In this thread, i do not ask for any help with any flashing to other carriers. I only have a question about it
Donor: Samsung Prevail
Phone to be flashed: nS4G
So i got a used NS4G from a friend. It has his number on it
My question is...if I flash it, will I have to take the phone to sprint to get the numbers changed? or will the number change to my donor number when I flash it? oR WILL a new number appear?
by the way my donor is activated and was used before
:banghead:
Be careful. What you're talking about doing is a felony and you seem to have no idea what you're getting into.
Good luck

Not to be rude but if your title is more specific, e.g. with NS4G in it, maybe there wouldn't be that many viewers. I thought it would be something I could help with, but I'm not familiar with CDMA networks. I used to be on Sprint once upon a time, and I remember I had to take the phone to the Sprint store to have them activate my number on it. Goodluck!
This may work but u 1st need to get the MSL code for the ns4g. Try the app called "get my msl" . U need this code to call sprint. Just say ur buddy had sprint and he gave u the phone.
When u call they will have u enter the phone prompt commands so be on a stock ROM so they work and it will match what they see in their monitor.
This is compared to actually having an old phone that u wanted to switching to ur number.
Now they may catch on or say that the phone was never a sprint phone since the ESN # behind battery isn't in their system. So hopefully they don't bring that up.. then ur good just as long as u did the flashing correct.
Good luck

Felony? How about the carriers give users the ability to move a phone from one cdma network to another just like GSM phones are capable of. Is unlocking a simlocked GSM a felony also?
What should be a felony is having a user buy into an expensive 2 year contract by spending $299 on a phone made in China for $180 cost and not letting you use it anywhere but their network even after the contract.

Its sad you have to go through such measures just to get a decent phone without paying an arm and a leg for it. But to answer your question if I understand correctly, one you flash it and use the donor phone on ns4g it will look like the donor phone to sprint or other cdma carrier on the network. So the old number should no longer matter and the ns4g should register the Samsung Prevail number.
OK thanks for the help

I got my NS4G flashed to boost, it is actually more than a simple flash, the ESN is changed to that of the donor phone. So sprint will always see it as the prevail. Just remember the prevail can never be used again without changing that ESN also.

Oh so I dont need to do so much to get it switched? only the esn? SO I can use shrinkage and use 3g on the boost mobile network
also, i cant seem to get the com port of my ns4g. can you help. I can find it in device manager with the drivers installed
You need to have your NS4G connected as USB modem.
my 10c on the matter - the number is tied to the SIM card you are using. No matter what you flash, you can't change that. My advice - do not play with this type of things, you'll get your phone locked up and from there on it's all downhill

He's talking about cdma phone. Flashing to other carriers is done ONLY on cdma networks for one reason and one reason only... they don't have sims.
LTE might change that but not yet.

So I bought my son straight talk pre paid plan for his tmobile one s. Where we live straight talk uses T-Mobile as a carrier. Right now he is visiting his mom for xmass and the area he is in has straight talk but through at&t. Can I change the apn settings to make his tmobile straight talk work on at&t straight talk? I did try to change his apn settings to at&t straight talk and the apn wouldn't stick. He's running Zen Rom. Also I never updated the hboot. It's still below v .13 (that iterations not right but I think u guys well know what I mean.) Thanks for the help!

Hard to say. I also have ST but I unlocked my phone and am using the micro at&t sim card. I'm not sure exactly how it works buy considering there's a at&t and TMO sim card. I think it works with the network the sim card is associated with. I could be 100% wrong but I may also be right.

Thanks for the reply. I'm going to give ST customer service a call. How lame though tmobile ST doesn't work on at&t ST. I asked at the store where I bought the SIM card and they said that they only sell ST through Tmobile in the twin cities... oh well maybe I can get it online or just change to another at&t prepaid.

Hopefully CS will give you some good info. They are never too helpful when i call in.. Not sure if it'll work but maybe order an at&t sim and just switch out which ever sim with the better coverage is.

Hi everyone!
I just got on to ST with a t-mobile htc one s and am using the APN given on the sheet that came with the sim card. My emails are coming in just fine but when I go to send or attempt to download a picture text, it fails. Can anyone tell me what they have used for their APN? I was also curious if maybe the locked tmobile APN's are having something to do with the fail. Anyone know how to get rid of them so I can create a separate MMS APN?
THANKS!

