Android Open Source Compiler
Build Android with a gui.
This project will be a continuous battle. Which is why I decided to not "package" this in terms of distro. I have written a make file and instructions on how to build this very easily. This way, you can't always get the latest code from either they master (unstable) branch or the Stable (stable) branch. Plus no harm in teaching you little bit of git.
Use the poll to gauge project priority, also mention more projects so I can add them to the polls.

Known issues:
- When using the options dropdown, you can't choose the same option twice in a row. I am aware and working on it.
- Apparently there are some issues with the adb options. Please let me know if this is the case.
Please read:
I have thought maybe times different ways I was going to go about this. Ads, donate version, paid app, etc. I choose to keep the project open, as that's how I roll. I do ask that if you enjoy the application that you try to donate something. This was my first gui project and took a lot of time and effort to even get it to where it is right now. I hope everyone enjoys the app as much as I enjoy working on it.

Lithid, thanks for your hard work man. I'll definitely be checking this out when I feel a little more comfortable doing things manually. I think this is an awesome project and just want you to know that I appreciate your help and involvement with android.
id love to try both CMC and AOSC, but i use a yum based system. is there a way to get this to work on a yum based system, specifically fedora?

Perhaps fork it to my Git and get it set up to Work with our source?

Same here on the S2 for TMO. AOKP doesn't seem to be too friendly to noobs, at least in my case.

It doesn't seem like it is possible to integrate own drivers (eg for porting to other devices). Or am I missing something?

I am working on rpm support. I don't use rpm distros, currently installing fedora on a vm to get it working.

Mind being a little more descriptive?
If your specific device is having issues compiling, then you either need to figure out the issue and commit it to cm, find out what is wrong with specific steps like if ./extract-files.sh isn't working. Overtime this might be able to overcome every possible mishap, but doubtful. It is a work in progress and if issues do arise, I need a little more information so I can try and find a solution.
A couple of times building for the TMO S3 I got two different errors. One is the kernel not being built. Second is it asks me if I have the correct manifest. Happens on both CM and AOKP. I have created a local_manifest file and inputed the kernel info for my device from CM but still no luck.

Well hello!
Please read this post regarding the development of the rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29811287#post29811287
This is my attempt to port oxygen rom (and i think i've done a pretty good job) on our lgp500.
Please remember this: anything that is written here or in the unwritten law of common sense can and will be ignored.
Now let's get to the facts:
Oxygen ROM is a highly optimized AOSP rom with only a few added features. I also intend to keep it that way. There will be no added features unless the good people from Oxygen want to add them. The rom is like this for a reason. So requests like "can you add theme manager?", "can it make me coffee?" will be ignored.
This ROM is now for new baseband only (as of v2.2). I see people on this forum have a hard time understanding this so i'll write it again. This ROM is for new baseband only.
No need to flash GAPPS now... included in zip file
There is no need for screenshots since this is basically AOSP. So just look around for some AOSP screenshots.
I am not responsible for any damage to your phone. You chose to flash the ROM it's your responsibility.
Now as for how to flash it:
copy to sd->wipe data, cache, dalvik->flash (i flashed with clockworkmod, but might work with others)
No need to flash gapps now... Included in zip

great job, mate. I wish you success with bugs' fixes.
Can I use this ROM for everyday working?
Man pop,this is great dude
BTW,is Oxygen opensource or not?
To answer some questions:
The screenshot problem was already discussed. If you really don't know anything about Oxygen a nice ol' google search would do. Also this is their official website (also found on google) off-topic: i find that google is a great way of finding information, don't you?
As for the .35 kernel i do want to implement it in a future release. I wanted to do it now but there were some big bugs going in terms of graphics with the .35. But i promise it will come in a future release. I also tried building with fserve's gbs kernel(.32) but there was no wireless... so i just kept franco's .32 kernel. Better stable and old than brand spanking new and unstable.
And you can use this for everyday. I use it everyday. I don't use bluetooth that much so i'm good Also, in my case i have better battery life than cyanogenmod. Probably because there are less apps in there.
Also thank you for your kind words everyone.
Thanks for completing knzo dream
Anyone have any information as to where I can go to learn how to build/compile a kernel for my nexus s 4g? Id like to take a feeble stab at it. Thanks!
Here are some guides I used for getting started:
» [How-To] compile the Nexus S kernel from source
» [HOW-TO] Compile AOSP Gingerbread + [ROM] Master AOSP
» Building Kernel from source - CyanogenMod Wiki
Please note that most of the time you cannot just follow the guides verbatim. Just use it as "guidelines" and adapt it to suit your development environment.
Also you should have basic to moderate understanding in Git in order to apply patches/mods to your kernel properly.
Thanks. Almost easier to pay someone, what with being lazy and all.
Yeah, that's what I do now -- using a "tried and tested by community" kernel/ROM is much easier for life.
I think there are enough kernel threads in XDA that you should find one that suits your needs, and you can send a donation to the developer to show you appreciation in his/her work
There are quite a few, yes. Although I want a 'feature from this kernel and a tweak from that kernel'...or 'Id use this one if it didnt have that feature'...so I just sit at stock...
Lol, sounds like a "walk in the middle path" philosophy
That's a good decision though, nowadays instead of spending time compiling my own kernel, I spend as much time in checking the Development forum -- looking for new kernel(s) update everyday. It's kinda addict once you've tried flashing them
Hey Tails,
I am trying to take a stab at compiling my own kernel too. How did it go for you? I am having problems myself.

Thanks for the quick reply, I think I have repo sync'd and also done
Code:
git clone https://android.googlesource.com/kernel/samsung.git
But I end up with an empty directory called samsung with a hidden directory .repo
Is this correct? Is the 3.0 kernel for nexus s somewhere else?
Well I haven't update the kernel sources since kernel.org was down... However, I think this may also be a good starting point.

