[Q] Bricked Help if u can - HTC Sensation

Hi fellow member,
i have a sensation 4g. It was working 6 months ago. It was rooted running fine and with a custom rom. Than i got a new phone the droid razr . 3 months later i want to mess around with my old phone. The battery died on me thought nothing of it. I put it on the charger and no lights came on. Went out for a couple of hours. Came back and tried to turn on my phone. Nothing came on so my first and only thought was it self bricked it. Ive tried the unnbricking fourm they have on this site. I'm lost a little but I got some linux exp. When i try to the commands in the terminal says " cant find device". My phone cant be seen if the battery is out of it ( the screen does light up sometimes) but when i but the battery in it. The screens lights up than turns off. Than my computer sees it. ( I'm using backtrack 5 r3 and Ubuntu 12.04). I try to get in the in the terminal, but i get permission denied. I'm thinking there is no hope for it except the jtagg ( whatever it is called lol). I really want to fix it with out using paid stuff. There should be a way to get in phone, bypassing the permission thing. If anyone can help me please leave a support. I really want to learn new things and willing to try new things.

try this ..power off the phone .. remove battery, sdcard and sim and try to charge the phone for 5-6 hours ...it helped couple of people ..might help in your case too

If you have a spare battery give that a try and see if device will boot then. It's likely just the battery if it was functioning fine before you put it away.
sent from HTC sensation, soff, 3.33 firmware, viper Rom, sense 4.1, mugen battery. please press thanks if I helped in anyway.

I did try it still nothing. Just taking a guess but im sure when you put the phone into qhsusb mode. It wont boot up anymore but i do still see the phone when i find it in linux. Ive tried to find a why around the access deined, but Im not there in linux skills to do that.

Had a similar problem, not sure what happened but it just died so I tried all the tips and tricks mentioned here was unsuccessfull, sent back to HTC and replaced the motherboard.
What was your rom before it died? Was it overclocked?

[Q] Sensation won't turn on!

Hey everyone! So my brother was playing on my phone last night and the phone died coz it ran outta battery and now it wont turn on. I rooted the phone completely 2 days ago. Can someone please help me out? I tried charging the phone for hours but still didnt work. Will the phone turn on if I get another battery? Or is there any other way to solve this? Thank you!
This has happened to me too. I pulled the battery and then it seems to boot fine.

I tried doing that aswell. But it didn't work. Even tried charging it for 8 hours but no luck! I don't know what to do!

Dead Desire S - Any help?

Hi All,
My Desire S decided to die today for no apparent reason:
I had been browsing the internet before jumping in my car and switching on the bluetooth. I had been driving for about 10 mins when I got a call through on my cars bluetooth system, about 3 mins in to the call the caller disappeared even though the car said it was still connected.
I pulled over to check the phone and found it was frozen on the call screen. So I disconnected the battery and powered it up, but it could only get the the HTC splash and sound before the screen turned black and the unit became unresponsive.
A few more tries gave the same issue, so i decided to boot it into recovery to do a full wipe, this completed successfully, but the phone was still doing the same thing.
After removing the battery again the phone will now not turn on at all and does not respond to the charger (no led). I've tested another battery, but still no luck, and tried the bat from my DS in my sisters DS and it works fine.
So my phone is completely dead it seems. I should probably send it off to HTC for a repair, but the problem is that the phone is S-OFF and i have no way of getting it S-ON while it's bricked.
Can anybody suggest anything?
I'm not having much luck with HTC as my mozart is at the repair centre as we speak with a bootloader issue... I might have to choose another manufacturer in future
PS: It was S-OFF but running stock software
there is not much to say...try to remove battery and wait for a while...if issue still persist htc service is only hope

Thanks, i'll leave it overnight and see how it looks in the morning. Luckily i have an optimus one spare that has always served me well... It just does not come close to my DS.
I've just had a development!
When i plug it into my windows 7 pc it recognises it as a device "QHSUSB_DLOAD" but fails to install a driver for it.
Can anybody elaborate on what this is?
Thanks!

