Hey all, I recently rooted my atrix 2 about 3 days ago then decided I wanted to run ICS so I went back to 2.3.5 then OTA'd to 2.3.6 and got my phone on ICS following Jim's guide. Everything went fine and I was running ICS fine until I downloaded ROMtoolbox and tried to change my font to the DROID font. the screen flashed and everything went to chinese and then my phone reboot itself but now it keepts getting stuck on the white AT&T screen, I've tried running through recovery and rebooting but everytime it just freezes on that screen.
Nevermind guys I got it all back up and working by just reinstalling ICS from recovery menu.

Can you get into bootmenu? If yes, do you have an ICS based backup?
If you don't have a backup or bootmenu the only thing you can really do is fkz back to GB 2.3.5 and re-update...
And for future reference... don't use rom toolbox.. it usually doesn't end well... as you might have figured out.
PEOPLE! Stop goofing around with things using ROM Toolbox, it does nothing for your phone other than cause headaches. I've soft bricked using it, others are having similar problems. It's not worth the hassle. Seriously...

so it would be better to have the individual apps themselves instead of toolbox or stay away from those apps in general? also is it still possible to do the wifi tethering with the ICS leak?

[CLOSED][ROM]Bone Stock & Stock Deodex ROM's Triumph-Now Resets Splash.img!![CLOSED]
Thread closed because I no longer own this device. The download links no longer work. Sorry for any inconvenience.
i just installed and wifi works but when trying to go online rebuts the phone, also the screen goes black and stays like that for like 2 minutes. And yes i did all the restores available.
Which ROM did you flash? Deodexed or Complete Stock?
deoxed one.
Hmm that's odd cause the woofing works fine on mine! Ill look into it!

Same here it works... weird, this is the fix for me that got the wifi functioning again. But then again, I flashed b_randon14's stock theme zip, not this one.
If you want deodex I would recommend that one, more confirm it working at least right now.
Stupid question perhaps, but will apktool properly decompile and recompile framework-res.apk? I ran into a doozy of a problem trying to do that with somebody else's ROM.
Yeah it decompiles just fine! I have done it a thousand times!
Edited op with the zips that will reset the splash.img back to factory as well!!!
Thanks and I'm going to have to try this one out now.
Is the Android logo text hidden deeper in the system than I originally thought? I've actually seen it on my new phone a couple of times now, after reverting different things. You know, the flashing "android" text...
When there is no boot animation, it reverts to the flashing android logo. Its in the framework Res under assets/images. The boot logo(red Motorola logo) is on the same partition as the recovery image as a splash.img. to flash it I have the recovery mount that vfat partition as sd-ext and copy over the the splash.img its the same way I flash recoveries from cwm.
The bootanimations( red Motorola animated logo then cm splash animation) is locates in /hidden/data/power-on animation.

So I installed the deodexed version and I was able to use mobile wifi tether with barnicale without having to change the MTU for the Motorola Triumph!
Once you change the MTU once on a computer, you never have to change it again... you sure it's not just a residual effect?

I'm quite well aware of that. I did it on my laptop, but not my desktop. but my desktop was able to connect online with the tether. i guess i should try it on another machine to make sure.
Is there any advantage with the deodexed version over the odexed version if your goal is to restore the phone to stock after having another ROM installed?
Selling my Motorola Triumph to a friend - I've been running CM7 since the alpha days, so I need to go back to stock. I still have a nandroid of the stock ROM, but that also has a lot of installed apps, not to mention personal information/passwords. Will the complete stock ROM allow her to activate the phone?

