Internet over bluetooth reboot tablet - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
When I decided to buy my TF300T one of the most import point was I could use internet over bluetooth since this version doesn't have 3G.
When I was on ICS I used to connect without any kind of problem .. just pair and use, simple like that.
But since I upgrade to Jelly Bean everytime I try to pair my Tablet to my cell phone the tablet abruptly reboot.
I tried everything I could think of to solve the issue:
- I did the new update to V10.4.2.13 of JB
- I removed the profile and added a new one
- I tried with another cellphone (mine is a Nokia Symbian, tried and galaxy II, same error)
- Wipe system/data
- Disabled wifi .. development mode .. usb debugging ..
- Formated my cellphone
My cellphone does allow internet over bluetooth as I was used to connect thru it everyday. I still tested on my friend's tablet (still in ICS) and it worked fine. The problem started when I upgraded from ICS to JB on my TF300T.
Does anyone have any idea what to do to get it solved?
Thank you in advance.

Bluetooth issue?

Good afternoon,
First thank you all for all your hard work. I have been lurking here for about a week and i have found many useful threads and apps. I have a gtab (guess that is obvious) that is currently running Vegan-B3(tried TnT 2.2.1 and TnT 2.4 as well) and im trying to pair it with my droid INC (rooted but OTA still installed) so that i can connect the GPS to the Gtab. I have read all i can find but still im getting stuck. The two will pair but not connect(i can connect to my pc and send audio so i assume the BT module is fucntioning fine)..... Tether is fine (i can browse the web using the verizon hotspot app and share gps is installed on the phone). So that is issue one. Issue 2 is i can not find the bluetooth gps app in the market on the tablet (i have tried the fix many times(as well as the "new fix") but it never comes up) im also having an issue finding the app so tht i can sideload it (googoo android doesnt seem to have a website).
thanks for your time and advice.
Resolved
I solved this issue. Blue tooth doesnt show "connected" but works just fine. I wasnt able to fix the market place but i did find another app that worked (i was so focused on following the dirs before that it didnt really occur to me to look for another app until late last night). http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833094
1. connected to the phone hotspot (gtab)
2. turn on GPS share (INC)
3. turn on BlueGPS4Droid (gtab)
4. tested it on a route i know well
Seemed to work just fine

[Q] HTC Desire Bluetooth paired but not connected

Hi all,
Recently I got a problem with my HTC Desire.
I can search and pair with other Bluetooth devices (laptop, other cell phones, etc.) but I cannot connect with them (I use to connect before - but now I can't).
I've already tried "Hard Reset", installed Bluetooth file transfer, remove and add the devices.
However, nothing seems to help.
Does anyone have an idea?
Help please!!!
(and thanks in advance)
Do you think factory reset would make it work again?

damn bad problem mate
Problem solved
Hi,
Just to update:
I installed ADW Launcher and noticed that some applications I used to have and disappeared - appeared again (I thought it had something to do with the hard reset I did).
Anyway, I figured I might try to connect via Bluetooth again and it started to work!!!
Something in the HTC sense launcher (or the ROM I had - which came from the shop...) caused this problem...
Hope this could help others.

[Q] ICS from WM6.5 to Android

Hi
I own a HTC Snap phone, running WM6.5 and without a touch screen, which seems to be a lethal combination (for example, the XDA facebook app will not work on my phone).
When using a windows XP laptop I simply connect the phone via USB and use it as a modem, but I assume this won't work on the Android tablet.
So I'm trying to find a way to share my 3G connection to my Android 3.2 tablet.
The default ICS app is useless - the tablet doesn't see the phone either when sharing through WIFI (I understand Android will not recognize ad-hoc wifi connections) or when using BT.
I tried installing the trial of wmwifirouter with the same results.
I tried the XDA ICS app (I think it was a port of the HTC app) and couldn't get it to run, probably because it was expecting a touch screen input.
Is there any way to solve my dilema without replacing my phone?
Thanks
There used to be an app for WM called wifi hotspot. If you could install it on your phone, the tablet would connect to it via wi-fi.

I'm 90% sure that's the one I tried that didn't work because my phone has a keyboard and no touch, but I'll try it again.
Yep, it's not working on the HTC snap.

[Q] Bluetooth blues. (JB and ICS, file transfer, tethering.)

I have a Dell XPS17(laptop), Nokia N900 (phone) and a TF700 (tablet).
I am trying to get Bluetooth anything working on the TF700 with my other devices.
I am running Fedora 17 on the XPS17.
I am running JB on the TF700. Its never been rooted or flashed.
I can browse and file transfer to the N900 from the XPS17. No problems. I can access the N900s 3G data connection from the XPS17, no problem. It works well.
Nothing Bluetooth works with the TF700. It seems to pair to both devices just fine, but that is where it stops.
I want to do the following
- send files to the TF700 from the XPS.
This doesn't work, even though Fedora shows its an available bluetooth service. Fedora attempts the send, but nothing seems to arrive on the TF700.
- browse files on the TF700 from the XPS.
Fedora does not show this is an available service.
- access the N900s 3G data connection from the TF700.
In the settings menu, when I click on the N900 paired device settings, it shows a checkbox for "Use for Internet Access". When I enable that it starts Connecting... and takes forever. Eventually it returns.
When I bring up the pop up small settings menu, it displays the Bluetooth icon in the area where it displays the network connection, but says "No Internet connection". In spite of that, it seems as though I can download a web page or two in Firefox and then the connection dies.
I have no Bluetooth tether "client" software installed on the TF700.
I experienced the same behavior in ICS. I was hoping the JB upgrade would address these issues.
Any ideas on fixing this situation ?
Thanks
i used to be able to send/receive files to/from my galaxy nexus and pc. But since JB, the share option to bluetooth is not available.
bluetooth file transfer from play.
my bluetooth pairing is nightmare.... each time i pair to n900 my tf700t JB4.1.1 gets a reboot.... no problem with ICS... is there a BT driver issue with JB? i saw many other threads with JB BT issues... currently relying on Joikuspot to tether my n900 to tf700t.. gosh this is sick... overall is a good update...

