[CLOSED][ROM]Bone Stock & Stock Deodex ROM's Triumph-Now Resets Splash.img!![CLOSED]
Thread closed because I no longer own this device. The download links no longer work. Sorry for any inconvenience.

i just installed and wifi works but when trying to go online rebuts the phone, also the screen goes black and stays like that for like 2 minutes. And yes i did all the restores available.

Which ROM did you flash? Deodexed or Complete Stock?

deoxed one.

Hmm that's odd cause the woofing works fine on mine! Ill look into it!

Same here it works... weird, this is the fix for me that got the wifi functioning again. But then again, I flashed b_randon14's stock theme zip, not this one.
If you want deodex I would recommend that one, more confirm it working at least right now.

Stupid question perhaps, but will apktool properly decompile and recompile framework-res.apk? I ran into a doozy of a problem trying to do that with somebody else's ROM.

Yeah it decompiles just fine! I have done it a thousand times!

Edited op with the zips that will reset the splash.img back to factory as well!!!

Thanks and I'm going to have to try this one out now.
Is the Android logo text hidden deeper in the system than I originally thought? I've actually seen it on my new phone a couple of times now, after reverting different things. You know, the flashing "android" text...

When there is no boot animation, it reverts to the flashing android logo. Its in the framework Res under assets/images. The boot logo(red Motorola logo) is on the same partition as the recovery image as a splash.img. to flash it I have the recovery mount that vfat partition as sd-ext and copy over the the splash.img its the same way I flash recoveries from cwm.
The bootanimations( red Motorola animated logo then cm splash animation) is locates in /hidden/data/power-on animation.

So I installed the deodexed version and I was able to use mobile wifi tether with barnicale without having to change the MTU for the Motorola Triumph!

Once you change the MTU once on a computer, you never have to change it again... you sure it's not just a residual effect?

I'm quite well aware of that. I did it on my laptop, but not my desktop. but my desktop was able to connect online with the tether. i guess i should try it on another machine to make sure.

Is there any advantage with the deodexed version over the odexed version if your goal is to restore the phone to stock after having another ROM installed?

Selling my Motorola Triumph to a friend - I've been running CM7 since the alpha days, so I need to go back to stock. I still have a nandroid of the stock ROM, but that also has a lot of installed apps, not to mention personal information/passwords. Will the complete stock ROM allow her to activate the phone?

It should.

I know this thread is about a year old, but thanks for the stock files.
I had CM7 running on my daughters Triumph. I finally decided to just put both of my kids on my VZW family plan since the Gnex dropped to $50 each and Virgin Mobile's service is a complete waste of money.
I'm selling her Triumph now and the phone has to be stock in order for the new owner to activate it, so this came in handy.
Thank you very much!

Works perfectly. My girlfriend didn't want a buggy ROM ruining her Candy Crush games so I had to bring her back to stock. Took less than ten minutes! Tanks!

Help, can't flash 'fixed' sbf files except for one. Telstra Au MB525.

