Hello all,
I have installed an app that requires /proc/mic_level in the kernel to function. The app is HD2 Mic Gain Control.
When I access the app, I get a screen stating all functionality has been disabled because my kernel does not have /proc/mic_level.
I have flashed k0nane's rooted kernel and CWM Recovery 5.5.0.4 as located in the SGH-T769 Bible thread but it still won't give me functionality.
Does anyone know of a modded kernel for the Blaze that has support for mic level?? I've searched and searched and I cannot find anything for this model.
Thanks!!
As far as I know, I am the only one modding the kernel (at least publicly), and that one isn't on my radar
Please post questions in the General section.
/sigh

Hardware is identical except that NS4G has the NFC and no flip keyboard.
I bet if you flash one of their ROMs and then Netarchy's kernel it'll work just fine.
What do you think?
No... dear lord... just no
I posted over at the Epic forum and they got ours to work on the Epic. But it doesn't just work out of the box. There are some things which need to be moded.

oh you guys are so smart with those comments
Can u post the rom for epic 4g. Ill do it
Uncle Jimmy says hello
No, it's not a matter of doing it. This was a question to someone who could answer it. Obviously the two you've seen were not technically oriented to be able to even have a guess.
The answer to this, if you follow the link I posted from the epic forum, is that some minor adjustments need to be made to the ROM it'self before it can be successfully flashed following with a kernel. If you don't, you'll get an error in the recovery or at best the phone will boot but not have all the functions.
So the guys from the Epic forum answered my question and they are happy I brought it up because they'll have a pure GB ROM on their phone with all the new stuff included.
Makes me wish I got the Epic. At least there, my questions would have been answered better.

wow first, they can boot a stock aosp rom because they have a .35 cm7 kernel, we on the other hand dont have a .32 kernel, or a .35 touchwiz kernel. and yes most of the rom.. should work (save for anything to do with radio) on the epic (again with the correct kernel) and most of the people there are happy because any thoughts of gingerbread give them giggles. they have a gb rom already, its cm7 and its halfway working, but it wont be because of teh nexus s 4g. its because they have some of teh best devs working on it. the reason why their rom wont work is because touchwiz is heavily integrated into it, we dont have the support for that (yet, who knows what someone may try to port over) prime example look at the sense rom and tell me how many of those things are working? the epic is as close to the nexus s 4g as it is to the motorola razr. they share the same radio and chipset and a few other random parts and pieces how the ril is used is completely different, how the gps is run is totally different.
how's that for an answer? if you wanna swap to the epic i know plenty of guys that are in the epic irc channel that would gladly trade with you.
Thank you. That was better than the other post.

I'm trying to root my new samsung galaxy s2. The phone's kernel contains "kh7" in the kernel description. Where can I find an insecure kernel with kh7?

I've searched the forums for the last 45 min - 1 hour) and have not found anything specific to overclocking the Infuse 4G. Please forgive me and kindly point me in the right direction if the information is in the forums as I have not found it.
I found an article on addictivetips.com (this forum won't let me post the link) that I followed but it bricked my phone.
AT&T Infuse 4G
rooted
CWM Recovery w/ voodoo lag fix 2.5.1.2 (I think)
Numas One ROM
You need a compatible kernel that supports overclocking, and then an app like voltage control or setcpu to do the overclocking itself.

Overclocking is a kernel mod. You probably flashed an incompatible kernel. If you are on numas ROM you will need infusion GB kernel. You can't run infusion froyo or a cm7 kernel. The kernel has to match the ROM.
Bewda's kernel also allows OC. And I personally No Frills CPU controller. Works fine.. Simple interface. Easier than voltage control to figure out. Not saying it doesn't work don't get me wrong, just easier to figure out. Stupid proof.
Edit: And seriously dude... READ! This question is answered ALL over the place. There has to be atleast 5 or 6 different threads in the Q&A section about OC'ing your device. Comon. READ... it's how we all learn and keep our devs happy so that we can keep getting updates. Just look at Jordian Elliots original MIUI thread...

I'll bet you never read the super thread in the dev section.
That's my hint.

Hey folks. Thanks for reading my topic. I hope someone can offer me some help. I'm trying to use the "Mount Manager" app. I attached a screenshot of my tablet info. I'm not very good at android development..... yet. As far as I have understood from related posts was that the kernel modules need to be compiled or something at the time the kernel is compiled or something. I have tried a few different versions of the files (cifs.ko, md4.ko, and nls_utf8.ko I think). The results varied from nothing, crashing, and rebooting. My TF700T is completely stock with a locked bootloader except for root. I've read a lot of posts all over about it and I just seem to be missing something. Thank you again for taking the time to read my post and for any help you can provide.

Are you on 4.2.1? Unless you unlock you will never get this working.
Thank you for the responses. Ya, I'm on 4.2.1 rooted with locked bootloader. I havent had it a month yet but it seems well constructed. A few screen flickers here and there. So, I should abandon CIFS until I unlock?
I have a few other questions, if you can help;
1) My animated boot screen doesnt come up anymore.... what the heck? Lol
2) I have a bluetooth stereo headset and mic, but when I try to listen to a movie or music, the audio goes through the tablet speakers
3) Volume+ doesn't work for me. It just FC's again and again.
I've found a few stories around the web where people have had locked boot loaders and just rooted with 4.2.1 and they got the modules to work.

Love to answer your questions for you ... but you are 100% in the wrong thread for your questions.
This is the Development section and is actually a SUB-forum for a custom ROM called CROMI-X.
Sorry mate. You need to ask these questions in either:
1) Transformer TF700 General
2) Transformer TF700 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
Even better try search
All the best to you...
Thread moved to the appropriate section, i'd advice you to use the report button instaid of replying to the thread stating that it is posted in the wrong section.
Thanks and dear @oninous please use the right section next time.

First, no you do not need a custom kernel to root, however using a custom kernel can provide benefits such as better performance/battery life and added features like superior audio controls etc. A notable kernel for the Galaxy series is the "Siyah Kernel" but it's up to you, personaly I choose not to after issues in past like higher temps
Odin is the tool used to flash software to your device, this is used to flash custom recoveries, kernels and the stock firmware
Superuser is the app used to control permissions to each individual app on your rooted phone, this prevents apps gaining root that you would prefer not to.
Finally, I have rooted an S2 back when I started out with devices. It's fairly painless and has many benefits but I prefer custom ROMs as well as rooting
Hope I could help, however these answers were available elsewhere after looking for a while which is suggested before posting to avoid duplicates when possible