It should.
I know this thread is about a year old, but thanks for the stock files.
I had CM7 running on my daughters Triumph. I finally decided to just put both of my kids on my VZW family plan since the Gnex dropped to $50 each and Virgin Mobile's service is a complete waste of money.
I'm selling her Triumph now and the phone has to be stock in order for the new owner to activate it, so this came in handy.
Thank you very much!
Works perfectly. My girlfriend didn't want a buggy ROM ruining her Candy Crush games so I had to bring her back to stock. Took less than ten minutes! Tanks!
for those who used stock att 2.3.6 on there rogers like me. and tried to go back to rogers and most likly got the rainbow screen upon boot up. this method i used by staying up and trying to get rid of that eyesore of a screen. even tho i dont turn my phone off. i knew it was there. here is what i did after i flashed 2.3.6
1. used gtg ultimate unbrick pit, pda, and phone..flashed
2. used Odin_Infused_Gingerbread_Kernel_v1 just to get root and cwm
3. got rom of choice i used 3 of them already and same result. (skips the first boot screen) goes right to samsung. i used miui 2.2.24, infused 2.2.3 and zeus total final.
no more eyesore upon startup of phone
im glad i found a solution. im tired from staying up and getting couple hours sleep for a week. cause i hate broken stuff.
Also I found on Zeus don't install add-ons. As it makes my phone lag and loop

Hello,
I've upgraded a Skyrocket to ICS via Kies the day it was released (Rogers 4.0.4), wife's phone. Went very well, nice and fast no issues.
So now she can finally use Apex launcher (bye Go Launcher!), but adding certain widgets and others functions via Apex require to be rooted (root helper).
The only way I found to root this stock ICS ROM so far is to install CWM Recovery, via this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1722506.
I would like to root it without installing a custom recovery. I checked the methods listed here, but seems to be for GB only... I'll keep looking but if anyone knows... It's probably just too early, soon enough methods should pop up.
Thanks

no, u need to flash su, gb or ics its still the same process, maybe w/oneclick but i never tried that method
but whats the problem using cwm, its very safe todo and its y we can do so many things with our phones, and if need b u can always flash back to stock ics w/sammobile.com firmware files
afraid to say you'll have to have a cumstom recovery. SuperOneClick wont work. It actuallt will only work on GB 2.3.5. 2.3.6 wont. And I'm pretty certain ICS wont either.
Thanks guys, yeah I tried GB methods or rooting without CWM Recovery before posting, no go...should have rooted before upgrading her phone via Kies...
I just wanted to keep it as stock as possible for warranty reasons, in case something happens when I'm not around and the device has to be brought in to a Rogers store.
I've had mine running CWM recovery from day one, but I can restore it to stock without a problem, she's not technical at all... its her "Facebook" phone...
I guess CWM recovery will be going on there shortly...

You can flash back to 3e recovery without losing root. Unrooting is covered in post #10 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1726445
I bricked my unlocked Captivate (bought on Amazon for $240 - I was avoiding a data plan) trying to get Ice Cream Sandwich on it. The phone was rooted.
Initially, the phone was only loading a Samsung splash screen when I tried to get it into normal mode. However, recovery mode was working; it would boot into Clockworkmod. Which is a bad thing considering they would easily tell I had messed with it!
So, I loaded the phone into Download mode and tried to flash the stock ROM using Odin. Odin said "failed" and now my phone was completely soft bricked, and the infamous "[phone]-----/!\-----[computer]" screen was showing up. Download mode worked though. I tried to flash all types of stock and custom ROMs to no avail. Now, recovery and normal modes don't work while Download mode does.
So, I called Samsung and told them it wasn't working; they told me it was still under warranty and I could send it in for repairs.
My question would be: will Samsung repair my phone, or will they find out I messed with it and refuse to do so? Also, if they find out, how much will I have to pay them to fix it?
Getting a new phone is out of the question... I might just buy
If there is an odin flash counter on download mode, they will figure it out if you have messed with it. If there's not, make a good story. Was it on 2.3.6 already when you bought it?
If you can get into download your not bricked. The screen you see is kernel panic. You will have to flash a proper kernel to get it to boot back up.
Sent for a corner cell in Arkham
Yeah, you can still fix it. No need it to bring to samsung
Has anyone sent a bricked phone in to Samsung before?
I tried flashing stock Captivate Gingerbread kernels to no avail. I googled and googled, and I tried everything I found. Including Odin and heimdall.
It was running Gingerbread 2.3.5 when I updated it myself to Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.3. It was running beautifully. Then I tried to recover my backed-up data, which worked, but then I tried to reboot the phone and it wouldn't boot.
And no, I don't remember seeing any "flash counter." Would they still be able to tell?
Has anyone sent a bricked phone in to Samsung before? If so, what were the results?
Also, how much do you think Samsung would charge me to fix it if they found out and voided the warranty? Hopefully less than $50? And they would charge me for shipping too, right?