Afraid this is not good news...you'll need to reign the device and claim under warranty, I wouldn't worry of you made it soff they probably won't be able to tell, read the recent posts on the ext4 recovery thread as same thing happened to someone else

Ok thanks for letting me know. I must remember not to customize my HTC's in future...
Is not customize`s fault is yours because you removed the battery when it was still working (freeze yes but chip is still working) :| How ben_pyett said you must send it to htc... there are similar posts around here and all removed the battery > htc service ...sry mate

Well i've got it booked in for repair.
Has anybody here had many dealings with HTC Repair, or Regenersis (the UK repairer)?
The guy I spoke to over email (i got fed up of waiting on the phone) about my Desire S was a complete retard. He sent me the same email 3 times in reply to me telling me to restore factory settings... Each time I told him it was not possible as the phone would not switch on...
He then told me that UPS could not pick up my phone for at least 2 weeks, this is despite the fact that I sent my Mozart in for repair last week and was told at least 48 hours. So I would have to find my own way to post or courier it.
Then he books the phone in and sends me the 'Tick Sheet' with the phone information and problem description and in the problem description box he wrote "HELLO"??? WTF? What sort of jokers are these?
At least the woman I spoke to about my Mozart was helpful, she actually gave a meaningful response to my questions, but even she got the problem description wrong, writing just "Reboot Cycle" which is way to vague considering the problem it actually had.

HTC Sensation Bricked? Suddenly can't turn on anymore..

Hi guys,
I've run into some problems, I installed Android Revolution HD 6.5 two days ago. Everything worked like a charm, now I shutted down my phone to go in recovery, sadly enough my phone won't reboot, does not charge nor does it respond to my desperate pushes on the power button. Anyone experienced anything like this?
Worth mentioning also is that the battery was 80+% charged.. So it would seem strange to me that this would anything to do with eventual dead battery.
Just to be clear: hadn't installed anything, nothing less, nothing more.
If I could just get acces to bootloader through usb or anything like this.
I fear that there is someting seriously wrong here?
What are you guys thinking? Any possible solutions?
Hi,
The same thing more or less happened to me.
My phone went dead one night and wouldnt turn on, charge or connect with the PC. I had already arranged a repair with HTC for another issue and so I sent it off to them and a few days later I now have it back and it is working fine so far.
They replaced the mainboard and a few other bits and pieces all under warranty.
I hope you get your phone fixed and sorted asap.

Hi,
Is there any chance the battery pins could be damaged or bent?
Is there any way for you to get hold of another battery(from a shop or friend) and try that?
I will test the battery in the laboratory tomorrow.. I've read you should get a minimum of 3.6V or something like that? Curious to see what has caused this problem. Do you think htc would see I flashed a custom rom on it if I send it to repair?

Hi,
That is why i suggest a different battery.
If they can switch it on,they will see the s-off.
If they cannot,it does not matter.

They don't use a JTAG unit or anything like that to see what has went wrong than I presume? Well, first thing I'll do is test it right away at the laboratory. I will post the result in the evening.

My sensation was rooted and had a custom ROM on, but I was preparing to send the phone back in when it got bricked. I had managed to install stock rom and do S-on but the phone had an unlocked bootloader using HTC dev website, so I was worried they wouldnt do the repair.
As it happens they did all the work under warranty and didnt say/ mention having unlocked bootloader. It has come back locked though.
Was anybody able to find a fix for this?
My sensation 4g has basically the same problem. After rooting and installing ICS it worked fine for a few days then it ceased booting or responding to a charger (no LED response). I was able to turn on the phone again by letting it sit for a while but no luck lately. I'm wondering if my phone is bricked?
When I press the power button the screen stays black with lights on (no LED).
I can't get into bootloader and the phone is not detected by ADB, I tried the unbricking project thread by Dexter, however my phone is not detected by linux. On windows, i did get it to detect as qhsusb_dload.
Any thoughts would be helpful!
Thanks

If your getting QHSUSB DLOAD I'm so sorry to tell you as I believe your device is HARD BRICKED. You can try jtag. If you search there are several companies who will jtag. I'm wishing you the best and I'm sorry about your device.

I had to return my HTC Sensation to the repair center. Apparently the motherboard just fried. I got a new motherboard and just S-OFFed the phone again. Very weird problem though. As has been said in this post earlier, if they can't turn on the device they won't see it is S-OFFed and your warranty will apply.