I'm using Mobile Hotspot. Works really well after some tweaking. Amazing to do this on the N900, straight forward, with no hiccups whereas on an iPhone 4 you have to inform the carrier, extra charge and/or jailbreak it.

I installed it. I had it installed previously (ICS) and removed it because it didn't work. Now (JB update) I can send files from the TF700 to my Linux box. Yippee.
But... I want to do TF700 file management from the Linux box (XPS17), not from the TF700 itself.a
I can do this with my N900. On my Linux box, I browse the N900 file system as a mounted device in Dolphin and remotely move, upload/download, delete files on the N900 at will. Its really slick.
It appears as though the Bluetooth File Manager uses (provides ?) OPP and FTP Bluetooth profiles when its running. And yet the available TF700 profiles don't change on my Linux box.
Any ideas on making this work ?
Why isn't JB making various Bluetooth profiles available automatically ? Is there a way to make it, like install an obex server and run it as a service ?
Its ironic that all this stuff "just works" on my 2 year old N900 with the lowly Maemo 5 OS, and it seems so difficult on Android. Caveat, I'm an Android newbie.

Hmmm....
Did you follow the instructions here ?
http://myn900.wordpress.com/2010/08/23/tethering-the-n900-part-3-bluetooth/
What kernel are you running on your N900 ?
What settings are you using on your TF700 ?
More troubleshooting and testing.
I connected my N900 to my Linux box via Bluetooth. In Dolphin it says its using obexftp when browsing the N900 file structure.
I installed Bluetooth File Transfer on my TF700. In BFT, I enabled starting OPP and FTP at boot. I rebooted. I checked in Dolphin and still no browsing option is available in Dolphin. I started BFT. It then told me that it was starting ObexFTP. I check Dolphin and still no browsing option is available in Dolphin. I re paired the TF700 to the Linux box. Still nothing in Dolphin.
Why isn't Dolphin seeing an ObexFTP profile from my TF700 ?
I found one difference between the N900 and the TF700.
$ ps aux | grep obex returns obexd on the N900.
There is no friggin grep on the TF700 !
$ps aux on the TF700 finds it.medevial.blueftp on the TF700. No obexd ! Therein lies the difference.
Has anyone fooled with installing obexd on Android ?
And how do it get grep on this thing ?
Sorry if these are newbie questions.
I did a small search and saw the ability to install obexd (and other libraries) from maemo.org to make BT more functional on devices like the N9000.
Would be nice if we could find something similar like that for Android....

I'm going to put obexd on myself. Stay tuned.
Awesome - when you get it figured out, keep us posted!
I will.
I started digging into it. Seems there is a lot missing on Android compared to a regular Linux machine. Looks like I am going to need Busybox and do a bunch of NDK building. No biggie, just more than I thought it would be.
I'm not too happy with some of the ssh packages that are out there either.
Stay tuned.
Hi!
Did you manage to solve your issues?
I am also owner of n900+tf700 and I am heavily frustrated with this tethering reboots.
I am either using a 3g modem or Mobile Hotspot, but both these workarounds have limitations - modem is another device to have with me and Hotspot app drains battery in a matter of couple of hours.

Smart Connect is not functioning properly on THL W3 Android 4.0.4

Hi,
I bought the SmartWatch 2 (SW2) and it arrived a week ago.
I have a THL w3 device, with Android 4.0.4 on it(built in; not a custom rom) and rooted.
When it first arrived about a week ago, I tried to connect it again and again and the SW kept displaying the SW->Smart Connect screen. the Smart Connect didn't show that popup window with a link to install the SmartWatch2 app, and even when I installed in manually there was no "edit settings" row in the Smart Connect app.
I tried to connect it to my friend's Motorola Atrix (Jelly Bean, not sure which one) and it worked, and then when I tried again on my phone it seemed to work. I was able to install some applications and even though whenever I turned the SW off and on or the Bluetooth off and on I had to unpair and pair the SW in order to connect it, not to mention that 90% of the times when I paired them there was no pairing request, the phone said it's paired, the SW got stuck on the screen "SW V phone"(connected) but they weren't actually connected.
A few days later, yesterday, I noticed that what i just described only happends when the phone is completely on and ready to use, because if I rebooted my phone and then when it turned on I emiddiatly paired them, it worked and there was a pairing request and everything. but only if I paired them before all the apps were ready, which meant that there was an app that caused the pairing to fail when that app is ready.
I used "Disable Manager"(from the Play store) to disable the Smart Connect app and then I was ablt to pair the phone and the SW properly, only now because the Smart Connect app is disabled I can't use the watch...
I hope I described what happened even though English is not my strongest language...
Summury:
My phone is not fully compatible ith the SW, and the fault is Smart Connect's.
The Motorola Atrix works perfectly with the watch. Is it because of the android version?
If you have any ideas please let me know.

Having trouble understanding, but if the problem is your device's stock rom you could look into trying a custom AOSP rom. Might aswell get something more recent than icecream sandwich. Get on kitkat. Get cyanogenmod 11 and use Gravity box with xposed modules.
Are there any custom mods for my device?
The problem is I couldn't find any custom roms for THL W3. it's not a popular device, and even though I really want a newer version(at least Jelly Bean...) I searched a bit and I didn't find anything.
Is cyanogenmod compatible with every phone? Are you sure that's the problem?
