Software update? - T-Mobile LG G2x

Lo and beware, I got a notice about an update this morning before 6.10. I'm up to date on GB, so what's up? Naturally the connection to the server always fails when I do the check. . . .
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda app-developers app
UPDATE: checked the LG support tool at 10.40 which says no update needed. Nevertheless, I still get the exclamation point in the status bar and "you can check a new software" although (as happened with GB) it is impossible to connect to the LG server with the phone.

Same here. Rooted stock 2.3.4.

My phone has been saying connection failed since just before the last update. I had to use the LG Tool last time. But as for now, I haven't gotten any notices, and the LG Tool says i'm up to date. Who knows, maybe by the end of the day, there will be something........HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!

Got up this morning, there was a notification of new update available, installed it! Hola! Official Jelly bean with butter!
Then I really woke up to know it was a dream!

This makes me want to flash a stock rooted Rom just to see the message despite what you guys have said about not being able to download it

The update is that there's no update.

Software Update Check Fails

Going to settings > about phone > software update > software update check results in an error every time - failed connection. Anyone else experience this?
Thanks

I'm getthing this as well, the other day I was getting an authentication error instead. I've been checking a few times a day just for giggles to see if there's any updates. Perhaps this "connection failed" is an indicator something is about to happen?
I've gotten both of those errors ever since the phone was released. I wouldn't read into it too much.

It looks like according to LG website you need to download the phone software and connect your phone to a PC\MAC and check\install software updates that way.
http://www.lg.com/us/support/mc-support/mobile-phone-support.jsp
I get the same thing.
Does it have anything to do with being rooted?
Everyone gets this error. It simply means that no update is available.

Software Update not supported for this model

I just used the LGMobile Support tool to check for updates. This time it said update available launced a new screen checked the s/w version then gave me the message "Software Update not supported for this model". Mine is rooted running the FAUX ext4 kernel. Has anyone tried with a stock phone?
I have used it on a my phone without an issue. I am running a stock build of froyo and I am not rooted.

Have you tried recently? I am curious if there really is an update.
I have no examples or anything, but I seem to remember a few threads before where people said there was an update, tried to go through with it and there wasn't really one... Or something like that.
Unless this is ANOTHER one, but I doubt it.

I got the notification earlier today, it downloaded the entire thing, rebooted, starting installing then went back to lock screen saying install failed. Now when I try to check for updates it says I have to wait 23 hours to check again epic fail lol...
Look in the cache partition and try reinstalling.
For those of you who have it, can you upload and post it somewhere?

I got a very similar result. It downloaded, rebooted and then said "Install Interrupted." Now I can't even choose the "Continue update" option and my phone is still reporting:

Kernel: 2.6.35.11

Keep the downloaded OTA on your /sdcard, but DO NOT INSTALL it! There is some dev work being done on the newest "leak", and I can tell you, things have changed. Avoid complications, and just sit back and hold tight to the OTA you found until we (erm... the devs) have tested this, and can get us back to stock.
Trust me...
will do

Yes. The new leak is very much final ICS for us. And, as jim mentioned, it will lock us down even more with no way to return to GB. Unless that doesn't matter to you for some reason, I would stick with the first ICS leak found and posted in the general section. Then you may flash a ROM made from the new leak if you wish to experience what the newest leak has to offer. Or, you can decide for yourself what's best for you..

That statement is not entirely true. You can install it being rooted. But, if you have ever had bootstrap/BootMenu installed.. or have removed any files that get patch checks, then it won't install.
Well where is the first leak? I'm lookin not finding, the one i found they said i had to rsd flash to searet or mearet but rsd would not flash with the files the site gave me, my bootloader says failed n evertime i rebooted is goes to bootloader, but i'm not a novice n fix that prob, so if anyone has a att edison ATRIX 2 n installed the first leak give a how to please, do i have to flash bck to 2.3.5 cause i did dat got the ota to 2.3.6 tried the update n still nothing, i just wanna get of GB it's cool but everyone is upgrading n I'm stuck waitin for moto dev to stop scratching their ass n give us what we want :banghead:

o Currently when customers launch one of these applications they are connected to the Google Play storefront, but they are not given the option to download the application.
Software Download/Update Instructions:
Network Initiated Software Update
Upon receipt of the Software Update notification, the customer should select Continue and follow the simple steps to download and install the new software. Customers will also have the option to postpone the update for 1, 4, or 8 hours. Note: Only those customers who have upgraded to Ice Cream Sandwich will receive this FOTA message.
1. Tap "Continue"
2. After the software is downloaded, Tap "Install now"
3. After the software is installed, the phone will re-start automatically
4. The phone is now upgraded to Baseband version I727UCLI3.

1. Tap "Settings" icon
2. Tap "About Device"
3. Tap "Software Update"
4. Tap "Check for Updates"
* A message will display. "Software update process will not delete any personal data on your phone. Check the AT&T server for new software update?"
5. Tap OK
* A message will display. "A new software update from AT&T is available for your phone. This update will occur over Wi-Fi. Please make sure to stay within the Wi-Fi coverage area while the download takes place. This could take several minutes."
6. Tap Continue
* The device will automatically restart once the new software has successfully downloaded.
* Status Message: "The software has been successfully installed. Your phone is now ready for use."
7. Tap OK
The device must have an active SIM card installed to accept the update. Ensuring the device battery is charged to at least 50% is recommended for a successful software installation. The software update is available over Wi-Fi only.
