[Q] Need help :( - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

Hi to all,
I'm actually posting this for a friend, so the device randomly restarts and showing Samsung logo twice then it would turn blank and vibrate endlessly. I've tried putting it into odin mode or recovery mode but it gives me this message,
"verifying internal mmc block... checksum confirmation not need checksum confirmation already executed"
after that it will turn blank and it'll start vibrating again.
Any help would be greatly appreaciated.
Thanks in advance!!

Remove the battery and plug the phone cord in then replace the battery while holding the both volume rockers.
what happen initially in order for this to happen

My friend says, while he was texting the device just restarted then turned blank. Tried your instructions but when the screen warning about installing a rom w/a yellow triangle appears, i followed to press the volume up and after that, the device shuts off and vibrates again.

Did you over-clock/under-clock/use a clock frequency governor? Cause on mine it did the same when it went down to low clock frequencies
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727
nope no over or under clocking... personally i really have no reason to.... be back in a few gonna wipe cash and delvik....
ok wiped cache and delvik that seemes to work. one thing i noticed.... i have to use rom manger to boot into recovery.. i cant power up into recovry with power and both volume buttons pressed. or volume up and power or volume down power. tried them all ....weird.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but let go of the power only after splash screen, continue holding volume rockers.

Hard Bricked Skyrocket?

I have been running the ICS leak on my sky rocket since it came out, with no real problems making the phone un-useable.
Starting yesterday, my phone would randomly restart and would reboot to the samsung logo. Once it hits the at&t splash screen it will vibrate and reboot all over again until I pull the battery and restart the phone.
Now today the same incident occurred, and pulling the battery is not fixing the issue. When I put the battery in, it will just continue the loop of the samsung logo.
No flashing since I installed ICS months ago, only change would be installing random apps in the play store.
I'm unable to enter recovery, and when I get to the download screen it just reboots after showing a blue screen.
Pretty lost on what else to try with this phone.
Vol+ and vol- and power hold them down
Or vol- plug in usb

Phone will get to the download screen, and the CWM screen then restart before anything can be done.

No dice, even tried a backup battery that was fully charged in a external charger.
Same result

Have you tried forcing DL mode when it's already plugged into a computer? Pull battery, plug usb into computer and phone, hold vol + and -, put battery back in. That might keep you in DL mode. Good luck

Restarts getting into DL mode as well.
Im actually thinking the power button might be stuck internally. Since the button itself does click when i push it

Popped off the frame, but had to run out before actually doing any tinkering.
So screwed it back together before I left, and now the phone works perfectly fine.
*shrug*
Thanks for the assistance guys
Well glad that worked for u

samsung infuse download mode help

So, my sister infuse recently got into boot loop. I couldn't get into download mode with all the 3 buttons method, so I decided to get a usb jig. It arrived today but once it enters download mode it leaves it after a couple seconds so I can't even plug the usb cable into it. I tried charging the phone for 6 hours but when I plug it in, it goes in a charge loop where it resets and shows the charging circle every couple of second. Anybody know any other tips that made help? I'm thinking it turning to a hardware brick instead of a software brick.
It's possible your power button is messed up...
Also you tried download mode wrong...three fingers is for recovery...
Download mode:
Pull battery
Put battery back in
Hold volume up+down
Plug USB cord with heimdal or Odin running on pc
You should now be in download mode
Here's a thread about the possible power button prob...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1764079

Everytime i plug the battery, the phone turns on by itself already. I tried you method thou and it just keeps in bootloop.

Yes it turned back on! But the screens turns fuzzy from time to time. I'm gonna do a full wipe and see what happens.
If nothing else does the trick, I sent mine to Samsung and they fixed it for free no shipping or nothing just FREE

Phone just vibrates won't power on

if you read the sticky [REF] |Read This b4 posting | THE MOST Common Questions Answered HERE you might of found your answer
24) Q. i tried "name of custom rom here" but a feature of the phone doesnt work , eg. camera
A. read the thread for the rom to see if the dev states any issues, read users feedback if they have/mention said feature not working, eg camera, if no, did it work when on stock or return to stock to see if said function/hardware works, if said function works on stock and users of rom states that it does work, then its usually user error, what error? idk, you need to troubleshoot.
32) Q. why does my phone bootloop every few seconds
A. could be a "sticky power button", read the next question and the info section in the 1STOP STICKY
33) Q. how do i test for a stuck "sticky" power button
A. TEST: remove then reinsert the battery and if the phone turns on by itself and then takes approx 10 sec's to turn off and then starts vibrating every couple of seconds then its for sure a power button problem, its stuck, goto the link in the previous answer for a possible fix
Click to collapse
if any of the above didn't get results or fix the issue then it could be a hw failure
Except it's not bootlooping I did read this I wouldn't have asked the question if that was the problem. The screen doesn't come on at all just get a small vibration when holding the power button then nothing pull battery put back in push power same thing.

if the pulling battery test resulted in "turns on by itself and then takes approx 10 sec's to turn off and then starts vibrating every couple of seconds " then its a stuck button, bootloop/vibrating every couple of sec's are synonymous, but I will reword the sticky to state both
edit: the key thing you need to establish is if reinserting the battery restarts the phone w/out u touching the power button, if so then the button is stuck. if it didn't restart then return to stock and see if it corrected the issue( I guess that would be hard todo if the phone only restarts/vibrates every 2 seconds), if not then its some hw failure or could even be a battery prob
I reedited the sticky to be more concise on the issue and the testing for the stuck power button
No it doesn't boot by itself when reinserting the battery. Sorry I'm Utah and the phone is in Texas. computer doesn't recognize anything when plugging in either. Using logmein to watch his computer while he's doing this. I do appreciate the help

then see if they can get into the recovery and /or download mode, if so then wipe caches and reset or reflash the rom or return to stock
No download mode think it might be dead going to have him get a new battery then see what it does

I figured as such that it might have something todo w/the battery, either it was flaky or not charged or cannot be charged which could also be with the charger and/or cable or bad battery contacts. I haven't seen a phone behave in the way you described other than a bad power button, if you ruled out all the known issues as stated in my previous posts then it would have to be a hw issue but hopefully it was just a bad power adapter, usually the first thing a user would do is rule out a dead battery before seeing what else could be wrong with the phone

Any way to backup my phone image? Getting a refurb from VZW >.<

As the topic states...my power button is broke so I have to get a refurb from VZW. Is there any way to transfer a TWRP backup or make an Odin .tar image that I can flash on my new phone?
Thanks!!!

Your power button is broken in what way? Broken as in even removing it and pressing the white button under the board does absolutely nothing?
Is the phone powered on? If so, just boot into TWRP via your rom or GooManager and perform a backup. Transfer that zip to a computer. If the phone is currently powered off, I'm afraid I know of no way to get it powered on unless you disassemble it. Maybe someone else knows a way?

Well, I can power it on and off...but the power button is very sensitive, even touching near the side will cause it to stick. If you press it the screen will constantly turn on and off, and sometimes the power menu will keep showing up.
I did a twrp backup to my external SD. Is there anything else I need to do so the new phone recognizes it?
Thanks!!!

Nah, just like @dmonleo says, root/unlock and you're good. Mine was like that recently, oddly enough doing the following helped. Try this. Might work, might not.

I actually received my 2nd refurb today from Verizon due to the same issue. The first 6 months of owning the phone, I had the power button sensitivity issue where I won't even need to push it to turn on/off the screen. Now 8 months later, the exact same thing is happening. Now I'm just wondering if I can just flash the stock image and send it back rooted/unlocked.
