to samsung.
The device functions ok but im just a little concerned the screenis coming loose or thr digitizer..thevibration clicky sound is quite annoying and i can't remember if it used to be there i think it might as directly behind where it rattles is the camera and above the battery and speakers. I just hear and feel a vibrating rattling sound which annoys me and feels like the build is poor. Can you guys try tapping the middle upper of your tablet quite hard or moderqtely and see if you have same issue?
What do you think has happend screen coming loose?
I think the resistive and conductive layers of the screen have come loose from the hard tapping.
If i hold down the middle of the screen and release it makes a 'sticky' sound. What is likely to happen if this continues?
From reading it says the resistive and conductive layers come in constant contact meaning it. Ould misinterpret commands.
Is it possible the screen is just loosened from the digitizer or is it more likely the 2 layers of resisitive and conductive layer are loose?
Does anyone know what this is?
It is so annoying in certain parts of the screen it seems to be looose hence the tapping. Is the glue loose or the screen coming apart?
If i lie it flat on a table there is less rattling when i type but when i put it in my case to hold it up the clicky rattling sound is more im just worried it's going to collapse at some point. Can anyone fathom what might be causing this?
It feels like the creen has come loose slightly in certain parts of the screen as if i tap on the opposite side across the screen it seems to c9rrect this issue for a few secs which leads me to think the screen is coming loose
Ive just realised now it's the back cover which is loose or the insides.
It seems by me pressing down on the front screen too much and the back of the tablet not completely heald down on a flat hard surface t has somehow caused the back cover to come loose of the parts inside have come loose by being forced back slightly.
Does anyone guess what is hppening?
When i flip over the tablet and press the back and tap the back cover on the right side it sounds loose and if i press on it there is some give like there is some space.
So ive identified what is thr cause of this and it's that my case which has rubber corners which hold it against the back of the backbpard leaves a gap between tge tablet and the backboard of the case cover. When i tap the screen too hard it causes a flex ehich unfortunately has caused the tablettobend and push the motherboard and insides onto the back cover which hss now flexed and stretched i presume? Or it has xaused the components to dislodge and misplace, can the back cover actually stretch this much?ithought it wad hard pladtic that retains its shape
I heard the tab s creaks also but mine is the back cover has stretched out fr8m within not holding the components snuggly if that makes sense. What is the fix for this?
