Bad flash. Re-flash. Fixt.
You may want to check the MD5sum of the rom you downloaded.
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM
ENSURE YOU DO THE FOLLOWING BEFORE FLASH;
-Using the volume buttons scroll down to to down to wipe data/factory reset. (unless you are upgrading, THIS STEP IS NOT OPTIONAL!)
-Press the power button to select.
-Use the volume buttons to scroll down to YES-- delete all user data, use the power button to select.
-Scroll down to Advanced press power to select.
-Scroll to Wipe Dalvik Cache press power to select.
-Go down to Yes-- Wipe Dalvik Cache use the power button to select.
-Select go back
-Go to Install zip from sdcard and select it using the power button.
-Select choose zip from sdcard.
-Scroll down and find the ROM you wish to flash press the power button to select it.
-Select Yes - Install (roms name)
Use search next time.

[Q] Froyo -> ICS how

hi,
i have vibrant t959. and its running FROYO..i downloaded ICS RC5 from nyx. I would like to know how to update to that. my phone is rooted.
Please it would be much appreciated if clear STEPS are shown..
thank you
Procedure
Gingerbread
--------------------------------------------
You will be needing rooted Gingerbread for upgrading to ICS
--------------------------------------------
Root 2.3.6 :
--------------------------------------------
You have to use Super One Click 2.3.3
Before Root enable USB Debugging in Applications>Development
Open Super One Click as Admin if on Win7/Vista. Connect Phone. Click Root
--------------------------------------------
ICS
--------------------------------------------
You will need to install Clock Work Mod from ROM Manager for the procedure
-------------------------------------------
Procedure
-------------------------------------------
1. Go to Clock Work Mod recovery using the 3 key combo : volume UP + home button + power button, keep those pressed until it goes into the Clock Work Mod recovery.
2. Using the volume buttons to navigate up and down select Wipe Data/Factory Reset by pressing the home button, hit YES. Wait for it to finish and then Wipe Cache the same way you did with Wipe Data/Factory Reset. NoW Go to advanced menu> Wipe Dalvik Cache.Go back to main menu.
3. Now it`s time to flash the ICS SGS ROM :
4. Select install zip from sd card > choose zip from sd card> browse for the zip u downloaded>choose YES and let it do the magic. If it happens to reboot immediately into Clock Work Mod recovery with a different look (blue), it means it actually flashed just the ICS Kernel first.
Note: If u dont get to Clock Work Mod then you have done it.
5. If you do get there then browse for the zip again and flash it this time it will take longer as it has to install the complete ROM
6. Now all you need to do is wait for it to finish. After the flashing is done> Wipe Data/Factory Reset, Wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache as you already know how to do it
7. Choose Reboot System Now. It takes 5-15 minutes to boot.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------Sry cant provide you wid the links

Invalid Package File (Google Market)

Hello,
I'm new to all this rooting malaki, I have installed Team EOS build of Jelly Bean and rooted my Xoom also I have installed Google Apps. Now when I try and download an application I get "Package file is invalid"
I have done a factory reset several times and still nothing, all clearing the cahce, I can't seem to clear Dalvik cahce though, I get an error "unknown volume for path [/sd-ext].
Please help,
I'm new to rooting too so I can't offer any great tech support I will say have you flashed the correct rom for your version of Xoom? It pays to add your version on here if asking a question as it saves time in everyone asking. Did you follow guide and use cwm recovery? I'm not sure if it will help but there is a fix permissions utility in recovery mode but I'm sure the very helpful clever people on here will help just add more info like Xoom version, which team eos jb rom and gapps you flashed?

Pretty sure that error is normal on certain recoveries and can be ignored. As for your problem, oldgrowler is right, we would need to know what hardware you have and what files your flashing. It's quite possible you got a bad download of the files as well so re-downloading the rom and gapps may be prudent.
Thanks for the reply's.
I'm abit confused on the definition of flashing. I keep downlaoding all the nightly builds of the Team EOS Motorola Xoom WIFI. Still nothing. What does flashing mean? I always go into CWM and install from zip.
Thanks

"install from zip" IS flashing.
Filenames of what your installing? (several of the nightly builds will cause problems, plus certain gapps packages are too big for the xoom with JB)
You probably should be using EOS-wingray-20120725-125.zip and gapps-jb-20120722-eos-signed.zip
1. Format /system (just incase something has gotten stuck.)
2. Wipe dalvik + cache
3. Flash EOS-wingray-20120725-125.zip
4. Flash gapps-jb-20120722-eos-signed.zip

Ill give that ago, I was using the wingray 22/07/12 build for both. Also I have this problem. I can't seem to clear Dalvik cahce though, I get an error "unknown volume for path [/sd-ext]. Should I install a new recovery?
Dalvik cache wipe: I told you, "Pretty sure that error is normal on certain recoveries and can be ignored."

Thanks ill try that. But I don't think my device propperly wiped everything. I booted it back p after the factory reset and it ran setup on my previous rom. Then when it ahd finished I had Play Store pre installed.
Any help?
Thanks
Am not sure which recovery you are using,
Thru adb install this, you will be fine then.

How do I remove my other recovery? Thanks allot
You don't remove, it will be overwritten.

I rechecked your post. That error is normal. Don't worry about it. Just answer this for now, can you access your external SD card from your current recovery?

Well I over-write the Clockwork mod and it didn't work, so I was going to manually fastboot and flash the img, but it's not working. it says waiting for device....
Make sure USB debugging is enabled.

Never mind, I think is mz604...

