[Q] Verizon SIII problems - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

I really need some help. Bought this Verizon S 3 on ebay. Perfect condition and no problems getting it on Straight Talk. However there is NO SVOICE app on the screen or in APPS. Also I'm missing several other options in setup i.e. update, motion and probably more. Current system is Android 4.1.1. Baseband vers. I535VRLG1 Kernel Ver: 3.0.42-cyanogenmod-g70b21fd [email protected]#1 Fri Sep 7 .
I don't know if the above helps but I'm happy to forward any information that may help. I don't need anything different than stock.
Thanks in advance.

Someone installed a custom ROM on it, looks like it's Cyanogenmod or something based off Cyanogenmod. Since it is not Touchwiz-based, it won't have the Samsung apps like SVoice that depend on the Touchwiz framework. If you want to get those apps, you can either Odin back to stock or install one of the custom Touchwiz ROMs.

Samsung Galaxy S2 (Sprint)

Hey, i'm new to this forum so bare with me if i break any rules. Well yersterday i was lucky and happy to get ICS upgrage or update from sprint, for my Samsung Galaxy S2 sph-d710 (Sprint) Maybe cz am new to all of this but my software version Android says (4.0.4) Baseband Version (S710.10.S.FF18) as seen on the attached picture. Now here is the problem, My phone's software doesn't look like other ics, now i don't know that maybe this is how the Sprint version looks or, it just doesn't have all that ics theme or whatever it still looks like gingerbread only running ics but without most of the ics features. (Sorry i don't know much about this & English is my 4th language) so i've attached some pictures of how my phone looks, hope i'll get the answer to this.
Thank You in Advance,
Tizzo009
Nope, that's ICS. It's just Touchwiz running on top. If you want stock ICS, I suggest flashing CyanogenMod 9. For now just install Nova Launcher.

Hi,
Yes there is a CM 9/10 for the phone. I have actually installed CM9 on my phone. I wouldn't advise using CM10 yet because some bugs are still being worked out but i'm not discouraging you from trying =). To install it here are the instructions:
1. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1730954
That website has everything you need. Also if anything goes wrong there is a method to restore the original firmware. If you need any more help reply and i'll help out =)
Best of Luck!
hahahaha to lazy to search
argh. here is the method ur about to request/Q.1 answer : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21953587&postcount=1
Q.1 follow the link that i gave it to you and it will give you not just root but a kernel and BML roms installation guide
Q.2 installing CWM to latest? ahm idunno about it? "I" its possible but twrp is possible ..
Q.3 we dont have stable cyanoge. but barebone i (think that is the name) a gingerbread BML? roms that, that is stable..
And if you're worried about it since it's not your phone, you can at least get to official GB through Kies without voiding the warranty... if you're doing stuff from here you can be sure that the warranty is shot. The Kies one you get straight from T-Mo or Samsung, so if it hoses (and the phone is still under replacement protection) they should cover it. Here... it's more complicated.
the TRUTH is im AFRAID to MOD her phone because its not mine and i dont know what correct files
should i use please help me guys!!
The other option is to have someone do it for you. I soft bricked my phone so I sent it to MobileTechVideos. They fixed it and installed a new ROM for me. Rooting and ROM service is $30. The repair service + new ROM is $60. Make certain that you specify which ROM version you want. No affiliation, just a satisfied customer. Good luck.
I would also wonder does your aunt need a special ROM on the phone? Is this her first smart phone? If so I would just root it and remove all the bloat apps with titanium backup and the phone would be tip top with amazing battery life. Find out what she needs in a phone before installing the ROMs because some features may not work.
I would check for software updates as well because it should be at 2.3 so you can just run it rooted with 2.3 and its a great phone. I ran it like that for quite awhile.

thanks for those who replied i just updated her phone to 2.3 and rooted it plus i removed the bloated apps (just like i did when i got my 1st smart phone hehe!)

[Q] Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 for use as a dedicated GPS

I have a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 that is now sitting unused since I upgraded to the S5.
The S3 is an:
SCH-I535
Android version 4.4.2
Baseband version I535OYUDNE1
Kernal version 3.4.0 [email protected] #1
Build number KOT49H.I535VRUDNE1
What I would like to do is make this phone a dedicated GPS using various mapping apps like Locus Pro, OSMand, Here and others. The phone was rooted and I returned it to stock and it updated to 4.4.2. I would like to re-root so that I can take advantage of the external SD card. Can someone give me some advice on where to find the correct root and also what stock apps I can delete without affecting the GPS location functions?
Thanks in advance and I apologize if I placed this in the wrong category.

Towelroot would be your best option for root, unfortunately I can't help much with the GPS, I'd suggest using maps but what to disable I can't direct you there as I'm not on the locked bootloader
From my CM11 S3

Will Towel root work with version 4.4.4., Kernal version 3.4.0 dated Sep 14, 2014? I don't want an expensive brick.

That I'm unsure of, I'm almost sure that the S3 ended up on 4.4.2 and not 4.4.4 but I could be wrong

Help on a MF1 baseband upgrading it to "?"

Im a S4 and now a S5 user and this Verizion I535 S3 is looking scary. Two years ago I got the phone, unlocked the bootloader, installed a custom recovery, and installed CleanROM Seven. It has 4.1.2 Android Version with MF1 Baseband. With so many threads on updating to 4.3 and 4.4 is very bad with this version of phone, what options do I have? It's GPS is all mest up and hope to improve some battery by putting a new updated ROM on it. Can somebody point me in the right direction and show me some good options with links?

As far as roms you have many choices. Have you tried tightening the screws on the back of the phone? I've read people have had luck with that. I'd stay with the unlocked bootloader

Currently I flashed the latest TWRP and found a old Synergy Rom that's dated April 2013 that runs 4.1.2 and is MF1 based, other then that ROM can't find anything else that I believe would flash correctly. After installing the ROM, GPS was not fixed, and came across the "tightening of screws trick" As everybody has posted, it worked! Nevertheless, on day one got a random reboot and a forceclose on the camera. Still looking for ROM choices that I could use.

Glad to hear the screw option worked. You can always go with a rom that's not 4.1.2 based. There are plenty of custom roms out there for the S3

[Completed] Old Galaxy S4 on new carrier. How do I update to Marshmallow or other?

Samsung Galaxy S4 SGH-I337
Baseband version: I337UCUGOK2
Kernel version: 3.4.0-6185444
[email protected] #1
Build number: LRX22C.I337UCUGOK2
I am going to be using an old S4 from At&t until I save up for something better.
It has been recovered to its original state and It will not let me do a software update past 5.0.1 because At&t has never pushed it out.
The phone is also now being used with Cricket wireless.
I would like to be able to just use the most recent stock update from Samsung and get rid of any trace of AT&T from this phone if I can but I don't know for a fact if Samsung ever updated the S4.
If that's not an option, then where do I start learning about custom ROMs, and how to know what's supported etc.?
I don't care about voiding ANYTHING in this endeavor.
I'm an old G33K but rooting, and custom ROMs are new to me. I have spent countless hours on YouTube but it's filled with so much useless info as I'm sure you all know.
Thank you so much for your time in reading this & any reply.

Greetings and welcome to assist. I don't think samsung updated the s4 past 5.0, you could just root your phone to remove any at&t apps. There is a very simple guide here
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-att/general/how-to-installed-custom-lollipop-rom-t3135396
on how to install a custom rom on your device
Good Luck