I just tried to flash the Telstra (Australia) SBF. No info comes up in file properties and it gives an instant 'failed flash' message.
I am a bit stuck- i can only flash the China Froyo and the GB Froyo, the only 'Fixed' SBF I can ever flash is the 2.2GB_NoCG_31_39.sbf -(Higgsy fix). The China rom is the first and only Froyo rom I flashed with the above fix.
1a. :I want to know why I cannot flash 'fixed SBF's' that come with JBoogie, ADXLmod, barebones etc roms.
1b :Why do I still have to use the 'Higgsy fix' 2.2GB_NoCG_31_39.sbf? It appears that I am somehow locked to it.
1c :Is it because of the Telstra rom I am on- with all rom flashing instructions, it is mentioned eg 'if you are on 2,21 or 2.34 fw etc- no reference is ever made to the 2.26 fw.
2: I want to know how flashing a rom without the corresponding SBF actually affects the operating of the rom- eg: I get random reboots, black screens, freezups=- is this likely an issue with the rom or because I cannot flash the fixed SBF.
3. Will restoring a Telstra nanodroid on top of the China Froyo SBF that I am running, then applying the fixed Telstra SBF that racca graciously provided make my Defy exactly like stock- or will there still be remnants of the China Froyo etc rattling around under the hood and potentially affecting stability and continuing to affect my ability to flash fixed SBF's as per Q 1 & 2.
4. Does anyone have a FullTelstra SBF that works unlike the one already posted on XDA.
I have tried renamimg and moving sbf to root folder as per a suggestion for 64 bit windows, though i am only on 32bit, it didn't work for me- 'start' is still greyed out in RSDLite..
I have also tried different rsdlite versions.
I welcome any other suggestions or questions.. At least I would like to know what is going on and how it affects my phone as I have spent hours and hours searching these and other forums and am none the wiser..
Cheers
Gavin
Accidental 2nd post-ignore.
what exactly are you trying to do?
i can't make much out of your long and pointless statements.
be specific about what you need, then maybe we can help.
all i can understand is that you might want the fixed sbf, so here it is.
http://mir.cr/6MJBVDCN
Thanks for that, pointless is a bit harsh though, long maybe- i was trying to give some background to prevent 'have you tried that, just do this- when it is clearly not applicable to my situation.
I will try to put it in point form.
I hope that is a bit clearer, but it is a complicated situation- there are alot of threads dancing around similar themes, but I cannot find specific answers to these questions- i can't see how I could provide less information without having 5 pages of people directing me to posts that I have already looked at but aren't applicable, so yes it is a bit long, but by doing this much misdirected effort is saved by myself and those helping.
Thanks again
Looking at my original post again, it was hard to see what I was asking, thanks racca.
I just restored the Telstra factory reset nanodroid- the start button was greyed out with the Telstra SBF , so i can't use it. Had to use the 'Higgsy fix' to get it to boot. Weird, i just don't understand it.
To be honest, with all the eventual issues with any rom i use, i would prefer to go back to stock (i will have to put up with the grey status bar, short battery life and no flash). I am tired of getting crashes at the most inopportune times.
Can't wait until the bootloader is fully cracked- I have put Gingervillain (CM7 base) on her Desire, which is much more stable than any rom when i was using it.
Update- it just won't boot now, have to reflash the China Froyo SBF, looks like I am stuck with daily @ 3x daily reboots, bluetooth that works 60% of the time, dropped calls etc....
Change SBF file name
Hey there,
I kinda have the same issues as you do, I think...
The RDS lite gave me an instant ROM-flash error when trying various SBF's. I simply renamed the file name to an SBF file name that was working, yes it got a little confusing... first I renamed the original working SBF to *.old.
Suddenly the flash process was working, I've renamed SBF-files on 4 different occasions in order to get it to work.
I'm not quite sure whether you have this issue or you have something different going on, but feel free to try it.
//Dave
Sounds like a plan, I will give it a go. Thanks.
Thanks Dave69 and Racca, i just renamed the TElstra fixed sbf to the higgsy fix; restored the stock nanodroid and flashed it and it worked. It at least gives me the confidence to flash others now, but will sit on this for a bit- don't have time for more tinkering this weekend.
Titanium wouldn't work with the Telstra rom- said it had restored apps, but wouldn't restore evn one.
Thankfully I got Barebones running, SBF and all. Looks great. Thanks guys.
I would still like to know what's going on though, I haven't tried the TElstra full SBF with the rename yet- it had a different issue than others- just failed. May try again later.
Sounds like you have the same problem as me, was on the telstra on. Not being careful enough I flashed a non downgradable 3.4.2_155-002 sbf. So now I can't downgrade back to the stock Telstra one. I have tried both nandroid backups and flashing the stock telstra sbf and neither work. so am stuck on this rom running JBoogie GingerBlur
Not compaining, for a blur rom it is quite fast, only thing is I can't downgrade back to telstra if the phone needs to be returned for anything.
Hope this helps.
Cheers.
Try following the renaming method-though i had titanium issues, it os enough to get me through a warranty claim- i did it before with the same nanodroid backup from xda. Btw, i just flashed the 3.42 out of frustration and it let me go back with the renamed fixed sbf.
I am very impressed with barebones, even the xda app is quicker...

