Hello, Xda-Developers forum
I am new here, but here goes..
Alright, I hate asking about this phone here, but I have the Samsung Focus (1.3), bought it from a friend for $12, So it was a pretty well investment on my part, BUT I'm into messing around with things, and I've recently installed Magldr (2.00) and flashed the Windows 7.8 Phone OS to it, BUT I had a very notorious question about it.
Question # 1)
Is it possible to find a rom, or even make a rom to put Android on this Phone?
Any Android version is fine with me as well. I just want to see what all I can do if I wanted with this phone.
Question # 2)
I can't seem to find very many roms just by googling them for this phone. Does anyone know anywhere I should actually look?
Regards,
Lemonboi5
I found this.. don't know much about WP7 and hacking, had a focus myself at one point but didn't do much with it before I sold it to a friend

Thanks gagdude,
I've seen that page before, but I was wondering if anything has been done with it since haha. I would love to see android on this phone, As the specs would fully back it xD
Hmmm... also found this

Why?
Why? Why? Why?!!!
If you want Windows Mobile with a 4.3" screen get the HTC HD2 or the HD7.
Why not?
As far as i know none of those phones support AT&T 3G or even less 4G. Would be pretty awesome.
I have an HD2 that can run 6.5, 7, or Android it is a Telstra version so it gets ATT 3g in many areas just Google ATT 3g 850 map and see if you're in their area. If you're interested I'm selling it.

To prove it can be done

Ya I would spend hours doing something just to prove it could be done

i'm rather curious about the possibilities as well coz the phone is sweet on it's own (despite the fact it has to run Android out of the box) and the 3G/4G incentive would be a fantastic Windows-based alternative for this configuration/design... just sayin' ('',)
While I can respect the desire to try something completely silly like this just to see if it can be done, you should expect that you may, and very probably will, brick your phone. Unlike Android, the code for Windows is not just out there. Putting Windows on a device it isn't certified for will likely fail because you won't have a proper set of drivers for the device. But I have tried silly things like this in the past with Linux putting it on devices it wasn't intended for with some success and the fun is sometimes all that matters.
I can't think of a single compelling reason I would want windows mobile on any phone I ever get unless they suddenly come up with a good blend of business and enthusiast features with WM7 doesn't seem to offer, but to each their own.
If you're interested, this might be fun. Not a rom, and not the same. But interesting.
Hmph. It's called Launcher7. I'd link you to it, but the forums don't want me to. It's in the Market.
I am interested... how much is your telstra phone?
Why is this silly? It's all part of the hacking/modding experience.

I installed Launcher 7 on my Inspire. It's surprisingly pretty decent. It's free, so there's no risk involved.
if the iPhone can run iOS and android with a loader on boot, why would it be so hard to make it for an inspire? way more open then ios development.
I want this too as did a bunch of nexus one users, there's already a thread about it over there. But the answer is no, it isn't gonna happen as there are no drivers, windows phone is closed and can't get ported.
Anyway to get android in these phones?

Why not just buy an Android phone? Plus the new ones have better hardware than the WP7 phones. That's an odd request.
The straight answer to your question is you can't do it.
Answer: no
Take your Windows Phone 7, put it up for sale...
Get a Android phone and go to the Android fourms.
If there was a way to dual boot with Android, I'm sure by a simple search you would find it. Assuming that you didn't do that (there was a post about this subject just yesterday)
That sucks. Why is it the hd2 can, yet wp7 cant? I understand there on different operating systems, but developers cant make a duel booting device like the hd2?
Wasnt the hd7 tinkered with to run android awhile back?
Sorry i dont browse this section of XDA.

The HD2 was a winmo 6.5 device, the hacking community already had years of experience with that OS. WP7 isn't a year old yet, that's pretty easy to understand.
Like DavidinCT says, sell your phone, buy Android and use their forums.

The HD2 was based on a completely different Windows Mobile 6.5. WP7 is still yet to receive a HSPL bootloader that allow custom roms to be installed or a MAGLDR-like system for dualboot, while HSPL for Windows Mobile was achieved long ago. The HD7 android is still in a pre-alpha stage and the average modder on XDA would probably brick his device trying to flash it. Seriously, if a dual boot was released, it would be all over these forums. I know it may be hard, but next time, scroll up, find the white textbox with a large yellow magnifying glass, type in Android on WP7, and watch the magic happen.
Back then, when hd2 just came out...there werent really that much smartphones with 4.3in screens and 1ghz android phones...so there was a lot of interest on developing android for the hd2...but you got plenty of android phone now with that kind of hardware and better...like everyone else said...sell the winmo phone and buy an android phone...

Hey All,
Ive done a quick search on this topic, but nothing jumped out at me, so ill just ask, sorry if it has been covered before.
Would it be possible to get wp7 on the sensation? preferably in some dual boot form?
The reason i ask is because i just ordered a sensation, but am also interested in wp7, and on my last htc (hd2) these kinds of things were possible, so im guessing it should be possible here aswell, right?
Lets discuss? and thanks in advance for whatever the outcome I <3 xda!
I doubt it will happen any time soon . Wp7 isn't open source and its possible on the hd2 because of the almost identical hardware.

k then
any other replys?
You could download launcher 7, i think it's called. It is a launcher that is like windows 7. It is free and you can customize it like you want. You can get amazing icons from this forum.
I've looked on other threads and have seen that some phones have three diffrent topics, winmo6.5 , win7, and android development threads my question is there a way to make a win 7 Rom for the inspire?

No...and why would you want that? Lol
I've seen some win 7 themes but that's about it.
I got your 10 char right here

You're more than welcome to give it a shot. But the point you are missing is that windows phone is inferior to android. The Devs already know what windows phone is all about. That is why they did not waste their time to port it. Not to mention it is not open source. Porting it violates copyright infringements. If you really want to explore that OS then go buy one and you will soon return to android.

first if its a copyright infringement how do they have the right to port it at all, even if a device comes with it any modifications to their coding would fall as an infringment i think, and they have ported it for phones like the htc tilt2 witch comes stock with winmo6.1 i think but theres a thread for windows 7 over there, the question is can it be done weather or not i go back to android has no matter to the question i asked.

No it cant be done. The reason it was dont on the phons you mentioned is due to being WM phones to start with. Android running on them is a hack to run off a partition setup.
Technically I don't think they had the right to port it on the older windows mobile phones like the tilt2 or the HD2. Windows mobile and windows phone are 2 totally separate operating systems. I am no expert on this though. But it was the excitement of the moment back then and on those forums it was allowed.
Please understand that XDA operates in alot of grey areas. Microsoft knows what is done here and if asked we will pull anything as we have done before when they have asked.
Here is a question that came up with a couple of friends and me. What is the possibility of getting one of the new Nokia WP8 devices to rum Android? I know there is no way that it would be as easy as flashing a ROM but I'm sure the master minds here at XDA somewhere have had the same idea.

WP is an OS, and your device's hardware configuration was done in accordance with this fact that it's gonna use it. A whole new OS, Android, won't run on it because of that.
