Hey,
just want to inform you, that 2.31 is vulnerable to a remote reset, too.
I tested it via stock browser and Firefox (beta).
Wait for a fix or read here for workarounds:
http://dylanreeve.posterous.com/remote-ussd-attack
You can test the exploit with an iframe "attack" as demo, which will just show you your IMEI:
http://dylanreeve.com/phone.php
WAP Push works, too. Tested it.
Bye
Use this app as workaround:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.voss.notelurl
Telstop also another that works well - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.mulliner.telstop
My HTC One S with Viper ONE S ROM is vulnerable..
Just tested NoTelURL and TelStop and they work fine.
Thank you.
Just to let you guys know:
Droider has tried the Samsung Factory Reset code on an HTC One V, One S and One X - and it does nothing. As far as he knows, HTC don't embed a USSD Code for unattended Factory Reset (although of course he stands to be corrected).
So far all this can do is reasonably innocent and reversible things; if anyone knows any "Sinister" USSD codes for HTC, please let us all know.
Just tested on the latest (unnoficial) AOKP, not vunerable.

I got the Inspire 4G. It really is a nice device. It truly is a re-badged Desire HD. HTC has forgotten to change some of the BT menus so they even still say Desire HD.
The software set is fairly decent and unrestrictive. There is a fair amount of AT&T Bloatware that can't just be uninstalled (normal).
I have been up all morning trying to find a version of SWYPE that hasn't expired that has a matching screen resolution for the phone. Even being part of the beta you can sideload the swype app but then the app itself wants to install a separate language pack which the phone blocks.
Feel free to PM suggestions or post questions.

I got it early via an HTC Release party for the phone. I work for AT&T.

So how did you get Swype working? I'm sure people will be wondering how to do it when the phone launches.
Not only that, but which version of it are you using, if you don't mind me asking. Swype is the first thing I want on this come Sunday.

This is an easy fix fortunately with the Telus radio. Stupid on their part though. At least its fixable by us on the Inspire, unlike the atrix.

Early reports have suggested that the RUU downgrade (in order to root) is causing sound to fail on the Telus Desire HD. So tread cautiously with your Inspires. Maybe they changed the audio hardware and the older firmwares don't have a driver for it?

One person who got the sound bug just got his DHD replaced and won't try again until it is safe. Another user who got it too - has said he will try reflashing the Telus RUU when he gets home in a few hours. If that succeeds then at least we know there's a safety net.
The sound bug is fixed already. i'm running a euro rom on mine with working sound. Everything will be available shortly.
Btw flashing the att ruu fixed any issues i had with sound so there is a safety net.

Says no recipient for video call. Strange, as one of my contacts has Endymion installed on his Desire S. I'll try this evening and report.
Check with your operator first. 3G Video Call is a service provided by the operator, you cannot call this way as with skype for ex. If you both don't have the service activated (could cost you money), the call cannot be performed.
There's another topic related to this subject HERE. Maybe it's a good idea that a mod will merge them to have whole discussion in a single place
I think till now HTC doesnt support stock video call..... I sent a mail to HTC regarding this waiting for their reply.....
Sent from my HTC Desire S using xda premium
OK. I've started some "research" into this cause it seems alot of you are intereseted in this 3G Video Calling feature. I even reflash Endymion now to check few things.
1. Why some have that small camera (option) in the People tab and some don't? (When arranging tabs in People/Contacts, there's a video camera that can be added to the existing tabs.)
I think is depending on what ROM each has. If you have the stock Desire S ROM (or based on one), you will not have it... The ones that have it, are the ones that have a ported ROM from Sensation (as is Endymion ROM). Sensation has this so, since the ROM is ported from there, we have it also on the Desire S. On US site, you can check on official HTC site HERE that Sensation 4G has "Video calling enabled"
2. What do we need to use this function?
There are two things: the service from the operator AND a compatible phone. The first is easy, for the second though...there are some "problems"
Searching on the forums, I've found some official answers from HTC regarding this subject. I'll quote below one relevant:
Video Call Compatibility
AT present (April 2011) these handsets run the 2.2 (Froyo) or 2.3 (Gingerbread) versions of the Android OS and these does not natively support video calls.
In the future, if the device is updated to 2.4, it is rumoured that this will natively support video calls, but this is not known yet.
In the meantime, until video calls are natively supported, customers will need to use a third party application to utilise video calling. The people they are calling will need to also have this software installed on their handsets.
There are currently two applications which will support video calling, Fring and Tango Video Calls.
Skype have said they will be updating their software in the future to support video calling on the android platform.
This information is subject to change at any time as updates and new software is released.
Said that, it seems that we don't have yet this function even if some Samsung phones have it (Samsung Galaxy S2 for ex, you can check user manual pag. 45 for video call options)
3. What do we have to do?
For now?...sadly, nothing. HTC was not natively included this in our phones and since there are alot of third party applications that offers video call features, there is no developer willing to integrate such functionality. Maybe a port from Galaxy S2 could bring something, I'm not a developer to know if there is such port or if it is even possible.
So we have to wait for an update from HTC that hopefully will activate this on Desire S. Till then we have Tango, Skype, Fring and so on...
I hope this will clear things a little bit. If someone else has a different opinion or know a way to do this, please share it
Thanks for investigating into this! I'm Sure we will be able to get it working soon!