Just finished cloning samsung.git from googlesource. I suppose the directory name should be .git? If so, from within samsung directory, type the following command:
Code:
git branch -a
This will list all branches in the repository. You should see something like this:
Code:
* master
remotes/origin/HEAD -> origin/master
remotes/origin/android-samsung-2.6.35-gingerbread
remotes/origin/android-samsung-3.0-ics-mr1
remotes/origin/master
If you want the kernel code for ICS (linux 3.0), type the following command:
Code:
git checkout android-samsung-3.0-ics-mr1
This will checkout the code from the corresponding branch name. If things go well, you should see something like this:
Code:
Checking out files: 100% (37465/37465), done.
Branch android-samsung-3.0-ics-mr1 set up to track remote branch android-samsung-3.0-ics-mr1 from origin.
Switched to a new branch 'android-samsung-3.0-ics-mr1'
Git will create a new local branch for you. To see it, just type git branch -a again.
Now it's time to play!
thanks boss,
Really appreciate you taking the time to do this, it was successful. Here I go to brick my nexus S

That sounds correct to me. However, I haven't done this for almost a year so I'll just try to recall from my memory =.= Usually the steps should be:
get the boot partition from the phone using dd?
use extract-bootimg.pl to extract the ramdisk
use mkbootimg to create a new boot image from the extracted ramdisk and your zImage
try it with fastboot boot newbootimage.img
Sorry that I couldn't be of more help
You have been great help. Thanks.

What is Evervolv?
Evervolv is an AOSP (Android Open Source Project) rom. We're fully open sourced and encourage it with no restrictions. The work put into this rom is community driven and and Evervolv Project is made up of numerous members and contributors. And this whole time we were receiving 4.3 nightlies
Right now the current source we are working on is Jellybean (Android 4.3.x).
Current version: 3.3.0p1
Nightlies (starting 8.28.2013) available for testing. Once issues are re mediated, a release build will be posted.
Pre-Requisites:
1. CWM or TWRP
2. S-Off, or thorough understanding of how you work around S-On to get the kernel included in this ROM flashed. FAUX, CM kernels are not compatible and will result in functionality issues if it boots at all.
3. Desire to be helpful in an appropriate manner. Logcats, dmesgs, etc are very helpful, and necessary to assist.
4. Full data wipe/factory reset
Downloads:
http://www.evervolv.com/devices/speedy - Named "ev_speedy-nightly-2013.xx.xx-squished.zip"
This requires gapps for 4.3, do not use 4.2 gapps.
Where do we get the GApps?
Edit: I got them from HERE. 20130813
Edit2: Wow this works great right out of the box! Nightly 10-2
thanks, runs great so far. only issue i see right now is i cant take screenshots, keeps telling me storage might be in use but its not.
Confirmed on my end. Screenshot isn't working for me either. I'll try to get a logcat later tonight.
Here is the logcat I got when attempting to get a screen shot. I hope this helps.

Hey fellow Atrix 2 users, here's my first ROM built from source: Carbon. I realize that there is s port already form the hard working A2EPT (and much faster than myself!). I built this a few weeks ago and thought I'd share it anyway (with their consent). It runs prettys smooth and has been trouble free for myself, hopefully it's the same for you!

In Apps/Running Services there is a "Carbon Delta" process always running. I don't see something similar in other Roms ?

You wouldn't see it in other ROM's because it's specific to Carbon. I believe it's related to their OTA updates. I just disabled it on my phone and everything is fine. Maybe I can look into disabling it out of the box.
I used Link2sd to freeze it and everything works ok. I'll keep it frozen for a few days just to make sure.

Just posted 4.4.4. I sounds like it's just security updates. Carbon has made some minor changes as well. Enjoy!

I'll try this rom soon...
Alright friends, I posted a new build. It took a while longer than I'd have liked, I accidentally trainwrecked my data drive a few weeks ago and I finally got the time to rebuild it. It wasn't so much that it took a long time to restore it, work just got in the way Enjoy!

Hello, everyone!
I have CM12 built for the M8 and figured I would let others try it out.
Unofficial, Unstable Builds
It is almost certainly not 100% functional. As such, I am not responsible for anything that happens to your device or anything that happens to you or anything around your device. No guarantees that this ROM will be safe at all.
It is built entirely from what our wonderful device maintainers have in CyanogenMod's repositories. Again, it is probably not complete, and I do not know what is/isn't working. All I have done is apply some patches to get the build in a "buildable" status. It builds for me, no guarantees that it will run for you.
Having a public forum for people to debug these types of builds may help the device maintainers to see what needs worked on.

If I get into the groove of nightlies now, it will be easy to convert to not having to fix stuff once everything starts working. Thank you for your work!

That's the way it works now... it's all in the .dat file
What works?
What doesn't?
Should I post my own builds?
I believe I have all but camera at this point. (looking into this now)
Wifi works, LTE works, and everything else I've tried...

damn man ...no offense meant but with a broken arm you can do all this. Just wondering what you would do without it broken.
Hope you get well soon. I would say post it for us peeps to play with.
I'd say to post yours as well santod, I see the m7 folks are enjoying the build you put out

Camera works on my build
Spoiler
As per usual I take no responsibility if any of my suggestions cause your device to brick, explode, melt, raise your house payments, shave your dog or pack up and move to the Bahamas.
Loving all the progress on various builds but please commit them back to CM branch too It's great having people fix issues but even better if we can get them in one tree of code. If I actually had anything useful to contribute I gladly would Dan's fixes on the CM12 tree cover the tiny fixes I made though