[Q] Sensation in QHSUSB_DLOAD mode

Hello everyone I have a HTC Sensation XE, which mounted Android jelly bean with Rom CM10 Kang Alpha, everything worked perfectly until one day the battery has reached the 2% and the phone is turned off, as there are no longer on, and connecting the power does not turn on no led, I tried to leave it attached a few hours, remove the battery for a while and I also tried it with a charged battery (my friend's) but to no avail.
Connecting it to the PC recognizes it as qhsusb_dload, (but can not find the driver)
I discovered that the qhsusb_dload mode means that the phone is a brick.
Now I wonder: is it possible that my phone is a brick just because the battery is completely discharged? or is it more likely to be a hardware problem?
In your opinion, support HTC notices that are S-OF?
When they call and ask me what I was doing with the phone, what do I tell him?
Thank you all! :good:

its because the battery drained too much (the internal power )
i may be wrong ..but thats my guess
Sometimes if battery drains to zero the battery goes into a deep sleep and this possibly is causing this. I lost battery down to zero once and no charging light or anything came on. I did not try to see what my phone was recognized at so I'm not sure about QHSUB_DLOAD but I do know it had no vital signs not even charging light! What I did was immediately put another battery in my device and it came back to life ! If you do have another battery put it in and see if this works for you. It worked for me! But like I said, I don't know if device was QHSUB_DLOAD or not because I did not test it. All I know is it had no charging light or anything! It's sure worth a try ! I wish you the best and hopefully this issue will be resolved soon.

Hello and thank you for your reply, I already tried with another identical battery and charging, but unfortunately to no avail, now I'm trying to let it charge without battery for about ten hours, hopefully good!
I doubt if its a brick, What I think is that HTC put some code into the kernel and other things that means if the phone has run completely flat then it wont boot up until at least 40% charged - This is what has happened to me and lots of others

Very strange. What were you doing before the battery died? This could be an important factor in what is
Happening. Were you flashing anything ? Or changing anything ? Were you in the middle of anything? Very strange it would do this from just the battery draining ? I've heard of this happening to others also when battery drains to zero. It kind of makes me afraid of draining my battery to zero. I do wonder what exactly causes this. You say you tried a new battery and the charging advice given in posts and still no joy. I wish I could be of more help but I'm not even sure why this would happen .I do hope you get this issue solved soon! I wish you the best.

I also can not understand what happened.
Before the phone is turned off, I was playing a game. I was not fleshad it, touching it with sensitive data.
I flashed a Rom for weeks and everything worked without any problem.
I have NEVER done any overclocking the system.
The only thing I think is that it is a hardware problem and the battery was just a coincidence.
I think I'll try with the assistance hoping to be adjusted with the warranty.
I attach the phone to a sheet where I describe what happened, what do you think I can write to you to be as convincing as possible and do not put a check in the bottom of the story?
Thank you very much! :good:

I tried this solution but when I run the script to find the phone (. / Brickdetect.sh) misses the phone and I can not go on.
Just tell the warentee people that the phone just simply died. I wouldn't go into the part about it being bricked if I were you. Then they can say you somehow caused it. Actually the less you say the better! Don't tell them its rooted, don't tell them its bricked just play ignorant and say it died and won't charge. They will replace it then. When they ask questions play as ignorant as possible ! This will work in your favor. If you go into the part about it being bricked it will raise a red flag up and likely they will blame you. Simply say it died.. ..it won't charge. .....that's it. I don't think you will have any trouble that way. And surely it will be replaced ! No worries friend. But between us how the hell does a dead battery brick a phone? Its bizarre. Now I'm going to make sure and never run my battery to zero again! It makes me worried. So strange don't you think ? Oh well I know they will replace it and all will be good. Please keep us posted on what happens OK. Best wishes to you and don't worry they should replace it without any problem.

That usb mode is for RIFF box resurection. Mode in witch u can flash bootloader, it must be done with riff jtag box! Trust me, i know what i'm talking about... For some reason, bootloader is corrupted. You can aks that in any mobile service shop that have riff.
It's a very simple to flash it again, after that you can flash stock or custom rom. After that everything will be fine again!