ok, now where do i begin. i'll just say what i can think of instead of answering every single question.
sbf's contains various code groups as you may noticed while flashing it slipts into smaller pieces.
out of those, cg31&39 are non-downgradable and the pair of them must match. all other partitions on the phone are either not flashed by the sbf (e.g. bootloader/mbmloader, pds), useless (cdrom) or downgradable (kernel, recovery, lbl, devtree).
there are no hardware incompatibilities except the chinese ones, but if you don't update cg31(cdt) to match your /system(cg39) you might have some minor issues (i singles these out because they are not downgradable, of course you'll have issues if you don't match all other things).
you might have a chance fooling tel$tra by flashing the sbf i provided (stock 2.26.0) and restore the nandroid. it should be almost identical except you'll get busted when they try to do flash their service sbf.
the bottom line is,
1. if you flashed any sbf larger than 50MB it must have cg39 in it, and you can't downgrade.
2. you must use matching kernel/devtree with the system: the chinese ones will not be compatible with any other roms, you can't mix match froyo with eclair.
Thanks racca, it makes things a bit clearer. I didn't think I had flashed the GB rom, but I must have-it was 3 or 4 mths ago- it explains why I used the Higgsy fix...i think the China one came out very shortly after..
I should probably try flashing a 2.1 rom b4 restoring the telstra nano if I want stock-( with Telstra, we will have to wait until 3 mths + after the rest of the world gets Froyo for them to fill it to the brim with bloat ware..)..
It looks like the Higgsy fix didn't work for our devices anyway-i suspect my phone believes it is a 3.42 fw now.
In any case, I am relieved to have a way to flash the fixed sbf's now.. Barebones is very impressive, no hint of an issue, but need to run it for a week to really see.
Thanks.
I have a Telstra phone too and after a week of owning it back in January, I had already installed a 2.2 De-blurred ROM. I did have radio issues at first and also remember a non-stop reboot issue. I think it was the USB debugging somehow but I could be wrong.
Now I install new ROMs with ease when the need strikes me.
Are you able to flash the fixed sbfs for roms you install?
I've just put the CM7 rom on mine, best rom I've used. Also flashed a fixed rom with it.
Next thing i tried was restoring a nandroid backup of the default telstra rom, then flashed a fixed stock telstra sbf, this worked and was able to at least make the phone look like it was stock. Whether or not that would be enough if i had to send the phone in for repairs. Can only try if it needs to go in.
CM7 is by far the fastest rom I've tried. Only used for a day so far and no problems yet. Highly recommend this one.
Cheers

I flashed the fixed sbf by renaming after restoring the telstra nano and it worked, but didn't run properly, I did it a couple of months ago with just the nano after having jboogies blurless ginger and it passed for warranty. Haven't tried renaming the full telstra sbf yet. I might over the long weekend.

That's what I was hoping, but for now I'm staying with cm7.
Will go back to the telstra one only if it needs warranty work.

You'll be fine.
On a side note, it's ridiculous that Optus have official froyo already, Telstra due in July.

Success: Rogers Deodexed/Debloated | with CleanROM

Successfully deodexed/debloated original Rogers 1.73 RUU ROM using CleanROM tools/script. Why? I am sure I am not the only Rogers phone user itching to have a debloated/deodexed ROM experience. My main goal is to get sk806's mod to work. Debloat wanted for obvious reasons.
What I did:
- I updated the CleanROM installer script, removed two processes for at&t, replaced all system/apps and framework files from Sirius-X.
The install process was rather slow at first, took me three soft bricks, and basically a full day to get my phone up and running again.
I am just testing this now to make sure this is fully functional. For some reason I lost the stock phone.apk app, I have tried all my known methods to reinstall, but still not working. My workaround is using exDialer from the market...sorry the Play Store, for the time being. Also hoping to get the 3-dot mod working on this, main reason for wanting deodex files.
Because I am new to this, and still testing, I don't plan to share at this time ...but depending on demand in this thread, and lack of Rogers Deodex/debloated ROMS available(that can be installed), I would be willing to share. I would also have to msg JSLEntreprises to make sure i could reuse his SiriusX Rom files, also msg scrosler to chg/reuse his CleanROM toosl(although it seems he has opened them up for all to use).
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Credits go to:
scrosler: for his CleanROM Tool/Installer (thanks for all the hard work!)
JSLEnterprises: for his Sirius ROM pieces, and deodexed files (there are still a couple of odexed files left over, I assume there is good reason for this, so I left them in)
SK806: for all the hard work he is doing to get an unlocked bootloader and 3-dot MOD(hopefully we will have the files for 1.73 RUU again soon, to use with this mod.)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
UPDATE:
Both the Camera and Phone apps weren't working..I ended merging a few of the deodexed AT&T apps from scroslers ClearnROM AT&T Beta 1...and it seems to all be fixed.
I wanted to add a poll at this point to see the demand for this from Rogers users, but I can't figure out how, after already making this thread.
GOD If you do share the how-to for Rogers. I'd be happy to give that a GO. Mind you I've done a good job at it myself but I'd be happy to factory reset my phone and proceed with your steps and see the difference.
Cheers bud!