Has anyone successfully gotten the hulu app to work on their one x? I've tried multiple modded versions that have worked in the past for me for my vivid and none of them are working on the one x. They just sit there buffering forever. Any ideas?
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
So far I haven't found a solution. Everything I tested is the same buffering problem you said.
I am in the same boat. I have the international version of the 1x and I'm able to get hulu working. But I just purchased the AT&T 1x and it doesn't work. all it does is op stated just stays stuck buffering. I wonder what is different between both phones that will cause this
I actually get the error that my device isn't currently supported. I'm going to try to find a work-around via the browser and a modified version of the Adobe Flash apk I have lying around from my old days of doing this with my Captivate.
I have tried a few modded hulu .apk's as well with the same stuck buffering problem. I really would like to get my money's worth out of my Hulu + subscription.
Come on Hulu!
I sent them an email at [email protected] asking for device compatibility with the AT&T HTC One X (I made sure to call it that so there was no confusion as to what device I was referring to) and this is the BS reply I got.
Thanks for your email. Because Android phones and tablets each have a different set of specifications that we need to take into account, we're only able to support a select number of them at this point in time. While I don't have a time frame to share right now, we'll be adding new Android devices regularly.
Again, I'm sorry for the frustration. We're working hard to bring Hulu Plus to a wide variety of Android devices as soon as possible. Thanks for being patient with us in the meantime. If there's anything else I can address for you, please let me know.
Thanks,
Olivia

So, Hulu Plus can't support various devices, but Netflix can? My guess is that they have only one poor sod who is working on all the mobile apps. Regardless, please email [email protected] and tell them you want to see Hulu Plus on the AT&T HTC One X, I figure the more people emailing them the higher the chances are that we'll see the app released.
My reply was a little different. I'm hoping that they will add it soon as there are many HTC phones one the supported list.
"Giorgio M., May 08 07:33 am (PDT):
Hi Art,
Thanks for getting in touch with us, and thanks for the suggestion. We'd love to get Hulu Plus working on as many devices as possible, so while there's no update at the moment, I wouldn't be surprised to see it pop up at some point. A lot of folks ask about adding the HTC One X to Hulu Plus, so we're certainly aware of the demand.
Before we can officially support it, we need to obtain a specific set of streaming rights, and we also need agreements in place with both our content partners and the device manufacturer itself – and these steps can take time. If or when support is announced, you'll see it listed at ( www.hulu.com/plus/devices ).
I hope this helps. If there's anything else I can address, please let me know.
Thanks, Giorgio M. Hulu Support"

No luck, I get the eternal buffering issue I and others had when trying modded flash players/hulu plus apks. It claims I'm having network issues, but I doubt that.
I might add that I'm stock, un-rooted, bootloader locked (for now at least)
There is an update today that works on the HOX.
Note: if you have AdAway installed you need to disable ad blocking and reboot or you'll get an error.
Edit: Argh, spoke too soon. Got it to work once and not since then. Some reviews in the App market suggest it does work, though. I suspect it's blocking rooted devices.

I hope that someone knows how to fix it and thanks for the help.

In regards to this, many settings of the phone are set to what region they were manufactured for. I took one of our test One S phones and there isn't a setting in the app to change the text orientation. As a workaround for this, I'd suggest trying a third party app from Google Play store. I'd like for you to give this a shot, and if you have any further problems then let me know. In the meanwhile, I hope you have a great day!"

Run a WWE RUU. Why did you talk about the iPhone 5? It has no relevance. The problem is where you bought the device from, which is Saudi Arabia. Arabic writes from right to left, which is why you should buy it from another country if you're from a different country.

I have just seen this article on the Verge.com 'Remote wipe attack not limited to Samsung phones, Android dialer may be to blame'. Basically there is an issue in the dialier where o website could put a string in to wipe your device automatically.
The Verge also have a test to see if your device is vulnerable to attack and if it is, the website will open up your dialer and show you your imei number, which happens with the ONE S.

On a side note if you know someone with an S3 you can skip all this remote wipe crap and just trick them into dialing this number.

Don't worry to much because of this issue.
The Samsung code factory reset code: *2767*3855# is not working on HTC phones. Also HTC seems to doesn't have any factory rested codes. The Show IMEI code is working as well as some other but non of them is really dangerous as the Samsung one.