You recovered your apps thru TB? If yes, Didn't you read that you're not supposed to restore apps from titanium from GB to ICS? Might cause problem like this. No flash counter, they're not gonna notice this. Have you tried flashing again stock GB rom?(not just a kernel but a rom) And when you flashed that GB kernel, was that after you flash an ICS rom? Remember, when you're on ICS, you must use ICS kernel and not GB kernel. If it didnt work Just make a good story! Tell them you updated it through kies and updating was interrupted. Im pretty sure 2.3.6 is out on captivate. If they tell you its your fault for updating it, ask them why did they put update on kies when you can't even use it. Plus, they didn't warn you not to update it.

No, I used Clockworkmod to recover data. It worked, and then I hit "reboot system now," and the phone wouldn't boot.
I already shipped the phone off, but thanks for the help, I really appreciate it! If Samsung doesn't fix it I know what to do now!
Ok, so I've been doing some research over the past few weeks and I figured out what I did wrong. I inadvertently tried doing a Nandroid restore (i.e. - restoring the whole system) instead of just apps. And I didn't wipe data first. That's why it was failing to boot. Why I couldn't flash the stock kernel from Odin; I have no idea.
As for the phone; Samsung fixed it free of charge (all they had to do was a reset...) and sent it back to me.
After getting it back, I rooted and installed Clockworkmod recovery using Corn kernel version 7.05. Geeve420 has an excellent guide over on androidforums.com. Then I flashed Cyanogenmod9 RC2, then Slim ICS version 4.2. It's running smoothly, though in 24 hours I have had 1 freeze (I did a battery pull and restarted) and a few force closes.
I also installed that Google Now app (the thread on XDA is called "The Google Now for ICS Project"). In other words, I went from being a complete n00b to getting JellyBean software on my phone! All I did was follow the directions, step-by-step, and it worked.
Thanks to all who helped!

Good for you then Try not to mess with it again. Haha. Do a lot of reading if you're a little hesistant. Plus, asking before doing so is not problem. We have a lot of helpful xda members here to guide you. Goodluck!
Hey all.
I like to flash my phone. A lot.
I flashed the cm10 build before wifi was fixed. Updated that when they fixed wifi.
Later that week I needed a working camera. So I flashed (without fxzing back to gb ) scv7 in the cm recovery. This was the version that is based on the new leak.
I have since fxz'd back to gb 3 times. The first time was because of oddness I was experiencing, such as no car dock, wifi acting odd.
The second fxz was the result of trying to install my own build of cm9. It went past the bootloader but the screen stayed blank.
I just had to fxz again last night. I tried to reinstall cm10. It just sat on the boot animation for 25 minutes. I remember it taking a bit to boot up the first time previously, but more like 10-15.
Anyone have any thoughts? I'm sitting on 2.3.6 for the moment, I would really like to get back on cm10 but I'm not sure what might be going on.
Thanks.
Luke

I'm thinking that there must be something off in the bootloader. I'm hesitant to go playing with it since that is a quick road to bricking. I might dissect the boot.img that is included in the cm10 zip. I'm thinking there is a missing module, or something similar.
Any input would be appreciated.
New update. I was able to get back to CM10. I had forgotten to wipe data. Thats what I get for flashing when half asleep.
Still trying to understand what happened to stop my cardock from working. Charging in the dock works fine, but it doesn't start car dock mode, or push audio through the usb. I'd really like to get that working again.