Also your story is strange.
If you have just bought and the guarantee I would refer back immediately demanding immediate replacement.
If not you can try with the unbricking project. With me it was not successful!

We had heard about this solution, now first try with the help hoping that me to adjust it with the warranty, if it is not rather use this method!
The phone when the battery is exhausted never gave any sign of life, it is a real damn brick.
Also your story is strange.
If you have just bought and the guarantee I would refer back immediately demanding immediate replacement.
If not you can try with the unbricking project. With me it was not successful!

Yes, this bothers me also. And its not the first time I've heard of this happening. I read somewhere that some batteries when brought down to zero or one percent have a deep sleep trigger that most chargers can't bring the battery out of and I'm wondering if that happened and effected the device somehow? Somehow bricking it? This is just a thought, I don't know for sure but it's all I can think of that could have possibly happened. Just guessing here but it's possible ? Perhaps? I can't imagine what else could have happened?? I now will try to never bring my battery down to zero. Just in case....it could be completely unrelated but it seems suspicious. Also having heard this happening before makes me wonder?? I do Hope you get your replacement soon and all goes well for you! Please do keep us posted on what happens and good luck!!

[Q] My phone is Bricked how can i fix it?

Earlier, i was just playing around on my phone then all of a sudden the phone froze. I then rebooted it and it seemed to fix it for a couple of minutes, but then it decided to freeze again. (this then continued to happen a couple more times, then finally it just stopped.)
My phone now wont turn on,it wont connect to the computer, i cant access bootloader and now i do not know what i can do.
Does anyone know what i can do to fix it? I have a nandroid back up but i cant even access boot loader / recovery so i can flash it.
Thanks.

Thanks, i am downloading ubuntu / a virtual machine now, and will try it later.
Edit - On second thoughts i don't think this will work, as it bricked with no change to the rom / data.
Try this.
It's the only way to be sure if it's bricked or not

Did the phone heat up when it froze? If yes, then leave it there. Maybe for a couple of hours.
Last time such thing happened to my device was when I OC-ed too much, then it froze and died just like yours.
Pulled out battery, walked for half an hour, put it back in, worked! (it happened a few times to know its because of CPU clock)

I have tried that unbricking method, and that doesn't work, so right now my phone is screwed.

My phone wont even turn on anymore. I literally did nothing that would have cause the device to brick.
It is starting to look like hardware failure, even though it did work for a while.
Not that this will automatically resurrect your phone, but try leaving the phone and battery in your refrigerator overnight and try again the next morning. It's worked for some people before and you've got nothing to lose.
Maybe some hardware parts are way too hot (CPU, GPU).
The sensation automatically turns off if some parts of the phone are too hot. The reason I think this is because you were playing games, and games can cause the phone to overheat. A Lot.

it wasn't really that hot when it finally turned off for good (I have felt it much hotter than that.)
And the phone has been off for a fair few hours now and it still wont turn on.
(there is also no charging light when plugged in)
There's no charging light even when you plug it in the PC? What about adb? Does your PC recognize your device? Does it say something like QHSUSB_DLOSD?
If you answered no to all those questions, then you have a hard brick and may need to replace your motherboard...

I managed to get the QHSUSB_DLOAD using this method -

Though, i don't really know where i go from there, as i cant use that htc unbricking method in earlier posts.
Why can't you use HTC sensation unbricking project? You got your phone into QHSUSB_DLOAD didn't you?

It just doesn't work for some reason.
I just get device not found when i use it.
Hmm...I don't know, I'm out of ideas. You may have to get a JTAG.

That requires me sending it to USA though, so i don't think it will be very cost effective.
I will see how much i can sell it for on ebay because i think that a JTAG is out of the question.
Hmm, Ok, I'm really sorry it couldn't work out for you...

if you managed to get the QHSUSB_DLOAD then try unbricking project again
see how it goes
I dont think i will be able to get it to work, as i have to do the wire trick to enable it.
Whereas, in this video he tells you to unplug / plug back in as you hit enter on the script, and as i have to do the wire trick, it makes this method un usable.

I assume you tried a different USB cable?
and checked the batt and ground pins.
