You need to get a different phone. The geniuses that built our phone, decided to block that feature on a hardware level.

When you say hardware level, do mean firmware? or do you mean the audio chip itself is completely incapable of recording during a call. Surely there must be a way to trick the system into recording a call?

Sadly... No trick... The hardware itself is incapable to record calls... *sigh*

Use this app

It's an elusive topic, most phones out there cannot do this natively. The South Korean Galaxy S is known to have this feature BUILT-IN.
Wonder if Nexus S can do this?

Anybody...?
No

I'm interested in this too... My LG Scoop dumbphone (Ahhh, the Alltel days) could do this natively, but I never found an app for it when I got my Droid.

The Galaxy S does call recording...

Think it can be hacked onto the Nexus S which uses basically the same design and components?

With Galxy S you just need to take the libaudiopolicy.so from the Korean Galaxy and it works.
of course I tried the libaudiopolicy.so with Nexus S but phone won't boot after this.

Just wanna buy Google Nexus S , but call recording is importing for me .
There is a restriction recording calls on Nexus S. Don't know why...
It would be cool if somebody find the solution...
IMO there is no way to enable call recording. Nexus S is 1 year old, and today it still don't have ability to record calls.

Inner call record???
to clarify, you want to record the audio/conversations on your calls?
voice recorder should, you just start it before you make the call.
i haven't used it in a while but I know it worked on my evo
I remember i had a rom on my captivate that had a button on the screeen while in call you could activate a recorder never used it but i thought it was cool as hell.

I do not think any of the available kernels support 2way call recording as of yet.
The first two apps that show up in the market work fine...
Record my call
Total recall
Voice recorder doesnt work.

I just want to check that this is still the case, as far as everyone knows.
Are there no call recording apps that will capture both sides of the conversation while the phone is not on speakerphone (unrooted Infuse)? Nor custom ROMs that offer that capability?
Thanks!

Hi new-noob,
Xoom hardware doesn't support calls, I mean you can receive them, but you won't be able to speak or hear what the other says. It's all about hardware....

From your normal phone, you dial a short number with star and hash to check your credits, or to subscribe for a service or to a ringtone, well this is called ussd.

Well i dont think it is a hardware problem. iPhone 4 has the exact same radio like the motorola xoom 3g (The Qualcomm MDM6600)
Maybe the firmware motorola has flashed into the radio disabled voice call capabilities?
Samsung Galaxy tab does not support voice call but after installing a firmware mod (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=929479) it can now voice call over GSM
what do you think?
Hmmm. Interesting. Can't really give you a firm answer on the firmware mod, but what I tested was that Xoom couldn't get voice call on. Simply the call might get thru, but voice can't be established as device speaker / mic don't function / get triggered with that.

Maybe you should talk with developers here :

The phone works: camera, games, SMS sends.
But no sound, the microphone does not work for calls, hang up calls. All audio files are for inclusion in fast forward, online youtube just to rewind and no sound.
Please tell me how to fix this? Tried to change the firmware, firmware counter is not changed - to "No"

Carrier? if its T-Mobile if its ULTRA clear means you're connected to another person on the other line that has a HD Voice Capable device
If it just sounds like Normal it means the other person doesn't have a HD voice capable phone or you or the other person is not on the capable network (HSPA) So Both of you Could have HD Voice handsets but the other person is on Edge which reverts it back to normal voice

Mine is like that only when I'm talking to my son on his S4. He said the same thing that when he's talking to me the voice quality is super clear. He's on Bell, I'm on Telus.
