Anyone know safe maximum voltage? - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am running stable overclock at 1.7 Ghz at 1425 mv.
Anyone know the safe limits of this processor?

Hello, i would like to know the maximum overclock frequency and voltage i can "safely" use. I'm doing digital painting with TVPaint and the processor is really struggling at 1.4 ghz... I notice a small improvement at 1.6 ghz but still not enough. What is the safe limit ?
Btw i'm using tegrak overclock.

Something ive learned with g1 dev, never say "nope", way to many times stuff which had been said impossible has been done.
But
1) OP do you know what you can over clock your g1 (not to 1 ghz though)
2) whats the full clock speed of the cpu 4 the moment?

A processor clocked at 384mhz (g1) being overclocked to over a gig? What you gonna use to keep it cool? Liquid nitrogen?
true that... even at 576 mhz it gets way too hot while using wifi... besides, the phone just locks up when you go over 650 mhz or so. i have tried. i dont think it can handle it.

The thing is the moment runs at 800 Mhz stock so 1006-800= 200 Mhz overclock, or a 25% overclock. Our G1's were built for 385, but I've gotten mine stable up to 729, so an 89% overclock. Granted, the CPU inside the G1 was designed for 528 but HTC underclocked it for battery purposes, so it's only a 38% overclock. The samsung moment has a really crappy samsung chip (pre-hummingbird), but it should be able to squeeze out a few more mhz. I don't have much hope for anything more than 729 on our phones, at least not without an overvolt kernel and some sort of liquid cooling system.

Hehe It might be placebo but Raging Thunder 2 is MUCH more playable at 700 Mhz than at 528.
It is true that there is more to speed than clock rate, I'm not going to argue about that. A Core 2 due at 3.3 Ghz doesn't compare to a Core i3 at 2.2 Ghz, since the core i3 has more cores and is a more efficient platform. But a Core i3 at 1.6 Ghz in a netbook won't compare to a Core i3 at 2.4 Ghz in a desktop. Clock speed can make a big difference in performance. You can optimize all you want but using brute force helps out. Of course I only overclock when I want to play some 3D racing games and I'm close to a power source. I usually run it at 352 or 480.

1ghz would probably fry the whole motherboard :| What we really need is some ram, which will be no problem when I upgrade.

Why would you want to OC that much, I'm sure your battery last all of about 4 hours tops

Is is possible for us to overclock our infuse to 2 Ghz? It's kind of lame that we are stuck at 1.6 Ghz when SGS i9000 are overclocking theirs to 1.7 Ghz and they have a weaker processor than us! Just wondering. Thanks!

1.8 Ghz? How?
Excuse me, I should say you can get it to 1.8, but 1.6 is the the highest that's really stable. I seem to have read that may people have gotten 1.8 with few issues however.

There was a kernel that reported 1.8 incorrectly.
I have looked at those 1.7 GHz kernels and there is some interesting development going on with voltages to make it more stable but it is a weird bastard conglomeration of clocks and those kernels have there own issues. The limiting factor it's not the quality of the CPU but that the multipliers are locked at no more than 8 times the buss speed. Overclocking beyond 1.6 means buss overclocking which causes all kings of issues that must be worked through often by under clocking other things. most infuses are perfectly stable at 1.6 with no special treatment like exists in those 1.7 kernels but heat can run away and cause crashes when using the cell and GPS radios. It would be cool to run some benchmarks on Miui with 1.7 GHz to see if you can break 5000 in quadrant but really it is only 6% more than what we have in a perfect stable form. Not to mention that the CPU is throttled and would rarely see that speed and tweaking the governor would probably do more for the user since going to 1.7 means compromises in other clocks and potential problems.
It's not a matter of possible but a matter of why?
And for the record the best experience I had with my captivate was on froyo with glitterballs' stream kernel which had some cool stuff going on with hardware acceleration running jfs lagfix at 800 mhz. If I could get some of that in a GB kernel that I could run at 600 or 800 mhz with the insane undervolt my CPU can tolerate I'd be in heaven. Battery life for days!

using tegrak is great and easy, i am at 1.2 right now. i think up to 1.3 is pretty safe. here is a guide to under volt if you chose. overcloacking drains the battery much faster. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1294815
i found these settings to work best for me @ 1.2
Lv0- 1200mhz 1228 1095
Lv1- 800mhz 1093 1050
Lv2- 400 mhz 980 995
Lv3- 200mhz 877 988

I think the highest dsexton702 ever tested it at was 1.6 GHz stable. Of course, you practically never need that much power, unless if you wanted your SGS4G to make breakfast.
Be careful when overlocking. It can damage your hardware when not done properly.

