What tablet for my needs. - General Topics

Hi everyone wasnt sure what section to post this in so just thought i would stick it here.
Ive searched google for days and have had no posative result or have i found anyone that has acheived the same goal so i thought what better place to ask then the xda forums.
Im looking to buy a new tablet for 1 purpose only, i have the torque app on my droid and have bought several bluetooth obd2 adapters from ebay but have yet found 1 to work, for those that have just asked themselves what the hell is a obd2 adapter its for car diagnostics.
What im aiming todo is buy a android tablet that will allow me to plug in a obd2 adaptor through usb as these have no issues and run the torque app but on my searches people have said that the tab would have to allow usb interface with the adapter, i dont really want to go spend 1, 2 or £300 on a tab to realize that it dont work. The tab will be mounted in the car for this strict purpose instead of always having to get out the laptop to run checks and the torque app has much more to offer unlike the usual car diagnostics software.
I really hope someone can help me with this situation as its anoying me that ive bough an app and i have no way of using it.

XDA Exec, USB Hosting???

Okay having previusly owned the XDA II and the XDA IIi I thought the Exec was the answer to my dreams.
One of the main reasons I purchased this unit was after being told by O2 data support the unit will connect to a USB ethernet adapter as long as it was compatible.
I need to use a wired network connection to devices I use in my business, out on a job it can be cumbersome carrying round a Laptop for setting up IP CCTV and TCP/IP interface units so this would be so much easier. It would also run my call management software too!
Unfortunately this does not seem to be the case and the original information I was given by O2 'technical department' seems to be incorrect.
Can anyone here confirm the exec does not support USB hosting, as I have read conflicting posts saying it might be added at a later date. Up to now I have been impressed with the device but the lack of being able to connect to a wired network has just made it an expensive toy and no real improvement (for me anyway) than my XDA IIi.
I was hoping to avoid the expense of a Tablet PC but if the unit cannot support USB hosting then I may have to do so.
I would very much appreciate any help in this matter or advice into what device if any would do what I require.
kind regards
try doing a search in the universal forum it's specialy about Exec
and if anybody can 100% confirm anything related to that it would be there

Mmr for android!

Sorry if posted in the wrong thread! I have recently switched from the HTC TP2 and was using a program that was windows and palm based. I've attached a copy of the program and any help getting this program to work on the droid would be appreciated. The program lets me download actual vehicle auction transactions to assist me in purchasing vehicles at auctions.
Here is the attachment any help would be appreciated
im no developer. but i don't think its possible having the same app work on different. operating systems. is there a website you can bookmark untill u find something else on the market.

That's what I've been doing but it takes to long(it's to slow) Also when a new car store calls me to appraise a vehicle I can't open my browser while i'm on the phone. There are so many people in the car business that would purchase this program. Someone could make themselves some good money.

REQUEST : RedEye Mini (remote)

Well, I've been following development of this for a while now, and today i got an e-mail saying it was released.
What is it? Well its a device that connects to the audio jack of a phone (mainly iPhone, iPod touch etc...) and you can then use a program to send IR commands to any devices you own. Currently the company only support apple products though.
The program that is made by thinkflood has a huge database full of commands for all types of devices, makes an models. It can also learn commands by storing the IR signal from a remote. IT's pretty basic, however i have no knowledge of programming for android my area is web design and programming lol.
Therfore I am asking if there is anyone who could make such a program for Android devices? The accessory costs $49 roughly £32. And in my opinion is well worth the money as this type of universal remote would be priceless. We all love our wifi and bluetooth remotes for PC remotes etc, now I'm sure i speak for a lot of people when I say it would be awesome to control the whole shebang
Well I hope someone agrees with me and decides to pick up this request, I also hope that i posted this in the right section?
Thanks for listening, any questions just reply here. Also google thinkflood redeye mini for their website and info about their products.
Come on, anyone?

I emailed them and they told me that they are starting development on android the beginning on the year
This is highly interesting and old Android phone is both cheaper and more flexible than some overpriced and crappy Logitech remote.
Let's hope Thinkflood releases and Android app soon!
I e-mailed Thinkflood today and got this response:
Thank you for your email. We are in the very early stages of development for Android, and are starting with integration for the Wi-Fi RedEye. Once we have that mastered, we will consider moving onto development for the mini.

Sounds like their still working on Android support.
+1 for this shizzle
Thanks for posting on this old thread and keeping me informed I forgot I made this thread haha.
Nice to know they are currently working on it. This along with my wifi remotes, such as XBMC, Eventghost and MCE Remote will working brilliantly I'll sell my logitech Harmony remote then.
Red Eye for Android is out. But no sign of the mini version. And I dont know of anything similar in the market.
The only issue I have with these mini IR adapters is how powerful they are. Don't get me wrong I'm all for consolidating gadgets, but after setting up Logitech Harmony's, I think they are much better and are worth the extra cost, plus you won't lose the tiny adapters. With that said, if you have an old android phone, this is the perfect mod, no need to throw away that phone!
An a similar note, logitech is releasing an IR blaster that works with their Android App, essentially, so long as your on the same wi-fi network, your phone/app sends commands to the IR blaster which is staged in front of your devices. Very similar to Pear actually.
it sux they spent any time on the wifi version. thats crap. the mini should had been considered first. but of course they want everyone to spend boat loads of money initailly.

Some times I wonder if posts like these are just troll bait. One would think that in today's day and age, anyone would know where to buy a remote control. I mean, its not like he is looking for a used, stabilizer tab trim motor for his Boeing 737. Its a damn remote control! That's like me creating a thread, asking where I can buy a gallon milk. This guy is just begging to be flamed. lol
But to answer your question... ebay. com or your local Walmart.
PS. And this is his first and only post on XDA. Really? Guy fired up his browser and registered on XDA just to ask this question? ROTFLMAO. This guy is my hero.

You could find a better universal remote at various market located into your cities, and if you want a particular location to shop where you can find it, then search it form the google, and i'm sure it would help you to find this.
Hi,
I was looking for a universal remote from a very long time but didn't found any advanced and affordable universal remote, then my nephew suggested me a website and you do not believe I found many universal remotes under my budget. I purchased one for myself and some of the main features of my universal remote are : Powered by: two AAA batteries, Workable range: < 9m, within 45 degree angle, Full function infrared remote(IR) control etc... If you are in the same position in which I was earlier then will recommend you to visit this website: "http://www.brandsdragon.com". You will get great deals.

Shopping for an Android Tablet (Advice Plz!)

I tried using Google without much avail.
Currently when my wife and I travel we use our laptop to binge watch multimedia while sitting on an airplane. We figured for smaller space and longer battery life a tablet may not be a bad idea. I haven't owned a tablet since the NEXUS 7 (2013) and don't know much about them these days.
My quick searches online show tablets with Android 4.4, 5.1, & 6.0. That's crazy!
I'm looking for one that is mod friendly. (e.g. custom ROM for Nougat/Oreo with Magisk/SuperSU support). Most of the models I look for I cross search in Google with XDA and don't find much.
Obviously want a decent screen and decent headphone jack for audio. Likely need an SD card for additional media storage.
Lastly not looking to spend a ton of money on it to the point it would be cost prohibitive (e.g. just go buy a new laptop at that point).
Thanks!
