Hey, I know there is a way to make a list of frozen applications in titanium backup, so that when you restore all your apps after a Reset/Rom, you can have titaniumbackup freeze those applications again.
http://www.titaniumtrack.com/kb/tit...al-faq.html#save-a-list-of-apps-for-later-use
However, the instructions seem to be for an older version of titanium backup. I cant seem to figure out how to do this with the current titanium backup release. Has anybody got any tips or advice ?
Ive waited quite some time for this bump. Nobody ? : (
What part of the tutorial do you have difficulty with? Filtering? Instead of pressing menu now you press the upper right checkmark.
Then the rest is pretty similar.
Edit: Oh and you would have had more chance not being in a Nexus S subforum, since this has nothing to do with the Nexus S per se.

What subforum would you suggest ? Possibly the general android Q&A subforum ?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1236
Or would the software and hacking subforum be more appropriate ?

The issue I have is, for me to get to the filter list, I need to go to the "backup/restore" tab on titanium backup, and then click the header that says "click to edit filters".
Upon clicking that, I can select ""Frozen" to show only my frozen apps. The issue I Have is with the next step :
Create a label containing frozen apps: Now hit MENU -> Filters -> Create label -> Add/remove elements -> Select shown elements -> OK
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
Hitting MENU does nothing, However, there is an option to create a label :
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
So, then, following the instructions, I click the Add/remove elements Button
Then, upon coming to this screen, I click "select shown elements" ..
So then, I change the name, and save the label:
However, what I dont get is, if I were to wipe out my phone, and re-install all the apps with titanium backup, where would the label go ? Is there any way to copy the labels to another phone ?
Assuming all goes well, and I wipe my phone and restore it, I assume the procedure be:
1 - load the label on titanium backup
2 - The app list would load all the apps, but they would be defrosted
3 - Click the tick in the top right
4 - Select "freeze all system and user apps"
And then it should only freeze the apps on the list. Are my assumptions correct ?
EDIT : Assuming this is correct, should I forward this thread to the titanium track guys, and suggest them updating their instructions ?

Hi all,
I've had a Qtek2020i (XDA2i) with Windows Mobile 2003SE for a couple of weeks now and I've noticed a few rather annoying features that I can't seem to get rid of. I've searched this forum for something related but haven't found anything.
The start menu appears to be split into three sections like so:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Q1./
How do I remove "Today" from the 1st Section please?
I've been to Start > Settings > Menus, and today isn't available in the list to uncheck!
Q2./
Is there a way to prevent recently used programs from being added to the 2nd Section of the start menu? I find this very annoying as the menu keeps getting cluttered by shortcuts that I don't want there. I don't want a full length start menu, only say... 8 or 9 shortcuts.
I've found the only way to remove the shortcuts from the 2nd Section is to go to Start > Settings > Menus, and select the names of the shortcuts present in the 2nd section. This then moves those shortcuts up into the 1st Section.
I then go back to Start > Settings > Menus, and deselect the names of the moved shortcuts. The shortcuts are then gone completely ONLY until the next time I use those programs Then they reappear!
Q3./
Just a small query. What's the "Turn on New Button Menu" option for in Start > Settings > Menus > New Menu ? Even if this option is unticked, the new menu is still there. If I DO have this option ticked, the new menu is accompanied by a little arrow which does exactly the same thing?!
Can't see the point for having this option.
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.
I hate this, too.
Unfortunately, there is no known way to remove or clear the Recent Programs Used section on demand; however, it can be done at bootup time so that when you first launch the Start Menu, it will be empty.
I use a MortScript file in the \Windows\StartUp folder to clear out the registry entries at every boot.
Code:
ErrorLevel off
Delete \Chronos*.txt
Delete \Program Files\phoneAlarm\*.log
Delete \WorldMatePro.txt
RegDeleteKey HKCU,Software\Microsoft\Shell\TaskSwitch,1,1
The last line is the one that actually does it.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Shell\TaskSwitch contains the most recently used Start Menu items.
The "turn on new menu" adds the arrow as you said yourself.
Now what this arrow does compared to when not being there is for example
when you're in messages; If you press the new button it opens a new message.
If the "new menu is on" you can also choose to press the arrow in messages and create i.e. a new task. Get it?
i hate the recent software list too. thanks BeyondtheTech, i will try that!
EDIT: It works beautiful! Thanks!!!
Thanks for your info guys.
But, does anyone know how I can get rid of the "Today" shortcut from the top of my Start Menu? It's doing nothing there and certainly wasn't present when I began using the PDA a couple of weeks ago.
Shame there's no real in-built fix for the other things eh?
Thank you too helterskelter for your explanation of the added new menu
I see what you're saying now, and it's worth having.
Is it a way to disable edit of Owner's Info with current data - maybe registy entry....
even if you disable it when you do a hard reset you will be able to edit it again
shogunmark - I know about it.
I need it, because from time to time I accidently hit owner info and info is changed. I would like to limit this posibility.
After hard reset still I need to fill out info.
are you talking about accidentally hitting it on the today screen?
Yes,
Sometimes when I have phone in side case is accidentally hits on user info, and sometimes changes inputed data

You can make the item on the today screen non-selectable
In the registry
goto HKLM\software\microsoft\today\items\
then goto owner info and give 'selectability' a value of 0
Close down via power button and startup - owner info should not be selectable i.e. highlightable on the today screen.
meschle - your's solution is half what i am looking.
What I am exactly looking is selectability=1 and when you enter everything would be non-changable. Like all fields label not text boxes. I do not know how to descibe it diffrently.