Hey fluxgfx,
If you already have the deodexed files booted on your phone, I wouldn't bother going through the process again, it probably wouldn't be worth it. However, if you still wanted to, I can send you the updated installer script..then you could download SiriusX ROM, AT&T CleanMOD beta1, and copy over the system/apps and framework files, to the proper places in the CleanMod folder(I also suggest extacting the Phone.apk, Camera.apk and any files not deodexed from SiruisX ROM, you will already have these in the CleanMOD app folder)..and do it from there...remember you need stock recovery for this to work, so you can only start with a fresh Rogers RUU flash (so have that downloaded as well).
Let me know after reading that paragraph if you are still interested and I can write out the full procedure, there doesn't seem to be a big demand for this, + at&t users will soon have a CWM recovery, which means we will probably get ours fully functional soon as well, which makes this process MUCH easier and probably safer.
I'm definitely interested in a debloat and deodex rogers HTC one X rom. How well did it fare for you?
Umm isnt it called cleanrom? Im using lite 1.1 and its great.
id be very interested, basically my only itch on the rogers stock rom is that super annoying bottom bar that needs a deodexed rom to get rid of !!
Truthfully I consider this thread/proposal dead at this point...it was only mentioned when there was no working recovery. As soon as we got superCID I flashed at&t and haven't looked back...Been using cleanrom standard ever since.
Go with any of the custom ROM, they should all be much superior to Rogers stock...WiFi crap is fixed, multitasking and much more.

[Q] My first attempt at installing custom rom

I have TWRP installed on my One X and fully backed up my current settings through the Backup function in TWRP as well as Titanium backup, just to be safe.
I want to install MIUI so I've downloaded the zip. Is the best method to wipe the phone and then install the zip, or is it to restore to factory settings and then install the zip?
Also, if I want to go back to my current rom (HTC Sense - that came with the phone) how would I restore the TWRP backup that was created? Also how solid is the TWRP backup? Will I have problems restoring from that with random things like market associations or settings?
Thanks for all the help everyone.
TWRP backups back up EVERYTING (I mean kernel, system, app apks) except for sdcard data. Restoring a backup will look exactly like the moment you backed up the ROM.
In order to flash a new ROM, do this:
1. Back up your apps using some application (Titanium Backup, Ultimate Backup, etc)
2. Create a new TWRP backup
3. Factory Reset
4. Install the ZIP
5. Boot into your ROM and download whatever app you downloaded in step 1
6. Restore your apps from step 1
Enjoy

Don't flash anything that isn't actually in our dev forum unless you want a buggy POS (best case), a massive bootloop (slightly worse case), a beautiful paperweight (pretty bad), or your phone exploding (yeah that's probably the worst).
I made that last one up, but who knows.
As for Sense-less roms, look for AOKP or CM9. CleamROM DE/Dev Edition is pretty much Sense-less, but it retains some backend Sense things to ensure everything still works properly. It's as close to AOSP as you're gonna get without actually being AOSP.

Well there's another lesson in there. Don't flash unless you have sufficient battery (I never do it under 50%....best to do it when fully charged though)
So you're not getting the led indicator to light up when you plug it in? What rom did you flash?

Verizon S3 CMOD 10 Issues

Hey guys, new to the Android world, went from my i5 to the s3, and love it with the custom rom I installed.
I rooted using Ninjas method, and then downloaded the apk unlock it from the play store to open the boot loader. I installed Cyanogen 10 on my device, and it seems to be working great other than the fact I am intermittently losing data connection, randomly might I add. This is a difficult thing as my device provides the only internet I have at my home as I live in a very rural area, however have great phone signal. Is this something that I screwed up when installing? I did not backup my stock rom, however have since learned the importance of doing so and backed up the current custom rom on Rom Manager. I also backed up all the files on the device, and memory card on my desktop for future use, as I am getting tired of reinstalling the apps and finding them over and over. Aside from the long bs, my question is, how do I get my steady signal I once had on stock rom back on my custom rom, and if I want, how do I restore back to my stock rom? Thanks!

