Skryrocket Capacitive Buttons not lightingup - General Questions and Answers

Just flashed Paranoid Android 2.13 to my ATT Skyrocket. Everything went fine but the capacitive buttons will not light up. I can go to settings-advanced and turn them off and then back on and they start working until the phone goes to sleep. Is there a fix for this or anyone else have this problem on 2.13?

[Q] Screen will not come on -- happens in multiple ROMs

Here's the problem: when the TF boots into the OS, the screen cuts off after the boot animation. I can see it fine in CWM also.
I was running the Prime ROM with HC 3.2. This ROM has worked quite well for months. Earlier this week, I was going to boot it up and use it while riding in the car. The screen was fine during the boot animation, but as soon as it hit the OS, it went blank.
I hit the power button and could tell that was working, because I could see a quick flash of backlight when I pressed it. But no screen display.
So I saw that Revolution 3.0 was released, so I installed it. The screen worked fine through CWM and everything was fine up until I installed the OS and went through the initial bootup and setup process in ICS.
When I turned it off and back on, it wouldn't come on. So I don't really know where to start. I assume this has something to do with the backlight sensor, and I have looked around here for some references, but nothing comes up.
Is there a way to disable the backlight sensor completely to test my idea? Anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks all.
My TF was serviced by ASUS back in the summer after I dropped and bent the bezel. They put a new power button daughterboard and bezel on it.
I just wiped the tablet with CWM and it let me reboot and go through the ICS setup steps again.
Screen went dark the very instant I touched the brightness slider control...

Problems with capacitive buttons on CM9 Nightlies

I have installed the latest CM9 nightlies.
I have turned BLN off but have other settings to leave the capacitive buttons on.
However, whenever I turn on the screen, it has random on/off of capacitive buttons.
Sometimes it would turn on, and sometimes it would be off and all of a sudden it would turn on.
Anyone with this problem and know the solution to it?
It wasn't like this for TW.
Also happening to me on every build of CM9 since a while now, and also AOKP if I recall. I'm using the rogers model.

[Q] Softkeys/Capacitive Keys not working

Hey All,
My softkeys (menu, home, back and search) are acting funny lately. They only work when they are not backlit, ie if they are not backlit they work properly but after the first initial press they don't work again until I leave everything alone for a few seconds and the backlight goes off.
They respond (haptic feedback/slight blink) when I press them while they are lit, so I know the actual keys themselves are working fine.
I initially thought this was a firmware upgrade issue (Running latest CM 10 right now) but the issue persisted even after using Heimdall one click back to stock i997 AT&T rom. It also has the same issue with the latest Beanstalk ROM as well.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I'd be fine with disabling the backlight on the keys if that will solve the response issue but I can't figure out how to do that.

[Q] Capacitive buttons dead after first screen off CM11 M10 an later

I've the issue that with some nightlys between CM11 M9 am M10 my One S has got issues with the capacitive buttons. After the first screen off they completly stop working. No light and no reaction. If I prevent the screen from turning of all is fine.
I'm currently running M9 with Bubba kernel, but as Bubba isn't working for me with the new nightlys or milestone releases, I'm currently stucked at the M9 impossible to update.
I've tried M10, M11 and some nightlys between without success. The One S is S-OFF but I've also flashed the included boot.img in fastboot without no help. Even a clean system/data wiped installation immediately reveals this issue after the first screen off.
Does someone else have this problem or know possible fixes I can try?
I've encountered the same problem. There used to be somewhere in settings where you can turn capacitive buttons on and off. I've previously set my capacitive buttons off, but after an update, the onscreen nav buttons aren't showing after the screen turns off, and the capacitive buttons remained at their disabled setting.
I need to figure out how to turn capacitive buttons back on at least.
I think I've got a kind of insane hardware issue with my ville.
Tried CM12 yesterday with the same behavior. Then decided to do an RUU and tested in the original HTC Sense rom.
And I've still got the same issue in the original rom.
Now only my CM11 M9 backup with the Bubba kernel is working for me.
As I also noticed some screen burn-in from Google Maps on the AMOLED I think the time for a new mobile has come.

Capacitive button backlight not working.

Hi guys,
I recently picked up a U11 as a replacement for my old, ailing Galaxy S5. I've noticed that the backlight for the capacitive buttons NEVER comes on. I've OTA updated to Oreo, I've changed the settings for the buttons to "Always On" and I've even gone ahead and did a factory reset on it. It's stock everything (for now!) and no root.
If it comes down to it, I can just do without... but I'd really rather having it working the way it's supposed to...
So... quick update.
Apparently, my notification light wasn't working either. I actually didn't even know if it had one until I looked it up.
That aside, I finally received my screen protector and case. I turned the phone off to apply the glass protector, turned the phone back on... and suddenly have my notification light and the 'Recent' button backlight working. The 'Back' button is still off. So... loose connection? Now I'm wondering if I give the phone another 'massage' (like when I was working with the protector and getting out bubbles) if the back button will come on, or it will just stop working again...