I think I can suggest you that you repeat the whole process again...
Note: please read this procedure carefully more than once until you are fully aware of it. If you have any doubts or concerns, just ask to avoid confusion before you apply. This should be followed step by step.
First, download the ROM and GAPPs and put them onto your xoom internal and external SD card. Put them under /mnt/sdcard or /storage/sdcard0 for internal sd, depending which ROM you already have now, ICS, JB, etc... , and place under the root of your external sd card.
To download:
• Get the Motorola USB drivers to your laptop: http://developer.motorola.com/docstools/USB_Drivers/
• Get the Android SDK to your laptop: http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
• Recovery Image: http://goo.im/devs/teameos/recoveries/wingray/eos-recovery-r6.img
• GAPPS: http://goo.im/devs/teameos/roms/eos3/gapps/gapps-jb-20120726-eos-signed.zip
• ROM: http://goo.im/devs/teameos/roms/eos3/nightlies/wingray/EOS-wingray-20120725-126.zip
Steps:
1. Power off your XOOM device.
2. Press and hold the volume down button while pressing the power button at the same time. Note: Even if your xoom starts again, just keep the button pressed until you see "Starting fastboot protocol" on the screen.
3. Connect Xoom to your computer via USB.
4. Open a ‘Command Prompt’ or ‘Terminal’ window on your computer in your sdk/tools folder. This is the sdk you downloaded above.
5. Unlock your xoom and flash the recovery image. The recovery image should be in your current working directory where you have command line navigated to:
Type:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot oem unlock
fastboot flash recovery eos-recovery-r6.img
fastboot reboot
adb reboot recovery
Now, you have your device unlocked and recovery installed.
Reboot your xoom by selecting the option "reboot system now" from recovery. you can navigate up and down using the volume buttons. Once an option is highlighted, press the power button to select, you will still have your old ROM.
To flash the other ROM downloaded above,
1. Boot into recovery by:
i. As soon as you hit the reboot command above, you should see a Motorola logo appear. Wait 3 seconds and tap the Volume down button and the words Android Recovery should appear on the screen. When you see that, tap the Volume up button and you’ll boot into recovery.
2. From within Recovery, perform wipe data, wipe cache, and go to advanced, wipe dalvik cache and battery stats. Don't worry, if the ROM and GAPPs are deleted, which should not be the case, you will have them on your external sd card
Note: wipe data will delete your stuff on the xoom. It would be great if you backup your files that you need to your external sd card before you start any of this procedure.
3. In recovery, navigate to install zip from sdcard > choose zip from sd card and select the EOS ROM you copied to the root of the SD card. Once the files are flashed, DO NOT reboot afterwards. Hold on.
4. Again, from Recovery, choose install zip from sdcard > choose zip from sd card and select the GAPPs you copied to the root of the SD card.
Then hit reboot system now. It will take 2 - 3 minutes for the first reboot. Setup your google account. and you are good to go.
Later reboots will be much faster (around 40 - 50 seconds).
Hope this helps you...

[Q] help installing roms ?

i wanted to see if anyone can list the proper steps to install roms on the g2x as ive tried multiple roms and there is always something that wont work( text messaging etc) i figure its because im installing them incorrectly
Use NVflash to install CWM (NOT ROM Manager)
Put the ROM you want on your SD card
Boot into Recovery (Vol down + power button; hold then until second LG logo appears)
Wipe data (factory reset)
Wipe cache
Wipe Dalvik (under advanced options)
Format system and emmc (this is optional, I do it so I can ensure I'm getting a clean install)
Install your ROM
*Fix Permissions* (some ROMs you don't need to do this-check the instructions on the ROM's thread)
Reboot
Wait about ten minutes after it turns on to do anything (also optional)
Enjoy

rtotheichie I ended following all the listed steps you gave me exempt(fix permissions had no idea how to do it) but had the same issue i had last time which is everything works but i can only send text messages but cant receive any. I know it has to do with the rom install as when i restore a phone to previous back up and all text messages i was sent during the time the custom rom was running all are received instantly. I dont know what else to try ive seen people mentioning stuff about updating the baseban or kernel i honestly dont know what those are for but do you think that might be my issue as my g2x is running the lg's last gingerbread update(completely stock)

Probably I can help you:
1. Go to recovery
2. Plug your phone to your PC (USB)
3. I am using TWRP 2.6.3.0, for me on the homescreen I have a "Mount" button, click it, and press mount usb storage.
4. After a while you will see your phone internal memory plugged in as an USB disk.
5. Download any ROM you want, make sure that you are downloading ROM for your device (There is 2 types of HTC One S, Ville and VilleC2)
Perform a factory reset in recovery
6. Flash the ROM (press install and select the ZIP file) (Do not reboot! Stay in recovery)
7. On your PC create a folder called "fastboot" on C drive
8. Download the file from the attachment, and extract the 4 files from it to the folder which you created before
9. Still on your PC... open the ROM (ZIP file), and you probably have a boot.img file in it.
10. Extract the boot.img to "fastboot" folder
11. On your phone now... In recovery select "Reboot" and select Bootloader
12. Your phone will now reboot to bootloader, you will probably see FASTBOOT USB
13. open cmd
14. In cmd write this:
Code:
cd/
cd fastboot
fastboot flash boot boot.img
After it says "Completed!" write:
fastboot reboot
15. Your phone will reboot and probably it will work
PS: Sorry for my bad english
EDIT: Hope you have already updated your phone to Jelly Bean....
Because if you was still on Ice Cream Sandwich then JellyBean ROMs will probably not work