So i dont have an answer for you. I am trying to do the same thing you just mentioned. If you dont mind, when you loaded CM10 did you have any issues with CM10 loading up? I am stuck on the boot screen the CM10 log just spins and spins. i let it run for an hour one time. I was able to boot back into the stock ROM but i have not been able to load CM10 successfully.
Thanks.

I did, so I did a wipe then restore to stock rom using odin, then redid the process, and it is working fine other than the ****ty data signal and poor GPS

Are you saying that you now have a ****ty data signal and GPS after using odin? or are you just referring to how it was before?
if you dont mind me asking, could you post a link to the thread you followed on restoring from odin?

Questions Regarding ST:S5

I've searched the forums beforehand, so if someone finds something I missed, I apologize.
I have a Straight-Talk Samsung Galaxy S5.
Model Number from within Android says SM-S902L
Model Number on the battery cover says SM-G900P (B)
Currently running 4.4.2
I was wondering if someone would be able to show me how to root this, install a custom recovery, and tell me which roms I can install. The two different model numbers are confusing me.
EDIT: I rooted via CF Auto root using the sprint ktle .tar. Does this mean that most SM-G900P roms will work? I'm still confused on how to get from 4.4.2 to Android 5 or 6, if it's even possible.
Thank you very much.
i put a version of MOAR built for the vzw G900v on a 902L a few mos ago and its working fine. Just get TWRP on it and you can flash pretty much any snapdragon based ROM on it barring incompatible kernels and so forth
I got TWRP installed and it works fine, made sure the first thing I did was back everything up. It's just that, every post I've seen, the OP's Straight Talk S5 was just a rebranded Verizon S5, while mine is a rebranded Sprint S5. I just want to be certain flashing a Verizon ROM won't bork my "Sprint" phone. I can't find APN settings or anything. So I can't even copy them to change them later. So should I only try Sprint ROMs?
Tats the weird thing about the 902L, it says g900p on it, but i had to flash the vzw version of MOAR instead of the G900Ps version for it to work. But its seriously hard to bork your phone in such a manner that Odin cant fix it. I cant tell you how many times ive tried to install a ROM that was made for the g900p on my g900p and it failed, so, i just flashed MOAR in TWRP again and viola. Also, the backup thing isnt as vital as some make it seem if you have the tarball for the phone you own. Sure, it makes it easy to restore from an eff-up if you dont have your computer handy, but its just so unnecessary to make a backup of your original setup, just have a backup of a known to be fully working setup. Anyways, give vzw's MOAR a try. Its a great ROM and if anything goews wrong, just odin your phones original tarball back on it and all will be back to stock. You have to flash TWRP after the phones OG tarball tho
I don't have my phones OG tar. And is there a step I have to take before installing M.O.A.R or can I just jump from 4.x.x to 6.x.x?
im not aware of any 6.x.x ROMs that are compatible. MOAR is 5.0. Are you trying to get an app working that isnt compatible with 4.x.x? Like the car synch app? And to flash MOAR, just download it, wipe cache, dalvik and system in TWRP and install MOAR. Firstly tho, get the tarball from sammobile.com/firmwares. Its a super slow d/l, but youre gonna want to have it in case of a nuclear bomb restore necessity (not a likely scenario, but youre gonna want it. I have it and can host it for you on android file host later once i get home)
did you get the tarball for the 902L?
i ended up redownloading it from sammobile.com/firmwares. Took about 90 min because of their horrendous download speeds for non premium members, but i have 7 TB of storage, so im not wasting any space just having it since i have a G900P LoL (well, 2 of em along with the bovy of other phones i have for whatever reason i still keep them)
Thank you so much!, and Happy Thanksgiving if you celebrate. I've installed MOAR and the only thing I did was change the colors of the status bar icons and now all the phone does is boot to lockscreen then cycle back to boot animation. Something I did?

wipe all the appropriate caches before installing? and where did you get the version of MOAR youre using? Also happy thanksgiving to you too!
Ironically, I want to go back to 4.X.X for compatibility issues. Do I just wipe Dalvik and Cache and load OG tar through odin? I cant locate OG tar for 902L :/