Just noticed actually that the ST APN isn't sticking. It keeps going back to the locked TMO APN. The version of Android I'm on is 4.0.4. I just tried to use the app APN Lock, but it states that Android versions 4.0+ don't allow it to work. I'm using the TMO ST SIM card.

I'd definitely recommend you unlock your bootloader(if you haven't done so already) flash recovery and install a custom Sense Rom or maybe even give a AOSP Rom a try. I personally just installed LiquidSmooth Rc1.5(AOSP) And when I booted up the ST apn was already there and selected..

Flashing and programming
Flashing does not seem to be what I'm looking for from what I read. I hope no one minds i still ask here.
I have a HTC Desire CDMA running custom ROM CyanogenMod and have gotten a number from an old straight talk phone switched to it with the service. Straight talk support says their system shows a successful number change, My activation number *22890 was not programing my phone successfully. They said I may need to format my phone, obviously I don't want to do this but I have backups and what not, unfortunately I couldn't seem to figure it out so I started formatting things. My question was and is what was I missing what do i need to know about custom ROMS or other setting that was and is preventing me from programming this phone?
A finger in the right direction is much obliged.
u have to be on a stock rom cm roms disable the programing code
Omg thank you for replying, Ill put the stock back on, after the initial CDMA program I can get another Custom ROM?
yea ..its just the cm roms ,aopk and aosp roms that u can't do it with ...any stock based rom u can

remote flash request
Mr. Hunter13,
Thanks for stepping out with this thread. I would like a remote flash on my SCH-I535 to pageplus. I have an existing number/account with them that I would like transferred over to the new Galaxy SIII. The existing account is set up for a droid X2, should you need any donor information. The S III phone is unlocked and has a stock SIM. If you're able to help me out, I would be happy to donate to support your efforts.
Also, I have generally been happy with Pageplus. But I would also appreciate advice if you have a recommendation for a different company that this model works better with.
Thanks!
Rob
Hello,
I have a verizon Samsung galaxy s3 and I currently using it with ATT prepaid services. I can only get edge and I was told in order to get 4g service I need to change the bandbase. Is this possible and if so does anyone know how to do so? My phone just updated to 4.3 and it is not rooted.
No, if you flash an att modem it will hard brick the phone.

Ugh okay. I was told by att to change it because it would be the only way to get 3g/4g service. Its a verizon phone I bought off of craigslist and wanted unlimited everything so I tried with T-Mobile first and no luck. Went with att thinking because I already have another phone with them I would get 4g. After paying the rep said I would get atleast 3g and when I called the c.c 800# I was told to get the phone unlocked and update the baseband. If I'm not mistaken I thought the Verizon I535 was already unlocked!

I don't think the S3 is capable of doing 4g on ATT network. The modem only support GSM however the S4, Note2, LG G2, droid DNA and some others are capable.

It's unlocked, that isn't the issue. The phone doesn't have the correct hardware to get anything better than edge data on an att or T-Mobile network.
You may be able to change the apn and get 3g, but that's a long shot. You certainly can't update the baseband.

From looking around I've come to the conclusion that the Verizon S3 is the most similar. What would be the options?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

There is a sim slot. I actually have Verizon contract. After flashing everything an changing a few settings I have talk, text and data but its steady roaming..I wonder if I'll get charged for roaming? Anyways I'm sure if everything is working there's gotta be a way to stop it from roaming.

I'm wondering if the process they used is the same process page plus retailers used on 4G devices..because my girlfriend had a Verizon s3 that they had to flash to 3G so it can be used on pageplus..when she switched to a note 2 a few weeks ago they told her they offered Verizon's 4G coverage now and she would get it on her note no flashing required. Worked right outta the box. We took her old s3 and hooked it up for my mom. They said that it had to be flashed back to 4G so I'm wondering if straight talk flashed this phone to 3G only with flashing software..if so, is there a free program anywhere to do this? If you are saying that you were on Verizon because you had the Verizon wireless showing in your status bar or because it said it in your phone somewhere then no you weren't on Verizon, your phone showed that stuff because it has that stuff in your build.prop, that doesn't mean you were on Verizon, the only way to actually be on Verizon is if you actually setup an account with them and activated the phone on their network. Supposedly Verizon won't let you activate a straight talk phone on Verizon account, this device is not able to carrier unlock and that's what you have to do to actually switch carriers and use your IMEI on another network. It shows SCH-I535 because of the build.prop, all of that Verizon stuff and the i535 stuff can be edited in the build.prop, that has nothing to do with who you actually have service with, that's just there because its written in the ROM.