Overclocking and undervolting is highly debatable, some say its good and some say its bad... so its upto you to decide and proceed further
First rule of overclocking.. Your Mileage May Vary​
Most of the people here in xda do know about overclocking and stuffs but still there are many who are so eager to overclock their device . Hence this guide.
I have given some good info below about these stuffs as far as i can , you can always use google to get further details.
What is overclocking?
Overclocking is the process of making a computer or component operate faster than the specified clock frequency by the manufacturer by modifying system parameters. One of the most important techniques is running at a higher clock rate (more clock cycles per second; hence the name "overclocking")
Operating voltages may also be changed (increased), which can increase the speed at which operation remains stable.
Advantage:
You can get more performance from your chipset, though s4 is already fast you can see the visible changes in application execution time and much more like instant response time.
Disadvantage:
* Overclocking is always risky if something is configured improperly and may also result in permanent damage to your hardware. As long as it is done safely you are good to go.
* You may see some increased power consumption.
* Extreme overclocking might kill your hardware.
Undervolting :
The process where you provide less voltage to your cpu rather than the stock voltage.
Advantage:
* Reduced heat from your device.
* Good battery life.
Disadvantage:
* Extreme undervolting will make your device unstable and some times even end up with a boot loop.
Apart from the voltage table defined below for exynos the below mentioned data are common for 9500/9505
Overclocking in Exynos Octa:
Exynos 5410 is already one among the best performing chipset available, so overclocking this device is not going to give us any visible performance improvements except the benchmark scores. Underclocking is a different story on 9500, since the cpu temperature easily reaches upto 90C (90C is the throttle temperature defined for this device in the kernel, so its normal) undervolting the device will help in reducing the overall temperature of the device considerably. I highly recommend undervolting the device instead of overclocking it.
Exynos 5410 has 2 cpu clusters, stock voltages and available steppings are given below

Though the cpu frequency table has steppings upto 2ghz the max stable clock i have seen so for on s4 is 1800mhz.
Requirements:
1. Kernel with overclocking/undervolting support.
2. stweaks or android tuner to change frequency/voltage.(you can use the app of your choice here).
3. set cpu and stability test to test the stability of CPU.
4. Some patience.
The below mentioned steps are common for 9500/9505
Step 1:
Set the current clock and voltage you want to test via android tuner/stweaks. (Select max frequency in cpu tab).
Example:
*If you want to test under volting for 1.4 ghz with 1050 mv (1100 is the default) then set 1.4 ghz as max clock and 1050mv as its voltage.
*If you want to test overclocking @ 1.7 ghz with 1150 mv (1200 is the default) then set 1.7 ghz as max clock and 1150 mv as its voltage.
Step 2:
Open set cpu's cpu stress test and run it for atleast 10 minutes. If you didnt get any errors or hang during the testing period and if the test completed successfully then the clock is ready for daily use
Step 3:
Now for undervolting use the same tools and reduce the voltage by -25mv.
Repeat step 2.
you can reduce the voltage further by -25 mv after every successful completion of stress test (Advanced users can try reducing -50mv )
Step 4:
Repeat step 1,2 and 3 for every possible cpu clock you see in android tuner/stweaks.
Note the stable cpu voltage for every clock, once you finish testing all your clock values save it as a profile and/or set it on boot.
Voila !!! now you have finished overclocking/ under voting your device.
Notes:
1. Never ever use set on boot option until you find the stable clock and voltage settings.
2. Not all chips are capable of running at higher speeds like 1800 mhz. Those speeds are highly experimental.
3. Recommended max overclocking is 1700 mhz.
4. If your device gets hotter allow the device to cool for few minutes before starting the test.
5. Either use stweaks or android tuner(or some other app), dont mix up.
6. Combining the overclocking and undervolting will give you the best of both the worlds
In case of emergency:
1. If your device becomes unstable and not responsive either press the power button until your device restarts or pull out your battery.
2. Android tuner has an option to create flashable zip for resetting the voltage table, use it if needed.

hmm, with 400Mhz more You have same results as stock? something is wrong, maybe settings do not apply or overheating is causing cpu throttling down so scores are so low.

Every chips has different mileage, even if his chip runs at 2ghz, it will throttle down in very few seconds.

Which Kernel are u using??? I assume ure using Perseus 4... Ive heard and read on some forums that ver 4 has some problems with Camera/Sound etc issues???

absolutely Zero issues.....camera opens at the blink of an eye. Am on wanams MEA firmware, trimmed and themed by me according to my need.

I increased the voltages as advised by u but the quadrant results are around 13000 benchmark...
I'm currently using Omega 8/Perseus 3.4 along with the cross breeder....
My phones very snappy but just wondering about the quadrant result... Is there anything I'm missing???

[Q][A700] CPU frequency max 1,3GHz with Vorbeth's oc kernel?

Hello,
Recently i flashed iconiaN 2.6 on my A700 and I'm really happy of it, works great
I get Vorbeth's oc kernel for iconiaN but I got a little problem with that one (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2004441)
The GPU overclock worked for me, I installed tegra overclock which has a thermal guard after my A700 was getting pretty hot just to be sure
Now I noticed that the cpu clock speed in tegra overclock and setCPU doesn't get higher then 1,2 or 1,3 in high performance. Normally it should get around 1,5 with Vorbeth's kernel or not? (Why is 1,5 not an option in setCPU?) Even overclock to 1,4 max and 1,4 min doesn't change anythinh, it's still 1,3GHz.
Did I baddly install the kernel or is it just setCPU that doesn't show the right clockspeed?
