Hello!
I own an HTC Desire S and a headset made for iPhones. My queston is: Is there any solution to get the headset fully functional? (I mean the mic, the volume control buttons etc...) I know, that they have different "jack pinouts" or whatever it's called. That's the reason why I was looking for some kind of converter/adapter cable wich would make it work, but there isn't any succes yet...
Thanks for any reply!

Hello!
I usually use my HTC diamond as a mp3 player and I'm using the original headphones which came with the phone. But, sometimes, I put my diamond plugged in with the phones inside my jeans pocket and due to the key it has on the headphones, it makes the phone call the last number i've dialed. Is it possible to disable that key?
thanks!
My problem too
that's exactly my problem. for the love of god, help us!

why you don't try SRS WOW HD 121.A2DP or HTC Equalizer 1.0.2 for quality sound in your headphones for the better....
I tried to use google navigation with my Jawbone bluetooth headset and the voice of the lady that gives you turn by turn directions are coming out of the phone speaker, not through my headset.
is there a setting I'm missing to get it to come through the headset instead of the phone speaker?
I checked in the google navigation and found nothing, nor in the settings > wireless & network > bluetooth...
Thanks in advance.
can anyone help me out with this?
thanks.

oh... well that's not very convenient...
that also explains why music don't go to my headset either... huh.
you know, actually, that's kind of stupid now I think about it.
who the heck at HTC decide on that? I mean, who drives with a stereo bluetooth headset on? it's illegal!
speaker on our phones aren't that loud to begin with. having the turn by turn direction come trough on the headset would have been beneficial...
go figure.
I hope they add an option so this is possible on the update(if we ever get it).
anyway, thank you very much for the info.

yeah, I just realized that...
stupid if you ask me. who the heck drives around with a stereo headset...
I mean sure, I guess it's fine to work with a handsfree carkit and/or patched through your bluetooth enabled car stereo but if you have your window down while driving, it's still hard to hear.
they need to come up with an option on the phone setting for either stereo or mono bluetooth connectivity.

Well thats not actually true. Make sure your next Bluetooth has Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP). It doesnt have to be stereo, it can be monural, mine is. All of mine are actually. If it has A2DP it it will say it on the box. A lot of jawbones have that feature but i've noticed it buggy with the sensation. When a headset has A2DP, when it connects to the phone it connects as phone audio and media audio. With the sensation for me, on multiple jawbones (jawbone and jambox) it only connects both audio sources when it initially pairs. The next time it connects it only connects as phone audio. I have to unpair the jawbone then pair it again and media audio will work. I've updated the firmware on both of my jawbones and it didn't help. Maybe a fix is comin, who knows. Doesnt look like TmoUS is gonna get one any time soon
OP What model jawbone do you have? If it has A2DP then unpair it and re-pair it, it should work then.

hey, thank you for the info.
that just solved it right there. A2DP...
I own a Jawbone 2. I don't think this unit has A2DP.
I guess it's time to upgrade to a new headset.
hate to give it up though... I really like how it looks, hangs on the ear(fits my ear perfect, can't even tell sometimes I have it on), and sounds.
guess I'm off to shop for either a new Jawbone(if they fit my ear right) or a new brand altogether.
anyway, thanks again.
Plain and simple your bluetooth has to support media playing thru it
For anyone with a Senation already.
If anyone could be bothered...
Just wondering if a Headphone Controller app will work with the Sensation..??
I really want to get the iPhone version of the Sennheiser Headphones (PMX 680i Sports) which has the 4 ring controller along with Vol/Next Trk/etc and was wondering if this app works on the Sensation to allow that type of control.
(I think the HTC supplied phones have controls, but want better sound)
Really would like to know before diving in to the device. It would be great know if anyone has the knowledge or wants to try it out....
Cheers to all.
unfortuantly i do not have a wired headset with any button controls to test foe you. But i do use a couple of bluetooth headsets and the AVRCP is fully supported.
Not exactly what your after but may be of some interest to you
I have old Koss wired phones w/ controler i used with ipod and it doesnt work ... as for sennheiser, the bundled hs which came with my previous phone the HTC HD mini was from sennheiser so maybe even that one comming with sensation is

