Hi there,
I have flashed CM10, I have backed up my original gb ROM, but before flashing CM10 forgot to backup CM9, so is it possible to restore gb direct from CM10 or I should flash ÇM9?

You mean a nandroid backup? If I recall correctly, nandroid backups between GB and CM10 are not compatible (because of the different partition layout). So you should first flash a GB ROM with the same CWM you used to do the backup and then restore from there.
PS: I found this out there:
Nandroid backups of CM7 (Gingerbread), CM9 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and CM10 (Jelly Bean) are incompatible with each other. Before you restore from a nandroid backup, make sure you’re running the correct version of Android.

AFAIK, there is no other way except flashing stock rom by ODIN. I've tried to restore gb from cwm, result - soft-bricked phone.
Also i think this thread should be in a different part of i9000 forum, maybe Q&A, am i right?

Correct.
CM10 has a completely different partition structure to Samsung ROMs.
To downgrade, you need to use Odin/Heimdall
Just Odin -> 2.3.5 -> Root -> Nandroid. Winner
simply use odin
what about flashing stock gb rom in cwm ?
Sent from my GT-I9001 using xda premium
Just flash a stock rom (ex. JW5) in Odin and root it. I do not think you can flash a GB rom from CWM if you're on CM10 because of the partition change.

No-one has asked the obvious question!
Why oh why would you want to go back to GB?

Yep, just use Odin to go back to Gingerbread... Then once you've done that flash in dbdata.rfs because if you don't you'll end up with a bootloop (like the others said, different data partitions).
I flashed a gb rom.in recovery while im on aokp cm10 and all works fine no odin needed
Sent from my GT-I9001 using xda premium
you need to use odin. just google it.
Actually i write this words on my device i flashed aokp jelly bean and than i flashed gingerbread and restore my backup all works fine

Firstly, I would like to apologize if this information is elsewhere but I just wanted to get confirmation for this all in one place.
1) If I upgrade to the leaked ICS ROM will I retain root privileges.
2) If I do not retain root privileges can I re root my phone (I had this issue with the HTC aria upgrade to froyo because of the locked bootloader)
3) Is this ROM stable (or at least relatively so)
1) yes
2) doesn't apply becuz of 1
3) yes, i recommend superlite 5.1 or team perfection.
Correction: if you upgrade through Odin, you lose everything on your internal sdcard AND ROOT.

If you use the Odin leak (not very stable) use super one click or Odin cwm then flash superuser to get root.
Or do the easy way and flash one of the custom rooms that all are already rooted for you and have fixes.

correction correction. As long as he flashes one of the roms i suggested, I highly recommend superlite, he won't lose either. Plus the oneclick is unstable and buggy

So the leaked official one is not very stable correct? If I were to flash one of the custom ones would it have touchwiz and all the other official stuff

u want all the touchwiz stuff? Use superlite by mhx or stock revamped by team perfection. Im not a fan of touchwiz, and if: aren't either any other ics rom will do, in which case i recommend ics - the real thing by seanscreamz.
This entire thread could of been avoided, by just reading the Odin ics and root thread in the rom section. Close this thread

Can anybody hit me up with the best roms that'll work with my Rogers version? Thanks
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using xda app-developers app
every roms which are working on AT&T infuse will work on Rogers infuse (I'm using a rogers one as well)
for GB I recommend Rogers stock 2.3.3 or MIUI galnet
for ICS I strongly recommend Paranoid !
Okay excellent, thank you
if my infuse came stock with GB, will and ICS rom work on it?

Yes, it will. The advantage of us having the Rogers version of the Infuse is that we have Gingerbread bootloaders. This means that if we ever want to flash ICS, we are not bound to get "rainbow" recoveries.
As for flashing ICS, please read a lot before you flash. It is best to know every single thing to avoid problems.
If you need any help, you can PM me.
Good luck!

Yes, any ics ROM would work just fine on the Rogers' phone (I am another Rogers user on custom ROM - Remics 1.3). Make sure you have a good backup and a working recovery firmware (Get CWM ROM Manager from Play store and flash ClockworkMod Recovery) before flashing. Recovery firmware is key for flashing - both for successful flashing as well as recovering from a failed one.
Good luck!

I never trust Rom manager...its been known to cause bricks for some...
You can also get recovery from the second post here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1524081
If you plan on flashing ics you will have to double flash though...

+1. ...and sometimes restoring a backup that was made using rom manager does not work. The only thing I use rom manager for now is to rename my backup (give it a "name" versus a "date")
Ah okay, I got the clockwork mod recovery with Odin so am I good if I wanna flash an ics? And what's meant by double flash?

Okay. Here follow these instructions very well.
- Go to CWM recovery
- Go to backups and restore
- Backup current ROM (should take around 5 minutes)
- Download ICS ROM of your liking
- Put it on your phone (internal SD NOT external)
- Go back to CWM
- Wipe data
- Wipe cache
- Go to advanced, and then wipe dalvik cache there
- Flash the ROM
- Reboot
- It will be stuck at Samsung Logo with Cyanogenmod logo as well... I advise you to wait 30 seconds and THEN pull-out battery
- Put battery back on
- Reboot phone
- Go to Mounts and Storage
- Wipe system, data, and cache
- Flash the exact same ROM you flashed earlier
- Reboot
- SUCCESS!
Now, you might encounter APN Settings (data not working) problems.. I advise you to find the APN settings here on XDA (I'm on Virgin Mobile Canada so I cannot provide these.)
ALSO, if you run into problems with Google apps (I assumed you downloaded a ROM that already has them), download the "gapps" file. Link should be found on the OP of the ROM post you downloaded.
Have fun!

Is it possible to flash from jellybean back to ice cream sandwich?
Say if I flash from a jellybean miui to cwm10 then cwm9 then miui ICS does anyone know if it will take or are the system structure too different?
Or just flash to ICS miui, just format system, caches and remount then flash, ICS miui
Or the only answer is to Odin to gingerbread and work my way up, again?

More specifically you have to use an external program like heimdall or Odin to repartition your device.
There is a link in the OP of cm10 for a Odin method with PIT (partition file)

Yes, I have done this. ( not with odin, only used CWM )
What I have found is from ICS you have to flash a GB rom, as in a new, fresh flash. Then if you have a backup of that rom you can successfully restore it thru CWM.

Assuming your cwm is up to date just wipe cache and system then flash. But ALWAYS remember to make a backup first.
On a side note, ever use twrp?

Ummm, its a little more complicated than Flashing.Lol
You are reverting system files and such. Grab you a STOCK image from Sammobile than flash in Odin following the steps outlined in konanes thread in the dev section. Don't ever flash backwards between versions of android in cwm, you'll soft brick your phone. Bad advice ^^^^dude

I flashed with CM last January by following this tutorial 'http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/general/rom-cyanogenmod-10-2-official-nightly-t2382579'
If i restore my phone it'll go to cyanogenmod or to my old stock ROM? All of my apps will go? And my battery is getting drained a lot and I guess its due to candy crush?? Sorry for being noob!

Did you take a backup of the stock ROM ? Then you probably can restore it to stock. Otherwise you will have flash via Odin or something. And yes if you flash stock rom you will lose all your app data but you can save apps then reinstall after reverting back to stock
