Hi,
I have the Acer Iconia Tab A511 and the USB connection is not working!
It's configured as MTP on the tab and the latest drivers from Acer are installed on the PC. I connect the tab to the PC and hear the typical windows sound when you connect a new device. Few seconds later, I see my tab as new drive. So when I click on it, the drive is empty! There is nothing on it and I can't move or copy anything.
What is going wrong? I tried two USB cables, none of them worked. Or is the USB connection just working with an external SD Card in the tab?
Any help would be appreciated!

When I plug my usb cord into my Infuse and into my desktop, the desktop doesnt see the Infuse. I have the usb settings set to use the Infuse as a mass storage device, but nothing. If I put any other device or card in one of my slots, the computer instantly see's the device and reads it.. help

Try going to samsung, i had to install this driver file then i could access my files on the phone and sd card. http://www.samsung.com/us/support/downloads/SGH-I997ZKAATT

If you are running windows 7 and all else fails, open device manager and find the samsung or unknown device and try to uninstall all samsung drivers, be sure when the computer asks if you want to uninstall the files too to select "yes/ok". After doing that reboot the computer let it settle down til the hard drive lite indicator on computer does not blink.
After that securly plug the usb cable into the phone and into the computer
wait 15-30 seconds more or less and if you are running windows 7 and are connected to internet then windows will automatically install fresh drivers into your computer and most likely your problem will be solved..
If this solves the problem it means that your samsung drivers for some reason got corrupted.
Also just because your computer reconizes "other cards" that does not mean that it will reconize your samsung phone.. The samsung fone requires specific drivers to be install for it to reconize your phone.
For sdcards, flash drives, external hard drives windows only uses its generic usb drivers, thats why your computer reconizes the usb cards properly now even though it does not reconize your phone.

I just plug usb end in to my pc running windows 7 and it auto detects, if that is what your asking! You might have to get the usb drivers from samsung site or google it.

When I plug my tab it, I get a "Connected as a Media Device" (or something along those lines) and my computer will automatically open/view the files on my tablet. If this doesn't happen, you can download Kies (software from Samsung to help install drivers and sync media) and that might help you.

USB mass storage mode is being phased out, if your in windows this is not a problem as the default "media transfer protocol" will work just the same for transferring files (albeit only one transfer at a time)but if you really must have USB mass storage, google is your friend.

If you are asking for USB storage in tab then you should download nexus media importer from web.....
Your USB drive also should be on Fat32 format. Or tab will not know that USB drive is connected....
I know MTP is working, but my question concern the UMS (USB mass storage) protocol. After searching long time on internet, apparently, UMS will never work on tab under stock rom. Thanks but no solution.
please help, I can not connect my phone to pc as usb mass storage (also with LG pc suite). when I connect usb cable and select turn on usb mass storage my pc is doing nothing, no driver installation, no do what? message and nothing new mounted in "my computer" ... knows anyone what do I have to do? please help ... I m also having this problem it seems that phones usb port is damaged or some problem with cable
Try to connet usb mass storage into recovery so might get to know that it is a software or hardware problem

Hi !
Do you have the MTP drivers correctly installed for your device ?
Connect your device to a PC using the USB cable.
The device will automatically pop up as a USB computer connection. Tap Open the USB storage device.
If the USB computer connection does not pop up automatically, drag the Notification bar downward.
Choose the connected USB device and open USB storage. You will not be able to access the SD card in your device while the device is connected as USB storage. Set the SD card as USB mass storage to copy files between a PC and the SD card.

Try changing the USB settings. Make it to M2P (media transfer protocol). It will then allow you to file share with your PC. Also if you deleted some pictures on your tablet, was it being backed up by google? If so you can recover it there.

It is already on MTP, but the internal memory cannot be recognized like a storage media and no, they were not backed up by google.

If the photos are from internal storage...
Try installing the driver from the official site. And check the cable/PC that might cause the problem, I am not quite sure though.

I checked the cable, it is OK!
I installed the diskdigger, is not going to do a full scan because the device can not be Rooting!
I installed the Lenovo MOTO Smart Assistant but the internal memory cannot be recognized like a storage media!
Is still recognizes the internal memory like a YOGA TABLET 10 HD+ (Linux File-Stor Gadget USB Device) CD-ROM drive!