I dont think that is possible the info is in HKCU\controlpanel\owner and there are no parameters to make it non-changable.
You could have a static xml plugin but the result is essentially the same as option 1.

I did it in my hermes without success. I can still select it and change the info.
Is there anything that I've missed? Thanks.
You are right that tweak is only to make it non-selectable via d-pad not the stylus - the only way then is to have a plugin that allows text input and is totally non-selectable e.g. a xml plugin - there are a number around.
You can try rlToday
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=269650&highlight=rltoday
edit the XML file to display whatevr information you want. I don't think it is selectable.
Can't download, the site is down, I'll try again later.
Thanks

I've tried the Owner Info X plugin vijay cited.
It had a problem appearing consistently--the plugin's today slot would, at times, have nothing in it.
Dunno if the problem was fixed in a newer version of the plugin, though.
Thanks Vijay, worked as I wanted.
Thanks again
Ever been asked to recommend apps?
Anyone still recommending apps by providing a long long list of app names or links?
Anyone want to remember apps they like without writing it down onto a list?
Panels
A New Way To Share Apps!
Its extremely simple to use.
To Share Apps
1. Download and install Panels from this link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.varience.panels
2. Go to the Add Apps Section and check the apps you want to add then press the + button. (You can also add apps directly from Play Store app)
3. Then go back to the Panel that you've added your apps
4. Press the export button to export out the panel as a file and then distribute it as you wish. There's a share button you can tap too.
To View Apps
1. Download and install Panels from this link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.varience.panels
2. Download any Panel files that had been previously exported by other people and place it onto your device. Here's mine: http://goo.gl/O5eix
3. Open up Panels and press the Import button. If the file isn't found, press the refresh button to run a system-wide scan.
4. Browse through all the apps that is now shown.
5. Look at some screenshots, read the descriptions, read notes that other people wrote... and press Install if you want to download.
Extremely simple to use!
With Panels, you're able to quickly share apps of any amount and also have the benefit of keeping them as files to import back at any moment in time.
Another way to use Panels and that's to remember apps!
Ever had an app you really like, but seldomly use?
You feel like uninstalling it because it takes up space, but you don't want to forget about it.
So rather than writing down all these names and hoping you'll remember them in the future... you can just add the app to a Panel and then uninstall!
Apps that are on a panel remain on a panel even if the app isn't installed on your device.
So you can use Panels as a way to remember apps you like and as a quick way to always be able to install them back.

Warning
This is NOT a data backup app like Titanium Backup! It will not backup your data.
Its purpose is just to remember the app and be a better way to share apps.
Just imagine if this was also a data backup app and you've backed up like 12gb of data. Imagine what it would be like to send a 12gb file to share apps. Imagine their surprise when they install the app and say, "Why am I level 86??"
So yes, this is not a data backup app.

Sometimes, you download an application because you find it interesting and then finally, it don't need or like it or more (it arrives very often), or you have just changed of rom, of version of Android. I've got a lot of apps, between my changes of terminal, the articles of test for a French blog etc...It's really easy and fast to download some free apps.
In brief, for the most ancient, you must have an important download history :silly:
For awhile now there’s been a way to delete the free crapware from your download history, but not many users are aware of the feature. For your benefit we’ve provided a handy step-by-step guide to getting rid of the apps from your download history that you’re confident you won’t be revisiting in the future.
On first you need the last update of Google Play Store apk, which is 3.10.9, Especially don't say “why I do not have do it earlier ????”. For the simple one and good reason which this functionality is very recent.
=> Open the Play Store App on your device.
=> You’re going to be presented with a list of all your currently installed apps, and below that you may see a list of apps ready for update.
=> Tap the options button in the top-right corner of the screen and select ‘My Apps’ from the drop down menu.
=> Swipe from right-to-left to bring up the ‘All’ screen.
=> From here you can delete the history of any free app you have downloaded. Simply tap the circle with a line through it above the word “Free” in the app list.
=> If you want to select multiple history entries just hold down on the app until you feel the short vibration. Then go through the list and select the other free apps you want to remove.
=> Tap the circle with a line through it in the top right corner if you have multiple items selected and you will be prompted to select ‘OK’ or ‘Cancel’ to confirm your removal.
You’re done! The app list should now refresh, and it should be missing whatever you selected for removal.
Maybe it will be long for some download history. Mine was new and fresh after 2 hrs :victory:
And don't forget to rate for this thread -

Bonjour cher compatriote,
Thanks for this tutorial.
I still don't understand why we can't do this directly from the Google Play website. It would be so easy: tick or untick what we want to keep .
For some reason these "popup text bubbles" stays on screen for about 60sec(Don't know there name, so it's hard finding related search results).
They're supposed to go away way faster(~5-15sec?).
I can't find a way to revert it, so do any of you know whats going on?
This behavior has persisted on two phones(Both running android 11).
I've imported my settings using my google account to the new phone.
The new phone:

Disable Bubble Notification On Android For Specific AppsStep 1. Grab your phone or tab (Android) and swipe down from the top of the screen once or twice.
Step 2. Tap on the Settings icon to open your device’s Settings menu.
Step 3. Now, scroll down until you find “Apps and Notifications.” Tap on it.
Step 4. Tap the message that says “See all X apps.” You will find icons of three apps installed on your device on top of the phone screen and this message under it. And ‘X’ is basically, the total number of apps you have on your device.
Step 5. From the list of apps, select the app for which you don’t want to use Bubbles.
Step 6. Then, in the app window, tap “Notifications” and then, select “Bubbles.”
Step 7. Next, tap on the button that says “Nothing can bubble.”
This will stop sending you a Bubble for every message you receive in that app.
Regards,
Willjoe