As of this moment, I can only confirm that the Play/Pause button on headphones designed for iPhone works normally on the Sensation without having to use Christoph Kober's Headset Button Controller app (which is really, really awesome in case anyone is wondering).
This is in contrast to, for example, the Nexus S I had before which would not properly recognize any button inputs at all. I had to use the controller app to get music working on that phone.
I'll reinstall the Headset Button Controller app and test it out with my girlfriend's iPhone earbuds tonight, and I'll get back to you once I confirm whether or not it reads the Volume Up and/or Volume Down buttons. I have the sneaking feeling that it won't, but hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised :]
Thx sosquidtaste
I really appreciate your effort.
There are a ton of really good headphones out there sold as iPhone capable with controllers that woud be great to be able to use them (working) on the Sensation. I can understand why they are marketed to the iphone folks, but it seems they miss a big chunk of the market by not working with other devices..
(I like the Sennheisers because they go around the back of your neck as one unit - not a big fan of bud style)
So, here's hoping!
Cheers

Sorry mate-- I just checked in the app's debug mode and confirmed that the Sensation still doesn't recognize anything but the center button on earbuds designed for iPhones. It was worth a shot!

Bugger...!
Appreciate the effort. I wonder why this is such an 'out there' thing? To me at least, it would seem logical for the OS to support something so, well, basic as headphone control. Wonder why there has been no 'universal format' for this type of thing.
....sigh.

Glad to help-- I was pretty curious about this too, given just how well the center button behaved even without the headset controller app. I just wish it turned up more encouraging results.
Competing platforms are great for the most part, except when small but important features get shot up in the crossfire ;(

Just curious, can this be changed when this bugger gets Rooted or S-Off or whatever the heck is done with the locks come off this thing..?

As I understand it, the control issue is related to specific hardware configurations in the headphone port of our phones so not even the most righteous of hacks will enable them to read input that they aren't wired to receive ;(
I'm no engineer though, so I'd be happy to be contradicted by someone in the know

Interesting...
So why I wonder, does the HTC specific Headphones work?
Do they use a different set of rules/hardware/ whatever...?
Curious.
Cheers to all.
Im using some skullcandy aviators and it has a mic on it (I believe) but the bigger issues for me is that the buttons for volume and song control don't work do you guys know of any headsets with mics that work. I just hate having to hold my phone in my hand if im moving around, listening to music, then get a call so that I can talk through the speaker on the phone. Any help would be appreciated.

I seen some Android headphones in radioshack the other day but Im wondering if theres some kind of app to give us funtionality?? I doubt it but I can hope I guess
The problem is that the Atrix 2 uses the new OMTP 3.5 mm jack which has the ground and the mic switch compared to a standard 3.5 mm jack. In order to have a functioning mic you would need an OMTP compatible headset or find an adapter.
I have had problems finding either...but finally found one made by nox audio (but can't find a place that actually sells it) and one made by blueant which you can order from their website (it is a spare part for their over ear headphone). I plan to buy one and try it and see if it works.

Ok great im going to look into it too, thanks for your answer
My headset seems to work just fine.
It can pick-up/hang-up phone calls. And when not in a phone call, the "answer" button activates the voice search.
They are JVC...I'll have to look tomorrow to see exactly what model.
Check this one

Other than trying to buy the Beats that come bundled with the HTC ReZound, the HTC ones have volume control. In reality any one button headphones can work as long as you have the Jays headset control app installed on your phone. With it, you can assign the number of presses to map out what you want that to do, either volume up or down. It works for my SOL Republic Tracks HD and AMPS HD

Any headphones, personal or not-so personal would do the job that comes with the 'remote' volume control on the leads
You could even wear those ridiculous huuuge ones that people now strut about with over their heads pretending to be Cybermen, instead of the discreet but tinny ones we all used to wear
Or pay about £100 and get a pair that allow no tinny noise out and you can play it as loud as you want and it won't sound crap to your ears or others sat near you
Argos, Currys, Dixons, PCWorld, Amazon, ebay ... you name they stock it
Even PoundLand, if you want them to last 24 hours and hurt your ears
I use this for 3button headset

Uhm...already posted in post #2 and #4. Just sayin.
I got a pair of Sony headphones right now with volume control, you can also pause music, end a call, skip songs (on ICS) I'm actually drinking a guinness in my backyard, jamming.. But I'll edit this post in a sec with the model. Or you can google Sony headphones at best buy.. They cost about $30
